Horrible experience. Mattress was more like a piece of plywood. Absolutely no cush at all. Bathroom was so small that my legs hit the door when sitting on the toilet. Tokyo hotels are small, but APA Hotel has nothing like this. Slippers required an insole and smelled sweaty. This is the worst hotel I’ve experienced in Tokyo.

This was our first hotel on our first trip to Japan. The staff was very kind and helpful. The breakfast buffet was simple and tasty. Also it was open very early which is helpful for tourists with early sleep schedules.

The Subway is a 5 minute walk, and along the way are plenty of places to eat.

The room was small but had everything we could ever need.

The stay was affordable and budget-friendly compared to other rentals in the area. I was pleased with staff and found them friendly and helpful with the check-in/out process. With that said, our unit was rather cramped and dingy. There were scuff marks on the wall. Lights are bright and fluorescent. Reminds me of college dorm life in the US-- not very welcoming or comfortable, but it did the job.

This hotel was the first hotel I stayed in Japan. I’m very glad to say it was the right choice, however my only criticism is the cleanliness of the rooms and building. Other than that this hotel is a brilliant place to stay in. You can walk to mid-town Tokyo and the Chiyoda line. A perfect place to stay as a tourist!

Stayed at Akasaka Yoko Hotel and had a great experience overall! The staff and fellow guests were very friendly, making it a welcoming place to stay. The location is fantastic—amazing walking distance to multiple stations yet still in a quiet area, which we loved. Rooms are quite small, but they were fine for our needs. The only downside was the breakfast; we tried it for two mornings but found better options outside for the rest of our stay. Despite that, we had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it—5/5!

The reception personnel were kind, however we were stuck in a smoking room which reeked of stale tobacco. The room is small, but good enough for a one night stay. If you’re planning a longer stay, there are better options closer to Roppongi that you should consider. There isn’t an especially close train station, so expect to walk there from Tokyo midtown or take a cab. The walk will be a challenge if you have more than one piece of luggage.

Less than 50 USD a night all told including taxes. Twin size bed and an absolutely tiny shower for a western man. Centrally located about 7 minutes walk to Akasaka station and 15 minutes walk to Roppongi station. Service was good.

No english tv channels/news, fridge is very small and not that cold, given non-smoking room but it seems people could smoke in the hallways and in the lobby because the smell would come into the room and if you walk through the lobby it stank of cigarettes. Nice clean room otherwise. Pillows are too soft. Have to walk further to a different entrance to the metro station that has an escalator if you have luggage. The closest entance/exit to the metro is lots of stairs - not good if you have luggage.

Good business hotel. Rooms are very small but this is standard in Tokyo. Area is great. This hotel will not let you check in till 3pm and make you check out at 10am. They are very strict about This and will charge you if you overstay. Many hotels in the area will let you check in at 2pm and out at 11am. Everything works and is clean. Ok stay for a few nights.

My stay at Akasaka was definitely a pleasant experience especially for the value of this hotel. My friend and I choose the deluxe twin option and the room was nice a roomy, clean, and comfortable. The room has lots of lights everywhere which made the room very homey and bright. The hotel does not have cooling air conditioning which we were informed upright at the very beginning of our stay, the hosts advised if the room gets too hot to just open a window to cool the room off. Thankfully we stayed in the hotel in late January- early February so its was pretty chilly outside. Cant say how well this will work in the spring or summertime but most places in Japan do not typically have a form of AC. I'm not going to sugarcoat it, the free WiFi is not good. Better off using the free 2g provided by your carrier but if you don't have that, the WiFi will work decently. The room has a television with local channels. The bathrooms are decently sized and the toilet is in a separate room from the shower room (which was great because my roommate could take care of business while I showered). The room is serviced daily around 11am from what we noticed, so try to avoid staying past that time if you dont want to be greeted by the staff. The area is nice as there are many convenience stores near by as well as a few shops. The main subways are about 5-10 minute walks depending on which lines you take so carry light. Also the hotel provides 1 free bottled water per guest per day. Stay hydrated!

5 minute cab ride from Roppongi's hottest bars and clubs. There's a lot of nice restaurants in the hotel's street, and two 24/7 convenience stores. It's also a 5 minute walk from the train station. The location of this hotel is perfect! The rooms are very small, but cozy and nice. They have everything you need when it comes to toiletries. I stayed in a double twin bed smoking room, we had a TV, radio, a/c, window, and a mini fridge. For the price, this place was exactly what we were looking for!

Apart from the convenient location and the friendly hotel staff this hotel was disappointing. Don't be fooled by a relatively nice looking entrance. Exiting the elevator to your floor you are met by dirty looking carpeting. The room also looked in bad shape. The walls didn't look clean (lots of marks from rubbing suitcases against walls), the duvet cover looked dirty (using a white one that gets washed regularly would be a better option than a golden one that never gets washed or that is hard to clean) and there were greasy finger prints on the TV.
Moreover, the bathroom, one of those plastic pods often found in hotel rooms in Japan or Korea did not have a good ventilation. The stinky smell from other bathrooms got into it and it constantly smelled like a sewer.
Regarding internet connection, each room had a separate password which is good, but the internet speed was very slow and skype was hardly functional.

Nice and quiet hotel.

This hotel is located in a classy, and not too busy town. There are plenty of shops and fine restaurants all along the pavements. 7-11 is just 2 doors away and Akasaka Station about 600m away. The whole area had a pleasant and laid back feel about it. It is very easy to travel to Shinanomachi where I visit the SGI Centre daily.

I had a single room without the breakfast option. Best thing about this hotel is the location; very central midtown location that allows you to travel around Tokyo quite easily. A coin laundry was also available. The negative point for me was the bed and pillow; so hard that I couldn't sleep well at all.

We've been to small hotel rooms before and this is on the small side of small. It's functional and we got everything we need (mini fridge, desk included. Iron/steamer not included) but like most things in Japan, the rooms here are catered to smaller framed people. The sink overhangs the tub and my knees brush against the door when sitting on the throne (I'm average height in NA). The tight washroom and its fit and finish remind me of airplane facilities so much that after a long flight and when I first entered the washroom, I got the sea-legs as if I'm back on a plane. No joke. Surprisingly though, instead of the slightly-smaller-than-double-bed double beds popular there, we got what feels like a slightly-larger-than-double-bed double bed. More than enough for a medium husband and small wife.

Like most things in Japan, hotel is kept clean and with daily room keeping. Staff is courteous and front desk is helpful. We could leave our luggage with them even after checking out (check out is earlier at 10AM) and they even provide you tags for retrieving them (great for camera/laptop bags). You get a free bottle of water each night as well in case you don't have time to pick up something during the day (in the lobby honor system). Front desk staff are also mostly friendly. We bugged them quite a bit and they didn’t kick us out.

All in all, didn't expect much given the price point but overall, quite a pleasant experience. I wouldn't ask for more.

This was the first time I'd visited Tokyo so despite research I was still unsure of areas that are good to stay. Despite favourable reviews of Akasaka Yoko I took a chance with this place and was certainly rewarded as it's was great.

The price was fantastic for a twin room. The hotel room has everything you could possible need to make your stay comfortable! There is a wifi router in the room so your signal doesn't drop at all. The bathroom was a good size and (like the rest of the room) cleaned daily. Plus a fresh kimono everyday is something I'm going to miss!

The staff were very friendly, polite and welcoming throughout the stay. We were actually allowed to check in a few hours early which was a relief after almost 24 hours without sleep!

The location of the hotel, in Akasaka, is a great place to be based in. It is one of the cities central business districts. Don't let this put you off though as there's a shopping centre near by with plenty of cheapish eats in. There's a few lively high streets near by but nothing to cause a bad nights sleep! There is a 7-eleven convenience store practically next door also.

Honestly I have no complaints about the hotel. I loved my stay in Tokyo; it's truly an incredible city to visit. The Akasaka Yoko Hotel (and it's staff) certainly played a huge part in making it a comfortable place to return to at the end of each day!

The bathroom has been completely renewed. The staff at the desk went out of his way to check the prices for parking nearby. The hotel also has parking but very limited. Many great restaurants nearby. Right in the middle of Akasaka, so very easy to get around all of Tokyo using the subway system.

SMALL ROOM

I booked this hotel because the description said the room was big enough for 3 people. I was traveling from Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara, and was really tired of small rooms and bathrooms, so my last days of the trip, I wanted something more roomy. The room looked nothing like what the picture right next to the descriptions of the room. I booked this room a couple days before the check in thinking that I will pay a little more for a bigger room. But it was actually the smallest out of all the hotels we stayed in Japan. I even double checked with the front desk asking them if it was the room that I booked online. They said yes even though it looked nothing like the picture I saw online. There was maybe one foot space in front of the beds. Bathroom sink was so awkwardly placed, half inside the shower. Bath tub was slightly bigger than any other ones we stayed in Japan, and there's a refridge in the lobby where the guests can take a water bottle a day as well as any other extra hotel supplies if you need more. I thought that was a nice gesture. Front desk people spoke English just fine. We didn't get a cleaning service but they left all the extra towels and supplies in a plastic bag and left in front of the door. I guess that's the norm in Japan. I don't think the rooms get cleaned very thoroughly though, when I checked in, there were hair everywhere in the bathroom.

A simple guy giving a review

Just to be clear, I'm an American man, I'm blue collar guy, and I am simple. In other words, it doesn't take much to please me. This was my second time staying in this Hotel. I liked it so much, that I decided to stay in it again. I stayed in this hotel for 10 days as a personal vacation. The room is the typical size of a Japanese Hotel room. The room was clean of course when I arrived. The room had Air Conditioning. I know I read reviews on this Hotel previously, and one of the main things people complained about was no A/C. So everything turned out better than expected for me. Also they installed magnetic key cards and locks on the doors, which is convenient for space in my pockets when I go out. The staff is always friendly to me, when I pass by the front desk, they remember me and always greet me. This Hotel is located in a good neighborhood (although I don't think Tokyo has any \"bad\" neighborhoods...) There is a Tokyo Metro Subway station a few blocks away on the same street as the hotel. There are several places to eat in the neighborhood and there are plenty of Family Marts, Seven Elevens, and Lawson's in the area as well. If you like bars and the nightlife, Roppongi is a few subway stations away, or a 10 minute taxi ride away. Also I'm an avid jogger, and I found a park with a jogging path that is also just a few blocks away. I really have nothing bad to say about this hotel. And if I get the chance, I will stay in this hotel once again.

Hotel was very close to the subway station. Staff was very friendly and spoke great English. The room was about average size and was expected of a Japanese hotel. A/C worked great. There were some great restaurants within walking distance as well as a 7-11 and Lawsons.
But the restroom was very small, as expected of a Japanese hotel.
