I could hear people outside my room in the corridors very clearly (poor sound insulation.). Food in the restaurant was not high quality. I asked where the public transportation (bus stop) was located and received a rude response. Cannot recommend this hotel.

Amazing views bad staff

It's an old hotel. off center need car for everything. the views are amazing it compassed the other disadvantages. The staff is grumpy and unfriendly, they probably needs reminder who is the customer, especially the restaurant manger, very aggressive.

This is a pleasing new, or renovated, property with a friendly staff at reception, a good housekeeper, an excellent breakfast, and located in beautiful surroundings. It was about 15 minutes, by bus, to the Berchtesgaden central train station, in one direction and about 15 minutes, by bus, to Konigsee. It took awhile to understand the bus schedules.

Wonderful Bavarian countryside retreat.

Wonderful location in the Bavarian countryside. The hotel staff were very friendly, food was great, and our stay was fantastic. Nothing like waking up to cowbells ringing as the local cows are all outfitted with cowbells. We definitely plan on returning in the future.

Friendly staff but overpriced rooms.

Lady at the front desk was AMAZING and so helpful, she really made the effort to make sure we had a wonderful stay. The rooms and breakfast were ok. Comfortable beds but they don’t use mattress protectors so stains showed through the sheets which was not ok. There was also dog hair on the blankets in the wardrobe and when we asked for them to be cleaned they didn’t bring them back again. Overpriced and I probably wouldn’t stay here again. If it wasn’t for the lovely lady at the front desk I think we would have had a worse time!

About 10 minutes drive from Berchtesgaden, nice and quiet neighborhood, with a few small hotels around. Only 4km away from the dock for Lake Konigssee, very convenient. The property is in two buildings, the room we booked has a living room with a pullout sofa and a bedroom with a king size (two single beds put together). The hotel gave us a guest card for each person which provides discounts for parking around the town and other discounts. Friendly staff overall. Breakfast has good options. Would stay next time if in the area.

Great hotel near Eagle's Nest

This was a great family friendly hotel just minutes from Eagle's Nest and salt mines. We stayed in the newer of 2 buildings. Very spacious and relaxing. The restaurant for dinner was wonderful as was breakfast in the morning. Plenty of easy parking and beautiful views. My only regret was we didn't allow ourselves enough time to enjoy the pool.

Nice family hotel, but about that elevator...

At first we weren't sure if this hotel would be quiet - lots of kids running through the halls when we arrived - but that changed once the sun went down. The room came with a nice balcony. Breakfast was very good. The only complaint would be about the elevator. It's clearly quite old and needs replacing. There's a note posted in it to be patient with its slow pace - and it was very slow. That wouldn't have been terrible except that at one point it stopped altogether (with me inside) and I stood in the dark fumbling for the buttons as panic set in. Luckily, I found the right one. After that, I took the stairs, even with heavy luggage. The bigger concern is for guests who are unable to use the stairs.

Did not expect much based on the photos from Orbit’s site. But the room was much better than we expected. High ceiling, spacious, and nice size of bathroom. From our room, we could see mountain and sunrise next morning. We arrived late so ate dinner at the restaurant. The pork knuckle was awesome and very reasonably priced. The Königssee lake is about 5 minuets away.

Good hotel but terrible staff at restaurant.

Hotel was fine and the staff at hotel were fine. Staff at hotel recommended the attached restaurant (part of the hotel) and said it was the best around. Our first attempt at eating was when the older male server rudely refused to seat us outside because he claimed it was going to rain (it didn't). The seating area outside already had at least four other tables full of people out side. We left and drove around town for awhile and when we returned, the same server refused to seat us anywhere. He practically shouted it across the restaurant. When I asked him why, he said they were full (there were at least two clean and open tables. When I explained that we were guest at the hotel, he just shrugged his shoulders as if he didn't care. We complained to the hotel manager the next morning but we're not totally sure if she really cared either.

It worked for a night, but probably won't return.

Pros- staff is welcoming, location is beautiful, hiking nearby, plenty of parking, adequate small room, and great breakfast.
Why we won't return- front desk says we put your family in different parts of the hotel: dad and brother in new and us in old. I asked her if there were any differences between the two sides and price, and she quickly answered, \"No, they are the same.\"
Our old room- hot, small, hard beds, tiny window, tiny bathroom,
Dad's new room- modern, cool, huge bathroom w/ 2 sinks and separate tub & shower, huge bedroom, new beds, entry, etc.
Overall, I do not think it was bright to separate our family and expose the massive differences between the new and old building. Unless I could guarantee a new room for all of us, I would not stay here again. It was sufficient for one night, but only one night. So disappointed.

Good view from balcony,good location (4Km to The Konigssee lake) Hotel provided free local bus pass (y) clean rooms,good food at restaurant. There is swimming pool and sauna in hotel (sauna wasn't working at the time we visited) Everything is very good,only needs children play area in hotel and also kettle with tea and coffee and drinking water in rooms would do even better..Love the hotel and location,will come back 100%.

What can I say about the Hotel Bärenstüberl. From the immediate attention we got while pulling into the driveway to entering the Hotel until we left. The view in front of the hotel is just asking to be photographed and used as your desktop picture. If you are in the area and need a great place to stay, this is it.

Decent country hotel, beautiful rural location

We stayed in this hotel for one night during September, 2015. I would best describe this as a country hotel (one of many in the area), and only a couple of minutes drive from the main roads. The room was basic, but quite agreeable and suited us just fine for our one night stay. The staff were polite and check in was easy. The local scenery is nothing short of spectacular. Based on our experience, I would recommend this hotel for those passing through on our road trip.

Really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Juliann was extremely helpful with information and very pleasant. Food was very good in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner. Good location for the area. The rooms were fine, but no wash cloths provided, and no soap for the sink. Beds were not very comfortable but for a short stay, they were okay. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

My rating does not count if you come in winter

Owner, Juliana, and the main waitress are all good and helpful people. I like them all. Yet, no fan to expect hot weather for non-air conditioned rooms? Allow people to open doors while they cook inside their rooms and make the whole corridor smell? We did not dare to wide open our window even the room remains very hot till mid-night. There are too many mosquitos, bugs, and other insects in the area. Dinner was great though.

The staff was nice and friendly, and the breakfast was good. Overall the hotel seems a bit old fashioned, but the rooms were OK. The bathroom was very small, but clean. The biggest letdown for us was the location, which was in the middle of a small crossroad. It seemed to be a bus stop right outside, so transportation shouldn't be a problem. It just didn't have the charm from the pictures. Some rooms probably have better views than ours, which was to the back yard and not so interesting surrounding hills. It must be added that we reserved the room just a few hours prior to arriving

Hotel was great, it had a bed and breakfast kind of feel. Breakfast was included and was very good. It was the typical German breakfast plus other kind of food that Americans might be like. WiFi however was nonexistent. All of our phones/iPads/laptops couldn't even find the signal when scanning for it, when my husband asked the girl at the front desk about it, she gave him a blank stare and told him that it should be working so not that much help there so I would assume that there won't be any WiFi when staying here. This hotel is very close to the lake but I would do your research before getting there since there will not be WiFi. My husband had an international data plan for work so we were able to use his phone to find our way around. So again, no WiFi was the only negative other than that it was great, we had our two young kids with us and they loved it as well. The room, location and staff were great :)

Angenehmer Silvesteraufenthalt mit kleinen Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten

Wir haben den Jahreswechsel (30.12.25 – 01.01.26) im Hotel Bärenstüberl in Schönau am Königssee verbracht und waren im Doppelzimmer Deluxe untergebracht. Insgesamt war es ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt in einer authentischen Atmosphäre.

Service & Gastronomie
Ein großes Lob geht an das Team: Der Empfang war ausgesprochen freundlich und wir fühlten uns direkt willkommen. Auch im Restaurant war der Service hervorragend – das Personal dort ist sehr aufmerksam und professionell. Das Essen war geschmacklich gut, allerdings fanden wir das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis bei den Vorspeisen etwas unausgewogen. Eine Suppe für 9,40 € empfanden wir als sehr teuer.

Zimmer (Doppel Deluxe)
Das Zimmer war angenehm geräumig, wirkte jedoch von der Einrichtung her ein wenig lieblos. Hier könnte man mit ein paar Details noch mehr Gemütlichkeit schaffen.

Zwei praktische Dinge haben wir vermisst:

Winter-Check: Da wir viel Schnee hatten, fehlte im Eingangsbereich des Zimmers eine Wasserauffangschale für die Schuhe. Dadurch war der Boden durch das Schmelzwasser leider ständig nass.

Ausstattung: Für ein Zimmer dieser Kategorie wäre eine Kapselmaschine für den schnellen Kaffee zwischendurch eine tolle Ergänzung.

Fazit: Ein schönes Haus mit tollem Personal und authentischem Flair. Wenn bei der Zimmerausstattung und der Preisgestaltung im Restaurant noch etwas nachgebessert wird, kommen wir gerne wieder!

Etwas hellhörig. Wir waren in der Nebensaison dort und wenige Zimmer waren belegt. Trotzdem- die Wände sind recht dünn.
Alles in allem sehr zu empfehlen: eine Kombination aus Altbewährtem (Schlafraum) und Neuem (Bad, Schwimmbad, Sauna)

We got a room that was really smelly of dog or dog pee. All the four of us felt the strong smell. We needed to leave after one night even if we booked for two nights and we were discounted only 20% for the second night. They offered to re-clean the room but the dog smell does not go away easily.

Gennemsnitligt hotel lidt langt fra byen

Restaurant og morgenmad var ikke imponerende.
Vi kunne godt tænke os at have været lidt tættere på Schönau am Königsee. Der er lidt langt at gå til byen.

Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis passt hier leider nicht

Das Hotel Bärenstüberl ist gut gelegen, unweit des Königssees. Jedoch sind fußläufig keine Restaurants od. Ähnliches zu erreichen, Auto bzw. öffentliche Verkehrsmittel sind notwendig.
Das von uns gebuchte Appartement (wurde als das schönste Appartement bei Check in angespriesen) ist geräumig, jedoch fehlen im Schlafzimmer Verdunklungsmöglichkeiten, keine lichtschützenden Vorhänge oder Rolläden vorhanden! Mußten eigens mitgebrachte Decken davor hängen (No go). Obwohl wir die Rezeption informiert haben und Abhilfe versprochen wurde passierte während unseres Aufenthalts nichts.
Das Küchengeschirr ist auch nur noch tw. vorhanden bzw. defekt.
Das Frühstück ist durchschnittlich, was gar nicht geht, ist, dass nur Filterkaffee inkludiert ist. Kaffee aus der Maschine bzw. Espresso werden zusätzlich berechnet.
Ebenso ist die Aufheizpauschale von 10 Euro pro Person für die kleine Sauna eine Frechheit, da am Anreisetag kein Platz mehr reserviert werden konnte. Für einhundertsiebzig Euro pro Nacht stimmt hier das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis leider gar nicht.
Die Servicemitarbeiter sind durchwegs freundlich!

Very good breakfast very friendly people in charge of the hotel. All very easy to solve.
Swimming Pool and sauna (both small) are the only small not so good detail.

Das Hotel an sich ist schön. Das Personal total freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Zimmer groß und sauber.
Was uns nicht gefallen hat, war das Restaurant, genauer gesagt das Personal im Restaurant, total unfreundlich.
Das Frühstück an sich war in Ordnung. Wir haben einmal zu Abend gegessen, das Essen hat uns überhaupt nicht geschmeckt, dazu noch das unfreundliche Personal.

Das Frühstücksbüffet war umfangreich und frisch. Sehr freundlicher Service an der Rezeption inkl guter Ausflugstipps. Freundlichkeit im Restaurant personenbezogen sehr unterschiedlich.

Das Hotel bzw. Interieur ist etwas betagter, was uns jedoch nichts ausgemacht hat. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die Sauberkeit des Zimmers/Apartments, das wir bewohnt haben. Ebenso hat uns das Frühstücksbuffet sehr gut gefallen, da war für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei. Das Essen im Restaurant war gut, nur das Getränkeangebot hätte für uns etwas umfangreicher sein können. Alles in allem ein schöner, gelungener Aufenthalt und wir würden gerne wieder kommen.

Clean, spacious And comfortable room. Beds are comfy if you like a firm mattress.
Bathroom is like a ballroom seperate bath and shower.
The view is magnificent however, because of the panoramic window in this room (family deluxe) there are no curtains so be prepared to see the sun come up over the mountains.

Sehr nettes Hotel - für Wanderurlaube perfekt von der Lage her. Leider war das Servicepersonal im Restaurant nicht wirklich oder kommunikativ und auch unaufmerksam.
Das eher klein gehaltene Frühstücksbuffet und auch das Essen im Restaurant waren aber sehr gut.

Very nice hotel for hiking

We are very happy with our stay. The hotel is situated perfectly between Königsee and Berchtesgaden and works very well for hiking and other activities. Clean room, friendly staff. We had a room with balcony. Free parking. Biergarten is not open all days.

Unterkunft und Service an der Rezeption war gut. Die Damen an der Rezeption ausgesprochen freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Der Restaurantbetrieb ist verbesserungswürdig. Freundlichkeit beim Personal von freundlich und hilfsbereit bis unfreundlich.
Insbesondere bei hoher Auslastung, wie am Wochenende, kommt das Personal mit ausreichender Bestückung des Frühstückbüfetts nicht nach. Frückstückbüfett würde ich bestenfalls mit 3- bewerten.
Ein Kaffevollautomat für ca. 50 Personen führt zu langen Wartezeiten.
