A fantastic couples long weekend away. Great service from reception (even before we arrived), the restaurant and pool service. The massage in the spa was one of the best my wife has had. The food was fantastic, the pool was brilliant a fantastic place to relax... we are definitely coming back and next time we will bring the children.

Lovely quiet location. We were upgraded to a suite which was lovely but not so good having to walk across the road to the main hotel for food, indoor pool, entertainment etc
Fantastic breakfast and tables not squashed together but didn't manage to eat dinner as it was fully booked both times we tried. Lovely large pool but too cold for us in early April. Ask for a room that gets sun as we had none on ours.

Booked through Expedia for myself and my 17 year old daughter. Expedia require you to state child's age and yet hotel charged me nearly 300 euros extra. Both companies then continued to blame each other rather than recognise the inconvenience and extreme cost to a customer. Will not book through Expedia again or this hotel chain. Bad communication and I'm greatly out of pocket.

I would like to share some aspects of my and my husband's stay throughout our stay .
When we arrived in front of the building, we were pleasantly surprised. A new building, beautiful on the outside as well as on the inside, with quite a few facilities. The reception served us with a glass of cold lemonade, which I found to be a very nice gesture.
They handed us the keys, and we were eager to see the room. When we opened the door, a strong unpleasant smell was noticeable. We didn't pay much attention to this. It was something minor for us. The room seemed very spacious, with a rather beautiful view of the pool.
However, I was unpleasantly surprised when I saw a lot of hair in the bathroom, both in the corners and on the towel, as well as a cockroach near the round drain in the bathroom. We didn't want to ruin our vacation, thinking that this could happen to anyone.
We called the reception a few hours later because we needed an iron. They said they would send someone from housekeeping to bring it to us. I believe we waited about 40 minutes for someone to come and bring us what we needed.
We wanted to take a shower, but the water pressure was very low, and the water was very hot. When we tried to adjust it to a normal temperature for showering, it either became too cold or too hot. We called the reception to tell them that it was impossible for us to take a shower, but unfortunately, nothing was resolved, leaving us to decide whether to take a shower or not with that water.

Great location and even better service

A three night stay at this hotel and their service truly blew me away. Pro-active and extremely considerate. As an example, I arrived late on Thursday evening and even though I had missed dinner they offered to bring to my room some food. It consisted of a large and delicious salad, a charcuterie plate with cheese, bread rolls and fruit. Then on the day of my departure, as I was leaving very early they offered me an early breakfast. Their attention to service was impeccable. As for the room the bed was very comfortable and the cleanliness was 10 out of 10. Would highly recommend it.

Well done to the Hipocampo Palace Spa

We have stayed at the Hipocampo Palace before, my wife and I enjoyed it so much we returned again this year.From the start to the end it was amazing. All the staff from Reception, restaurant and to the house keeping it was faultless.The only negative comment I have is to say 2 weeks went by so quickly, time flies when your having fun . Well done to all at hotel we shall return.

Booked at short notice for 3 nights. Lovely hotel we were upgraded to a suite.
Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We only booked bed and breakfast. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice.
Hotel grounds were in good condition.
Despite being fully booked we had no trouble getting sun beds by the pool. Absolutely perfect short break and we will come back.

Great Family Hotel

We spent a week at Hipocampo Palace and Spa and cannot fault anything.

We had a suite on the top floor for myself and my 2 children. The bedrooms had plenty of wardrobe space, beds were comfortable, bathroom well appointed if a little tired, but very clean.

Breakfast were amazing and served until 11am too. The pool area was lovely with huge grassed area and plenty of sun loungers etc.

Only downside was the actual resort, downside of being in the only 5 star hotel!! We hired a car so lots of great restaurants within easy reach. Porto Cristo worth going to. Airport was about 45 minute easy drive away. Palma about an hour.

Awesome hotel with flawless customer service, amazing food, pool area and spa. I have loved dearly my stay at Hipotel Hipocampo Palace. I can see why so many of its guests return each year. It is a stand out location in the resort town of Cala Millor.

Had a fantastic week at the Hipocampo Palace. Room was large and clean, food was wonderful and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Loved the little touches like the fruit given out around the pool in the afternoon. Was really sad to leave.

Perhaps rather disappointing was the entertainment - very outdated and quite 'cheesy' for a 5 star hotel. Professionally selected music that was suitable for the environment and atmosphere would have been better suited - we would have spent more time in the lounge area after dinner if the entertainment was better.
DON'T let this stop you considering what is one of the best hotel experiences we have been fortunate to have... this was our 6th visit to the hotel and we will be back again

terrible for vegans and not accommodating at all to requirements. Steam room wasn't working properly and it was dirty. food at breakfast was out of date.
Trying to use the spa there were constantly naked men in there. (it had signs saying not to be naked)
the way management dealt with the issues was terrible. certainly not a 5* hotel.

I liked the hotel very much

I had very relaxing stay in the hotel. It is clean, peacfull, luxurious and close to the beach. The food is the best I have ever had in the hotels - freshly made by chief who knows how to cook and combine ingredients so it tastes good. It is not small but it feels that there are not many people around even though it was fully booked. It is not for vacation with kids. There were not many I saw and I don't think there is any entertainment for kids either. Even entertainment for adults could be improved in terms of things to do or just music in the pool will be a bonus. There was aquagym session once a day which was lovely with great instructor. All in all I didn't mind entertainment much and had an amazing very relaxing stay.

Very nice hotel, clean and comfortable with pleasant staff. Beds and pillows extremely comfortable and had the best nights sleep I’ve had in years. Highlight for me was the quality of food which is the best I’ve eaten in a hotel. The wine list was also very good and excellent cocktails. The location is good as less than 5 minute walk to the beach which was sandy and clear blue sea although some seaweed.

Great hotel, definitely worth a visit!

Lovely hotel, great food with loads to choose from at both the breakfast and dinner buffets. The fish and meat cooked to order is a real treat. There are good facilities however the only negative comment would be the lack of air conditioning in the gym which, being next to the spa area, was too warm to use for any period of time. I will definitely go back!

why have a balcony that never faces the sun?

As always a lovely place to stay, although, despite taking the time to ask to NOT be in the backup property across the road (where you don't get any sun on the balcony - something we go there especially for) we ended up there, with most of the pool view obscured by trees. It really made it quite disappointing compared to our last stay, so much so that we would rather now go elsewhere than risk being put over there again.

Stayed here 8th Nov - 15th and the hotel is lovely. The room wasnt ready when we got to Reception but after a 30 minute wait the room was ready and we had been upgraded to a suite. The room was clean, spacious and had a lovely bathroom and very comfy bed. The service from the moment we walked in was pleasent and the staff couldnt do enough to help with queries or arranging things.
Breakfast Buffet was nice and the food was always hot, the waiting staff were attentive. We didnt try dinner but was offered a discount of 15% off however this could be due to the fact that all other places were sut due to being winter.
The spa area is clean and we visited the gym a few times. The spa isnt big but has the basics for a spa. It would be advisable that chldern do not enter due to nudity in the sauna and steam rooms....
Only suggestion that could be given to this hotel, is to put more on for even entertainment / things to do of an evening as being winter most nights were spent in watching TV due to all other close hotels / bars being closed!

We stayed in 2 suites for 4 nights. The rooms are clean & comfy. Beds are relaxing & there is air-con & blackout curtains. 2 vg flat screens - 1 in b/room, the other in lounge.
Bathrooms have double basins; separate wc; and bath with shower over.
The buffet food (brekky & dinner) is fresh & excellent, even for my vege wife. We went for the half board which I would recommend. Cocktails etc are same price as UK, but (spanish) wine is cheaper.
There is a great outdoor pool, and really clean pleasant spa (that is free). It is genuinely a 7 minute walk to the beach (hotel set one block back)
Imo this is the best hotel in Cala Millor. Most of clientele are German or Spanish.
Only down-sides are that the cafe / restaurant service can be slow, and the independent in-house beauty salon is pricey (eg 50 euro for shellac manicure)

Lovely hotel, close to the beach and town.

Owing to our arriving flight, we got to the hotel ridiculously early on our first day. We were promptly met with an offer of coffee, a place to leave our luggage and a set of towels. We felt really at home and welcomed from the off.

The grounds of the hotel are lovely, the bulk of our days were spent by the pool relaxing on the loungers. The grounds are well maintained and the staff very friendly, but not obtrusive.

After this, we would use the complimentary spa for a turkish bath or a hot stone relax... a lovely way to recover!

Outside of the hotel, you can be on the beach within two minutes, or in the bustling resort within five. Cala Millor is geared to cater for tourists, and you can find plenty to see, do and eat.

Great food, do have some niggles.

I have to say that my husband and I www slightly disappointed with this hotel. It's listed as 5* but I would put it more as a 4*.
We stayed in April, however as this was out of season, the air con wouldn't work to cool the room down so it was very stuffy at night (we were on the ground floor so couldn't sleep with the windows open).
Also little things like room service not being 24hrs, only had a couple of English channels and no pay for movies, no kettle or hot drinks making facilities in the room.
Good points are the staff are very friendly, the food and options are some of the best we've had in this sort of situation.
If you're going just to relax then this is a great place, it's very much a resort area, not much local flavour.

Enjoyed a lovely short break staying in a suite. Staff are excellent very friendly and helpful .We had breakfast at the hotel which was excellent a fantastic choice Hotel is spotlessly clean and very well maintained . The gardens and surrounding area are lovely .
A very short walk to the promenade and beach . All told an excellent hotel.
The only negative is the hotel should review its policy in the spa . I am very open minded and in no way prudish however....To encounter naked Men in a mixed spa is shocking for young and old women alike . Extremely unhygienic and very annoying .
We had a great stay but would never visit the spa again,

All the other hotel guests were German - this was not an issue as the staff were happy to converse in a number of languages. Spa pool not as large as expected but often had this to myself even though the hotel was busy. Wonderful short break. Will hopefully be returning.

We booked this hotel in early February for a bit of “winter sun”. The reviews looked good, however the reality was even better than expectations. We stayed in a suite for 1 week, which, due to it being early in the season, represented excellent value for money. The hotel is modern, clean, and the staff attentive and friendly. The buffet can only be described as “magnificent” and is really outstanding by any hotel standards. The hotel is ideal for a quiet break and has good facilities, including outdoor and indoor swimming pools, spa, hairdresser etc. There are also a number of reasonably priced activities locally including horseriding as well as coastal walks. Rental cars are also available locally, although it’s usually cheaper to book these on the Internet in advance of your trip. It is almost exclusively German middle-aged/retired clientele who frequent this hotel – we were about the only “Brits” - not an issue in itself, but be aware of some “cultural differences” (eg total nudity in the sauna !) Overall, a very positive experience, and we will definitely return.

Excellent newish 5star hotel in a quiet part town

We booked a suite, these are in a separate building next to the main pool. The room was spotless and reasonably well appointed. The service, choice and quality of the food at breakfast and dinner was outstanding, and varied day by day. The hotel is at the quiet end of Cala Millor, which I'm afraid is a rather typical rather 'tacky' large resort with British Pubs etc. But it has a great seafront and we enjoyed hiring bikes and exploring the coast and nearby resorts using the well laid out cycle paths. All in all we had a great time.

Lovely hotel

Lovely hotel in a quiet part of Cala Millor; a purpose built resort mainly consisting of hotels near the sea front. Hotel was excellent in every respect. The tourists in this resort consist of circa 90% German and the resort is geared up mainly for the Germans however locals speak multi-languages and communication wasn't an issue. The food was excellent, although I booked Breakfast only we also ate dinner on thee occasions. Entertainment was laid on each night. Pool area large with adequate area between beds. Local beach lovely but be prepared to pay around £10 per day for two sunbeds and an umbrella on the beach (nothing to do with the hotel) but there are open areas to spread out on your own if required.

Fantastic holiday

We stayed at the Hipocampo Palace at the end of August and had an amazing time there. We are still raving about it! The food was out of this world, the pool was gorgeous and the staff were so kind.We even had a couple of Spanish lessons from Carlos - what a hard worker he was! I can't think of anything we didn't like about the Hipocampo. We were upgraded on arrival to a suite,which was a lovely bonus. Cala Millor itself was alright but nothing special - very built up and busy. We tended to want to stay in the hotel, which is unusual for us. I would highly recommend this hotel.Loved it.

A lovely relaxing vacation at a great hotel!

On arrival we were upgraded to a suite which was a lovely start to the holiday. The room was clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I had asked for a quiet room and I'm pleased to say that's just what we got.
Both the breakfast and dinner buffets had a great variety of food, all of which was delicious.
Reception staff were very pleasant and helpful.
There were plenty of sun loungers and sun shades however the weather during our stay wasn't very good which was a real shame and not what I'd expected in August but the hotel can't control everything and what they could they did very well.

This was an ok hotel. If you think you are going to see the ocean, you have to be in one of 3 rooms. The pool is across the street from the main lobby, the opposite way from the beach. There are time gaps when there is no food service at all. The pool closes early at 7:30. Can't exchange dollars on the weekend. The bar is friendly, though and there is decent live entertainment nightly. Would not stay here again.

What a wonderful Hotel. We stayed for five nights and were upgraded to a suite on arrival which was lovely. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent with a wide choice of hot and cold dishes. We choose this Hotel because of the spacious lawned gardens around the pool and we were not disappointed. There was always sunbeds available and plenty of space between them. We will be back in August. The only improvement would be tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms which I know is rare in Spanish hotels.

Overall - fantastic, perfect hotel for a relaxing break, beautiful, clean, and staff friendly and helpful

Hotel - spotlessly clean, classy décor, spacious, lots of lovely areas to just sit and chill out. Nice bar area, with both inside and outside seating.

Room - subtlety but beautifully decorated, plenty of storage, plenty of hangers,

Pool - gorgeous, enormous - loved the grass all around too that the sunbeds are placed on. Plenty of sunbeds too and nicely spaced out so you're not squashed up against other people.

Restaurant - breakfast was incredible, literally every breakfast food you could want: cereal, fruit, yoghurt, toast, rolls, jams, meats, cheeses, pastries, scrambled eggs, beans, and also cooked to order sausages, bacon and fried eggs. To drink lots of juice, coffee, tea and even prosecco

Dinner in the restaurant was great too - its buffet style, but for the mains the meat/fish is cooked to order and the choice is large; salads, vegetables, potatoes etc etc.

Spa - this was the only slight negative; they didn't seem very organised even though we made appointments in advance. Treatments were only OK.

Location - 15 min walk along seafront to bars and restaurants.

If you just want to stay in a 5 star hotel and not leave the grounds then this has to be fantastic value for money. Food was wonderful with so much choice, we went half board and the evening buffet was just great. Room was good, we paid the extra for the suit and talking around it was worth the upgrade as the ordinary double rooms are on the small side. Only downside is no tea or coffee making facilities. Next time we will take a low wattage kettle. Pool was clean and hardly used. Local area around the hotel was pretty dire and the beach is around 1/4 of a mile away but after 1 venture there we stuck to the hotel pool. Staff are all very friendly. We managed to brush up on our German as this is the 2nd language of the hotel and resort rather than English.Saying that all the management and most of the staff spoke good English. We cannot wait to go back.

The first thing to say about this Hotel is that the food is excellent, the best Buffet we've ever had and every night was superb.

The Hotel is very smart and beautifully furnished, the room was superb, lots of space and perfectly clean.

The pool is large and was WARM, warm enough to take a leisurely swim at any time.

Plenty of space and loads of sunbeds make for a very relaxing stay.

The downsides ? Only that it's not on the Beach, but it's only a 2 minute walk, so no problem, plus the town itself is smaller than some other Majorcan resorts, however that makes it quiter too.

Overall, first class.

Great hotel,facities & a stones throw to the beach

On arrival we where greated by two lovely gentelmen that checked us in & the other showed us to our room.Unfortunately arriving at 11:30pm meant we had missed dinner.But we had salads ,sandwiches & a stunning fruit salad left in our room for us.Much appricated.

The food through out our stay was amazing so much choice varitite & freshness.

The facilities within the hotel where great an outside pool,inside pool & loads of spa treats to use free of charge. The hotel had a snooker room a hairdressers & internet room for use too. Our rooms balcany was right In front of the stage for evenings entertainment which was nice did go on till almost 11 so was noisy from 9pm till then. (roughly)

The staff where great helpful, friendly & kept the hotel emaculate.

The beach is a 2 minute walk from the hotel garden.

The only down side I would say to this hotel is the traveling to & from the airport. When returning I would defiently take private transfers rather than waiting on the coach filling up then taking at least 90 minutes to transfer. Also Expedia have this hotel under Sa Coma when it is acctually Calla Millor.

Great holiday would defiantly go back.

Lovely hotel, friendly, clean, yummy food

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Room was clean, cleaned every day. Food was very inviting at breakfast all varieties and gorgeous fruit. Had the evening meal twice and was excellent again with alot of choice and although buffet had station where they would cook fish, steak ect on demand just how you wanted it while you waited in front of you. Very again clean looking. Pool area was excellent very clean in pool and never over busy I think because it is quite deep all over but had kiddie pool and little park area. Although we were a couple were not bothered by children as was nice balance. Food was also very nice in pool area. Had ITV BBC1 BBC2 Channel 4 and others not 5 tho. We like walking and many places we could walk to. All along the beach costa de los pinos back to cala millor. We caught little train thing from town street one of side streets near Kohinoor Indian Restaurant ( to die for lovely indian food ) and this took us to pinos then walked back. Long way but if you need to can pick train up again. Then going other way went to hams caves by taxi and walked back to porto Cristo then bus to S'illot and then walked back to Cala Millor going past castle which had refreshments and had lovely warm baguette with cheese and tomatoe again very nice. Other good restaurants we liked were Panetosto in cala bona good for pizza and bolognaise and Cheers was ok for toby type roast and very hospititable and friendly doing little quiz and although not really into them was nice.

Fab hotel; great staff and amazing food buffet

I really loved this hotel. The pool area and towel arrangement is brilliant, as are the food and staff. I would recommend this hotle. The only down side is that Calla Millor is not the best resort on the island; however, the beach is lovely and you can enjoy the hotel facilities.

Stayed here in July 2013 - first impressions were great as I arrived late at night and found that my double room was actually a mini suite and that the hotel had put some snacks together for me as I had missed dinner after my flight was delayed. The room was lovely and kept very clean. Only thing missing really was tea and coffee making facilities. Also the bed was 2 singles pushed together which wasn't an issue for me as I was a lone traveller but may not be ideal for couples. The pool area was well kept and I always found a lounger despite it being quite busy every day. The restaurant was buffet style and there was plenty of selection but I wasn't keen on having to sit at the same table every night as I was placed next to a German couple who didn't speak a word to me the whole week and as a single traveller it would have been better if I could have moved so that I could mix with other people. The hotel was geared towards the German market and most of the guests were German and I found it quite difficult to practice my Spanish at times!

A true 5 star hotel

We stayed at the Hipocampo Palace for 4 nights. We loved every thing about this hotel. But,
the best thing is the breakfast and dinner buffet. They have the best seafood , a lot to choose from.
There is live entertainment at night. The staff are not too strong in English, but they try their best to help.
The beach is close by, about 5 minutes walking. You need to pay 4 euro for each chair and umbrella. So, every
trip to the beach was 12 euros. What you need to know is that it will cost you almost 95 euros each way
from and to the Palma air port. This was a shocker. Take your own conditioner, the hotel just gives you shampoo.

We returned to this hotel as it is one of the best that we have stayed in anywhere in the world for the price. The quality of both the breakfast and dinner buffets is outstanding. The range, and quality equal to the best offered in hotels charging very much more. Definitely 5* all the way.
Would recommend to even our most demanding friends!
Oh, just one thing to bear in mind about the wi-fi. Yes - it's still free, but if you have used it at this hotel within the last year, note that it has been upgraded. That means you'll have to delete the old automatic setting. Couldn't figure out the problem at all, but Miguele on the Front Desk fixed it very quickly. Could have been really problematic, but resolved easily - but he was the only one there who understood the reason for the connection difficulty.

en primer lugar, me gustaría agradecerles por mi estancia en su hotel. La calidad de su establecimiento y de sus servicios me ha agradado en general. Sin embargo, deseo plantear un tema que podría ser relevante para muchos huéspedes.
En el pasado, he estado en numerosos hoteles de 5 estrellas, donde las máquinas de café en las habitaciones estaban disponibles como estándar, acompañadas de suficientes cápsulas de café, así como leche y azúcar, generalmente de forma gratuita. Por lo tanto, me sorprendió un poco que en su hotel se indicara que las cápsulas adicionales tienen un costo.
Particularmente en la hotelería de alta gama, los huéspedes esperan un cierto nivel de comodidades, y para muchos eso incluye el uso ilimitado de las máquinas de café y los artículos correspondientes. Cobrar por las cápsulas puede considerarse inapropiado y no alineado con las expectativas sobre la calidad del servicio de un hotel de cinco estrellas.
Por lo tanto, solicito amablemente, pero con firmeza, que su hotel evite en el futuro la práctica de cobrar a los huéspedes por cápsulas adicionales. Sin duda, esto contribuiría a mejorar la satisfacción de los huéspedes y a mantener el alto estándar de su establecimiento.

Ha estado genial, ya que la suite que reservamos era fantástica, como un apartamento para 2 hecho hotel. La comida buenísima, es lo que más nos ha gustado, de todo y muy variado. Una cena y un desayuno que hemos disfrutado como nunca.
Como parate que se podía mejorar, y recordando que hablamos de un 5 estrallas, en mi opinión falta el servicio de acompañamiento a las habitaciones, y el spa nos ha parecido pequeñisismo, una piscina principal nada más, muy buena sauna, pero se hechaba de menos más elementos, estaba lleno de gente por lo que acceder a chorros, burbujas, etc era muy difícil y un poco más de temperatura.
Pero por lo demás, todo fantástico.
Y el precio muy bueno para esa habitación con cena y desayuno.
Una pena el spa.

The building is beautiful but feels old-fashioned and sparsely furnished, giving it an empty and ghostly atmosphere. Despite its quietness, you were consistently awakened at 8am by pool bar cleaning or noise from ping-pong players near your room. The hotel's location is set back from the beach and town center, situated on a busy route with traffic noise. It's also far from a suitable part of the beach for swimming.

The pool is large but shallow, more like a giant paddling pool. Water cleanliness is an issue, as debris accumulates throughout the day. Entertainment is lacking, with minimal adult and child activity slots, and the activity leader isn't proficient. The \"mini disco\" is disappointing, lacking choreography. While the food is decent, there isn't much variety, especially for non-meat options, and the poolside food is subpar.

Considering the price, including a high child supplement of €100 per night per child, the value for money is low. An incident with children's entertainment reveals poor service: painting on Hipocampo t-shirts resulted in an unexpected €10 charge per t-shirt, not clearly communicated beforehand. This lack of transparency and staff inflexibility are unsatisfactory for a supposedly 5-star hotel.

Notre dernier sejour dans cet hotel

Bel hotel et jolie pisicne.
Nous sommes restées une nuit et suite a un probleme nous n'avons pas ni d'eau ni d'electricité a partir de 6h du matin. Impossible donc daller aux toilettes, de se doucher, de charger nos telephones, de boire un cafe... le personnel ne l'hotel ne nous a donne aucune explication ni offert une quelquonque remise sur norre sejour (ni offert nos consommations qui s'elevaient a 15€)!
Pour un 5 etoiles nous nous attendions a un meilleur service.
