Good hotel if you're just looking for a place to sleep, since you’ll probably be out exploring most of the time. It’s not a 5-star property, but it does the job for a night or two. Staff were friendly and the location is spot on — about a 10–15 minute walk to the lake and the center of Thun. Parking is available right next to the hotel and it’s affordable, but make sure to have some Swiss Franc coins on you.

The room was very comfortable. Location was right across the street from express bus that took you to train station in 5 minutes. Hotel is a short walk from a lovely wooded park and Lake Thun. Hotel is about a half hour walk from the city center if you walk thru the park and along the lake.

I paid £600 for 3 days it was an absolute rip off it’s not a 3 star below average filthy and unsafe. Besides except the staff Gonzalo’s staff were terrible rude and un pleasant the cafe lady was nice though. Rooms are poorly conditioned no double beds broken fans with string attached my son couldn’t sleep at all. This must be rate to 1 star hotel

Receptionist is never at the desk. Worst check in experience ever, was never told by the hotel that there is no receptionist on Sundays after a certain time (I even confirmed my stay via email and nothing was mentioned about self check in) and after a long flight we got to the hotel and the doors of the hotel were locked. We had to go across the street with our luggage to call the hotels emergency number at the neighbouring hotel. Found a dried up contact lens on the floor of the hotel room when we came in, everything was dusty and looked overall dirty. Avoid this hotel at all costs if ur a clean person and want good customer service. It gave more of a hostel vibe rather than hotel.

Parking would have been good across the street from hotel but it was closed due to Ironman competition. Not the fault of facility but wish we had known before booking. Toilet was broken and continually ran. Bus stop in front of hotel on busy street so unite noisy. Will not return.

In albergo dove in tre abbiamo speso 300 Euro per notte mi sembra tanto per avere una piccola stanza senza aria condizionata e 3 brandine che l´ultima volta che ho dormito sopra una cosa cosí era durante la naia.

Alpha Thun was a pleasant surprise. Our original booking of a different hotel in Interlaken was cancelled on us by the hotel and we scrambled to find another and this is what we found in Thun. The hotel is right next to the Strandbad bus stop, making it convenient to travel using bus. The room was clean, quaint, spacious enough, and decent looking. The hotel restaurant was great. The food selection was great. Our server, Pao, offered a few great suggestions for Schilthorn and the hiking areas around Murren and Gimmelwald. Since we love hiking, we followed her suggestions.

Do it yourself hotel after 8 pm

This hotel runs with minimal staff and the check in closes at 8pm. You will need your smart phone to either access instructions sent by e-mail if you don't arrive by 8pm or to call the emergency number for instructions on how to get in the building and get your room key. Room was fine, functionally furnished and clean. A cold buffet breakfast is available.

A gem of a hotel !

This little gem of a hotel truly exceeded our expectations. The staff were genuinely welcoming and helpful, the hospitality area with free coffee and cold drinks was much appreciated after a long drive. The room was comfortable and well equipped and breakfast was varied and good quality. They even gave us a free pass for the local bus into Thun. We had a really enjoyable stay in Thun, largely down to the Alpha Thun hotel and if and when we return we would not hesitate to use this hotel again ...well done guys !

1) Unlike other Swiss hotels, City Tax paid during booking (charged direct by the hotel)
2) hair dryer kept out of sight (high above bathroom mirror top ledge) so we decided to use ours
3) 2nd night shower foam liquid only enough for one person so we have to use ours !
4) 2nd night the tissue box was empty so we have to use ours !

The hotel staff at reception and the service at dinner was first class. The breakfast was disappointing in that the buffet had not been topped up and therefore, it was a question of choosing from the left overs. The server at breakfast was simple not interested and a smile was lacking and even had to seek he out to get some more tea and coffee. It was a great shame which spoiled to good work done by other staff.

Overall good experience.... the room we booked happened to be in top floor/attic with a slanted ceiling and a bathroom shared with 4 other rooms, which was a bit awkward (regular room with full ceiling and bath is $50 more), but otherwise the hotel was fine just for sleeping after long days of sightseeing. They provide a great breakfast and a discount card for local attractions, which worked out very well for our stay. Location is very quiet and safe, paid city parking across the street ($4/24hr).

Elevator broken, no wifi on floor

once u check-in, room on 3rd floor (actually, it's on 4th floor's stairs climbing in Swiss), 1st bad impression, elevator is broken and no repairs. Man.. not happy with my luggage.

Then, u find out wifi is only on lobby (ground level), need climb up and down, just to google some direction and info etc.. not fun..

lastly, our room is on edge/slope side of the big building, hence I bump my end twice to the side at room and I'm only 5'8\". No telephone in the room, so u can't get help in case of emergency. No water in the room neither.
regarding the door key, once u lock it from outside, u can't open it from inside neither. it's bad if parents didn't know such and leave kid sleep inside the room and screaming for good.

The only thing plus is the breakfast and staff does smile at you.

Way to expensive for what you will get!

I am used to small rooms with less comfort. But what I got in this hotel is below an acceptable level. There is no water available in the room, the room is small and under the roof and therefore very hot. The ventilationsystem provided by the hotel is not working. There is no wallplug available to charge phonse unless you go and unplug the light for the room and use that one - but hey, a dark room is also nice. I wouldn't mentione that all as the room was clean, but clearly for the price I had to pay for that room - its absolutly not worth it. I'm sorry about that, but I'm travelling a lot and haven't seen such a bad offer.

Disappointing room and inflexible staff

I have stayed there before but I must say that my most recent stay was a disappointment. The room was equipped with two beds but was only big enough for one. It was not comfortable to stay there.
Additionally, the staff showed now flexibility whatsoever. Tried to check out (well before noon) but was forced to pay one extra night. Tried to get a quiet table during breakfast to have a business meeting but was not at all being helped.

The price was affordable with a great breakfast. The wi-fi was unavailable in the rooms, only accessed it in the small lobby area or restaurant. The room had a slanted ceiling loft (uncomfortable for tall people and unable to stand up under 1/2 of the room.) The bed was two twin beds that separated during the night. Just two showers for whole hotel but did not have a problem using the one on my floor when desired. Quite a distance from train station but provided vouchers for free bus usage after checking into hotel.

Very good for 3 star

The staff was very friendly, the room was nice and clean. Breakfast was very good. We found out when we arrived that parking is across the street in a public lot, so we had to get cash to pay the machine, but it wasn't expensive. The room we booked was advertised as not having a bathroom, but it actually had a sink and toilet for the room, it was just the shower that was down the hall. Better than expected.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The location is very good, the bus station is just right in front of the hotel. The room are very clean and spacious, it's also very quite and I slept very well the whole night. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was superb! Staff are very helpful and friend, therefore, I would stay there again.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. We will certainly use it again. The rooms were very comfortable. A roomy bathroom with soap, tissues etc on offer. Good location with great views. Lovely breakfast, included in the price. Fruit and drinks offered free in the lobby to guests.

Lovely staff, nice hotel, cheap for Switzerland.

Right by the No.1 bus stop (it's not walkable from the station), Alpha Thun is a restaurant/hotel with energy-friendly/contemporary touches. On the surface, all good, but scratch it slightly and you may find it far from ideal. Arrived Saturday, couldn't pay the bill there and then - had to leave Sunday early, so anxious about having enough to time to breakfast and settle up as well. In the end, had to curtail breakfast, a real shame, because it looked delicious - several domestic cheeses, salmon, fresh fruit, delicious fresh bread - all provided on a Sunday. Room (single, shared bathroom) cabin-like, extremely squeaky bed, walls paper-thin, its light hardly worthy of the word. Staff otherwise extremely helpful, genuinely nice, worthy of praise, in fact. Another gripe - the marketing blurb posted around the lobby and restaurant - referring to 'fish'n meat & desserteria' and 'hotel and sleep factory' and other total nonsense - utter, utter garbage, laughably bad. You could even travel the whole of Italy and not find such heinous crimes committed to the English language. All in super-cool lower-case, of course. Pah! Dreadful! But, for the price, you wouldn't find better in the centre of Switzerland.

Nice Hotel in Thun

Great place to stay. Affordable, and right across from the bus station. This hotel, like most in Switzerland has no air conditioning... that's the only drawback, but very few have A/C so I can't knock it on that. I'd stay again and recommended it too!

The service in the hotel is excellent. The staff really wants to go the extra mile. Location is approximately a 20 minute walk from Old Thun, but it is only a 5 minute bus ride. Staff is very bilingual (French, German, English). The restaurant was amazing! The quality and abundance of the breakfast (included) was fantastic by Europeean standards. We were 4 people travelling with a child and were there for 4 nights. we were lucky enough to have been given a room upgrade and had a fantastically big room. Rooms were very simple and clean. Some of the rooms were very small though, but again for the price compared to other Swiss hotels in the area it was great value. Beds were comfortable. Third floor rooms were very warm though but they gave us a fan which helped a bit (windows could not be left open due to it being wasp season. Across the street from the hotel there is a wonderful huge park and waterfront area.

Alpha Thun was clean and comfortable. There is a city bus stop right at the door, so it's convenient to get there from the main train station. It's very close to the lake and an easy walk to Seepark. Breakfast was included, and it was delicious. We were happy with our choice to stay at Alpha Thun.

a wonderful sty in Switzerland

We arrived 40 minutes after the 8 p.m. checkin deadline and found two Spanish-speaking girls outside the hotel who could not get in. They had arrived 15 minutes after the check-in deadline. We were able to finally get someone's attention inside and found a telephone and number to call on the reception desk. I called and the manager politely explained the hotel, its amenities and gave me a code to a security box so that I could get my key and the two other guests could retrieve theirs. Problem solved easily! Just DON'T arrive after the 8 p.m. check-in time on a Sunday! The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was one of the most varied and complete that we encountered on our travels. The hotel itself is a 4 minute bus ride on the #1 bus from the main bus station , across the street from the Train Station (Bahnhof). This is a smaller hotel, but VERY accomodating to guests. We left our luggage with front desk personnel and they kept them for us while we did a day-long walk discovering the AMAZING shopping in Thun. Best prices and best hotel deal of the trip! Thanks, Alpha Thun for making our Bernese stay very memorable. It started a little shakey (our fault becuase of the later-than-expected arrival), but ended up a great experience!

En fait, il n'y avait aucun stationnement. Malgré la mention lors de la réservation. Nous comprenons que c'est dû a un évènement mais ils n'ont pas pensé a leur clientèle, leurs trouvé un plan B ou les aider a trouver un endroit pour leur voiture. Nous avons dû chercher par nous même et nous informer auprès des autorités de la ville. Tout les stationnements étaient fermées pour l'événement. On nous avait dit d'aller voir au super marché qui étaient avec horodateur max 3h... Une dame nous a dit de se stationner pareil dans le grand stationnement et de quitter avant 6h le matin. Ou prendre un risque ailleurs que ce n'était que 40chf l'amande. En faisant le tour de la ville on a trouvé un stationnement près d'un château et avons croisé les doigts que sa fonctionne a 16 minutes de marche de l'hôtel. Toute qu'une journée d'anniversaire.

Don't stay here while there is a heat wave

We stayed here while there was a heat wave - no AC in the room, and opening windows created 2 other problems - lots of mosquitoes flying in and a lot of noise - the low point was when someone started to use 2-stroke bush-trimmer next to the hotel 06 AM. Bathroom did not remove any moist and felt more like a Turkish steam sauna. Would have probably been much better experience if the weather had been colder.

L'acqua calda in doccia è durata due minuti e mi sono dovuta fare la doccia fredda. Sul letto c'era solo una sorta di coprimaterasso, non c'era nessun lenzuolo. Servizio reception assente la mattina al mio check out. Ho dovuto suonare due volte il campanello e non ho trovato molta cordialità.

Sehr unfreundlichen Empfang. Keine Gastgeberqualitäten der Dame an der Reception. Wir wirden nicht darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass wir Anspruch auf die ÖV Benützung gehabt hätten. Im Zimmer funktionierten lediglich die Hälte alker Lampen. Somit fällt die Preis/Leistung Frage sehr schlecht aus. Einzige Ausnahme war die junge Aushilfe beim Frühstück. Einmal und nie wieder.

出張で急ぎで安い宿泊先を選んだのみ。周辺と比べれば安いと言うだけで、ただ泊まる場所と考えた方が良い。スイスの他のホテルを知らないが、部屋着，スリッパ，バスアメニティ(サービスはあるがたまに補充忘れる)，水の持参をお勧めする。セキュリティはただの鍵のみ。週跨ぎで総合出入り口のコードは更新されるが、一度連絡が来なくてロックドアウトされた。

L'Hotel è un po distante dalla stazione e dal centro della città di Thun (2 KM).
La camera era pulita, arredata in modo spartano, con letti singoli in tubolare di ferro, ma non ha l'aria condizionata, e non è possibile aprire la finestra perché si affaccia ad un incrocio di una strada principale, molto trafficata e perciò rumorosa, nella camera non ci sono ne il mini bar ne la cassaforte.

Der Self-Check-in hat auf Grund von spätem Eintreffen einwandfrei geklappt. In der Lobby standen Kaffee und Obst für die Hotelgäste zur Verfügung. Es war sauber und das Personal sehr freundlich. Das Frühstücksbuffet entsprach den Erwartungen. Das wir draussen frühstücken konnten freute uns sehr.
Da das Hotel an einer befahrenen Strasse liegt, wird man bei offenem Fenster vom Strassenlärm geweckt, wohlverstanden bei offenem Fenster.

Zimmer auf Niveau Massenlager, Preis /Leistung - -

Lage des Hotels ist in kurzer Distanz zum See und dem Stradbad ideal. Leider aufgrund der Hauptstrasse und vor dem Haus liegender Bushaltestelle laut. Das Hotel war 2011 Testsieger, leider scheint seither nicht mehr gross investiert worden zu sein. Zimmer und Mobiliar sind abgewohnt, allgemeine Räume einfach renoviert - Preis / Leistung stimmt nicht.

Très bon séjour--chambre confortable et propre.

Très bon séjour dans le respect des conditions sanitaires strictes (il n'y avait pas de personnel de réception et le check in était automatique avec clé dans la boîte aux lettres et code d'entrée).
Le package avec réduction offre culturelle et transport public était apprécié et délicat.

Ein gemütliches Hotel am Stadtrand\n

Unmittelbar in der Nähe des Sees und der Sportanlagen Lachen gut auffindbar mit grossem allgemeinen Parkplatz in unmittelbarer Nähe hat uns das Hotel gut gefallen. Das Restaurant mit der kleinen, feinden Karte hat ein sehr gutes Mahl bereitet.

Très bon rapport qualité prix. Je reviendrai !

Arrêt de bus devant la porte. Bus toutes les dix minutes. 7 minutes seulement jusqu'à la gare. La chambre est spacieuse et bien équipée. Le buffet de petit-déjeuner est richement garni. Et j'ai très bien mangé au nouveau restaurant Da GIO de l'hôtel. Finalement l'équipe est très serviable et souriante

Personal ist freundlich, Zimmer sauber, aber leicht überwärmt und Fenster nicht zu kippen, Restaurant ubd Frühstücksraum sehr funktional aber nicht so einladend.
