The front desk staff was very friendly and courteous!

The amenities were good for what I paid for, comfy bed, clean room, etc.

However, the bathroom seemed outdated, had bad lighting and no ventilation at all. There was also writing on the wall in the bathroom.

Overall a good stay, nothing stood out. checking and out with the BonVoy app was easy.

I booked my reservation well in advance, yet upon check-in I was assigned a disabled-access room. While I have the utmost respect for guests who require accessible accommodations, I do not have a disability and did not request such a room.

The room itself was clearly outdated, and the shower design—an open, curtain-style setup—caused water to spill throughout the bathroom, making it uncomfortable and inconvenient to use. This significantly detracted from the quality of my stay.

When I raised the issue at the front desk and requested a room change, I was told that no alternative rooms were available. I was also informed that because I booked through Expedia rather than directly with the hotel, my options were limited and that booking directly might have resulted in a better room assignment. This was particularly disappointing, as I made my reservation far in advance and expected standard accommodations consistent with the Courtyard by Marriott brand.

Additionally, the staff told me they were hosting a basketball team , which appeared to influence room availability and allocation. As a paying guest with a long-standing reservation, I expected a more thoughtful and equitable resolution.

I am sharing this feedback because I generally associate the Marriott name with consistency, comfort, and professionalism, and this experience fell short of those expectations. I would appreciate your review of this matter and a response regarding how this situation might be addressed.

Staff was friendly, but initially errored in not including breakfast (which we had paid for when making reservations). Comfortable room and bed, however noise of heating system was a bit of a distraction. Also, the tv placement in the room left the person on left side of the bed seeing only part of screen.....very strange.

Upon arrival, we were informed that housekeeping service is now provided only every other day. Since our stay was short, this meant that we received no housekeeping at all.

The lack of daily service significantly diminished our comfort. Our single bar of soap disintegrated, leaving us without enough for basic handwashing. We also ran out of clean glasses and had to request replacements from the front desk. The staff member’s reaction when we asked for four glasses was less than welcoming. In addition, both trash cans were overflowing, and I even had to replace the toilet paper roll myself—something I’ve never had to do at a Marriott property.

The bathroom doesn’t have a vent so humidity builds up and has nowhere to go. As soon as you open the room door, the smell of mold punches you in the face. The bathroom is even worse. The room has carpet which felt damp or sticky the whole time, likely due to absorbing moisture. I tried opening a window to get some fresh air but you could only crack it open 2-3” because metal safety (?) clips were drilled into the window frame.

The front desk staff member welcomed us on arrival and was very professional and courteous. Our room was pretty quiet except for the sound of the air conditioner, it was a little loud. The reason I have 3 stars for the staff is because of the staff member at the breakfast counter the morning of the 22nd. She was unwelcoming, impatient and almost rude, it’s like she was resentful. Not acceptable customer service. We were patient with her and decided to try breakfast anyway to give the place a chance. But then we noticed she was courteous to the other customers after us. It was very disappointing. I usually like the Marriott hotels breakfasts, we stayed in more than a few Marriotts. I will think twice now to stay at the Marriott in Simi Valley. We plan on coming back in the future to see other sites but unfortunately, I think I may look for another place to stay.

The carpets were just shampooed which is great but the floor was soaked and the room was muggy and air was moist. They had a fan going in there but a floor unit air conditioner would not cool the room down. We opened the window which just cracked open a bit. We arrived late and they didn’t have any other room. AC was very weak, both nights I couldn’t sleep. Turn AC to highest but it’s still too warm in the room. I only used a thin sheet as blanket to sleep. Shower head water pressure is weak also. Housekeeping didn’t clean our room, left tips in room to find out no service and no clean dry bath towels for second night. Monday morning, garage collection truck woke me up very early given that I couldn’t sleep the night before til late due to weak AC system. Sorry but I do not recommend this courtyard Marriott facility, disappointing experience.

The property was clean and conveniently located near a lot of dining and activity options. Our check in took quite a while-we requested adjoining rooms as we were traveling with our children and that was the best setup for us. Apparently the guests who had the room before us had the option to check out late so we had to wait for the rooms to be cleaned until well after the normal check in time. It was fine but it would have been nice to have been notified ahead of time that this was the case as we had been traveling all day with 4 young children and had dinner plans with family that began at a set time.

This is the second time staying at this property and both times our room has absolutely reeked of sewerage. Both times the hotel staff appear to be aware of the situation and change our room without even coming up to look at it. My check in was slow and ultimately felt like I was pushed into a particular ground floor handicap room because others were still dirty at 5;00pm. I had the impression that this had something to do with my type of reservation when I heard the two clerks discussing \"type of room\". My feelings were compounded by the parking lot appearing almost empty. I wasn't real happy with the room after I got there.

The hotel front desk gave me a room very close to the highway. I needed a non-smoking room, but when I walked into the room, I smelled a very pungent odor, and I was furious. The next morning's breakfast employee on the hotel's first floor had a very unfriendly attitude. Her service made me uncomfortable. My son was speaking English because of his braces, and she was telling him that she couldn't understand my son's English. I repeated what my son said after I heard this restaurant waitress answer. I think she should learn to respect others.

Although I was very disappointed by the housekeeping staff that woke us up on our check out day at 8:30 am and continued knocking on our door several times after that. Check out was at noon! Annoying

Not a good stay

I usually have great stays at Marriott, this stay was not unfortunately. The heater did not work, the room was really cold. Instead of being offered a room with a working heater, I was given blankets. In addition the tub was very dirty, I was not able to shower.

It was a very comfortable hotel. Its close to all kinds of dining and shopping. The only thing I did not like was the cleaner/airfreshner or something in the room. Our son had a room also so its wherever they are using. It did not have a pleasant fresh smell. Ill pack fabreez next time.
