Great \"Home Base\" for Tuscany Adventure

About half mile from the train station and adjacent to entrance to walled city, Lucca in Villa was VERY convenient for dining, trains to Florence and Cinque Terre, laundry, shopping, and just strolling. We used it as a base for 5 nights and it was a respite each day after sizable crowds in Florence, Cinque Terre and Pisa. Lucca has an undeniable charm that is hard to beat and the staff at this hotel are friendly and hospitable. And yes, it really is a villa.

This is a perfectly lovely hotel. The staff is very friendly and they offer snacks and a decent breakfast with meats,cheeses, cereal and pancakes. And espresso. There are some stairs but not bad and it’s only 2 small blocks outside the gates of Lucca. The mattress was lumpy but otherwise great heat and nice and roomy. It is a very good value.

Silly me booked the wrong date for the stay, only realized when we arrived at the villa. The check-in staff were very generous and helpful, they let us stay in their another villa instead as this one was already full. Our stay has been very pleasant, the room is clean and tidy. Nice and quiet. Breakfast was good. It's close to the walls of Lucca, walkable distance. Would recommend this place!

This B&B was delightful! Beautiful property. My husband and I stayed here for one night with our 6yo and we all agreed that the beds were comfortable. Check in was a breeze. We had a car, so we appreciated we could park within their establishment. You are just outside the walls of Lucca, but it’s a short 5 min walk into the walls of the town. Walk another 10 min and you’re surrounded by many dining and shopping options! We had breakfast before we checked out at the B&B and it was delicious. My daughter loved their pancakes! They had quite the spread available. Highly recommend this location during your Lucca visit!

I loved Lucca and this hotel was right in outside town and super convenient. Everything was very good for the price. I would have preferred a hot breakfast but the selection was still nice. The bed is too soft for me, but that’s a personal preference and nothing to rate the hotel down on, just informational.

Our host was friendly and helped to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. He even delivered brown bag breakfasts to our room the day before we had an early tour departure. The other mornings, the breakfast was excellent and we ate in a pretty outdoor area. Our room was a bit small for our 3 single beds but the bathroom was large and everything was clean. If in Lucca, I would stay at Lucca In Villa Elisa & Gentucca again.

Located short walk from train station, short walk outside the walled fortress. I think Reception and Villa names signs need to be more prominent. I didn’t realize there’s 4 separate bldgs until I arrived.

Elisa is a very short walk to the pedestrianized city, and it seems safe before dawn and late at night. I valued the convenience of the nearby city wall, a marvelous place to run and walk. The owner has an eye for unforced artistic decoration and is attentive to detail (including Covid 19 precautions). And switching the heating on when it's in the 50s outside is very welcome. Reception during daytime.

This location was a good value overall. We were close to the walls of the original city and a short walk from the train station-15 minutes. There is not a refrigerator, but breakfast is ample. We had a nice little veranda off our room. This is more of a hotel room than a private residence. We were not contacted prior to arrival to confirm logistics, as with our other bookings, but if you have google map you can figure it out.

Really Disappointing B&B

After reading the recommendations here we decided to book two nights at this hotel and were extremely disappointed.
It all started with a late check in we had to do, unfortunately no one informed us that the reception works only until 6pm (strange by itself), and upon arrival we had to spend almost an hour looking for a way to contact a hotel personnel (a hard thing to do since the only number the hotel provided us id the reception's number, which was of course close.
The room is ok, but not too clean, the bathroom as well.
The bed was really uncomfortable and during all of the night we had a feeling we are getting stung by insects while lying under the blanket.
The breakfast was quite poor, and after trying it out we decided to skip it the next day and just grab a bite else wear.
We've seen some better b&b's, find yourself another place to spend your holiday in Lucca.

Lovely Bed and Breakfast just outside Lucca walls

We spent 4 days here and found it very comfortable our room had much needed air conditioning. Breakfast was in a separate building or an outside area, good selection as expected.
We borrowed bikes and used them to travel around walls and into the town, we even ventured further a field to the river area.
We had tickets to see James Taylor at the Piazza Napoleone a great experience and walked back from this along the wall area at midnight feeling very safe.
We managed most of the sights and gardens in our stay it is a beautiful area to visit.

Was a great location and best Wi-Fi we've ever had in Europe or the US. The Assistance with locating restaurants was pretty good. We were given names of restaurants that we used that were excellent. The natural lighting was great in our room but without it there was not much lighting. The toilets were very strange. Sometimes they would flush and some time not. Breakfast was nothing compared to other European breakfasts. Very bad. Good free parking

We stayed in this hotel during our two-week travel in Tuscany, Liguria and Piedmont. We really liked it. The young lady at the reception was very nice, professional and helpful. She provided us with some helpful tips about Lucca, etc.
The hotel has free parking which was a huge plus for us (we had a rental car). The location of the hotel worked really well for us – it’s within a short walk to the old walls and old city center, so you have a quick access to all the touristy things; at the same time, after all the noise and crowds of the old town, you can go back to your room and have a good night rest in a quiet neighborhood.
The continental breakfast was good – delicious coffee, pastry, boiled eggs, bread, cheese… enough to satisfy all tastes and needs.
The room was of good size, clean, tastefully decorated with several interesting décor items, painted in nice pastel colors, very welcoming and warm; the bathroom was spacious, clean towels, some toiletries… We took some pictures (attached).
We liked this hotel; we’ll definitely stay in it again, given the chance, and will be happy to recommend it to others.

Good Value Hotel Just Outside City Walls

We stayed here for two nights which was just about the right length of time. The hotel was easy to find by car and provided free parking. It is located a few minutes walk from one of the access gates through the city walls. This and its good value are its main selling points. Our room was spacious and comfortable but there was no drawer storage space or safe. The bathroom was modern and well appointed but the shower was a high fixed head which my wife found difficult to reach. Wifi was very good. Breakfast was basic Italian fare and was adequate for our requirements. The rooms aren't very well insulated and as a result there was quite a bit of noise transmitted from other rooms as well as traffic noise.

The room was nice with plenty of room for 2 people. The breakfast was more than adaquate. Parking was available on site. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Of the 3 hotels booked this was the only one to specially cater for my wife being Gluten Free - they had purchased products in advance.
Accommodation can be a bit noisy due to marble flooring and some guests obviously don't care about others. Staff very efficient but not really user friendly.

Poor Air Conditioning

Big letdown the A.C system not up to the job for August temperatures. Had two rooms for a family of 4, which was great however we had to drag the mattress from the second room onto the floor of the main bedroom as no fan/A.C in that room, then throughout the night the A.C kept cutting off every 15 mins or so and we were awake all night trying to keep it functioning. No sleep did impact on our enjoyment of the next day exploring Lucca. Staff finish for the day 18:30 pm so there is no one available to help. Staff were pleasant when around and breakfast good and the free bike hire was a lovely touch. Just let down by lack of adequate air conditioning otherwise a nice place to stay.

Lucca in Villa Elisa September 2016

We visited Lucca and Tuscany for our 10th wedding anniversary and the staff went above and beyond to make my wife, myself and our two little girls feel welcome and our stay as pleasant as possible. We had a family room with two bedrooms with the girls sharing their own comfy double bed. The rooms were of a very good size with big wardrobes.

The breakfast on offer was fantastic. There was a variety of bread and rolls available as well a cheese, meats, jams and spreads. Yoghurt, a different cake every day, cookies and fresh juices and coffee made you feel spoiled for choice. If something was not out on display and it came close to the end of the breakfast time, staff were always asking if we still wanted something in particular.

The hotel itself is conveniently located. It is a very short walk to Porta Elisa - the nearest gate into the walled town which is beautiful. Also, the train station is just a few minutes walking away and little further down the road and into the walled town again is the local bus station where regional buses to other towns and cities start and stop.

Lucca in Villa Elisa was the perfect base for our day trips to Viareggio, Pisa and Florence. A big thank you also to the reception for arranging our airport transfers - please also extend our thanks to the taxi driver who took us both from and to the airport.

We were extremely happy with our stay at Lucca in Villa Elisa, would return any time and will recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Lucca.

This is a b&b not a hotel. No problems with that but not always obvious when you book. Difference being you can't get a coffee and a grappa when you get back in the evening! Had a great room for the price. We are a family of 4 and the room we had, had two separate rooms for two with a shared bathroom - perfect. The girls' room had a wonderful balcony.

Hotel 5 mins walk from Lucca walls, in nice area and convenient to travel round, we hired a car but train station not far from hotel. Continental breakfast but plenty of choice. We had room 3 in Gentucca which had a nice little balcony. Would definitely stay here again as so convenient and am already recommending to friends.
Great to walk or cycle the walls of Lucia, we spent two days just around Lucca, including coffee and lunch stops. Lucca felt friendly and safe.

This was a GREAT hotel in a SUPER LOCATION with FRIENDLY STAFF and a GOOD BREAKFAST at a GREAT RATE. 3 of us stayed here in 2 rooms and absolutely loved everything about Lucca and this B&B. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious and had good facilities. Although not inside the City Walls, it was only a 5 minute walk to get to the walls. There were also bikes that could be borrowed from the villa (time restrictions apply) but there was no child seat available. There was ample off-street parking for both villas which are side by side. I would not hesitate in booking there again.

Perfect location just outside the wall

For us this was the perfect place from which to visit Lucca. Very short walk to the gate and into town. We had a beautiful room with very high ceilings, stone flooring, very clean. Beautiful marble stairs to the room. Sort of an elegant sparse modern Art Deco theme. Interesting art pieces. Nice breakfast. Very nice friendly staff. Perfect!

Good place to stay

We stayed 3 nights in Villa Elisa in Lucca. Friendly and helpful reception which provided a map and recommendations on places to eat inside the walls. Included a good extensive breakfast. Parking in rear of the B&B hotel. Good sized room, bed and shower. Conad supermercato about 100m away on same street. A 5 minute walk to Porta Elisa to enter the walled city.

Cute B&B near the old city wall...

Perfect little B&B and only a 5 minute walk to the old city gate entrance. Good size rooms with 15 foot ceilings. Nice hearty breakfast. They have 3 different buildings all located together. They hosted a happy hour in the garden from 5-6pm. Really enjoyed the space. Would recommend.-

Great location

Wonderful 2 night stay...wish we had a little more time there, as never did the free bike around the old city walls, which we wanted to do. The location and comfort of the hotel were great. We did an easy daytrip to Cinq a Terre from Lucca. We really liked the free parking right at the villa.

Good quality but wear your welling shoes

We arrived about 1/2 hour before official check in and the place was open but unstaffed. The clerk did arrive soon, and was extremely accommodating to help us get a restaurant for the following night and a taxi for the same night. It was very clean, spacious, modern, with nice art, a good breakfast and just outside the main gate of Lucca. Rather odd to have no staff on site in the \"off hours.\" It 's also a bit of a walk to best area - since we came by train, the parking at the Inn didn't matter to us. Taxis are very limited as to where they can go inside the walls.be prepared to walk a lot.
