We had a pleasant stay at this hotel which is in a lovely location overlooking the lake. The room itself was quite basic but clean, and while the bed was comfortable, the footboard made it feel a little small. The shower pressure could have been better. The highlight was definitely the view, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
One of the main reasons we booked, however, was because Hotels.com listed the property as having an electric car charger. On arrival, we discovered that it only offered standard outdoor plug sockets, not actual EV chargers. Since we were using a hire car, we only had a regular charging cable and not the slower charging option required. We believe this was an error on Hotels.com’s part rather than the hotel itself, but we also met another guest who had booked under the same impression.
The hotel’s location is also worth noting—it sits high up on the mountainside, with access via narrow, winding roads. This can make driving there quite tricky! Alternatively, the property is reachable by cable car, so it may be easier to park by the lake and bring luggage up that way (only approx a 5-10 min journey). If we were to visit again, that’s likely the approach we’d take.

Our stay at the Bellavista Boutique Hotel in Brunate was memorable. The hotel offers absolutely breathtaking views that really set it apart from any hotel down in Como. The staff were exceptionally warm and attentive, always going the extra mile to make sure we felt welcome. The hotel has an old world charm and is a really unique place to stay. The drive up to Brunate is a bit challenging but arriving at the top is worth it!

The hotel is set in a small village on the top of a hill overlooking Lake Como. The view is gorgeous, the restaurant was awesome and the staff are so lovely. I didn’t find the room particularly comfortable but we stayed in the least expensive room so perhaps the more expensive ones are a bit cozier. Our room was very basic and a bit run down but it’s an old building and has a lot of charm. Overall, it’s lovely but if you want luxury, I would recommend upgrading your room to a suite. Thanks to the hotel staff for the warm welcome!

Bellavista is a wonderful place to stay if you are visiting Como. It is located high above the city with wonderful view. A tram going down to the shopping area of Como is located right next to the hotel.

The view is unbeatable and the location right next to the Funiculare station means you don’t have to worry about how to get up and down the enormous hill.

Such a wonderful stay. Staff were really friendly, room was gorgeous, view was stunning. Felt clean but vintage and stylish. Food at the restaurant and at breakfast were lovely. If you're driving it might be easier to park in Como and get the furnacular up as it's literally right next to it and saves navigating up the hill.

If you enjoy a serine and quiet experience, staying at the Bellavista in Brunate is the best choice in all of Lake Como. Exceeded all expectations, friendly warm welcome, helpful in every way. Magical room with breathtaking views of Lake Como, authentic room and surrounding. Room was traditional yet had all the modern necessities needed. Young children were equally in awe of the hotel. 2 minute walk from amazing funicular that takes you down to Como. Hotel is beautiful inside and out with gorgeous views and good food. I didn't realize it's at the top of the funicular, so trips to and from Como are easiest using the funicular.

An incredible experience and property. Wonderful views beautifully restored building and rooms. Great restaurant and bar. Really a wonderful location and staff. The drive up is not for the faint of heart but we’ll worth it. 20 meters to the incline down to Como. My only complaint if you could call it that, is that it did not have A/C. But completely understandable given the age of the building. Was not expecting it but it did get very warm in August. Overall a great experience. Would absolutely recommend.

Great location, great staff and great food!
The road up to the hotel is mostly one car wide and has to deal with two way traffic :-) We had reserved a parking space. The hotel doesn't have air conditioning, so in summer be prepared to sleep with the windows open and expect a few mosquito bites, there is also street noise, but that said, the room was large and comfortable. The staff are just wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. We ate at the restaurant and the food was exceptional. Would be happy to return.

We absolutely loved our stay here! It's up in the mountains and oversees the town of Como. The view is incredible and they did a great job of preserving the historic building. That being said, there is no AC, so if you are there in the summer when it's hot, expect to sleep with the windows open. I will say that if you are someone who has allergies to bugs including bees/wasps you will need to be very careful when in the area as they are rampant! The area is nice to walk around and there is also a funicular that will take you down to Como if you don't want to drive back down.

Driving up by car can be a bit challenging so if you are not comfortable driving on very narrow roads with tight curves you should take the cable car. I'll bring you right to the hotel. My wife and I (from Auckland, New Zealand) stayed here for 2 nights. We arrived by Bus from Luzern, Switzerland which stopped at the main rail station in Como and walked to the cable car. Was easy to find.
The hotel was really great - we loved it. You take the cable car up to the top (which is part of the adventure) - you have a great view of Como and the lake.

Worth the drive
The views are amazing and even though the road to the top was crazy it was worth it. The building is old but it is well maintained and the age is a big part of the charm. If possible I suggest leaving your car at the bottom of the hill and take the Funicular up. It's less then 6 euros roundtrip and will save you some aggravation on the drive. The staff was way beyond accommodating and the food in the restaurant was great,

Nice views for lunch/dinner. 2.50 cover charge. Intermediate level of driving required to get to the hotel. Not worth the time/effort to fight the traffic up slope and down slope. The dinner experience was so-so. The seasonal items were fresh. The dessert was very good. We had a pear dessert and a chestnut mousse.

Bellavista was a real treat. Our room had a balcony with views over Lake Como that were amazing. The restaurant was convenient as well, for a quick bite. Clean space, helpful staff, the only thing I would change would be to add AC. It can get pretty hot in Como in the summer and AC would have helped.

This guest house/hotel is in an amazing location. Staying on top of the moutain, with fantastic views of Como, was an unforgettable experience. The hotel has been restored and will make you feel like you are in old time Italy. The little town is cute, and the close location of the funiclaire makes getting to Como so easy - 10 minutes.

Wonderful restaurant. Nicely appointed rooms. Quite tiny, but not by European standards. Very close to the tram. The drive to the hotel involved very narrow streets with tight switchbacks - a bit tricky to navigate them. Lovely views of Como. A lovely spot overall!

Hotel Bellavista is a wonderfully located hotel - the views of Lake Como from our room (which we paid a bit more for than for a room without a view) were amazing but even if you stay on the other side, you can get the view from at breakfast or any other meal if you choose to have one in the restaurant. The room itself was spacious, clean and charming as was the hotel itself.
Breakfast was lavish and catered for all, the staff were friendly and professional. We ate in the restaurant on both evenings we stayed there and enjoyed delicious food on both occasions.
The hotel is located conveniently near to the funicular to get to Como town which made for a very fun trip down and up the mountain!

The service was very personable and they made us feel at home. Try their venison and the turkey, they were perfect!! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Como!!

We were very disappointed with this hotel even though it was in an ideal location for visiting Lake Como, the views were fantastic and the funicular made it easy to access the town. We felt like second class citizens it felt that unless you were eating at the restaurant, even guest had to book for lunch and dinner, the management and staff were not interested in you. We even had medication taken from the fridge by the managers wife and taken home with her,it took hours to get it back. needless to say we will not be staying at the Bellavista again

Beautiful hotel and area, excellent service. Our room, which was room #4, with views of the church and garden, may have been the smallest room in the hotel and was smaller than we expected - almost too small for two people to function comfortably. But it was very clean and pretty. We were there off season and not many restaurants were open in Brunate, but the Bella Vista hotel restaurant was excellent.

Very boutique - very nice
From arrival to departure I couldn't have had more help, attention and friendliness from the staff - they were brilliant. Nothing too much trouble. The hotel itself was a really quaint renovated Italian House - only 8 rooms - but organised with care and beautifully decorated in a slightly random, charming way. This is not a modern hotel in a historic skin - it has much of it's original charm. The views from the balcony and dining room are truly stunning down over Lake Como. There is a funicular rail link 100 yards from the hotel that takes you right down into Como. The restaurant is great, although the food is not the best, but actually excellent value for money. Loved my stay.

This charming hotel is located up above Lake Como in a small village called Brunate. You can take the funiculare up to Brunate from Como for 5 euro roundtrip; it's a 7 minute ride each way. The hotel is steps from the funiculare and is situated in an area with absolutely beautiful views. They have a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating ideal for a romantic meal or simply casually hanging out. The breakfast served each morning is wonderful too.

Full of character with stunning views
Full of character with stunning views and absolute excellent restaurant. Only downside was the drive up to Brunate. Not for the faint hearted but I certainly would not let that prevent me from going back there.

Sign posts could be a little better, especially considering the roads you have to take to get there are so tight and with very sharp cornering ! Lovely quirky hotel. Using the private spa was lovely. Very welcoming lady when we arrived, but sadly the waiter for dinner, breakfast and checkout was decidedly offhand. The restaurant was okay, but I'd be inclined to eat elsewhere if we went back. Very nice continental breakfast.

This hotel was fabulous. We had a car and it was definitely tricky to get to but well worth the effort. The building itself is a great old structure. The room was small but it was lovely. It was decorated so nicely with antique furniture. The location was right beside the funicular to take you down to Como. Unfortunately for us it was down for maintenance when we were there. But there was bus transportation. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. And there was a great buffet breakfast provided. We will definitely be back to this hotel.

It really is a Beautiful View!
The winding narrow mountain road leading to Bella Vista is not for the timid driver. A little difficult to locate but a helpful town resident led us to it. We didn't know the Funicular (train up the mountain from Lake Como) is steps away from the entrance of the beautiful Bella Vista (it does have a beautiful view). We recommend taking this down to the Lake. If you want old world charm, fantastic views of the Lake, warm hospitality, comfort and great memories, come here. I only wish we stayed more than one night.

We arrived and they thought we didn't understand them because they presumed we were Chinese and made unnecessary comments. I spoke Spanish and very similar to their language . It was hot .No fan and had to carry luggages all the way to third floor. Breakfast included but eat only one bread. No more. I don't eat cold cuts and my husband asked nicely if there was anymore bread coz it is the only thing we ate . The lady answered rudely it takes 30 mins to bake it. I told her she can talk nicely. They can tell us we can pay for it. What is breakfast ? ?? Everywhere at night bring bugs spray. Insect bites hurts.I got a few.

Idyllic week in June
We stayed at Bellavista for a week in June. It is a small family run hotel situated in a superb hillside location overlooking Como town and of course the lake. Brunate is a small village with few amenities as such but access to Como town,the rail, road and lake transport facilities is easy via the nearby funicular railway.The hotel location is also excellent for access to numerous mountain walks and trails. We were allocated the 'junior suite' which appeared to be the best room with balcony and superb views and would recommend this choice if available. We were glad we hadn't hired a car as local roads are interesting to say the least and parking around the lakeside main attractions appeared limited. We arranged transport to and from Malpensa airport with Renato, the hotel manager and this from our perspective was certainly the right choice. We loved our stay which was certainly enhanced by the friendly and helpful hotel staff and hope to return in the future.

No Air Con
The hotel is in a excellent position with a great view of the lake and close to the funicular railway to Como. The drive to the hotel is along narrow lanes with limited passing points in places. The hotel room was clean, with a good shower. However the big problem for us was the lack of air con, which resulted in a disturbed night's sleep. So overall we would not re-visit.

This is a little gem of a hotel right at the top of where the cable car ends. It is a bit difficult getting out of the cable car and continuing the steps to the exit door at the top bt then you only need to cross a small square, pass alice's cafe and there you are. The views when having breakfast were to die for, right across to snow covered Alps. I loved the large room size and the tradtional furniture and decor. The bathroom is perfectly modern and kept very clean. would stay here again if i come back to the Como area, and I fould it easy to go on the cable car down to the Como town centre and even catch the train into Milan.

Nice hotel in traditional style with great view. Because the owners try to preserve the style of the hotel you have beautiful old ceiling decorations, but you also have walls and doors aren't very well sound-isolating. The restaurant is excellent.

Thoroughly enjoyed staying in the comune of Brunate with views of the Swiss alps and Lago di ComoChiara staff member especially helpful and always provided any information requested from train timetables, taxis places to see etc. Breakfast was more than adequate and room was comfortable and cleaned to a very high standard. Charming and lovely stay
My husband and I stayed for four nights at this hotel. We have traveled throughout Italy in the past, and this was such a charming treat! The staff was endearing and welcoming in a genuine way, and the property was just lovely. The bathroom was modernized, and there was wi-fi available, but the room reflected a days-gone-by quality of life that we were seeking on our break! There was a beautiful balcony overlooking the mountainside and Lake Como, surrounded by window boxes of cascading geraniums and visiting hummingbirds. The hotel was a perfect location from which to wander throughout the village of Brunate, as well, with the funicular to Como just steps away. The restaurant was delightful, and clearly, was enjoyed by both locals and visitors alike. We would return to this hotel in a heartbeat!

This hotel in Brunate is perched high on the cliff overlooking Lake Como. Our room had a fabulous view over the lake and city. The hotel is about 2400 feet above Como with a hair-raising drive through narrow winding roads up to Brunate. There is a funicular beside the hotel which, unfortunately, was not operating during our stay. However, there is a bus that runs to Como every 30 minutes. It is expected that the funicular will be back in operation within the next 3-4 weeks. The restaurant is great - not many choices, but the food was excellent. Breakfasts also were very good. The rooms are really well decorated with the use of glass, mirrors and painted frieze work. We really liked this hotel.

Very impressive Hotel with great view. We had a view overlooking lake Como from our room and also for Breakfast and Dinner. The Hotel was very nice with the staff friendly and helpful. You need to be able to walk up some stairs to your room and also catch the funicular if you want to visit Como 5.30 Euro return. The Hotel room was modern and clean.

We had 1 night in this hotel. Hotel has very nice Como Lake view. Cozy and clean hotel. Hotel owner and his family run the business. They were so friendly and very accommodating. They were performing live music by themself that night. When we decide to sleep they stopped playing to not to bother us. They were so kind. The funicular to Como is located just a few steps from the hotel. So you can just take the funicular and arrive to the lakein few minutes. It was fun. Please go and stay if you like small nice hotels. BRAVO...

As the other reviews show, it would be very hard to give this hotel less than five stars. The location is wonderful, the view is breathtaking, the building itself has been recently and tastefully renovated, the owner and staff are charming, friendly and helpful. And the food is excellent, as well (the hotel has an in-house restaurant and bar)! We found this place by chance, but we keep coming back. It is near the top of a mountain overlooking the Lake of Como, about 20 minutes drive from the centre of Como. However, there is also a cable car to the city that takes seven minutes and runs frequently. The Como side of the cable car is practically next door to the train station, so it's a breeze to take the train to Milan (in fact, the cable car schedule is synchronized with train arrivals and departures, so there's never long to wait). In fact, it is perfectly feasible to stay at the Bellavista without a car. Believe me, it's such a nice place that you won't really want to go anywhere! You'll certainly feel as if you're staying with old friends.

Beautiful rooms in a quiet little town above all the \"action\" in Como. Conveniently located right next to the incline down (or up) to Como. Good breakfast and they welcomed our little dog without an extra charge. Free parking almost right outside the lobby door. Probably the most beautiful room we've had after more than a year traveling all over Italy. They even had free SKYTV in English (and not just BBC and CNN!!!!! Actual movies!!!! - First Italian hotel where we've had this treat). Balcony had a great view of Lake Como. Only complaint was the bathroom sink was really poorly designed, seemed to have no hot water, and only worked on a sensor. When the water finally came on, it splashed all over your clothes. We just used the handheld shower instead. This is a charming historic hotel in a lovely town and the staff was great. Breakfast was good too. Absolutely recommend!

Gorgeous views and outstanding food!
The hotel is located adjacent to the fununcular stop at the top of the hill (more like a mountain) above Como. The area is quiet and mostly residential but beautiful and peaceful. If you don't have a car and require the fununcular to reach the hotel just be advised that the last ride up is at 10:30pm. But the view is amazing along the way up as well as from the hotel dining area. Our room was small but clean and charming. It didn't have a good view from our window but many other rooms facing to lake certainly did. The wireless internet ran great and there was a TV in our room. The breakfast here is excellent and the restaurant is simply amazing (make reservations - it's small and can fill up).

We LOVED our stay at Bellavista. I can't say enough good things about it. We arranged transfers thru the hotel. We were met in Milan by a nice young man who took us directly to the hotel. It is a charming old hotel. Our room was spotless & linens were lovely. The view is beautiful. The best thing about the hotel is Clementina and her staff. They were so very helpful. We met her entire family & felt so welcome. The breakfast was very good & varied. We also ate a delicious lunch there. Such a pleasant setting and so convenient to the funicular that runs every few minutes down to Lake Como. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Italy.
