First rate in every way, great location, quiet neighbourhood and easy walk to Metro at a Chinese mall - good food! Staff lovely, room had everything including a cute balcony.

Quaint property single handedly re-enliving the lead glass window industry. No name brand Air conditioner had an annoying buzzing sound. Rooms dont have a kettle for some fire prevention reaon that no other hotel suffers from. When we called we were sent to a basement kitchen to carry boiling water in mugs for three floors and we agreed to move rooms to a lesser room - no partial refund requested nor offered. After hours, no manager on site, so lucky they had installed e-pin locks. Form filled,function empty, english sinks stylistically correct but impossible to balance a tooth brush on and no shelves. Light leakage a diaster for those wanting to sleep in. Why arent room designers forced to \"eat their own dog food\" Microsoft style? Nice restoration idea with poor initial execution.

Such a cute and quaint place to stay, my daughter and I just needed an overnight but I wish that we were able to stay a little longer in this cute space. Very clean well decorated the only thing I wasn’t sure of was how to make a tea because I couldn’t find a kettle But otherwise everything was great. We also landed late and I had received a call while I was flying, and because they couldn’t reach me, they sent me a text on how to get in after hours, which was perfect. Super close to the train station and walking distance to a lot of our favourite things that we needed to do down in Sydney.

Really loved my stay here – cosy, quiet, and full of charm since it’s in a heritage building. The staff were super friendly, breakfast was included (such a nice surprise!), and the location was great – only about a 10-minute walk to the train station but still peaceful. Would definitely come back!

Beautiful victorian styled hotel.

After hours check in instructions are clear so checking in was easy.

Clean room, plenty of amenities, also has good collection of tea bags, coffee pods and coffee making machine.

Breakfast was included.

Good check out time which allows me to stroll around the area without carrying my luggages before checking out.

Overall a pleasant experience.

The hotel has been recently renovated. That being said, there does not seem to be attention to maintenance. For example the bed light fitting was dangerously loose as was the toilet roll holder.
We were warned to open the bathroom window and close the door to the ensuite as the smoke detectors were very sensitive to steam. OK. Could cope with sensitive but at around 11pm someone hadn't got the message and the fire alarm went off. It appeared that there was no staff on site and when the fire brigade turned up, they would have had no way of finding out what guests were on site. There was no staff to marshal guests. There was no obvious fire plan in the room.
Is this legal?
Apart from this critical problem; I have to say that the place has a lovely ambience. The bed was very good though the room was a little dark even with all the lights on. Facilities were good and the room had its own private verandah with table and chairs. Breakfast was serve your self continental style. Plenty of choice and a nice terrace to dine in.
Yes I would stay there again but I would hope that the safety issues are remedied soon.

Disgusting Room, Arrogant Management – Never Again

This was my first — and last — stay at this hotel.

I arrived to find my room hadn’t been made up. This was inconvenient, but I called after hours and was moved.
The new room was even worse. The toilet was filthy, unflushed, and disgusting. I took photos and immediately sent them to management.

It was too late to leave, so I stayed the night. First thing the next morning, I met with management in person, expecting a sincere apology and proper compensation.

Instead, I was met with arrogance and excuses. Their response? “That’s strange.”

No ownership. No genuine concern. Just an insulting offer of a token “goodwill” gesture- a discount on future stays — as if I’d ever return. I asked for more than a token off to stay an extra three nights. They refused.

This wasn’t a small mistake but a health and hygiene failure. And even with photographic proof, they shrugged it off.

Shakira Management doesn’t care about customer experience, cleanliness, or accountability. They’d rather lose business than admit fault or offer a meaningful resolution.

Avoid this place entirely if you value basic hygiene, respect, or decent service. It’s not just substandard, it’s disgraceful.

I just thought the property was old for the price paid.

There was no door on the room connecting to the outside room just a curtain. There was an old heater that continuously turned on and off to maintain a temperature. The heater was also up on the counter top which was dangerous. No air-conditioning which would be cheaper and safer.

When having a shower the bath filled up with water due to the drain being clogged.

The property is in a quiet location - the vegetation around the property provides privacy, shade and a good view.

Surrounded by construction zones on all sides. I tried to check in but was not able to find parking with a four block radius even though comments on Wotif were than free parking was available close. Shockingly poor customer service. Staff extremely unhelpful and indicated I should have read the fine print on parking more carefully. I walked away from the non refundable down payment and found better accommodation in a better location for same rate. I will never be back.

The property is clean and has the old world charm.
However the following were my inconveniences:
1. The heater in the room didn't work.
2. The blanket provided was not suitable for the cold weather hence I was uncomfortable throughout the night.
3. The kettle for heating water was dirty
4. The shower mixer didn't work well - water was either too hot or cold
5. The curtin was missing for one of the windows hence the light from the road was always in the room

The outside of property was beautiful, well looked after. The ceiling in the bathroom was peeling, the chair in the corner hadnt been moved for a long time as their was dust everywhere. There was no plug in the sink in the bathroom, was a bit inconvenient. Staff didnt speak at all, im not sure if they couldnt speak english, but was a bit weird. All in all it was ok, bed was not too bad, no noise to keep tou awake from traffic.

I love the old style of the home and its decore. The curtains were coming off at the end and made them difficult to close. The bathroom, whilst old, could be a little cleaner.

Worst hotel experience. The room was unmade and dirty. When brought to the attention of the staff they moved room and it was made but still dirty…insects in coffee cups and generally unclean. Didn’t stay and arranged another hotel at considerable extra expense last minute and was still charged for the first night here. Appalling on every level. Appalling!

The property was cute with character hence why I booked.so room was fine however when I decided to book another major factor was it said room had a bath. It had a bath but no plug and was told sorry its meant to e shower (which was not a good start. People need a choice.. The wildlife was noisy outside in the middle of the night disrupting sleep and because reception is only open for a limited period of time it felt unsafe if there was a problem. But for a unique property & location and price it was overall good.

It was a little noisy, as the rooms are close together, and the microwave wasn't clean, but the service staff responded immediately.

Excellent property close to transport and close to the city (15 mins by train) Very clean and comfortable. Staff were very helpful too. If I could improve one thing I would prefer a standalone shower rather than one in a bath but at least it had great water pressure and lots of hot water!! Will use again definitely.

We turned up and reception couldn't find our booking. Once I gave our booking reference number, she found it and someone had missed our booking. After quite a while, we were told she had a room we were being upgraded and took us right down the back, down lots of stairs to a very tired, musty, small apartment type room. It wasn't nice and we weren't happy. I think that room was for workers living there. I went to reception and said the room wasn't nice and asked was there something else. She showed me another room. It was lovely and the type of accommodation I saw in the photos. I said we would take it and then she tried to talk me out of it as apparently it was booked up the next night. Anyway we ended up in the lovely room for the 2 nights and were very happy. From what we could see, most of the accommodation has been done up very tastefully, hence all the good reviews. It's a few minutes walk to the station and 15 mins by train to the city. Our car was parked out the front the whole weekend but during the week, its 2hr park. We would stay again, as long as we confirmed the booking with them prior to our arrival.

Unfortunately the room I was given was located under the garage, with a window that didnt lock, connected on one wall with an outdoor courtyard/kitchenette. The room itself was clean, but given every other room was inside the hotel, it felt like I was placed in the 'spare room' / cleaners quarters(?). Woken up at 5:30am with linen being delivered into the upstairs garage (ie the roof of the room. Avoid room G01, I'm sure the rest of the hotel rooms are lovely as per the other reviews online...

The occasional vacuum and dust wouldn’t go astray. The room smelt weird and I wore shoes all the time because the carpet clearly hadn’t been vacuumed for some time. The staff are clearly doing the minimum they can get away with.
