I didn’t really have a problem with the places inside but last day when I am checking out in the morning and my flight is in 2 hours and they are arguing with me and telling me I have to pay when I already did after everything they said okay I can go and when I left 2 hours later my card was charged 780 usd very unprofessional and the guy before I left asked who’s card did I use to book

The hotel is in a busy touristic area, and you have many dining and shopping options and excellent transport links. It was a bit loud on Friday night, but otherwise it's pretty quiet and feels safe.
I am quite fit, but I struggled to get to the room with my suitcase - there's a lot of stairs, and the last bit is a winding staircase - I thought I'd fall. I wonder if they had any accidents, I was certainly on the verge of falling. I didn't use breakfast either, as I found the price a bit high compared to what you can get elsewhere. The room was small but clean, and the bathroom was great, with a good powerful shower.
To sum up, it was ok, but the only way I would go there again is if I travel very very light.

The room was nothing like the pictures—very small, quite ugly, and very basic. I was in Berlin for the marathon, and the location was amazing. The hotel is only a few steps away from the 35th kilometer mark, which was perfect for my family to cheer me on. The surrounding area has plenty of great restaurants and shopping. Parking, however, was not ideal—expensive and extremely tight. If you have a compact car, you’ll be fine, but anything larger will be difficult.

It's a pretty good hotel. The only downsides are the stairs to access the fifth floor and the internet, which was a bit slow. But for the price, it is an incredible value.

It is in a lovely old building. The elevator is awkwardly located halfway up the stairs between floors. The street noise was quite loud in the morning and our sink drain leaked on the floor. Other than that it was perfectly cromulent.

Loved this property and will definitely stay here again! The room was comfortable, in the middle of city with easy access to restaurants, public transportation and stores.
Keep in mind there are no Air Conditioners in the room la but they have fan and opening the windows will give you a nice breeze. Loved this property!

Plus: Great location, room was very clean, had a desk and a small fridge, internet worked (a bit slow), wasn't that noisy, tall rooms, good service, zero problems. Had also water boiler and a tea cup and a glass, free shower gel. Could come and go as I pleased. REWE and Lidl around 15-20 minutes walk away.

Minus:
Old and not perfectly maintained building, some staff didn't speak much English, no bidet shower, and no aircon - during +32C days the room was even hotter and could not keep the window open in the nights due to the noise from outside so most of the days I woke up sweating. At least I was able to sleep. Not the best place to stay during hot summer. Room was quite small. Easy to take a train or two to the airport.

-1 point from lack of aircon, -0.5 points from the lack of bidet shower. Still I'd definitely stay here again, but not during summer when it's hot.

The Hotel was not bad but it was not clean and the internet was awful, the housekeeping did not wash the glass and teacup and just put the dirty ones back every day, when I first arrived at the hotel the sheets were not cleaned and I asked them to change it, The reception and Handy man were polite and tried to all their best to make us comfortable. the internet speed was very bad and disconnected so many times. the location was wonderful and near to every corner of berlin.

Lots of stairs and a back packer vibe

Be warned, we should have realized this in the name \"Upper room hotel\", that there are lots of stairs to climb. There is an elevator but you have to climb a steep set of stairs to get to the elevator and then another set of stairs to get to the reception area, which is on the 4th floor then our room was on the 5th floor, which was only accessible by a spiral staircase that was almost impossible to navigate with luggage. Location was great and room was fairly nice but the long trek up creaky stairs to get to the room kind of ruined the experience. I wouldn't stay there again.

Positive: stuff very nice and happy to help.
Good location, well connected and full of restaurants, galleries and oarks in the nearby.
Really good breakfast.

Negative: the hotel doesn’t provide a safe room where to leave the lugagge before the check-in. They tell you to leave it in the breakfast room but it's open and they do not get any responsibility if someone steal your bags.
The room furniture was quite old and not as nice as in the pics.

Excellent location.

I have been using the extra time during the COVID lockdown to learn German. Several instructors and classmates suggested that I visit Berlin. I am a financial executive in career transition and many people in my industry have visited the city also. I finally got a chance to visit. Although generally a trip to visit the city, it is also some kind of preparation for career purposes.

Let’s be real this is an extra budget European hotel. Lumpy beds, a crazy haul up to the reception area, no AC, musty smell and for us in the apartment it had a very strange window in the bathroom and I could literally see kids playing soccer in the courtyard that would come up to the window while I was on toilet. I felt like they were right next to me. It was quiet at night mostly and the fam helped for us to sleep. Staff was very nice and the room was mostly clean. It was ok for the money but won’t be back.

저희는 네명이라서 시티센터에서 좀 떨어져있어도 우버로 왔다갔다했지만 걸어다닐 거리는 아니구요 딱 가격에 맞는 위치와 시설이라고 생각하심 돼요ㅎㅎ.. 방 방음이 잘안돼서 옆방때문에 시끄러웠고 그거말고는 가격이 싸니까 기대를 안해서 그런지 그냥 그랬어요

This hotel was pretty great! Located over the most amazing burger place, and a cocktail bar. It was a little noisy at night, but not too bad. Inside was gorgeous, there was parking, and it was located close to a lot of attractions!

He hotel itself is fine. Bed is not most comfortable one but it is good for couple of days. The problem is communication. I sent 3 messages on hotel.com and a special request to ask about late night check in. No replies back. Although they do send out something that looks like automatic messages about the stay.

Good location, but If you are looking for a quite place, just forget it. You would hear all sort of noises. I couldn't sleep. Very dusty and old building, with too many stairs. Very poor customer service. Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. It was sunday and I asked for some basic information about shops and he gave me totally wrong information. They use the word \"NO' very generously. It was night time and asked for one extra tea bag and he said we don't have it, which was really surprising.pillows were extremely uncomfortable. And over all was not a good experience.

Rooms looked nothing like the photos, WiFi and air con are expensive. Showers were good I suppose. Biggest issue was some of the staff at the front desk were unwilling to engage in any actual customer service. The main name on our room missed his flight, so when we got there they tried to not let us check in and if I remember correctly when asking what we could do the staff member replied \"I don't know you figure it out\", thankfully expedias customer service department were a lot more helpful and got it sorted out for us. Wouldn't recommend even if it's a decent price.

The location of the property was ideal. The staff where very unprofessionally, especially the gentleman at check-in time. Also, there are far to many stairs to climb at the property, even with there being a very small elevator.

We stayed in Upper Room Hotel in two separate occasions in April. During our first stay, we were assigned to a nice quiet room which was facing courtyard and we enjoyed out stay very much. However, we had a very different experience (negative one) when we came back after our overnight excursion - the room we were assigned, then, was not only facing busy street and very noisy but we also had to go up/down a narrow spiral staircase in order to reach our room with our suitcases. I think your experience can depend on which room you will have during your stay.

We loved a nice clean room and many options of delicious and nutricious vegan breakfast. Staff knows what the are doing,. Too many steps to walk up, though, as our room was on 6th floor and the elevator only goes to 4th, but we worked through it, even though we were tired. It's worth staying in that area - it's full of life and places to go. Great location, great food, great service.

Unbeatable value for money.

We are a family of four staying in one bedroom with private bathroom for three nights. This hotel is very well located, within a 5 minutes walk from a major boulevard, metro, bus, train restaurants and even the only supermarket that opens on Sunday. It is also very clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and flexible check-in hours. The room was quiet in the night. Unbeatable value for money.

Clearer signs and information needed.

There were no clear signs when you enter the building where you would go to Reception. It was quite confusing where to go. Lighting in the stairs were dim and the elevator was small and sometimes doesn't work. They need to put in Hotels.com that the elevator is only up to the 4th floor and the rooms for single and double occupancy are on the 5th floor and can be reached through a small spiral staircase. Not easy when you have a standard size large suitcase. The place is clean but the carpet needs more vacuuming. The location was great. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby and it's walking distance to Tiergarten, Zoo, Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate.

It was a shock to see that it was located on 4th floor, and bedroom was on 5th. With stairs.
Had to drag my 30kg luggage up n down the stairs..
Location was perfect if you love shopping. There were restaurants in the neighbourhood too.
Yet, up til morning there was knocking scratching etc noisy sound from next room or so I thought. But the staff could not explain what that was.. did not try to find out and stop either.. basically did nothing and just let me enjoyed the noise til dawn.
So basically I did not sleep til morning.
And by morning, the loud noise stopped. What the...??

The staff were ok and reasonably helpful but the room was not very clean. There were old crisps on the floor and the mugs were dirty, when I got in the shower, there was an awful smell and the drain backed up. Could not switch the TV on and there was no wifi in the room even though it was supposed to be included.

Room was average. Had a bad smell in the room on arrival but cleared after opening the window. One very polite member of staff, however the rest were average - neither rude or polite. The layout of this hotel means that reception and the breakfast room/kitchen are on the top floor and as our room was located directly underneath, you hear lots of footsteps all morning from 6am. The hotel is in a good location. Also while the price was reasonable compared to others in Berlin, it was over priced for what you get. I would look elsewhere for my next stay in Berlin

Appalling staff who couldn’t care less, uncomfortable beds with beanbags (I kid you not) for pillows. TVs worked in none of the rooms and spent our last night outside for over an hour after the children of other guests deliberately set off a fire alarm after running riot every evening.
The one positive was the location

good value for money

we had 3 flies in our room during our first night of stay. otherwise everything was clean and tidy.
the hotel has an elevator, but you'll still need to walk up at least 2 flights of stairs.
wifi signal was generally good, but sometimes unstable.
facilities in room was ok, it would have been better if it had a fridge
staff was very helpful, but could have been friendlier.

overall speaking: good hotel for a price like this, would recommend.

Difficult layout, need to be able to do multiple flights of stairs. Plumbing so old you can not flush toilet paper or other paper, will be fined 100 euros if lines get clogged. The receptacle for toilet paper was not emptied during one day of stay.

Very handy location in centre of Berlin, great public transport nearby. Room was very clean with good bathroom facilities. On the fourth floor but had a lift. An old building we thought was charming, and range of delicious food for breakfast was best we have experienced. Staff could be a bit cold and not particularly helpful, but did their jobs well.

Entry is large marble staircase to get to elevator-maybe 20 steps, exit elevator another 12 steps to \"office\" and then YOU must carry your suitcases up 26 SPIRAL staircase steps! -Berlin is a fabulous town with many lovely places to stay-I shall choose another one next time. Carpets horribly stained-I laid the comforter covers in the floor, to cover their condition. The hotel was in the process of new carpets at the time of our stay-but hadn't gotten to our room. Beds comfortable, bathrooms very clean and breakfast very crowded-but good.
BE very clear when you ask front office staff for a taxi-they must call a friend-whose vehicle isn't big enough -and they charge you 5€ a bag to be in front when it won't fit in their trunk! VERY SHADY!

It is difficult to find if you're not paying attention to the numerals on the buildings. It occupies the upper three floors of the building, which means a lot of stairs. A very small elevator has been retrofitted, but it only stops between floors, so you cannot avoid the stairs, and you have to go up two flights from the front door to get to it. The front desk and dining area are on the top floor.

Our room was at the front of the hotel. It was clean and spacious. There is no air conditioner, the television didn't get any channels, and the Wi-Fi was very weak, when it was working. It has two large windows that we kept open all night, and a slight breeze helped cool off the room a little.

The staff was not friendly or very helpful. Breakfast is from 06:30 to 10:30. It was good and quite plentiful. The milk and juice are room temperature of course, so an adjustment for us Americans.

If you are out of shape like me, or if you don't want to climb stairs, and/or you need a reliable Wi-Fi connection, this hotel is not for you. If you want to be close to transportation, stores, and restaurants, in an old, but clean and fairly comfortable hotel, you might like this one.

Recent updates in charming older building

Absolutely loved this hotel. Steps from Kurfurstendamm with multiple restaurants just out the front door, our room (for 4 people) was actually a suite with a separate full kitchen/living area and bedroom area with all paint, furniture, and bathroom area sparkling and new. The beds were comfortable with lamps for each bed, tv in each room, and relatively quiet. The breakfast buffet was great, with something for everyone (corn, pickles, and cherries for my 5 year old, muesli for the 8 year old, and scrambled eggs and rolls with meats/cheeses for the adults). The only down side was the walk up several flights of stairs since check in and breakfast was on the 4th floor and our room was on the 3rd floor, but that was not really a problem for us.

Unique hotel in a perfect Berlin location

The upper room hotel is a unique host, but in a positive way. With a walking distance from Berlin zoo and it's train station this hotel is in a very accessible location with an array of international restaurants upon its street including its very own and awesome burger bar! The room (like all the others) was a recently renovated apartment and this showed but it was cosy and had everything you needed. What I found unique about this hotel is that it shares a block with other enterprises and can only be accessed via the 4th floor, the outer part (staircase) could do with some maintenance as it looks pretty ancient and run down with a musty smell but I'm not sure this is in the hotels control so I cannot blame them. The staff were fantastic, very accomodating and fluent in different languages. Free breakfast is good considering it's free, only qualm which wouldn't be a problem for others but for me it was, some pastries might be welcome in the room for more variety but all other guest seemed content and there's enough options that you'd find a good breakfast. Would highly recommend this new and upcoming hotel, prefect location and almost perfect accommodation with a fair price :)

It is a value for money choise.
It is near to zoo but far away from any other attraction.
The breakfast is good. the room was big (for 3 persons)

Cozy room in betlin

The upper room hotel offers big comfortable rooms and great breakfast with a very convenient location. We got a lot for the price we paid.
