We stayed for one night as we were road-tripping. We didn’t expect too much of the place. Service was great. Very friendly staff. The conditions of the room were poor, though. There was a smoke detector with a flashing light inside the room that was annoying. The bathroom was a bit uncomfortable as when you shower, everything gets wet. The overall cleanliness was sloppy. I wish the quality of the rooms would match the service. Staff is very kind and helpful.

The room was very dirty and in disrepair. On arrival I reported stagnant dirty water in the gaps of the bathroom sliding door, and complained about the smell of smoke. Air freshener was sprayed but they never dried up the water. The toilet didn’t flush and the shower head was damaged, water going everywhere. We had aircon issues but they did come to fix that.
The noise from outside all night long was also unpleasant. I had stayed at this hotel before but it was not as bad as it was this time. I would not stay again.

This is a great budget hotel. The quad room is really small but it will fit your family in 4 beds. The breakfast is great! Turkish/greek style of breakfast with olives, feta, little beads, coffee and tea and cheese.. very close to some anxiety syrian donar huts. Market super close. It was inexpensive and safe. Front desk family totally great. Very sweet nice people who care.. quiet building. If stay again.

The parking is far from the building.
They gave us room number 202, the air condition was not working. They moved us to room 102. Also the air condition was not working. We woke up at 4 am all sweating and checked out and slept in the car. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good value. The place was clean. The linen and pillows however were ready to be thrown out. The room for 4 people is too small as we kept hurting our shins on the bed frames. There was a bad smell in the room we were in and were unlucky to be near another guest who had their tv blarring till 3am. It should state there is no elevator for the elderly.

They say free parking on site but the parking is down really narrow side streets, we scratched our rental car trying to find it. Found a bed bug in the morning but otherwise the bathroom and room was clean.

As good as it gets in the price range

Again at this sweet little hotel, I always stay here whenever in Izmir. Competent, friendly staff, laid back and friendly. Decent breakfast, hotel bicycle and library. One side of the hotel is renovated, and well. These rooms have a/c. A few minutes walk to metro and main streets. The alleys of the old city are narrow, so there is noise from locals and traffic, and the rooms are pretty small, as the building is quite old. but the comfort, the vibe and the care the staff take of you outweighs any reason to avoid this hotel. It is popular, and deserves to be.

Excellent value for money. Lobby is pleasant, breakfast is good, the free tea any time of day is a very nice touch indeed. The economy rooms are dated, but 100% as advertised. The comfort rooms are modern and would be worth the extra money for many travellers. Close to the train and bus stations.

Holiday to remember in a well located area

I will start with the problems and end with the good things first of all you get what you pay for and being 61 and the stairs to the 4th floor were tiring, however it is not the hotels fault they have no elevator.
To compensate for that, the staff were so professional, so kind and could not do enough. Breakfast was great and I looked forward to it every day. I am a pescatarian vegetarian so they didn’t mind me feeding the millions of cats In Izmir with the meat I didn’t eat.
They even wash your clothes if you ask for not a lot of money.
It was in an extremely good location and they have a helpful local map. The staff always go the extra mile in asking how you were and they gave me a parting gift. I would not hesitate to stay again. It would be useful to stay on a nearer floor to reception in future. One of the staff has a Charles spaniel dog who is good for hotel service and they treat you like family.
The room was functional and apart from A small problem with the shower door( which I felt sorry for the maid to have to clear up the water spillage) the air conditioning unit was very good .
Lots of space for clothes and even a roomy double bed which is more than what I asked for. Few issues with the WiFi that dropped out late evening but I was tired after a days adventures. There is station nearby and when you buy an Izmir card it covers most of travel apart from dolmus( mini buses) but they are cheap anyway. Lots of traffic so be careful , well recommended

Good choice in Izmir, worth seeking out

Book this small hotel with no qualms ... get a room with aircon, they are newer, bigger and more comfortable. Staff are just great, no problems there of any sort. Enough English spoken, decent breakfast included, affordable, ambient, close to station and metro. In a small network of alleys, only 100 metres to main city streets, yet quiet enough, the smooth option in the slightly rough Old Town... look for decorative bicycles and a huge wonderful climbing vine right up the front corner. Hard to find, hard to forget !

Small room, one pair of slippers was used by someone before us, there was a hair on one of the shower gels. They claim to have a parking, but in reality it's just a small spot in front of the entrance, not safe to leave your car there at all, too narrow street. The only reason I give 2 stars is that the receptionist was really willing to help and found a parking near another hotel close to the area almost immediately. He also offered to upgrade our room for one night as a consolation for us. We were supposed to stay for two nights, but left next morning.

Sleazy receptionist greeted me.

This is probably the best option in the neighborhood and a convenient part of the city. The hotel has economy and \"new\" rooms. The new rooms are lovely and the economy rooms aren't bad. Most of the staff was great, but there was one member of the staff who was fairly curt at times.

My wife and I stayed here for one night. We had to leave early in the morning, so unfortunately we weren't able to take advantage of the free breakfast that came with our booking. The room was small, so it wouldn't be a good place to stay if you're going to be in Izmir for several days, but if you need a place to crash for a night, it's a great option. The room was clean, and the gentlemen at the front desk were very helpful. They even spoke some English. There are plenty of small restaurants and shops nearby.

Great value hotel

The hotel is slightly hard to find without a map (poor signage), but it's one block from the Basmane train station (to reach Ephesus and Pamukkale) and just down the main street from the harbor. The staff are the best I've ever encountered- super helpful and provide maps of things to do, local area, etc.

The room itself was clean and modern, but the bed sheets had a slightly smoky smell, hence the 4-star rating. Wifi is excellent, hot water always works (you need to wait a few minutes for it to kick in) and room temperature was perfect. Breakfast was typical for Turkey and Migros/Sok are around the corner if you are in a pinch.

Regarding the area that some mentioned- this is an authentic Turkish neighborhood. People live and work here, and men in Turkey tend to stay outside the house until nightfall. It doesn't \"look\" like a typical tourist area, but don't let it scare you away. I can understand why single foreign women might feel uncomfortable, and encourage them to find a place on the main street.

The hotel provides an airport shuttle for 60 lira upon request. I recommend using it.

Overall, awesome hotel for the value I got. Definitely would stay again.

5 star service from hotel staff!

At first i was a bit taken back by the current state of izmir.
Arriving into the neighborhood there are thousands os syrian refugees homeless on the streets. It looks scary but i assure you they are humble people and not there to cause any problems apart from keeping their families safe.
The hotel staff are absolutely amazing. Not a word of a lie but this place by far had the best service ive come across. Very helpful always cheery.
The rooms are very clean and the breakfast is good. Aircon works a treat.

despite being in a somewhat dodgy neighbourhood, this hotel is perfect for an Izmir stay. I stayed with two friends and we had a great time. the staff were some of the friendliest people I've met in my travels and did everything they could to help us out at all times. the rooms were spacious and comfortable, with effective air conditioning. the free breakfast was a delicious way to start the day and the location beside basmane station is ideal too. all in all, the perfect budget option in downtown Izmir.

Unfortunately there is no frig in the room but the AC and TV were ok. The room was clean with double glass windows (room was quite after closing them). Unfortunately there is no lift in the hotel, the staff try to carry the baggages, but it's not comfort. Mr. Mustafa is very kind and knows good English. He will provide you a lot of information you may need. The hotel is located close to the train station and an important square, Basmane. Most of important bus companies like Metro and Pamukkale (to visit Ephesus or Pamukkale) have office there and provide free shuttle minibus to the main terminal (Otogar). All in all it's a good hotel, to sleep and enjoy Izmir. Unfortunately you will meet a lot of poor (and drunk) people around the hotel, we had no problem, but bad feeling.
As an economic hotel, they provide good service and standard+ breakfast.

The staff was helpful as they spoke English. We know a little Turkish but it was nice as we arrived so late at night to not have to interpret.

The hotel itself was good value for the price. The room was small but the A/C worked great. The bed was fairly comfortable and the breakfast was decent.

The location is a positive and a negative. It is really close to the downtown area for those who want to get around and see the area. However, late at night (when we arrived) there were folks shooting up with drugs in the narrow streets towards the hotel. No one seemed violent, but wouldn't recommend walking alone as a man or woman down those streets.

Single room,bijoux and walls a bit thin no you need to have quiet next door guests
but fine as a place to lay your head;and the shower and air con work !

Staff was very helfpul and breakfast was very nice. But the rooms offered were very small. I had taken 2 rooms (Triple and Double). Was disappointed by both.
Hotel offers free parking facility, which is a must in that area. Rooms are top floor are difficult to reach; test of personal fitness :)

Decent hotel, good value, area not the best

This is decent hotel for the price. The location is both a strong point and a weakness, since, through no fault of the hotel, it is dodgy area after dark. However, as a base to explore the city and elsewhere (Ephesus etc) it's only a stone's throw from Basmane train station, so great in that regard. You'll probably end up in Alcanzak for a night out so I recommend a taxi if you're out late rather than strolling around the nearby Sokak's to get back. In short, great value, nice breakfast, slightly short beds (if you're over 6' 1\" your feet will be dangling), but for the price still worth it for a budget stay in Izmir.

Olipiyat Hotel -is only a few blocks from the Train Station & a little away from the water's edge- but makes for a great walk thru the side streets to experience some local foods & fare.Few blocks away is the Main Sq where the Pammukkale transfers depart from.

The room was a little cramped, but that is pretty standard for hotels in Turkey. The location was a 10 minute walk to the sea and boardwalk. Great Location and more!

The Olimpiyat Hotel is in a very convenient location for the train station and also to book and catch long distance coaches all over Turkey. There are lots of hotels in this area but the Olimpiyat stands out with its brightly painted bicycles on the exterior walls. It looks quite traditional from the outside but the rooms are surprisingly modern, very comfortable beds and hot showers. Breakfast was a small Turkish style buffet, quite adequate with lovely fresh bread. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Our room was right at the top - fourth floor, but we had help with our luggage and we loved being up in the 'penthouse' - spacious, cool and comfortable with a great shower room. The receptionists were helpful with information. The area has many small hotels but this was the prettiest - love the bicycles on the walls! - and the location was convenient for walking to major attractions

The hotel was a little difficult to find, but once there I found it easy to get around. The train station, bus, and old bazaar area were close by.

I was sick when I arrived, and I found the staff very solicitous of me...carried my luggage up to the room, brought it down the next day. They sold water for the same price as the stores, which I always appreciate. They drew me maps, spoke some English.

Breakfast room and breakfast are fine, room clean, plenty of light, ventilation, towels.

For the price, I was very happy.

The staff need to be more accommodating - here's two examples of how they could have been: we didn't have any water in our bathroom one morning causing us to miss a train and delay our plans for the day. Although problem eventually fixed, the owner should've knocked off something from our final bill. Also, many people visit Ephesus from Izmir, so the hotel staff should know to tell guests there is 2.5TL minibus from Selcuk to the ancient ruins.

Decent place

Hotel Olympia is a decent place. The staff, though not fluent in English, were very friendly and helpful as possible. My room was kind of chilly, but I didn't realize as early as I should have that the \"air conditioning\" also could supply heat. The bathroom had a drafty window, and there was no shower curtain to keep the bathroom floor from getting wet, but everything was pretty clean, and the bed was warm/comfortable.

The maid did throw out a batch of bottle caps I'd collected for a friend's kids' collection, but not a huge loss their really. Don't leave anything that might be interpreted as garbage lying out, I suppose. No other complaints...

This hotel is hard to find, but if you tell taxi drivers to take you to Basmane train station, you can just walk from there. It is within a few blocks. That was great for us, as we were using Izmir as our base of operations for daytrips by train to Selceuk (Ephesus), and Bergama (Pergamon). We stayed in multiple budget hotels throughout Turkey, and found this hotel pretty standard for the price. The breakfast was a bit more meager than other hotels in the same price range. However, the room had consistent heating, which was lacking in some other budget hotels. No hairdryer is included in the room, so be sure to bring your own. They do offer laundry service, which not all our other hotels did.

Great Service but even for the price - kind of dingy

The people working in the hotel were great but the rooms were simply sub standard in mostrespects, although in reality clean and if you are only looking to sleep some place without caring to spend time at all at the hotel, but really dragging after long days of sightseeing to get your 8 hours of horizontal - you'll get your warm water and go to bed- it'd likely do, but I ended up going to a hotel with much larger rooms (and really hardly a warm water to speak of, but still with nicer front desk area, etc.) for the same cost....

Olimpiyat Hotel should be considered as a hostel. If you need just a place to sleep and avoid paying much, then you are on right booking. Otherwise you are about to make a big mistake : )

çevredeki boş parsellerdeki ücretli otoparkları kastederek sitedeki açıklamaya otopark mevcut hiç dığru değil. otoparkı bırakın otele giriş yapmak için otelin önünde durup valiz indirecek alan bile yok. resepsiyona sorduğunuzda ileride otopark var diye kestirip atıyor. zaten o yüzden giriş bile yapamadan geri döndük. otelin bulunduğu bölge çok kötü, hiç güvenli değil, aile ile kalınacak bir yer asla değil.
