The room was clean, breakfast average. However, the room faced the tram and train staition and it was loud therefore till late in the night. The room was soundproof and I did not heard anything from the neighbours' rooms.

For the price the room and facilities were great. The room was large with an adjoining bathroom which had a separate toilet. The bathroom was huge with a double sink. The art deco theme runs through the hotel and it is very beautiful in the bar restaurant area. Food must be good as it appeared to be all locals eating there. Bar very good value for money and the free too up of wine very welcome. Very friendly staff. Close to the train station, ample parking on the side streets adjacent to the hotel.
Downsides: I’m a wheelchair user, the ramp was at such an acute angle that it was too dangerous. So I had to get help to get up the few steps. The lift is extremely small and barely fit my wheelchair in, I had to pull up the foot rests and mine is a travel electric chair so it’s compact. So if you’re a wheelchair user I would not recommend this hotel. There was food in the mini fridge that was half eaten. The noise aspect was not the other hotel guests it was people who had left local clubs and decided to stand in the street screaming & shouting from 1am to 4am … we could not sleep but not the fault of the hotel staff. So if you need quiet then this may not be the place for you. The very bizarre carpet in the hallways was very strange and really does cause your eyes to deceive you, I dare anyone to attempt to navigate a straight line on it.

A Great Room for the Price

This is a dowdy old hotel in the center of a regional back-water. The price of the room is so low that it is hard to imagine the hotel being able to do much in the way of improvements. The room we had, was, by far, the most spacious of our trip, and the bathroom had a full jetted tub that must have worked once in a time. It still worked for just a bath or a shower. The hotel is located near some good restaurants.

Awesome stay!

This hotel was much more than expected. We walked in and were greeted promptly regardless of a large number of guests in the lobby leaving for a soccer game. The hotel had maps of transit routes to get to the game. The hotel had a spacious room, a fan in the room and beautiful windows that opened. Over the course of a two week trip to Europe with 8 hotels this was our favourite of the trip. Highly recommend staging here.

Very bad experience with this hotel. Assumed parking, with charges, would be available \"at\" the hotel, only metered parking valid for 3 hours. A lot near the Train Station provided 24 hr parking for 12E. Staff were wonderful & helpful. Room, small/dated, no soap in dispenser in shower, no window screens, many mosquitos at night when very, very hot (90+ F). Bar patrons from below our room (Cuba Bar) kept us up until 4 am (bar hours are 8pm-6am). Closed our window and suffocated in the heat. Elevator not working check-out morning. Breakfast very nice. Tram to Womens World Cup excellent/close. Didn't sleep a wink, and exhaused from heat/noise. #neededafan

Three nights during Women's World Cup. Given a grand corner room with 4 large opening windows and a separate sitting room/study. Loads of space in room and very nicely decorated.

A little hideaway in France...

Our room was modest, but very clean and cozy. Great access to the train station right across the road and close to bars, restaurants and city centre. Breakfast was a little on the expensive side, but was very hearty and plenty of options. Only issues we had was with WIFI accessibility, but that seems to be the ‘norm’ for France. Would definitely recommend and stay again if required...

Valenciennes restored to the grandeur it is owed.

I was surprised the hotel was in such good condition. My extended family live nearby and I spent many holidays with relatives in the area. To tell you the truth, this part of France was always a little bit run down. But the Grand Hotel now exudes the grandeur it should. The room we had (a standard) was adequate in size, with good quality furnishings. It was really clean, without the dark, dusty corners, the chipped furniture, the stains on carpets that you may see in other non-modern hotels. The only disappointment was that there was no air con. This meant that we risked letting bugs in. Why doesn't the hotel invest in some bug screens if it can't invest in air con? We'd have easily given five stars for comfort then.

Arrived at 2:00am and had no problems checking in and found my room to be really nice / easy to settle into. Not as quite as I'd of liked but that's only if you need to sleep during the daytime. Staff were really friendly and professional.

Parking can be a hassle. There is only Public parking only with parking meters that you must pay until 6:30pm in the evening or you will receive a ticket. Room was okay, pretty outdated from the comforters, carpet and furniture. Not bad for one night, don't think I could do another.

Our Opinion

The location is fine for a town stay, - opposite the railway station. The hotel is well insulated so no problem.
The hotel restaurant was good, stylish, with a good menu and the quality is reflected in the price.
There is a tram service accross rhe road which will take you to the town centre.
There is the usual problem with the room - Only one chair.
These places have single occupacy Monday Friday and in the main cater for that.

Convenient hotel, all be it a bit dated now. Room was clean but a little small. Wifi worked well. Breakfast was ok, although on 1 day it looked like there was little left after the rush hour. If you want convenience to the station and town centre it meets requirements.

The color selection was very odd for the walls and sheets but decent size room. The restaurant had good food and the staff were very friendly.

Petit séjour d’une nuit dans cet hôtel De Valenciennes, un peu vieillot, mais les chambres sont propres et fonctionnelle pas très spacieuse mais un bel écran télé une salle de bain avec baignoire, petite mais correcte et bonne insonorisation sonore qui m’a permis de passer une bonne nuit dans un lit très confortable.

Le pb. est dans les chambres. Chambres rénovées mais sinistres. Couleurs foncées cafardeuses. Pas d’espace de déplacement. Salles de bains non rénovées sans tablettes pour poser le nécessaire. Douche pour géants. Et porte de séparation qui se referme, dure à ouvrir et ne permet pas la communication avec les affaires forcément dans la chambre puisqu’on ne peut les poser dans la salle de bains. WC exigu la tête tout de suite dans la porte et qui donne directement sur la chambre !!!
Lors d’un précédent séjour avions trouvé l’hôtel vieillot et défraîchi et espéré une atmosphère plus agréable avec la Motion rénové’. Las !!! N’envisageons pas un 3* séjour. Désolés.

Hôtel un peu vieillissant et dans son jus mais tout est en bon état (à la seule exception de la pomme de douche) et tout est propre.

Le personnel est aimable et professionnel, rien à dire de ce côté là.

Le petit déjeuner est très correct, j’ai apprécié le choix au buffet.

Seul ombre au tableau : le quartier de la gare peu parfois être bruyant la nuit…
Certes la dessus l’hôtel n’y peut rien si ce n’est prévoir une meilleure isolation phonique dans de futurs plans de rénovation.
Idem pour les cloisons des chambres qui peuvent s’avérées minces si le voisin est plus bruyant que la moyenne.

Arrivés dans notre chambre, lit de 140 datant d'une autre époque très inconfortable.
Salle de bain ménage à revoir etat de propreté laissant à désirer (traces noires , poils dans le bac de douche, porte de douche cassée).
Et enfin la cuvette des toilettes je pense qu'un bon détartrage s'impose.
Et enfin heureusement que ce n'était que pour 1 nuit.

Hotel choisi notemment pour les mentions \"grand lit\" et \"systeme dinsonorisation\". Le grand lit est en fait un lit double avec un surmatelas. L'écart entre les 2 lits augmentait pendant la nuit au point de devoir descendre des lits pour les rapprocher.
Concernant le système d'insonorisation, il est inexistant. Nous entendions les discussions de voisins ainsi que les ébats de voisins comme si ils étaient dans notre chambre. J'apprecierais donc une indemnisation pour

La baignoire était sale (rideaux tachés, joints noircis...).

(Le bouton \"ajoutez une photo\" ne fonctionne pas mais j'ai des photos.)

Malgré l'age avancé de l'hôtel et l'ameublement plutôt vieillot, bel hôtel propre, bonne literie, très grande tv dans la chambre, bon petit déjeuner dans une grande et jolie salle, ce qui est le plus important. Petit plus : l'emplacement face à la gare et proximité du centre-ville.
à pied. Nous avons aussi apprécié la possibilité de garder la chambre jusqu'à midi. Bon séjour dans cet établissement.

Ok til overnatning på vejen.

Gammelt hotel. Der var nusset alle vegne, slidte gulvtæpper, bruseren duede ikke, badekaret/spaen var knækket i plastikken og dysserne var så beskidte, at vi ikke ønskede at bruge spa/badekarsfunktionen.
Der var kun lagt håndklæder frem til 1 person, selvom vi var tre tilknyttede til værelset, toilettet var løst. Morgenmaden var kedelig.

Servicen var god, de var søde og hjælpsomme og hjalp når vi har udfordringer med værelserne.

Værelse var rent, bortset fra toilettet - der var myrer på gulvet.

På værelset var der en aircondition, men når man tændte for den, gav loftet sig og virkede nærmest til at falde ned. Så vi måtte slukke hurtigt for den, i skræk for at det faldt sammen.

Samtidig var værelserne meget lytte, så man kunne hører ALT, og alt hvad der foregik på gaden. Ikke den bedste søvn man kunne få

Hôtel qui a certainement eu son heure de gloire mais qui a aujourd’hui perdu de sa superbe.

L’emplacement : bien que idéalement situé face a la gare, l’hôtel n’est malheureusement pas dans le quartier le plus calme de Valenciennes. Pensez à refermer tous les soirs le double vitrage que la femme de chambre réouvre tous les matins pour aérer.

La chambre : literie très confortable, grand écran de TV mais malheureusement aucune prise électrique à la tête du lit … pas très pratique en 2024 quand tout le monde branche son portable sur la table de chevet…

La salle de bain : inondation garantie avec une petite baignoire sans aucune parois ni rideau de douche. Attention à la glissade en sortant.

Personnel agréable.
Pas testé le petit déjeuner.

Malheureusement je choisirai un autre hôtel quand je reviendrai à Valenciennes.

Voor een tussenhotel vind ik het een matig hotel.
Vind zelf een ibus of in die soort hotels een stuk beter voor een tussen hotel.
Bedden waren erg klein en je hoord je buren door de muren zowel beneden als boven zowal links als rechts.
Ontbijt was ook erg beperkt en niet echt het geld waard.

Hotel vetuste. Il n'a rien de \"Grand\". Je l'appellerai plutôt \"Vieille Hôtel\"
Fenêtre cassé dans la chambre remplacée par une planche de bois. Le robinet de la salle de bain à coulé toute la nuit. La crasse en bas des parois de douche. Le calcaire. Équipement cassé. Un sur matelas mal enveloppé au point de se réveiller la nuit pour refaire son lit. Un petit déj à 10€ qu'avec des produits périmés ou utilisés plusieurs jours de suite œuf brouillés inmangeables (voir la tête du jambon Halal). Le service hygiène et santé devrait passer voir. ..
Franchement très déçu, il vaut mieux réserver un autre hôtel pour ne pas être déçu.
Heureusement que le Personnel fait de son mieux et est aux petits soins pour relever le niveau. Ce qui n'efface pas cette mauvaise expérience.

Aucune remarque négative sur l'hôtel, mais une impossibilité de dormir dans la mesure où la place de la gare, où se trouve le grand hôtel, est un lieu de beuverie les week-ends, aux dires même du personnel de l'hôtel. hurlements, cris et invectives toute la nuit de samedi à dimanche, jusqu'à environ 5h...
A éviter absolument le week-end.

Quand on demande, au moment du retrait de la clef :
« Bonjour, c’est bien une chambre avec un grand lit double et non pas deux lits jumeaux collés ? »
Réponse : «Bien sûr Mossieur »

Et bien non !!!! On sent bien les deux vieux matelas séparés…

Mais également, ne JAMAIS ACCEPTER la chambre 121 le vendredi soir ou le samedi soir : CETTE CHAMBRE EST COLLÉE À UNE BOÎTE DE NUIT…

Sympa l’attribution sachant que l’hôtel n’était pas plein…

Das Hotel ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Lage am Bahnhof ist okay. Nachts um drei Uhr versammelt sich die Jugend und macht unheimlich viel Lärm und Krawall. Auch keine Polizei die Streife fährt. Der Lärm ging über eine Stunde.

Le personnel et l'emplacement est très bien.
On sent que c'était un super hôtel dans le passé. Il est vieillissant, c'est un fait, mais on s'y sent bien qu'en même. Il semble qu'il y ait des travaux de rénovation en cours... A voir, dans tous les cas, j'y retournerais avec plaisir!

Prachtig art deco pand was het ooit. Hopelijk wordt het in oude sferen hersteld. Slapen prima, ontbijt prima, locatie prima, schoon, vriendelijk… kan er niets negatiefs over vertellen. Behalve dat je niet begrijpt hoe die aanpassingen in de loop der tijd zijn gebeurd… restaurant was gesloten op zondag maar werkelijk fantastisch gegeten bij het Grieks restaurant 1 straat verder, 3 minuten lopen.

Séjour bien triste à l’arrivée jusque au départ

On ne m’a pas indiqué qu’il avait plus aucune eau chaude sinon j’aurais annuler la réservation

Pas d’eau chaude jusqu’au moment du départ je l’ai signaler 2 fois la 1er fois la personne a la réception en avais complètement rien à faire ( ne se met pas à la place du client ) la 2e fois la personne était quand même désolé mais impossible de trouver une solution

Étant venu pour une compétition de tennis, je n’ai même pas pu avoir de l’eau chaude en plus de cela l’hôtel change d’année en année ce n’est plus le splendides hôtel des année 70

Pas de services de restauration , pas de bar à la disposition des clients les week-ends pour manger , problème de poignée de porte le jour de départ les poignées s’enlève , le lavabo impossible de le remplir d’eau car le bouton est cassé et il s’enlève, pareil pour la baignoire le bouton d’eau chaude s’enlève tout seul , le jet du paumo de la baignoire est pas puissant donc obligé de faire couler un bain ( mais pas d’eau chaude )

Et le comble du séjour c’est le petit déjeuner

7h à Peine 30 Minutes et même plus de jus multifruits la machine est vide

Ça m’a vraiment déçu ce séjour et pourtant j’en fait régulièrement des séjours dans les hôtels que ce sois en France ou à l’étranger

Je ne reviendrai pas et je déconseille à tout joueur de tennis ou membres de la FFT

Négatif : bain à remous non fonctionnel, sèche cheveux non fonctionnel, Trop chaud dans la chambre, rajouter un rideau pour la baignoire quand on prend une douche il y a de l'eau partout

Positifs : très bon accueil, lit très confortable, petit café c'est toujours un plus, lieu accueillant, personnelle très gentil.

Repas excellent mais choix limité car four en panne.
Personnel serviable et aimable.
Mais mérite d'être mieux entretenu et modernisé.
Ascenseur en panne et surtout absence de climatisation, alors que la proximité de la gare empêche d'ouvrir les fenêtres.
