Pros: The whole hotel and our room were quite clean, our room had a mini fridge and microwave, and there was complimentary coffee in the lobby.

Cons: No indoor pool or hot tub, and though I reserved a double queen room, the beds in our room were doubles.

I guess for the partial room view that I had Room 211, I would actually have to leave off my patio & make a right if I wanted to see the ocean. The weather conditions were cool, so no AC was needed. The heat that was provided in the room was just fine

right on the beach, easy access. clean room! one thing to mention is that the room door was a bit older so it was a bit weathered and the sound of the wind was pretty intense. otherwise, room itself wasn't too cold and the heat/ac worked just fine.

The Henlopen Hotel is a lovely hotel. We had a room with a partial view of the ocean. Our check in was easy. We found the room clean and comfortable. We found that our TV didn't work. We contacted front desk and a maintenance person came within 10 minutes. He gave us a new remote and that fixed the problem. Although we were there for the weekend, there was no maid service. I was not pleased with the showerhead. It is an older version and I had difficulty changing the shower pressure. We left the room on Saturday for several hours and came back to the room the way it was left. No extra towels. Check out was easy and parking was very convenient. I would suggest the hotel administrators consider letting guests know about maid service and the policies.

First time staying here, will not be the last. The staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful! The room was excellent, did have a view of the beach. Nice shower, many places the shower is an afterthought. Bed was very comfortable. The fridge was ice cold! Loved the coffee! It was a chilly weekend so being able to get fresh hot drinks was very important! Overall Great Place!

No pool no hot tub supposed to have pastries every morning, but they ran out on Tuesday and then that was the end the rest of the week never got pastries again
Not handicap accessible to the boardwalk, even though it’s right on the boardwalk, you have to go out the back door around the building to get to the front to the boardwalk very inconvenient!
Front desk people were not very polite one question answers, and very rude
Don’t expect to watch TV when it’s a rainy yucky day out because their television system is awful a little bit of wind and you have no TV

The floors in the bedroom are dirty. I’ll wear my socks go to bed and the socks are filthy.

Air conditioning very, very noisy. Wake me up and scare me.
There was one worker the maintenance man Quincy very very helpful. He went above and beyond to help me get a comfortable chair from my room. It’s a big room with empty space where a chair should’ve been but the front desk or like nope you don’t get a chair if you want a chair come sit down in the lobby.

Great stay. I'd definitely stay again. Great location for walking the boardwalk. AC unit was hard to keep the temperature even in the room, but no big deal to me, I let them know. I did not use any amenities (no breakfast), they do have coffee, hot chocolate, etc in the lobby. It's the oldest hotel in the area, so don't expect the be glorious! They are updated. No issues for me and I travel all year!

We loved the balcony and view of the ocean from our room. The sound of the ocean as we slept was beautiful! The staff at the front desk were nice and helpful. We loved that we were at the end of the board walk. It was quiet, and the access to beach was easy. It made it easy to watch the sunrise! We even saw dolphins! It was easy to walk to the restaurants and shops. The parking was a little confusing; however, at the time they were redoing the main parking garage. Our room needed some work. There was a broken light in the bathroom. Another light in the bathroom barely lit up. There was an annoying high-pitched hum in the bathroom. We kept the door shut to lessen the sound. There were some poorly painted sections of the walls. It was a big room, but the two queen beds were oddly close to each other. In other words, maybe they could lay the room out differently. The room seems like at one point it was a condo instead of a hotel room.

This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed at this hotel. We booked a room with partial ocean view because there were no ocean view rooms available. When they say partial view, it truly is not partial. Maybe others are
different, but we had to lean over the railing and really stretch to see the ocean. I guess it’s better than just looking at the courtyard.

The temp in the room was very warm and despite trying to turn the temperature down, it was still warm. We had it set at 60 and it felt like it was at least 75. We should have just called the front desk, but we just survived. We did mention it upon checkout. Also, the radiator was really noisy (I saw this in other reviews). It kept kicking on and off constantly and was very loud. Again, didn’t call the front desk since I figured that it was the way they were based on previous reviews.
The front desk staff were great! I wish that I got their names. It was cold out and nobody was on the beach, but I wanted to sit out there and watch and listen to the waves. Thinking that there would be no chance, I asked the front desk if they had chairs that that they rented to guests. She said that they did not, but they did have some beach chairs that previous guests had left behind. So she showed me those and said I could use it the whole time we were there.
We requested a late check out and they did accommodate us.
I would stay there again, but probably only if I could get an ocean front view (esp since the last one we had seemed bigger).

Walls were paper thin. Heater was broken and we had to have it replaced. Blew out dry hot air and kept us up all night as there was no way to adjust between blasting heat or freezing cold. Phone didn't work. Engineer and front desk were very kind but they never made any offer for the problems we faced. Even soap wasn't left in the room by housekeeping.

I have stayed at several hotels in Rehoboth Beach over the years. Decided to give this hotel a try. I will not visit again. There are no amenities offered. The hotel is outdated. The only plus is the room was oceanfront. I requested late check out upon check in, and this was not documented. I confirmed late check out the morning of check out, and was told it was not documented, and not possible. My sister, who was staying with me, addressed the issue with the same front desk personnel, and we were able to get late check out until noon. This was embarrassing. Very poor communication from staff and no amenities. I will continue to visit the Avenue Inn as well as the Belmoor moving forward. The staff respects their guests at these 2 hotels. There is no respect at this hotel. This hotel has nothing going for it other than if a guest chooses to book an oceanfront room. There is no breakfast, cocktail hour, hot tub nor pool. Very poor lighting. The bed is uncomfortable. However, the room was very clean. The location of the hotel is amazing. This hotel can only ride on its name for so long when nothing else is offered.

People who just need beach access this is perfect hotel as right on boardwalk. But other than rooms dont expect anything from hotel.
Front staff at checkin was rude.. rooms are basic with very small bathroom.
Nothing to do at hotel, not even a decent lobby space where u can sit , lobby was there but small. Only and only for summer. We went in April and was not worth the visit.

Though I booked my room via Expedia to get a more affordable price for myself, I loved the hospitality I received from the staff! Izzy was extremely helpful at check-in. Usually, when I book via third-party sites, the hotel places me in a less desirable room. But Henlopen Hotel did not do that; I received the wonderful suite I reserved. I have already told my friends who are planning to book an oceanfront room at Rehoboth Beach, to make sure they try Henlopen Hotel!

Stayed in the room with a kitchen, which had 2 doors to enter; however one was obstructed. The \"kitchen\" didn't have working hot water at all. When I notified staff at the desk 2 times, they acted shocked. Based on other reviews this has been reported previously. Wasn't able to check in until after official check in time. Primary room has a keurig and mini-refrigerator, which turned off with the main light switch so there went our leftovers. The room was barely swept; hair that didn't belong to anyone in our party in the bathroom and rug in the kitchen. Food was also left/ not cleaned out of the cabinets. We were there during off-season so perhaps that don't have regular staff, but no hot water made the kitchen feature useless.

Heat didn’t consistently work. Black mold in tub stopper and hair in tub. Went to get into room and batteries on door lock was dying. Spent 30 mins with desk clerk at check in trying to get into room and then by sheer luck I got in. The next morning the desk clerk and main guy tried telling us there was nothing wrong with the door and then I had to escort the maintenance gentleman up so he could see the lock wasn’t working. Turns out the batteries were indeed dying/dead and that’s why we couldn’t get in. Spent more time trying to get into the room and cleaning the room. Should not have to do this. Stayed here prior and was great but has fallen into disrepair in recent times.

We visited off season, so yes things are slower and they are gearing up renovations for the summer season. The bathroom was very cold because there are no vents in there. This is kind of expected since the hotel is older. We kept the door closed to keep the room warmer. Staff was friendly, inviting and very helpful. Yes I would recommend a stay here.

Property was under construction in the parking areas. We could park on the street at this time of year, so it was ok. The staff was kind. The hotel amenities are basic, place to stay. There is a microwave and refrigerator in room. It is at the top of the boardwalk, completely walkable to the main boardwalk area. A little park behind the hotel with a pond was a nice break from the windy ocean side. Really worked for a quick weekend.

The ocean view and oceanfront location was amazing! But come prepared because there are no further amenities. No body wash, Q tips, cotton balls, thermostat, restaurant, bottled water, tea bags/hot water, paper towels in the kitchenette. But if beach proximity is your top goal, you’re traveling with kids and you pack well: it’s a good spot for that. Large room, nicely furnished. Great location near all of the downtown businesses accessible by walking the boardwalk.

First unit they assigned us had water leaking from the ceiling in the bathroom. Upon notifying the front desk, they called maintenance which I found quite peculiar, I expected them to move us to a new room first. Maintenance came and confirmed and suggested we get a new room. They assign us the unit right next to the leaky ceiling one. I asked if that was wise because it seemed ro me that if the ceiling was leaking, it wouldnt just be the kne room. Anywho...we went to the neighboring unit. At 1st glance, everything looked fine. We went to dinner, came back to water on the floor and the ceiling buckling from water. Back to front desk, this time we got a room on the floor below. From that point on, the stay was fine. The hotel is right on the beach - on the quiet side but walking distance to the action. I liked that they have vinyl flooring, hotel carpets can be gross. The unit was pretty clean but there were several pieces of stray hairs about the room. They advertise as queen sized beds but they are not, they are double. Overall, not my jam but for a lil weekend stay in October, it was fine. It's kind of weird...you enter the hotel lobby, go up via elevator but then when you get to the floor, its open, like you're outside so it feels like a motel. And the bathroom is really really small.

First night was good, obviously there was no one in the room aside of us.
Second night, we were in a room that was adjoining to the one aside of us. We did not request an adjoining room nor did we know the people in the other room, but we could hear everything they said through the pass door into the other room. We clearly heard their tv, and their conversations.
Really made our stay quite uncomfortable.

This hotel has a good location. I could open my balcony door because the unit next to me was constantly smoking pot. When I’d open the door it would just fill my room. I complained to the older blond lady finally at 10 at night and she simply said “sorry nothing I can do about it”. Very disappointing experience. Location is good though.
