Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Canal side Inn. So did my furry companion Frankie, who was well greeted by the owners and other pets alike. Guests were equally friendly, those with 2 feet. The room was lovely for a single traveler and dog. It was especially nice being in a residential neighborhood with the canal right outside the doorstep, lovely scenery, easy walking distance to Rehoboth Beach Perfect four-day vacation to clear the mind with easy access to all that you would want in Rehobeth.

I booked the family suite which said it had two separate sleeping areas, each with a king size bed, a separate dining area and a private kitchen with full size fridge, overhead mounted microwave, etc.
I had just completed cancer treatment and was traveling for my birthday with a long-time friend. Who has early onset Alzheimer’s and my dog. We stayed here because it sounded perfect to keep an eye on my friend while giving him his space without distractions or having to have my dog on top of him as well as allow us to dine in since crowded spaces can be problematic for him.
When we arrived our room was a double room with 2 queen beds, a microwave mounted below a counter and a small fridge – NONE OF WHAT WE EXPECTED.
After contacting management, I was told that they don’t have a “Family Suite” (listed on their webpage) but that it’s called a “Beach Suite” and that’s not what we booked….. He went to the matt with me that I booked a double room. When I informed him, I was looking at my receipt and I indeed booked the “Family Suite” he told me Expedia sent him the wrong reservation and that Expedia sent a reservation for a double room. I insisted I was looking at the receipt on Expedia and it definitely stated they/I booked the suite. He went on to tell me there was NO SUITE”. I told him I was looking at the pictures on their listing and described the suite to him he told me he would have to look into it and get back to me, asking me to “hang tight” this was at 1:09pm the

Pet friendly, small and very easy. Glad I could go directly to the room without waiting due to having dogs. Wish rooms had a little more back support (headboard, pillows), lighting/AC wasn't working well and hot tub did break but staff was great in accommodating as best they could. Love how pet friendly they are, dogs had an amazing time, best dog friendly hotel I've been to (even option for a large quiet basement suite if your pup is reactive). It is also a great walk to the beach or to take a bike (dogs are allowed on the boardwalk/beach from late September to early May) but even just the trails and dog friendly restaurants it is worth a stay if you have furry friends!

Amazing stay, wonderful staff. Traveled with our dog and it was a short getaway trip as a couple. We enjoyed our time and beach was a short drive. Walking distance to breakfast and coffee restaurants. Did a lot of shopping but we drive to shop to have our car for storing stuff but you could walk to some shops.

We booked the family deluxe suite. In the website on the pictures and description, it gives the illusion that the suite has separate bedrooms however it’s a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom suite only. The second bed is in the dining area behind a mirror. There were only 2 beds. WiFi connection was pretty poor and the televisions were very dark. You could barely see the screens.
We were provided a code to have access to the inn however it never worked. We would have to call constantly to be let into the inn even though we paid to be there. It was a huge hassle and pretty disappointing to not have access to our room at our leisure.
Parking was scarce and they’re were no noise consideration. It was very loud all throughout the night. Banging, stomping and yelling. It was very uncomfortable.
The room had no thermostat to regular during this hot summer. It had a humidifier inside the room only. It was extremely hot during our stay and inside smelled of dogs.
I wouldn’t come back here nor recommend.

The entire property seems run down and certainly not maintained. Exterior had dirty railing, exterior doors and there was a rain barrel full of stagnant water with mosquitoes and other bugs.
The so called dog showers was shower head at human height. Absolutely no way to clean a dog properly after a day on the beach.
The coffee/lounge are consisted of one pot of coffee. No stirrers or spoons and sugar rock hard in the container.
Our room which I assumed wrongly would look like the website. Absolutely did not.
Our room had broken shades, lights which did not work properly with the remotes and the ceiling fan was filthy.
The (two) advertised robes was one robe with no belt.
The one queen bed with a duvet was wrinkled and bunched on the bed.
The doggy towel which was advertised was indeed a sheet. We had to wash the dog bowl because it had dried particles in it. There was no rug located into the entrance of the room to catch sand and dirt so as a result we had to ask for a broom and dust pan which I was told to collect from the downstairs area.
The broom was splayed and dirty.
So we ended up wiping the floor by hand with damp towels.
The outdoor chairs and tables were equally dirty.
I am not a person who complains as a rule.
This however was over the top opposite to the website.
We were there for an event and had no time to relocate.
I will give high regards to Beth the cleaner on the property. She went to great lengths to find a hose for us to wash our dog.

Great pet-friendly alternative to vacation home
The Canalside inn is a great property just inside Rehoboth beach as you cross the canal. It's very walkable to everywhere or you can rent a bike from them too. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and the community kitchen/social area is a big bonus. The management should put a sign up to make it clear, the food that's placed in the community fridge is NOT for community consumption--someone ate my breakfast.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend it as an excellent pet-friendly hotel.

It's in a good location on a low traffic street. It is absolutely not a 4 Star hotel, its a 12 room airbnb for people with dogs. There is no staff, every time I open the door to the upstairs hallway i got hit with the smell of dog poo. The \"deluxe king\" room I booked has no closet or dresser to unpack and not much room to put a suitcase to live out of. I live in a tiny efficiency apartment and felt cramped here.

Tucked away gem in the heart of Rehoboth Beach
This is my first time staying at an independent property, rather than a name brand, so I was a little unsure at first, but they’re pet friendly and close to where we wanted to be for the weekend - something hard to find in season. The property has a nice curb appeal, it’s a little older of a building, but still quaint. The room was an even nicer surprise: well appointed, extremely comfortable mattress, pillows, and bedding. The bathroom had wonderfully thick towels, although a little challenging in storage space — but I tend to pack more toiletries than anyone person needs. The room itself had ample storage. A mini-fridge and microwave were nice amenities, as was the mood lighting, and French doors to patio. The service was excellent, any point of contact was pleasant and helpful. The pool and hot tub looked well kept, although we didn’t use them. You can tell the family who owns this property is putting a lot of love into it. We would certainly stay again. They have a fair price point, and provide a genuine sense of hospitality.

We stayed here in the off season, near Christmas. The town was busy but it was nice and quiet back there. We were happy to find a hotel off the main road for that reason. The room was well appointed and comfortable. The hotel was very nice though couldn't use all of the amenities due to the season. Loved that it was dog friendly and lots of roads to walk dogs nearby in the neighborhood. Everything was remote entry but it was very convenient. We'd definitely stay here in the main season too. Very convenient to the main road and restaurants, etc.

Loved how they welcomed pets so kindly. But, they pointed out very directly that if there was any accidents that immediately must contact office. Yet no staff on site immediately and they charge for any clean up even if you do yourself. Also how they charge for a towel which we were shorted and paid for the extra guest. Didn’t like the fact that I had to use black washcloth or they would charge me something like $20. They were kind talking to but when you read all paperwork in room made it seem very intimidating.

On top of the conditions of the room being gross, the hotel forced me to pay the pet fee for my service animal, grossly misinterpreting the ADA guidelines for service animals. The policy states, directly from their own website, “Under the ADA laws, the hotel cannot charge an extra fee for the service animal as they would another client with a pet.” MEANING, the hotel cannot charge the extra fee ($40) for the service animal as they CAN charge for a guest staying with their pet. The owner’s comprehension of this rule is skewed and I suggest he ask around to other hotels and hotel owners to see he is absolutely wrong.

This was my first visit to Rehoboth, and the location of Canalside is perfect~ it is a short walk (for us!) to the Boardwalk, walking distance to restaurants and shops.

It is a very charming property. Unique and quaint like a bed and breakfast. It could use an exterminator as there were mosquitoes and bugs in my room. It is dog friendly but there are no dog receptacles anywhere outside the property so there was poop everywhere. The pet policy is not clear if you go through a travel website.

A hidden gem!! Surpassed all our expectations. Twelve quiet clean beautifully decorated rooms. A block off Rehoboth Ave across the street from the canal and 2 minutes to the beach, restaurants, bars and shops! Can’t wait to go back. The hosts were amazing and made it feel like home. You will not be disappointed!!

Great, stylish hotel in great location. Close to downtown Rehoboth Beach but not right in the middle of all of the crowds. Great job on the decorating, very professional. Good breakfast...the only small gripe I had was that someone called me on the phone to discuss late check-in procedures and what time I would be arriving and I inquired about breakfast, and I was told there would be one Sunday A.M. but he said, \"I'm not so sure about Monday...\" As it turns out, breakfast is provided every day but I had bought something at the store to eat in my room Monday A.M. ...I wasn't going to make the effort to get up and get dressed if he wasn't \"so sure\" there would be breakfast. I found out when I checked out that it is every day. No biggie. Still a great stay.

Staff were nice and accommodating but the room itself was not as user friendly as anticipated based on the pictures on the website. The bathroom was just too tight. There was no elbow room to properly use the sink and the toilet rocked from side to side. Additionally, the drapes did not close well. We had to use chairs and a table to keep them shut for privacy.

This is a lovely boutique style hotel. It was clean and quiet and super close to downtown Rehoboth. Our only complaint was a ver curt and not so friendly desk clerk/manager. He barely acknowledged our existence when we would walk by for the complimentary breakfast offered in the lower level (8a-10a sharp) The tone was set at check in, no warm and fuzzies here. Overall, a nice hotel, but not the bed and breakfast welcoming atmosphere we were expecting or hoping for.

Have a second thought about this one folks.
Run by very uninterested hosts from reception to general interactions. The room hotel was well decorated from Home Goods, but dusty shelves and glasses were distracting. The rooms are adjoined to another and is not very private (just a regular door) with signs saying to keep TV and conversations low. The bed is an inappropriate Murphy bed that most would use in an emergency guest situations in a small apartment. Not comfortable and noisy. But the worst is the AC that churns out a loud fan noise and makes it very noisy possibly for \"both\" the rooms. Hot tub leaks. Breakfast one dimensional and far too simple. Housekeeping overtly suggest tips by sticking an envelop to the TV screen. Mmmmm.

The Inn is very nice and clean. Very nice decor and really nice little pool with Hot tub area. The bathroom toilet needs some tightening because when you sit on it it would move, but overall the room was nice. I just think the front desk staff could be a bit nicer and so many rules... signs all over the place, don't do this, don't do that. In addition, if you have a dog in your room in the cage they will not come into the room to clean. you have to let them know when you and the Dog are not in the room so that they can clean because they said that dogs bark at vacuum cleaners... They make you sign a document and initial that you understand that quite hour is at 10pm..

Very easy check-in, all was ready when I came. The room was great, a small appartment with a kitchenette. All was clean, comfortable bed, very nice. No problem getting a late checkout on Sunday (I was running a race Sunday morning). All in all a very good place to stay in Rehoboth Beach.

Boutique inn/hotel located on a quiet lane next to small watercraft canal and two blocks off the main thorofare. Shops, restaurants, cafes, businesses all within an easy 7-10 minute walk. Lovely porch with several seating areas, plus upstairs balcony with Adirondack chairs and lounge chairs. Deck with small pool and hot tub in-season. I am not one for crowded beaches and boardwalks and was perfectly content to remain in or near the property; however, the beach and boardwalk are only a ten-minute drive away.

We enjoyed the stay very much. The inn was well kept and very clean. The decor was modern and well put together. Staff was very polite. My fiancé was pleasantly surprised at the fact there was even makeup removers in the bathroom. Overall I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.

winter weekend getaway at the beach
Went down to Rehobeth for a quick winter weekend getaway for the polar bear plunge. Decided to stay at a new place, and found the Canalside Inn on Expedia for an awesome deal. Was excited to see that the establishment lived up to its excellent rating; I was very impressed. From the moment you step foot on the huge welcoming porch, to the moment you are greeted by the super friendly owner, it couldn’t be better The rooms were fresh and modern and the staff was exceptionally attentive. Will definitely go back!

The only item that prevented the stay being perfect was a rude housekeeping staff who left a note saying that we MUST request room cleaning in a morning before 11am when we never requested it later than 10.45am!
