I have stayed here many times and the staff are always so polite and helpful. Unfortunately the room this time was on the side of the motorway and was quite noisy but all the other times I have stayed the rooms were lovely and quiet.

I really expected more. The staff was okay, not very friendly. The rooms had issues,
only 2 tv channels that wasn't snowy, (kids and crime)
toilet leaked,
No top sheet on bed,
Pillows were flat,
Light switches didn't work properly.
Food from the restaurant was good and service was friendly.

Great stay not so great food

The room was excellent value for money with great furniture. I could not find any remote for the aircon, thpough it worked at the unit. The food for dinner was aweful and never again will I dine at the hotel for dinner. The chicken seemed to have been frozen, de frosted and cooked which made it tough and soggy under the batter. The service was good.

Great stay.

Great hotel. The reception staff are excellent, while the breakfast staff are even better. Rooms are great, though housekeeping take towels etc away but don't replace them. Had to track them down when I ran out of hand towels. Wi-Fi could be stronger. Very safe, very clean.

Overally stay was ok. Environment is relaxed and has a home feeling instead of hotel feeling which is good.
The upstairs corridors and steps need to be kept clean though.
I requested for unsweetened soya milk for breakfast and they kept saying they will provide and I checked out after 3 days before they got round to it.

Incredible service; world class boutique hotel!!!

Absolutely amazing stay. First of all, it’s a world class hotel. This from someone who is used to good AMERICAN hotels. It may be a 4 instead of 5 stars and I assume that has to do with the level of amenities but everything in this hotel is top class. I did not have anything to eat here that was not high class restaurant quality food. The menu is limited but very interesting and like I said, too, top shelf. However, one does not come here for be amenities. It is in essence a business hotel which works great for people on vacation as well. The best thing about the Falstaff though is definitely the service. Every person that works here has one goal in mind: your total and utter satisfaction. They don’t just want to help you or get you out of the way with little fuss, they really want to meet every need and desire you have. It is really mind blowing and I will never stay at another hotel in JNB again. Btw, this is my second stay and the first was just as good...

Quaint boutique hotel

You will be in a quiet relaxed neighborhood. The free shuttle service which drops you off and picks you up within a 5km radius makes life so easy as this includes Sandton mall. 300m from the hotel is a small shopping mall with lovely restaurants. You can take a stroll or if it’s too dark you can just take the free shuttle.The hotel is just so peaceful and you can have drinks nicely relaxed on the pool. Those who travel for medical reasons the Medi Clinic is close by. Depending on your condition you could walk there exercising or still take a free shuttle.

The lady that checked me out at the reception was in a faul mood, she never bothered to ask the basic service question \"was everything ok\". I said goodbye twice and she simply ignored me. After checking in i realised my room was not at the 4 star standard i expected and asked to be moved. I had to pay extra R600 so as to get a better room which was also not 4 star rating because the woodwn toilet seat are wearing off from moisture. This additional amount was asked of me despite the hotel being completely under booked for the weekend. My wife and i have subsequently made the decision that we would not be staying over ever again in future.

Wonderful hotel!

Precious Dube and Nonkulueko Sithole were especially helpful in changing my flights. The breakfast was wonderful and we enjoyed heaving drinks and cigars by the pool.

Nice hotel within Sandton

Nice and secure area, no major issues. Will require transport though to get around easily. Shuttle bus alleviates this somewhat as they provide service to Gautrain and Sandton City.

We really enjoyed our stay, although some other guests were quite noisy between 04H00-05h00 in the mornings. There was no plug for the wash basin and while we could have called reception I still believe it should have been there in the first place- South Africa is a water scarce country. Both mornings we had to wait for a griller during breakfast. All these irritations are minor and can be easily corrected - I hope it will as it would be a shame if a place with so much potential suffers due to shortsighted issues.

Check in was quick. The room I got had no view as it was under the stairs on the far end of the hotel. There is nothing on the walking distance though they have shuttle but you have to wait 20+ minutes after requesting the shuttle. Sandton Train station is about 15 minutes drive from the hotel. I constantly had WIFI problem. The signal was dropping a lot. I requested to fix it they try but the problem was not resolved. Breakfast was basic but restaurant servers was great. Another issue I had which was not fixed during my stay was the water leak from the shower screen. The water was leaking in the bathroom and eventually going on the carpet. I have to soak the water after every shower using towel. I was ordering food every nigh in my room. GPS show hotel on the main street while entrance is from Longdon Avenue. Delivery guys were confused every night and they have to call to find the hotel. I stayed for 4 days.

A Gem in Rivonia

I would definitely stay again. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff friendly and the food good. The free WiFi is a wonderful added extra, as well as the movie channels. The bed is comfortable, the water pressure superb and the hairdryer mounted on the wall an added benefit. There was always hot water when i needed a shower. Room service, aircon and a quick response to your queries and requests. My only complaints are that there are only 5 undercover parking (in a place like JHB with hail this is stressful as you worry you car will be damaged - carports would fix this), no shelf in the shower to put you toiletries on while you shower and a shower head that can remove body parts.

Great Hotel! The staff were very professional and hospitable. After my check-in, they greeted the members of my party by name every time one of us entered the reception area. The shuttle service gas great. They will take you anywhere in a 2 mile radius of the hotel, which includes Mandela Square Mall and the train station, then they will also pick you up. You can also take the train from the airport, the call the hotel to send the shuttle to pick you up.

If you like Beverly Hills

Don't book this without a car. It is 7km from the train station, and while they do have a free shuttle, if you want to go anywhere in Johannesburg, this is very inconvenient. A taxi from the train station to this hotel is expensive, as this is essentially the Beverly Hills of Jozi. So if you want to learn anything about this city, don't stay here. Also, the front reception staff was totally humorless. But this is normal of hotel staff in Joburg, at least from my experience. These things said, the breakfast was excellent.

Comfortable classy hotel with excellent staff

I felt instantly at home and comfortable. Staff were attentive and efficient. Room was large, comfortably furnished, clean and inviting. Lovely bed linen and towels. Good television, lighting and convenient desk for computer work. Only problem overall was shower screen leaked water copiously over the bathroom floor; when just the tub was used, water still somehow spilled onto the floor. Room service fast; food well prepared and tasty; delivered quickly and nice and hot. Breakfast buffet excellent with eggs to order very good and speedily prepared.

Very comfortable hotel near Sandton Centre

I spent one night at the Faircity Falstaff hotel before a long flight home. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable and I really enjoyed the king-sized super comfy bed and new, fluffy towels. I did find the panel of lights at the front door rather confusing but certainly not an issue.

The grilled steak at dinner in the Sel Dining Room was delicious and the cooked breakfast the following morning excellent. The wait staff on both occasions were friendly and efficient.

I used the shuttle bus from the OR Tambo Airport to the hotel and return. I also used the courtesy shuttle bus from Sandton Train Station to the hotel. The driver was punctual and polite on each occasion.

I enjoyed my stay at the Faircity Falstaff Hotel and look forward to a return visit soon.

The hotel is very nice and not too far from Nelson Mandela Square. However, the service is lacking for the kind of boasting they do about the hotel. The porter was fantastic!! But, the service at the Front Desk and the restaurant is lacking. I had trouble securing transportation on more than one occasion and the staff seemed disinterested. The service from the restaurant was also lacking. The manager of the restaurant was great but the wait staff needs more training especially the staff in the morning and the food was just OK. One morning I went for breakfast( which I had paid for in advance) and the lady told me I was late and could not eat!! (it was only like 10:05 and the breakfast ends at 10:00). If they are going to say they are a four star then they need to work on their Customer Service.

Nice Hotel in quite part of Johannesburg. The Hotel shuttle that runs within 5 kilometers of the hotel makes life easier. Staff, breakfast and the rooms in general are good. The adapters the hotel uses were not compatible to my Universal adapter.

Comfortable stay in Johannesburg

I had only a 24 hrs Transit in Jo burg and wanted to profit to see something of the City and go Shopping. The Hotel is very Close to Nelson Mandela Square, but you cannot walk there. Thank God they offer an hourly shuttle to the mall. The Hotel is elegant, light and has a very nice style. I like the pool area. The staff is friendly but has a littel too much Routine. Also they have private talks at the reception and on the phone, which is slightly Irritating and even surprising - a sing of lack of professionality. The breakfast was very nice. I didn't figure out if \"Faircity\" means that they have a Fair Trade Approach or if they are fair in any other official (labeled/ registered) way. I can recommend the Faircity Falstaff.

I was disappointed by the service we received on arrival. The TV in our room was not working and on reporting this to the Front Desk we were told it could only be rectified the next day. There were insufficient towels and slippers in the room. I was surprised because presumably it's a 4 star hotel. They did keep some items we forgot in the room for us to collect later which was good.

I requested a room with a shower, got a room with a bathroom that flooded every time I used the shower in the tub (water damage and black mould). Requested another room, was told there wasn't one, given a cheese plate. Second stay, asked for a room with shower even if it costs more. I was given room next door. Both rooms were below expectation, I won't stay there again and won't recommend it to anyone I care about.

Great hotel with great price

Stayed at hotel for 5 days and took advantage of shuttle service to Sandton mall and local shopping center. We rented a car also which made it easier to get around. The price is great for what you get including free continental breakfast, shuttle service, clean comfortable room, and an excellent/friendly staff.

The service does not do justice to the hotel

I spent eight days at the hotel and am sad to have to give a lower rating for an hotel that has so much going for it. It is beautiful and peaceful, in an excellent location, with a very convenient shuttle service. It should have been perfect, but there were just too many little things wrong and nothing happened when I reported it to the front desk, in every instance twice over a period of up to three days. I did not notice the mechanism for reporting directly to the various departments at first and saw no instructions. Once I found that out and reported it a third time, corrective action was taken. The curtain in my room was hanging partly off the rail when I arrived, looking very tatty. The television remote did not work. Even a case of food poisoning got no response from management. The overall service is very friendly, but lacks the professional edge one would expect from an hotel that was clearly intended to operate in a sophisticated category.

Really good stay but the location is not for me

My only negatives would be:
Tight parking
Traffic to my meetings in Sandhurst- with Sandton traffic now severely affected by building work, I wasted time getting across to the south side. In future I will select accommodation to the south of the Faircity locations. I would recommend the Falstaff to guests on business in the northern half of Sandton

The best breakfast I've has in a hotel. Perfectly made eggs, Rye bread, fresh espresso coffee and very good side dishes. Just wish the staff wouldn't hang around yelling and talking loud.one staff lady was sitting on the bench early morning and was yelling on the phone for a full 20 mins. Could ask the staff to take their private calls off site

This hotel was in a great area and we loved our stay. We used the airport shuttle and our driver was great. There is a free shuttle to the train station. From this location you can walk to some great restaurants. We only stayed one night but wish we could have stayed longer.

Bad Managing - Staff doing what they want!

We checked in. The welcome was fine, but I was ask if they could take an imprint of my credit card, I refused as a security risk.Room had not been aired was dark and stuffy, nobody to help with luggage, receptionist helped! We don't drink instant coffee & requested a coffee machine, when brought, didn't work, this was replaced. The bed had no top sheet & the duvet cover was torn. The turndown service was not being done properly, no Chocs, mat or slippers at side of the bed. Guest Relation Mgr. was contact before sorted. What a difference, but why is this not all the time. Faircity Group seems to have problem staff. To get help with the Aircon I had to wait 30mins to bring my issues to their notice as all management were in a meeting, so I am less important than their meeting. Absolutely no management were on the floor Isee why there are problems. One morning the gardener was washing down the bricks with a hose JHB has drought restrictions.We were offered a dinner to placate us but that was also absolutely disgusting. I am sorry for the Chef running the restaurant \"La Petit Sel!\" as I know that greasy onion rings and loads of chips are not his style. They explained that the menu was shortened but it was the bar menu there were toasted sandwiches etc. My steak came medium,I requested rare & partners calamari was rubbery & the veg over cooked. Breakfast ok Better to close the restaurant in the Dec/Jan months & only offer breakfast. Shame, the hotel is comfortable.

Clean and well equipped room. Quiet neighborhood. Everything went well except the staff at check in were not aware of how online booking works. I was forced to pay again yet I had prepaid my online booking. Got refund at checkout.

Nice and quiet...

Nice and quiet... Staff are friendly, place is clean. Downside is you gotta have a car to get to and fro.

This is considered a 4Star ...I have never understood hotel ratings, IMO this is a good 3-Star hotel if you put it against Premier Inn etc.

Not a place I will really tell my friends about

Was booked in at another hotel of the same group only to be sent to this place at arrival at the Qaurtermain. The staff at this hotel were extremely friendly and the breakfasts were great. This is where it ended as the room service was pathetic and food on menu was horrible to say the least. It seems no single Hotel in South Africa besides the Taj in Cape Town knows what a turn down service is, as they ALL either neglect it, doesn't do it properly or just treat it as a quick little halfway thing with no properly laid out the foot carpets with slippers etc. This place fitted exactly into that category

A nice hotel, too far from the airport

Staff were friendly and helpful, thankfully there was help with the luggage as there are a few flights of stairs depending which room you stayed in.
Aircon and fridge were not working well in the room, was cooler to open the windows. When I checked the fridge to see if it was plugged in ok, I saw a pair of socks that were behind the cabinet left from some other
guest before me.
The room was comfortable, had everything you needed for a stopover. The shower screen unfortunately moved while I was showering so flooded the bathroom floor, thankfully I realised and pulled it back so did not reach the carpet.
Breakfast was adequate, you are able to order eggs so they are cooked fresh. Everything you need to start the day.
I stayed thinking the hotel was closer to the airport, unfortunately it is 20 to 30min, however that is driving on motorways so you must have an etag. Shuttle service is available but very expensive due to the distance.
