The hotel itself was good, and the room was cleaned every day. However, the location was very disappointing. The beach closest to the hotel was closed, so we had to take three buses to reach Mondello Beach.

The area around the hotel smelled strongly of rubbish, and it was very noisy because of the nearby bus depot, with buses constantly sounding their horns. Public transport was unreliable, as the buses to the city centre were often late. There were also no shops, restaurants, or other facilities within walking distance.

Unfortunately, the city centre also smelled of rubbish, which made the overall experience even less enjoyable. Because of these issues, I would not recommend this hotel, and I would not choose to visit Sicily again.

The first room we were given there was no working AC. It took contacting the front desk 3 times for them to finally tell us that it was broken in the room and they couldn't fix it. They then offered us a different room that was not on the renovated portion of the hotel. So we move rooms and this room was only slightly better. The AC was at least somewhat functional, but not nearly as functional as the ones in the working renovated rooms. There were plastered up holes on the walls and mold in the shower. The next day the only light went completely out in the bathroom and it took going to the front desk another three times to get that fixed. The breakfast was decent and there is sufficient parking, but could not in good conscience recommend this hotel.

Great hotel & very much enjoyed my stay. The room was clean and cleaned everyday, plenty of toiletries available. The breakfast (included) was great and had lots of options as well as being very tasty. There is a small gym which does the job and definitely better than most hotel gyms. Free car park with plenty of space which was ideal. Great views and lots of space to sit outside or in the lobby. The staff were all so kind, friendly and helpful. Overall, was a great hotel and would highly recommend.

Much cooler, but no electrics. Complained, but elecs not repaired until following day at 1130pm, post further complaints. Problem was shorted out hairdryer & trip switches, all needing replaced. Bathroom also in bad repair (extractor not working & toliet seat loose & broken). Electric kept going off at times & needed electricians to attend/reset. Room cooler, but very poor decor. Self serve breakfast on 14th floor very basic & guests chased away at 10am, because they want to clear/clean room by 10am (despite breakfast being 7-10am). Noise & disruption of many student parties also totally unbearable, staff unhelpful, rooms/facilities a disaster, pool was closed & food poor. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Totally avoid this torturious hotel!

I realized on the last night that the room was so cold and noisy because the window hadnt and wouldnt close all the way. The hotel is old. They put two single mattresses together. Sheets didnt fit. Pulled out at once. A little out of the way. I walked to station in twenty minutes. Wouldnt advise it at night. Easyjet got me in four hours late and a cab charged me 15e. Bfst was ok. One day i return3d and the safe was open. Maybe i forgot. Nothing missing. I told them and they couldnt have cared less. There may be a conad down the street.

Toilet flush broke, after we arrived (was quickly fixed)

Swimming pool only open at certain times, and you need to buy a 2 euro swimming cap to enter the pool

We got a quiet room on the 9th floor with a great view of the ocean. Rooms could use some updating to meet the 4 stars the hotel claims itself to be but it was comfortable for our needs and the bathroom was decent. Their continental breakfast was a highlight and had a variety of pastries, savory buns, some hot items like scrambled eggs and bacon, and a good selection of grains, fruits and drinks. The dining room was located on the top floor with a panoramic view of Palermo. There’s a rooftop swimming pool but wasn’t open in March. Location may not be ideal for travelers on foot but there’s free parking for the car inclined. I would definitely stay here again.

The area around the hotel is dirty. The hotel staff were very friendly.

I spent 7 days in this hotel. Everyday there where 2 -4 buses full of school children around 6 pm. It was an absolute ZOO. Kids wouldn't let me off the elevator.

Bottom line, teachers couldn't control the mobs of children coming into and out of this hotel.

Get a hotel in a cleaner part of Palermo.

The worst hotel I ever stayed in. They advertised A/v in the rooms but it hasn’t been working for over a year since there were other reviews saying the same thing. The room was dirty and outdated. The beds were horrible my wife found hair in the made bed. The only positive was the view. It was breathtaking.

The pool area was ok , but the staff try to rip you off for money . We were given a bill on checkout which did not relate to what we had eaten or what the city tax should have been. I queried the city tax as he said 32 euros was correct for 2 nights he then halved this to 16 which was still incorrect as the new rates don’t apply till October the 1st . They don’t get you to sign in the restaurant this is so they can make your bill whatever they wish . I ended up paying a wholly incorrect amount just so I could leave - as I didn’t want to miss my train . Restaurant staff seemed nice but pay as you go or you will get ripped off - my advice avoid and stay somewhere else . I intend claiming a refund from my card provider for the overpayments they have wrongly taken .

After 5 days cycling across Sicily I was really looking forward to relaxing at the rooftop pool before catching the ferry to Cagliari the following day.

At reception I was informed the pool was closed that day only for an emergency problem. I got the feeling this was a regular and convenient excuse so be careful fellow travelers when booking this hotel for the pool it promotes heavily. I saw no-one in a rush to fix the emergency for guests either so wonder whether it would really be fixed by the next day. I left early morning so had no chance to find this out.

When checking out I asked for a small discount (just wanted to see them make a little gesture, even a bottle of water might have been something) on leaving on account that they had not fulfilled their part of the offer. I was told they could not do this but I could refuse to pay my bar biil if I liked and they would report this. I didn't appreciate having their issue represented back to me as a defaulting customer in this way so paid the bill and decided to write this review instead.

The hotel itself was dated, the bedroom was quite acceptable although the bathroom was certainly in need of modernizing.

The neighbourhood was a bit rundown, ok for walking through in daylight hours but I would have been more anxious after dark. The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the historic centre and there appeared little choice of local restaurants so you will probably need a taxi to go in abs or if the city to eat at night.

Great pool and breakfast- location on beach but a long walk from center of town in the boiling heat- reception nice and friendly. My only issue was the lack of wifi in the room. No matter how many times I asked- there was no wifi and so I could not use my computer in that private space. Also no Spanish or English subtitles working on TV- I learned a lot of Italian watching it. Really a great deal for the price other than wifi!!

San Paulo hotel was a wonderful experience. We got our room on the 11th floor with a sea view and we woke up to the sea view and sunrise everyday from the window in our room.
We found the hotel very safe and generally quiet with excellent breakfast and facilities.
The staff were courteous and very helpful and the experience surpassed our expectations.

We stayed at the hotel during the Memorial Day long weekend, and the hotel refused to turn on the central controlled air conditioning saying it would only be on after June 1 - same as the outdoor pool. The hotel staff said the only way to get the air flowing inside the hot room is to open the window. However, the outside traffic is noisy while the window is open, and it only helped a little. In addition, when asked to have a fan put inside the room, the hotel staff said they would send one, but they did not even after we followed up twice. Besides these critical points, the hotel also does not have drinking water glasses and refuse to provide wine glasses for the room quoting security concern, which is obviously an excuse not to provide glasses. The hotel offer plastic cups instead. The hotel is also very old, but the most unsatisfying part is the poor service and finding excuses not to provide property basic hotel functioning service.

The property is in a very dirty area. The outside of the property looks very good but the inside is very dated. The beds are hard and the bath rooms dated in the 70 s

Pleasant clean high rise hotel from the 90s

Very clean rooms with great harbour views from the top floors . Value for money with breakfast included and a 12 minute walk to the promenade and the botánical gardens . The hotel is a bit dated but spacious offering dinner from 730 pm .

We couldn't sleep well for the entirety of our trip because our mattresses were rock hard. We did complain about this to the staff who seemed helpful and promised to look into it but did nothing. Our room was also very dated and stuffy. The common areas were all fantastic though.The location of the hotel is also not ideal, although not far from the city (half an hour walking distance) it is in a very dodge area.The receptionists were very reluctant to book the 'free' shuttle service which we gave up asking for.

Hotel was horrible: check in was ok, lobby has been majorly updated. Got to our room with nice view of ocean. Stains all over outdated carpet. Fridge didn’t work, beds were like rocks, sheets had stains, shower had mold. We checked out after first night of a two night stay and were still charged the city tax didn’t offer to change rooms or refund just said ok so we left.

Breakfast every morning was excellent. We also ate there one night and the food as well as service were always exceptional. The staff were so helpful, I can't emphasise that enough! Always pleasant, spoke multiple languages and recommended some great tourist sites when asked.

However unless you have a car or are travelling on a bus tour it is not located in a nice area. The city buses were irregular and walking from the hotel during the day made us feel uneasy but at night, it was very unsafe, dark and something which made us feel scared. Also the beach across the road from the hotel is not safe for bathing.

Very dated hotel, badly needs renovation

Unfortunately we would not stay in this hotel again. It is just that bit too far out from Palermo, €15.00-20.00 into Palermo and €17.00-25.00 out, depending on who you got!! Facilities not good - corridor carpets really dirty and terrible smell. Noise above our room from the kitchen absolutely horrendous late into the night (up to 2.00am and started again at 6.00am), including drilling! View from our \"suite\" was a building site, The male reception staff really lovely and professional but found couple of feamale receptionists very rude, left us waiting to speak to them while they chatted between themselves as if we didn't exist even though we tried to get their attention. Bar tiny, 6 seats but bar manager really helpful and excellent, the best, one saving grace. A real shame as this hotel does have great potential.

if you need a place to stay in Rende...

This was really just a stay along the highway, so no sights to visit, but it was not as convenient as I had hoped. Even though it was VERY close to the A road, the access point was not there. Also, it was a business hotel, but the internet was very spotty. But it was a nice room and great breakfast. The area is just a busy area, not bery pretty or interesting, but there was a supermercato not too far away that was fantastic!

Average hotel, walking distance to city centre.

Although the hotel is rated 4 stars, I would expect more than this place can offer. The room was spacious, but suffered on decorations and has poor furniture. The bed was good, the pillows not that confortable. The view towards the sea was spoiled by rough imagines of underconstruction sites and untermaintained areas. The nice surprise was the 14th floor swimming pool in open air, well mainteined.
Breakfast offered the same thing every day, plenty of cakes, croissants and other similar stuff, cheese, salami, ham, scrambled eggs, bacon, yogurt, fruits.
The main road in front of the hotel is quite noisy day and night, the ambulances run up and down the road with the sirens at maximum level even night time.
Parking is ok, although can be busy in the night and may struggle to find a free spot or passing along parked cars.

Hotel is located in a run down area and far from the city centre. Hotel does not provide any transfers/shuttle bus to the city centre. Staff speak little English, so we struggled to communicate with them/. Staff also seemed reluctant to help when asking for some more information on the area. However there is a guy who works at the bar who is very friendly and helpful. We had two rooms, one was good but the other had a very stiff door which needed to be slammed shut and forcefully opened. The air conditioning in one of the rooms was also very noisy. Rooms have nice views.

The staff and rooms were pleasant. The area in which the hotel is in was a bit sketchy. But the free breakfast was delicious and the staff was very helpful.

One of the guests was mugged and robbed at 7pm right across the street from the hotel.wallet. credit cards and money taken. Beaten up and alet bruised. Great pool with beautiful view, rooms in decent condition

Palace amongst Poverty

Wouldn't choose to come here again, we did walk into the city(for meals and a drink) passing an undesirable area, if the Hotel had been closer it would have been far better. Felt a bit scared to be honest.
Did hire a car!!! I don't recommend driving in Palermo, not even the Sicilians out of town do! To see Palermo by night the harbour and the old cobbled streets was lovely, wished I'd gone for my first choice out of the city which definately required a car, the beautiful beaches are far away, Balestrate,San Vito lo Copa, even Mondello is ok. There is a beach in Palermo if you want to call it that!!
Rooms need updating basics. Reception communal area presented better than other areas.No kettle, take a travel one. No normal facilities that you get in a Holiday Inn type of hotel.
Spotted a NH hotel closer to town, should've checked this one out prior to booking.
But hey had a great time, people are lovely, toured around, went up Etna 3.5 hours drive! Tried the above beaches

Nice hotel, poor location, some maintenance needed

Friendly staff, we booked a double and a single bed and were only given a double. This was quickly rectified by giving us 3 single beds - Ok. But air con was not very strong and an electrical plug in the bathroom had come away from the wall and looked very dangerous. Good beds, good breakfast, good restaurant, including an excellent multi-course meal by the pool for a local public holiday. But location was the worst factor. About 30 mins walk to the train station and another 15 minutes walk to city centre. No other restaurants in the immediate area. If the location was better, we would recommend the hotel. But we suggest trying to find something closer to station/city. However, you get what you pay for and we did get a very good price.

The MOST rude and unhelpful staff I have ever seen

Palermo is great.
This hotel is rubbish. Really old, far and dirty.
But the worst part of it was the staff. Extremely unhelpful, rude (Italians are lovely friendly people, so NO, it's got nothing to do with Italy or the South) These people were AWFUL! They only seem to be able to say 'no', that's it, 'no' to this, 'no' to that. Even things advertised on their website, they still didn't offer, instead, they would just say 'no' - Also! I speak Italian, so wasn't even a language thing. Awful, awful, awful, again, I hightly recommend NOT staying here.

Great hotel with a stupendous breakfast

We chose this hotel as it was just outside the central part of Palermo. Arriving late in the evening found us a little disappointed as it is on a busy dirty road which was somewhat unattractive. However the bonus for us, was the sea view and the quality of the hotel and the incredible choice for breakfast - including sicilian canolis, fresh fruit, cooked breakfast and much more.

Tired hotel with poor breakfast and 2 cockroaches

It is a bog hotel and so rooms are with a seasview. As it wasnt the season yet we got a seaview and a kingsize bed. But fiund two cockroaches during our stay, breakfast was very poor, seimming poor not open(only during the season). Very old furniture , ancient phone in the room. But the rooms very cleaned everyday and we did not pay a lot. However, I would not recommend it.

Disappointing Stay

This is by no means a 4 star. Very unloved and dated hotel. Expect nothing less that rude staff to greet you and inedible breakfasts. This place is further out than it initially seems so don't be fooled by the low prices - taxi fares will make up for this. Shocked at how this can be a 4 star hotel - I believe this needs to be reviewed urgently.

Nice hotel with a great view of the harbour.

The hotel is very attractive with a great view on the ocean and harbour. We had a great dinner in the resturant. Located close to many restaurants and bars. We also overlooked a park with a soccer field. Indoor parking, WiFi, and breakfast are included. Great value for the cost and a great stay.

Why stay anywhere else?

A 2km walk from the main city through a vibrant area, with street vendors and community parties happening nightly.More importantly, although it looks a bit rough, the area feels safe. Hotel is in excellent condition, our room, with a seaview, was massive, modernly furnished and spotless, with very effective blackout curtains. Plenty of parking,(ignore the one-way signs on the roads outside, everyone else in Sicily does!)and a large, varied breakfast is included. Rooftop pool is busy, again with great views and with a piano bar too! If you're not afraid of heights, try the scenic lift from the ground floor to the pool.

Clean & convienent

Stayed a few nights to see Palermo on our way home from Scapello country side. The hotel is downtown and has a pool to cool off. (must wear bathing caps, available for sale at pool) Easy bus downtown and cab ride to Airport reasonable.

Very nice lobby, but the rooms are dated.

The hotel is nice, but it's not in a very nice area. The rooms were very clean, but they were not on par with the hotel rating. The restaurant was very good, and the service was top notch. Overall, I was satisfied.

Comfort and space!

It's easy to be comfortable here; rooftop pool, decent breakfasts and spacious rooms. Some may not be keen on the walk to the centre of Palermo, but it's only 30 mins or so.
