The Roppongi S Hotel was a fantastic choice for my stay. The hotel itself is stylish and well-maintained, and my room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, offering everything I needed for a relaxing visit. The modern amenities and thoughtful design made it a pleasure to come back to after a day of exploring.

However, I can’t give a full five stars for Services due to an issue with the luggage delivery service. When I signed up, I was given incorrect information about the delivery time for my baggage. Unfortunately, I had packed medication in my bags based on the details provided, and the delay caused me to miss a dose. This was a significant inconvenience and could have been avoided with more accurate communication.

That said, the rest of my experience was excellent, and the hotel’s overall quality is undeniable. With a bit more attention to detail in their service communication, Roppongi S Hotel could easily earn a perfect rating.

Great Stay in Early Spring

Highly Recommend this property - Our room was \"American\" sized, plenty of space to put luggage and clothes with 2 closets. The bathroom was large [included a washer/dryer] and the shower/bath area was huge. Bedding was light and comfortable, the AC worked perfect, and it was nice to be able to open the windows in the evening to let the breeze in.

I chose the Japanese-style room which made my stay experience so much better. Room is beautifully-decorated in wood furnishing and ameneties are provided with great details. Hotel has a restaurant so it is very convenient for late arrival or coming back late from a bus tour. Hotel location is right next to Roppongi Hills which offers various high-end shopping and dining experience.

Too expensive for what you get

The hotel has a nice lobby and restaurant; but our room (patio room) was poorly maintained. Small, cramped with furniture, high steps to go to the bathroom and shower area and a lot of dry walls splitting areas, as if they tried to build a room there but didn’t work well. The room was dirty, sticky hairdryer, splashes on dry walls in the bathroom, and sticky smears on bedroom sink area. The walls in bathrooms and showers had stains, scratches and cracks (dry wall cracks). Horrible functionality, no hooks to hang towels by the bathroom sink, so we left towels sitting on the small sink counter. When we came in the fridge wasn’t working, we had to figure it out how to turn it on. The AC doesn’t have any instruction in English and the translator did not work well, so an information sheet on how to use the AC in English would be helpful. Breakfast was average, we had better ones from other hotels. Service was odd, we would be waiting in line and people would cut in front of us and the front desk clerks wouldn’t say anything, but once they were done with a customer they wouldn’t even recognize we were there waiting. We were confused several times. The room didn’t have any lotion, they had some small facial serums but no body lotions, and they offered two sets of robes per person, one silky, waste of space and we would had preferred the sleeping gowns like in other hotels. Incredible. No seriously, INCREDIBLE.

My wife and I visited Japan for our honeymoon for two weeks and couldn’t be more impressed with this hotel and its staff. Atiro and Nao were incredibly helpful and friendly. The food in the restaurant was amazing and the bartender made some of the best cocktails I’ve ever tasted. I can’t recommend this place enough. We loved it so much we booked several more nights. I’m not being hyperbolic, this establishment is one of a kind.

All was good until the last day. Made a booking for a taxi transfer to the airport. I think the staff on was not so fluent in English and our communication resulted in me missing my connection home because I was sent to the wrong airport and ended up with a $600 taxi ride. I think in future, the staff would do better by insisting on seeing a flight booking before making a taxi booking and reconfirming that they had made the write booking on the day itself. Accidents happen and this was a costly mistake for both parties.

The room was very dark and windowless (there was a window but fully tinted and covered with light block shades.

Also this hotel is at the bottom of the hill to both train stations so be prepared for a 10 min walk up hill to catch either station.

Favorite hotel from the trip

Pros:
Near lots of restaurants and mall
Cool jazzy vibe. The neighborhood is kind of multi-national too, possibly because some embassies are close by.
Quite rooms owing to good insulation.
Restaurant has some dedicated vegetarian options on the menu, which is super rare in Japan and further speaks to the international feel of the area.
Decent breakfast. It's just a little breakfast buffet, but a tasty one with non-fish options.

Cons:
Some rooms have a clothes washing machine, and some don't. And they don't give you any indication of whether you will get one in advance. Which is annoying if you were expecting one based on the hotels.com description.
No view to speak of.
Japan standard room sizes, which means about half the size of American hotels.

Overall, if I go to Tokyo again, this will be my first choice.

Nice stay near Roppongi station

Stayed in this hotel for a business trip. The location is very convenient (near the station, there’s a conveniece store in a less than a minute walk), the rooms are clean and “big” (comparing with the standard room size in Tokyo) the decoration is modern and nice. Overall a very plaising stay.

Biggest disappointment in Japan.

The hotel is located just beneath a highway bridge so you feel like your in Bangkok. And expect at least 10 minutes walk (up the hill) to each of the two nearest subway stations.
The hotel is not clean and maintained as we got used to in Japan (stained carpet, dust, dirty curtains, lights are not working) so you feel more like in India.
We got first a room in the second floor which is facing the AC shaft that makes a lot of noise. Next day they moved us to the fifth floor same horrible designed and maintained room. With the plastic prefabricated bathroom that makes you feel like in a trailer. When you open the bathroom door it clashes with the closet and the window still faces the AC shaft and can’t be opened.
And the price outrageously high for what you get. There are so many other better options in Tokyo.

Amazing stay at Hotel S. The staff was so friendly and very accommodating. We switched rooms to the “Ren Room” for a night (which I highly recommend) and they moved our bags for us and gave us a modest gift! The rooms are very clean, with a modern twist on traditional Japanese style. It is a quick walk to the metro too! It is very quiet despite being adjacent to a busy street. Can’t beat this deal!

We paid for a \"De luxe\" room in a 4 * hotel and it was rather little. The bathroom access has an uncomfortable high step in the entrance. At the other hand, the workers were very efficient and the zone is fantastic, as Tokyo in general.

Ideal location. The Roppongi neighborhood offers plenty of shops and restaurants. IMO it is centrally located if you enjoy walking eastward as far as to Tokyo Tower, Imperial Gardens and westward towards Shibuya and Shinjiku.

It was the first time we visited Japan. We stayed 1 week at the hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is small but beautiful and the rooms are very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a comvenience store just one block from the hotel. The metro station is located 5 minutes away from the hotel if you walk. The area feels very secure to walk even at night, and it is very close to a shopping mall called Roppongi Hills which is full of stores and places to eat. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again when I come back to Tokyo

The hotel had a really bad odor (maybe a leak with mold). They had to move our room 4 times!! It was really not a pleasant experience considering the cost per night.

Additionally, when we would ask for recommendations for food, the man at the front desk completely disregarded and gave us no suggestions.

Great location with easy access to great restaurants, short bus ride to Shibuya, short walk to Hibiya & Chiyoda subway lines. Room size was better than average for Tokyo. Comfortable room. Provided range of pillows.
Inconsistent housekeeping service. The shower had a structural beam running through that made it difficult to shower standing upright. Watch out for the drop off the front steps. Carpets in room need cleaning.

Nice, clean, comfortable hotel, conveniently located close to the metro and Roppongi hills or Mori tower. There are many restaurants around. The room and staff were great, however, the cleaning staff made a ton of noise every day at 5:30 am. My room faced the road which was very noisy as well, so the windows were not very well insulated. It's great but not so much if the priority is rest.

Walking distance from the Roppongi train station, Shibuya street and Tokyo tower. Everything was conveniently close, I had an amazing time at this hotel and the rooms were extremely cozy and relaxing. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful when asked for directions. We stayed at Roppongi Hotel for four nights at the end of a 3 week holiday around Japan. Roppongi itself is a great area, however the hotel is on a very Main Street with a high level freeway above. The hotel room 'with a view' we were given was located on the 5th (of 6) floors, the view was of a neighbouring building 1.5m away. The room was small by Tokyo standards, the bed was hard, and the pillows were traditional (solid) or flat. The bathroom was on a high platform (note: big step up) in the room, the water pressure and hot water in the shower was non-existent. The cleaners cupboard was right outside our room and you could hear everything in that corridor through day and night as clear as day. The hotel staff although polite were reluctant to offer any assistance to improve our stay.

Designer hotel located away from the main strip of Roppongi and just beyond Roppongi Hills. The room configuration was Japanese-like in a modern way and with all the amenities required for a comfortable stay. Note that the washing room and bathroom were a bit small and the location against window made the room very damp and cold during the night.

Nice, clean hotel close to shopping and restaurant

It was my first visit to Tokyo and the hotel is accessible from the Narita airport by train exit Ropponggi Hills. Going back to the airport we took a limousine shuttle from the nearby Grand Hyatt. The fare is double the train ticket but worth the convenience of not going through the stairways of the subways. The hotel staff gladly helped us booking the reservation 24 hours prior to departure.

Pipes in the bathroom smell majorly. Asked to switch rooms and they ended up just cleaning my pipes and asking me if that helped. I just sucked it up but would not stay here again simply because the room smells and all my stuff smelled like the pipes by the end of the trip.

Nice hotel in convenient location. Only issue I had was that the cleaners did not take the trash out of my room, and by the time I left I had a mountain of it in and around the tiny bin. As this place has serviced apartments and no room service, I would obviously have a lot more empty food & drink containers than normal. Cleaners only made the beds and basically left everything else for me to do.

This hotel was fine, but I was expecting it to be nicer given the price and prior reviews. The room was not as tiny as in other Japanese hotels I stayed at (there was space for small chair and a small but usable work area), but was still small. The decor tries to be hip and modern, but the overall effect is still a bit gloomy due to the dim lighting and scarcity of natural light. The free wifi worked well. I did not try the breakfast.

I guess you are paying for the location when you stay here, but if I were back in this area I would make an attempt to find a better value.

This place was completely overpriced. Our hotel rooms carpet was disgusting. It looked like there were stains from where someone threw up off the side of the bed. This hotel looks Nice from the outside but inside really it's dimly lit stylish facade is just to keep you from being able to see the filth. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. For the price I was expecting a nice sleek hotel in the heart of rappongi. I was completely disappointed. The only positive I can say is that the hotel staff was nice and they all seamed to be able to speak very good English.

Great area. Fantastic lobby/exterior presentation. Wifi was poor in or room but we were given a separate router which sorted it all out perfectly. Very comfortable bed. Bigger than standard Tokyo room. Superb location for three metro stations. Perfect Tokyo visitor hotel. A little gem.

Quiet hotel near Roppongi station

My daughter and I stayed here to help her get settled into her apartment for study abroad. Her apartment was actually on the next block from the hotel. So it was very convenient for us. We were surprised that there was no ramp for rolling our luggage up and down from/to the sidewalk. Fortunately, there are only four shallow stairs. We saw many international visitors in the area. Roppongi train station is about a 10-min walk away in Roppongi Hills shopping center. There is a Family Mart convenience store on the next block. If you like chocolate, Max Brenner is about a 15- to 20-min walk away. The one area I would complain about this hotel is the bathroom. First, it smelled musty/moldy when we went in there. So we left the vent on and the door ajar, which helped. Second, it could use more storage for toiletries. Third, the shower head holder is very low, I'm 5'3\", and the water was hitting my chest. So I had to hunch down to douse my head. If you are going to be using the metro and/or bus often, I recommend getting a Pasmo card (available from any train station) or a Suica card (available only at JR stations). Both can be reloaded when you are low. You can even use these cards to pay for some things like a cab fare or items at the convenience store.

Nice hotel, modern and well equipped

Only downside was my stay was the not to friendly staff who told me check out was at 11 am but I could have a late check out till one pm if I paid 3500 yen per hour. That's like almost half of the room rate I paid for a twin room.

Just for this I would not go back.

Location was good and room was comfortable. Just no extras

Great and will be back

It is on the more of residential side of Tokyo metropolitan.
The boutique hotel brings home away from home.
It is near the Omotesando and I usually takes 15-20 minutes to walk to and appreciated the nearby scenery. Although the nearby metro station also might takes 15 minutes, the walking surely makes up for that.
I had a great stay that truly gave me enough boost to get back to the \"real world\".
