I booked non smoking room but was put into smoking room. I am not a smoker and it was a critical issue. Also room needs renovation, I have pictures of pilled painting on the ceilings, broken night stand lamp, rusted toilet paper holder, broken garbage can.

A lovely stay.

We stayed 2 nights at the hotel, its a great location, Basmane railway station (which we used one day for a trip to Selçuk) is directly opposite and it is ideal for walking to the seafront and to visit lots of the famous sights.
Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable with coffee, tea and water provided with a kettle for drinks.
There are good restaurants/cafes near by which we used and would recommend.
We would book again.

We found the hotel clean, however some cleaning could’ve been done better. We found one of the hotel slippers used and stuffed in its place bag. There is sewage backup stinge in the bathroom. Other than the stay was pleasant and the breakfast was good.

Rooms are good in size. Location is excellent. Toilet's ventilation doesn't work properly. Breakfast selection and quality is very poor. Breakfast finished at 10:30. We went for the breakfast at 9:30. Most of the breakfast items were finished. We asked them to refill the item. But the staff said,they don't have any more.

Over all it is accepted for such a value of money, the reception guys are very helpful and kind, the location is great. The chaquizy tube is not working Two things that I didnt like in this hotele are
1- its very noisy, because its in the heart of the city center
2- The staff of the breakfast restueant are not freindly and not helpful at all.
So tue hotel admenistration has to talk to them to be more cooperative with guists.

Excellent value, quality and location, but noisy.

We had to find a hotel close to the station after our train was cancelled. This was a perfect location. Room is excellent, but very, very noisy. Noise and vibration from the underground trains well into the early hours, massive traffic noise and calls to prayer all contributed to a lack of sleep. Breakfast was at 7am but we had to leave earlier to get the train so cannot comment. Restaurant next door not bad, but little more than a basic kebab/fast food place. Helpful and polite staff in the hotel, a lovely room, great value for money but I would not stay there again because of the noise issue.

1. Rooms are NOT non-smoking . Every room has an ashtray, and reeks of heavy past smoking. 2. Breakfast is sparse during the week. There was no milk or creamer for example, and the attendants were not willing to find me some. 3. Most rooms look over a busy street. It’s just very noisy. 4. There’s only 1 wifi router per floor (or per 2 floors). Depending on your room, you may not get any reception at all. I switched rooms, and still has issues. 5. The staff is nice and are willing to accommodate you as much as they can. They can’t magically remove smoke residue from rooms however.

I loved the Hamam! I also liked the breakfast location and view. I selected this hotel because of the pictures but the images did not match reality.
- they said that the staff spoke English. That was iffy
-the thing that bothered me the most was that there was dog or cat poop on the stairs and it took them 4 days to clean it up. Maybe the first time they did not understand me. But the second day i showed a staff member but it was still there the next day... i really dont know why...

The room was ok... the shower was not great... and did not always get hot.

The sheets were nice and cleaned daily.

The air conditioner did work well.

It was not expensive so... maybe it was ok for the money....

The hotel is good with good location. Staff are abit rude as they dont help when you ask e.g. asked at counter for iron and lady was rude and angry that i disturbed her. Breakfast time asked for scrambled egg and she frowned. But overall the hotel is good.

Generally liked the hotel - even extended my stay - but, WiFi was very weak, sometimes worked, sometimes didn't, every day the room card had to be renewed at the reception and the \"spa\"/sauna experience was a bit weird (spa staff ate their lunch in the public area, and i'd generally prefer to be left alone while visiting the sauna). BUT: Hotel staff was friendly, breakfast was great.

I stayed for 9 nights. The staff did not talk English and could not answer our questions properly. I had cup bought from San Francisco. The staff thought it was for the hotel and took it out of our room and finally lost it! The area was very very crowded. There was no sound isolated window and we suffered all the nights. Also air conditioner smelled !! Also there were cockroaches in the bathroom!!

Reasonable price for the quality

It is a nice hotel overall. The main positive point you would see if you stay there is the staff. They are really kind and helpful and I have not seen like them during my stays in Turkey. This was a really good experience for us. Coming to breakfast, it was not for four star hotel! Do not expect so much variety. It has a nice view of a hill which is special at night. The rooms are convenient but due to locating at the corner of an intersection, it was really noisy. It had a Turkish bath for free, as the staff said. However we did not use it!

The hotel was in a good location, opposite the train station. The sauna and jacuuzi was basically not usable as it was turned off. The breakfast was very basic and very low quality. The quality of the rooms need great improvement. The rooms were not clean at all. I just don't know what kind of a 4 star hotel this is. The receptionists hardly spoke any English.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all

Rooms are big, but the fact that previous customers were smoking like chimneys made it smell like cigarett, no matter how long you keep window open.
The window couldnt be closed properly, so we couldnt get rid of the outside noise.
Not recommended for couples or families. The hotel is designed for single guys I guess

The breakfast was exellent but the other food was poor because there was a language barrier so when we ordered something even when pointing at the menu they got it totally wrong. The rooms were clean & comfortable but the windows werent sealed so our bed sounded like it was out in the middle of the road. Never heard noise like it.

Be careful with every detail you fill when you are booking!

The hotel wants to charge you extra whenever they can!!! Although this experience was part of my fault. Me and my boyfriend two were traveling to Izmir and booked this hotel. Somehow I filled one adult instead of two, but we only needed one room. But the hotel wanted me to charge me a fee equal to an extra room because of this. BE CAREFUL!!!

Could be very good...

...but...the open pipe in the bathroom floor which made a stench that had us running for the balcony door is not a 4 star attribute. We found a loose tile meant to cover the drain pipe had been left off. Why the stench? There is no trap in the line to capture the sewer smell. To make matters worse, the fan in the bathroom was not working. It was irritating that there was no soap, just empty boxes.

Back to the balcony, a great idea, right? Except for two AC units located to one side producing a lot of hot air.

The very \"cold\" lighting in the room could easily be improved. Wifi was a little wonky. That needs to be amped up.

On the positive side, other than the initial smell, the room was clean and consideration was given to guests' needs and comforts. The TV was good and cable news seemed to offer many options. The size of the bathroom was quite decent, the shower was large and supported by all the hot water you could use. The bed was comfortable over the four night stay.

The public areas were well maintained and pleasant. The finishes were solidly installed, textiles thought through, details attended to, and it provoked no sense of flimsiness. It may or may not be suited to your personal preferences, but it works quite well.

The breakfast included in the room rate is a huge plus. The wide variety of choices, taste, and freshness were all good. The dining area, both indoors and out, was well planned and enjoyable. It was nice to linger on the terrace over a second cup of coffee.

The staff were pleasant and helpful, quick to give their attention, and very professional in their attitude. They are another major plus and probably the most valuable asset of the hotel. Compliments and thanks were earned with ease.

It needs to be mentioned that the statement that \"all rooms have a balcony\" is not true. Beware of the rooms without one as they have no fresh air, only AC.

The neighborhood is not that great, but the location is so convenient that it balances out. It was quite walkable with some fun and interesting destinations to explore. Do try the harbour scene. Taxis, train, and buses are just around the corner which is really good. Rush hour traffic is aggressive and loud which is really not good. Balanced, again.

While I would have liked to give the hotel a \"four\" overall, the trapless drain prevented that. It needs to be fixed, it's not something to ignore.

The first impression of the hotel was great. Great lobby, elevators, the hall outside the rooms, the view from the room balcony, the room itself.
The bad thing about this hotel was that there was only one receptionist speaking english (average to bad english).
Also there was no soundproofing in the rooms, as we could hear what the people in the neighboring room were talking about. Thank God we heard just the talking and nothing else...

Hotels in Turkey often seem to selft attribute their stars. This is the case. The hotel itself is ok. A bit worn but ok. Room big enough. If you mind noise from outside, know that it fets loud, being on a busy street. This hotel does not have all the services they post. Not really any english speaking staff, we had to walk downstairs to order room service to carry it back up, receptionnist hung up on us a couple times when we called because we spoke no turkish. Overall, ok place to stay. Practical near Basmane train station and all the bus companies around the corner offering free shuttle to the bus station. But if you fancy good service with non-dismissive staff, don't stay there.

We just stayed overnight prior to a train trip to Selcuk for an Ephesus excursion the following morning. Location across the street from the train station was perfect. Breakfast was great. Room was larger than most European hotels we have stayed in. Since we were there only for a night, we did not use any services other than Wi-Fi, which was free, but awfully weak/spotty in the room.

Central and reasonable

The GC Hotel is a half block from the train station and otogar, so if you are underway as we were, then this hotel is a good choice. The Hilton or the Swiss it is not, but for less than 130 lira the room was OK, well-appointed, clean and fairly large by Turkish standards. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast tasty with a multitude of choices. A major point for my wife and I was the mere 15 minute walk (roller luggage in tow) to the airport shuttle stop. Lots of traffic noise since we were in a street-facing room with balcony. The call to prayer sounded as though it was next door--and perhaps it was.

There are also many bus company's offices close by, there is free transport services to take the passengers to the bus terminal. I am sure this hotel had its prime time in the 60's but it desperately need an update now. However for the price of less than US$50/night, it is not a bad choice for a short stay

Want to feel like a Sultan? Try the Grand Corner

WoW! What a great place! The Grand Corner Hotel was the one splurge hotel on my two week trip to greek and turkey. Izmir is a great, lively, bustling town and i had a great time in the 1day that i spent there. I arrived in Izmir at the Basmane train station and the grand corner hotel is perfectly located for any traveller arriving that way -- its right across the street from the station. This hotel is a throwback to the way hotels used to be - ornate decoration, luxurious accomodations and even bellhops in little round caps ;). After i checked in, the bellhop grabbed my bags and showed me to my room. The room was large and luxurious, with a minibar (i used the fridge, but not the pre-stocked goodies), tea and coffee making facilities, a/c and tv and a great little balcony. The balcony ended up being my favorite spot, i would sit and watch that crazy Izmir traffic. The bathroom was cavernous with the biggest shower stall of my whole two weeks in greece & turkey. Plus all the little extras you would expect at a top notch hotel - slippers, body wash, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, etc etc. Breakfast was lavish by turkish standards with much more choice, including several hot entres, than i saw anywhere else in turkey.

In summary, if you are on a budget, the grand corner hotel makes a fantastic splurge and at a not too 'splurgy' price. Stay there and you will feel like a Sultan! My highest recommendation!

Need to ımprove your breakfast selectıon

The hotel staff was very nıce and trıed theır best ın servıng theır customers. But the hotel ıs sufferıng from a slump ın tourısm and ıt ıs affectıng servıce. I stayed at the hotel for four days and ıt bothered me that startched-based food were mostly served. On the last two nıghts of my stay, the breakfast consısted of fıve ındıvıdual plates of food thrown together wıth one egg, one pıece of bread and few beans. The number of plates matched the number of guests ın the hotel. I was dısappoınted that the hotel dıd not serve better food. But on the other hand, the massage was the hıghlıght of the stay. It was soothıng and relaxıng. The rooms were clean, spacıous.and comfortable However, ıt was very noısy both early mornıng and late evenıngs from crowd noıse below.

It's at good location close to beach and clock tower. But it's in the old area where lots of Pro-stitutes are around. Don't feel safe walking alone at night. Also, the hotel staff don't speak good English , so it's difficult to get transport information and tourism information which is most important for a traveller.

Hotel tres convenable

Hotel propre dans l ensemble. Les chambres sont spacieuses et les lits sont confortables. Le seul pt negatif est le petit dej qui a mon sens pourrait etre plus complet.

Un hotel agradable.

En el pasado se ve que fue un gran hotel. Los años transcurridos han dejado su huella, pero sigue siendo un buen lugar para pasar unos días. El desayuno en la terraza es bueno y abundante. Las habitaciones son bastante grandes y están muy limpias, y el balcón resulta útil para sentarse y descansar. Baño completo con bidet incorporado en el inodoro. Se ve que el mobiliario fue cambiado y el nuevo no corresponde verdaderamente para nada con el estilo original del hotel y con su arquitectura. Tanto el vestíbulo como las zonas comunes carecen de aire acondicionado. El hotel cuenta con servicio de aparcacoches. Lo recomiendo sin dudas.

Arapsaçı Bir Otel, Çok Karmaşık

Ben sesten hiç rahatsız olmayan bir insanım ama o trafiğin sesi beni bile rahatsız ediyorsa diğerlerini düşünemiyorum. Gece 3te trafik mi olur diyorsun ama oluyor sabah trafik mi oluyor diyorsun ama oluyor. Şu ana kadar hotels uygulama yorumlarımda hep tavsiye ettim gittiğim otelleri fakat bu oteli tavsiye etmem. 509 numaralı odanın klima kumandası yoktu, balkon duşakabini camı kıtık, otel keşmekeş bir yapıya sahip. İyi yanları ise merkezde, odaları geniş, kahvaltısı açık ama ben tatlarını hiç beğenmedim (tatlar kişiden kişiye değişebilir)

Jakuzili 2 gecelik oda tuttuk klima yetersiz eski idi. Jakuzi altından yahut giderinden gelen bir rutubet kokusu vardı kullanmadık perdelere eşyalara sigara kokusu sinmişti. Bu da yetmezmiş gibi banyo kapısının arkasında iki adet izmarit bulduk berbat bir tatil oldu. Çalışanlar güler yüzlü otoparkı var kahvaltıdan ve konumundan memnun kaldık

Otel konforlu rahat bir hotel . Merkezi konumda . Konakta gezilmesi gereken bir çok alana yakın. Oda konforu güzel. Ferah ve balkonlu bir odada kaldık . Kahvaltı zayıf standart yiyecekler mevcut. Ancak bizim için çok önemli değildi , yeterliydi.

Tam ana caddede, balkon camı tam olarak kapanmiyordu sesden uyuyamadik, iki gunluk reservasyon yapmistik bir geceyi kaybetme ugruna baska otelde yer ayirtip ayrildik
