We arrived almost 2 hours earlier than expected, but front desk person was very accommodating and we were allowed to check in early (We were going to a wedding about a mile away). The room was very clean, and although we didn’t take advantage of the complimentary coffee and snacks, it was nice to know of their availability.

It’s not a luxury hotel, but it’s a nice one. You can hear the traffic, but it’s in walking distance of shops, restaurants and the beach. The rates are a lot more reasonable than nearby resorts hotels. I would happily stay at the Dunes again.

If you have a pet, this is the place for you. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Upon arrival, our dog received a little gift bag and a toy. We had access to all-day coffee (available after 8 AM) and snacks, and there was a special dog bath for after those sandy beach visits. The room was clean and spacious with a fridge and microwave. If we are in the area again, we wouldn't have to think twice about where we would be staying; it would be at The Dunes.

Pros: The location is great. It’s by the beach and not too far from Dewey strip where the shops, restaurants and bars are located. There is a trolley which picks you up at the stops and goes to the strip and Rehoboth beach. The nearest stop is only 10 minutes away. It’s $7 round trip for adults which is cheaper than paying for the parking during the summer season. The beach is only 10-15 mins walking distance to the hotel. The hotel is also dog friendly. It’s a safe location and family friendly. It’s not loud either.
Cons: The rooms need renovation. My table was broken. The door was difficult to open and close. There is no coffee maker in the room. You have to go to the office to get coffee which is inconvenient in the mornings especially since they open at 8am.

From the moment you arrive you are met with the friendliest and most accommodating staff. It is a simple hotel with very clean rooms. It is pet friendly and they have all you need to care for your pet after a day on the beach....pet cleaning area with bath and area to dry.

Okay stay, except wet dirt smell & tv not working
I've stayed at The Dunes many times before. I like thatvthey allow pets. It's one of the reasons my wife and I usually stay there. That and the proximity to the beach we like to go to in Delaware Seashore State Park.
Our stay this time, however, wasn't so great. The room itself was clean, but there was a strong smell of wet dirt inside the room. We checked everything and we found out the smell was coming from the air conditioner.
I figured I would just get used to the smell and nose blind to it after a while, which wasn't the case the first night, but was the case the second night. My dog that was with us, didn't seem to be bothered by the smell.
Then there was the issue of the tv not working. We could use the remote to turn the tv on and change the volume level, but that was it. When we turned it on, since we couldn't get to the channel guide or change the channel, our only option was the Hallmark channel which was playing Christmas themed movies. Thankfully, my wife brought her laptop and a hdmi cable so we connected her laptop to the tv and were able to watch the Olympics.
Other than those 2 issues, our stay was fine. We were on the first floor, which we liked because we had our dog with us. We like the proximity to everything. They have a little dog bathing area outside that you can wash your dog and yourself off after a day at the beach.
We'll most likely stay there again in the future.

The front desk called the police on an AF woman who was involved in domestic dispute that didn't involve any weapons or immediate danger to anyone before the 9p hour. The front desk people never came out to assist or ask was everything OK. Instead, they denied an already paid in full stay with no refund.

My daughter and I stayed here for a lacrosse tournament and it was awesome! Great price, comfy beds, clean, sweet decor, free snacks, coffee and best of all we could walk to the beaches and boardwalk. The houses around this area are super bougie so that was fun to see when we were exploring. We will definitely stay here when we come to play sports up in Frederica again!!!

My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights during the July 4th weekend and it was great! It was a close 7 minute walk to Dewey beach, near restaurants, and also walkable to the jolly trolley stop.
The room was simple, clean, and perfect for a short stay.

The “breakfast” was a fruit basket, granola bars and coffe in an office that is locked till 830AM. Our door was so hard to push open almost jammed shut. The tv took forever to turn on (not kidding) had to turn the power button in and wait two minutes for it to kick on. Our neighbors were drunk and fighting at 2am that someone called the cops.

The hotel is located in between Dewey Beach and Rehoboth Beach. You can easily walk to Dewey and the Main Street area on a safe sidewalk. Walking to Regoboth would not be easy- due to lack of sidewalks and distance. Biking yes. The staff was very nice here. Rates the best for the area and DOG friendly.

Perfect Location, Friendly and Comfortable
This hotel is the perfect location for being able to walk to Dewey and Rehoboth beaches. The rooms are cute and comfortable, and there are a variety of free snacks and coffee available in the lobby. Beth was very welcoming at check-in and gave great tips on how to get around the area.

The room was dirty if you locked up in the corners and up by a light on the ceiling, there were cobwebs. When they come in declaring the room, all they did was exchange. The towels they didn't actually clean the room, which was pretty pathetic. I would not recommend any one stay here. I will never stay here again. In my 65 years of life it was by far the worst bed I ever slept in. I've slept on floors that were more comfortable than that. And the noise out front from all the traffic was horrendous. And then the person next to us had one of those yappy, dogs who just laughed at bark. And bark and bark, and the People that run the motel didn't do anything about it, which was also pathetic. I would give it zero stars if possible. Someone else wrote not to pay attention to all the good reviews. And I agree with that person one hundred per cent. Spend extra money go Somewhere else? If you stay there, you'll be sorry. Our last night there. The bed was so bad. We slept less than two hours and got up at six o'clock in the morning and left. Don't stay there. Go somewhere else. Or you'll find out the hard way as we did.

It's conveniently located for vacations near Dewey or Rehoboth Beach. I was pretty happy with how easy it was to make multiple trips back and forth from the boardwalk and my hotel in one day. As for the facilities, you can tell this is an older building, but it's been maintained and kept clean, and the hotel staff were extremely kind and helpful. That bumps it up a rank in my opinion. And it was perfectly convenient to the boardwalk, though you have to drive, and a Wawa was close by. The staff here was very very nice. The lady who seemed like the owner was exceptionally nice and welcoming. Our room though was kind of gross. There were 3 long black hairs still in the shower and black hair on the sheets. My family has blonde hair. Also the cleaners were a little weird. Anytime we came out of the elevator or had to pass them they wouldn't move. The one time we tried to get off elevator and there was a few of them and they literally wouldn't move. We even said excuse me. That happened several times. I probably wouldn't go back.

Decent little motel. Nothing fancy. Plenty of parking. Easy check in/out. Not somewhere i would stay for more than a night or two, but if your just looking for a decent place to sleep over night, it’s perfect.

My wife and i love staying here because they allow dogs and our dog goes everywhere with us. It's also perfectly located between Rehoboth and Dewey/Delaware Seashore State Park. You can easily ride your bike into Rehoboth for dinner. The only thing that was negative about our stay this time is that the bathroom smelled mildew-y and you could see that the shower curtain liner was orange with mildew. Other than that, we always enjoy staying at The Dunes and will definitely stay again.
