Once we got there it was fabulous but getting there was a nightmare. Taxi to the property was 65 euro but took the bus to the train station for 10 euro. Taxis are thieves.

Hotel is situated next to a dormant volcano, I would recommend hiring a car if staying here, it's a fair walk and steep to get anywhere. The hotel is pleasant, staff are very professional however it is very quiet and I dont recommend eating at the hotel, the quality and price of meals in the local area is a lot better. The pool is nice and the rooms are clean with good air conditioning and the views from the balcony are probably the best in the area. The train station is a 20 minute walk away with good connections. 30 min walk to the sea front.

Nice hotel, beautiful view of the ocean/downtown

Very nice experience with excellent staff. The location is not downtown and you will need a car or taxi service to get to any restaurants besides the hotel facilities.

The hotel is situated overlooking Pozzuoli and the bay. It is a beautiful view from the front of the hotel, and the garden area is lovely. There is a nice looking pool, but it was blocked off, and does not open until around the middle of July. The access up to the hotel is very, very steep. It is not something that you would want to walk up, or down for that matter. The hotel had little blue van that would drop us down into Pozzuoli, (not sure if that was really what is was meant for, as it was a little scruffy) and then it was a case of trying to find a taxi to get back to the hotel. That was no easy task a lot of the time. The hotel is clean and the staff are helpful. BUT - this hotel really is not geared to tourists to my mind. It is obviously more geared up for business conferences, wedding receptions and parties in general. We stayed for 3 nights, and there was something going on the whole time. The last night we were there, there was a wedding reception, who took over the dining room, so you couldn't get in to have dinner even if you wanted to. We felt quite uncomfortable at times. All in all, it was very disappointing.

We had a suite for 5 people. Plenty of space and large bathroom although the beds were very hard. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast continental style and lots of choice. Very high up and so had amazing views of the area and mount vesuvius from room balcony and other large terraces around the hotel. Next to Solfatara volcano so sulphur smell at times. Free parking and you really need a car to get around. Wifi a little intermittent in the room. Would recommend.

Fantastic location, lovely pool

Fantastic location in a somewhat grotty area of Naples. The dining room and pool areas are 5 star but the rooms do not reflect this, they are very basic. However, we enjoyed our stay here as luckily the pool was available. Apparently if there is a wedding this is not the case. We stayed in August and were surprised to find there was hardly anyone else there; the dining room and bar were empty. A car is recommended as this hotel is up a large hill, too far from anywhere to walk. We would recommend this hotel.

Not a place I would stay again.

This is a hotel that clearly had it's day in the 70's. It doesn't seem to have been modernized since then. It's difficult to find (go left (NOT through the arch) when you get to the arch after turning off the main road). It's up a long steep hill. The view is okay if you get a sea-side view, but not even that spectacular, and the town smelled of sewage so though we had a balcony, we didn't use it. Food was fine, breakfast a typical European one. There was Wi-Fi in the room and it had AC. We stayed there because we wanted to see Pompei, but it was on the other side of Naples. Also there was a ton of construction to get to it, so even with a GPS, we got lost a few times within a couple miles of the hotel.

Used as get-away hotel for flight from Napoli

This is a great venue with attention to service. Although difficult to find (directions are confusing), it really is quite convenient to airport and is away from the city with a spectacular view of the sea. Pool is wonderful. To ensure we found our way to the airport in our rental car, the overnight desk clerk told us to follow him. He took us to the Tangengial then went home. A find for airport departures or for stays in Napoli.

If no car....not so good.

The hotel has a great view as it sits on top of a hill. It has a lovely pool, however...beware. It is almost always closed for private parties. It is pretty far away from \"town\" and you would need to have a rental car or take a semi-expensive taxi ride to the port area where all the restaurants are located. The breakfast was good but not my favorite since there were no eggs available, however, very adequate. The air conditioning worked well in our room, however, the one in our friends room quit in the middle of the night and they moved to another room. The front desk staff were very helpful with this, but it was not a very restful evening for our friends :)

Although a good grade hotel it location is too far from the town, the taxi fares to the town are very expensive between 15 and 20 euros. The hotel nominated taxi was a rip off. The fare was different each time. Considering the hotel has a preferred taxi it does not make any difference to the cost. the taxi driver seemed to just charge as much as possible.
The hotel was focused on weddings and not service to the guests. the hotel swimming pool as not in use due to need to look good for the wedding partys. The resturant was setup for the weeding and not the paying guests. The breakfast selection was very poor as the only thing which seemed to be important was the wedding party. On the whole the hotel should not take booking at the same time as providing weddings. I would not recommend this hotel. I was very dissapointed with the whole experience.

Beautiful Hotel if you are driving only

Beautiful resort type hotel but extremely far from the center of town if you need to reach the ports as i did for Ischia and Procida. Cab bill is quite high. There is a rather long walk down to the main street if you want to take the bus to the Third Largest Colesseum in town. Very nice place to visit. The Sulfar crater is right down the block which was interesting to view from the street.

Hotel in Naples

This hotel was an oasis for us. It was hard finding the hotel because you have to drive all the way to the top of the hill. But once you got there, the view is breathtaking, the outdoor pool is huge and clean. since it sits on a hill, one side of the view is the gulf of naples and the other side is the city. Best of all, the hotel has FREE wireless!!! made our day. Hotel was well kept, clean and they have a huge restaurant for inside as well as outside dining. Very romantic. Also the best mattress compared to all the european beds we slept in. Can't say enough good about it !!! :)

Hotel Gli Dei - August 2010

A stunning hotel with fantastic views, both back and front, with Naples bay to the front and mountains and volcanoes to the rear. Though be aware that these views are available purely because of the hotels location, situated at the top of the Volcano, Solfatara. The road to the hotel is via a VERY steep incline which can take 10-15 mins to walk. For those averse to walking or hiring a car while in Italy your only option are taxis, otherwise this hotel is not for you, which is sad because it is stunning. The staff are very polite, pleasant and welcoming and the food first class. A major attraction of this hotel for us was that even in August it is not teaming with tourists (Pozzouli, while steeped in history is not yet a tourist destination by the Brits) which meant that the fabulous outdoor swimming pool was there for us to enjoy whenever we wished. So if your idea of a great holiday is a quiet break away in a quiet, clean 4* hotel while soaking up the hot summer sunshine, then this is the place. Try not to be put of by the major walk required getting to and from the hotel otherwise you'll be missing out on a fantastic holiday experience.

This is a nice Hotel with a great view, but be aware that it is not very close to the Naples airport and that you will have to either rent a car (which I don't recommend in the Naples area) or pay approx 50 Euro for a cab ride. The hotel sits way up a hill so walking to and from the street is not very practical. The staff was very helpful and once you are there you can take the metro trains back into the central train station for only a couple of Euros. I suppose you could find your way to the Pozzouli area from the airport or train station via metro if you feel comfortable which makes the hotel much more attractive price wise. The hotel staff recommended a restaurant down the hill and about a block away called Viola (I think) that was wonderful! Great food, great view and very economical.

WHAT A GREAT VIEW OF POZZUOLI BAY AND MT VESUVIO

Hotel Gli Dei had a certain atmosphere about it that reminded me of watching some old movies with classic hotels in it. That is what came to mind when I arrived and saw the hotel. It has this classic feel about it.

My room was quite comfortable with only three exceptions. The bed mattress was quite hard making laying down on it a bit uncomfortable after doing so for a period of time.

The second was the tv. it was a small convential CRT tv that the screen size was about 13\". Not a big detriment, but made watching tv a bit of a problem if I was on my bed and trying to catch any detail in the programming.

The last issue, and the heavy curtains blocked that out, was a bright spotlight shined into my window. As I said, pulling the shades across prevented the light from shining into the room, although it did shine into the bathroom, again not much of an issue for me.

Hotel Gli Dei does have it's own restaurant although I feel that the menu was quite limited. I did enjoy the Spaghetti with tomatoes and basil. I also ordered the filet steak and that was very tender and juicy.

The staff was accomodating to all my questions and requests for information. I did enjoy my view from my window as it provided me an unobstructed view of Mt Vesuvio. They also have rooms facing the Bay of Pozzuoli and in the evening that can be very relaxing to sit on the patio outside those rooms and relax as the sun sets over the bay.

Do your research and you'll love it!

The Hotel Gli Dei is situated on the top of a very steep hill, as previous reviews had mentioned, so that wasn't a surprise! The views are indeed amazing - Vesuvius from the back, Ischia and Pozzuoli at the front. Some reviewers had mentioned 'unhelpful' staff, but we found them really friendly, helpful and polite.
Yes, the pool is sometimes closed for functions, BUT this tends to be at around 1pm on certain days, and the hotel have obviously paid attention to previous criticism because they told us up front which days this would apply to - and it was 4 days out of our 10 day stay. On those four days we lounged happily at the pool in the morning, then did trips out in the afternoon, so it was really no big deal. Incidently the pool was bigger than the photos suggest, and there were very few people there apart from us; in fact, on one day, we had the whole area to ourselves!
For the amazing pool and the superb views there was only one disadvantage; the hotel is quite a way from the centre of Pozzuoli (a bustling, busy Italian resort with loads of shops, bars and restaurants). As we didn't hire a car, we did spend a lot on taxis. However, we wouldn't have wanted to drive, as the traffic in town was extremely busy at weekends - so that's up to you. If I went again I would probably hire a car for longer journeys - Naples, Vesuvius etc. We did our trips by train, which was easy and cheap, but return taxis from station were difficult to find, hotel will order them for you though.

Surprisingly Nice

Having read all of the reviews, I was expecting far worse. The hotel was quite nice, but like other reviewers have stated, it would be a stretch to call it a 4 star (see review by EuroWalkers located elsewhere). Nonetheless, it was clean, the A/C worked, our car was secure and the facility was clean. The hotel is located on a steep hill, so hopefully your car can make it…there were times I wasn’t sure our rental would. As others have noted, the included breakfast was very sparse, so I would budget time and money to stop elsewhere for a more filling meal.

Great hotel with lovely views

We chose this hotel for our last nights stay in Italy before leaving from Naples airport the following day. The hotel is located up on a hill overlooking the sea and although not ideal for walking is perfect for those seeking a quiet stay away from the hustle and bustle of Naples. The hotel is very clean, quiet and the service is fantastic. Our room was on the first floor with a beautiful view of the sea. We decided to eat at the hotel restaurant and the food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was a cold buffet. the food plentiful and delicious. Would definately return.

Superb Hotel

We stayed at Gli Dei for 2 nights and wished it had been longer because this was one of the best hotels we stayed at during our 2 week road trip of Italy.

The pool and poolside were very clean and relaxed, with plenty of loungers and great views over the area. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Staff were helpful.

The only (minor) problem was with breakfast - bacon & scrambled eggs were cold and had clearly been left for ages - however there was plenty of good food (croissants, cake, ham, cheese etc) to make up for it.

All in all a great hotel and we would go again.

This hotel was fabulous. The view from both our room and the pool area was absolutely breathtaking. The hotel was extremely clean and well set up, in particular the pool area and seating was luxurious. The staff were the most helpful I have encountered and when our hire car broke down, they spent time arranging for recovery and a new car to come to the hotel (our italian was not so good so this was invaluable). In general I would rush to come back and stay here, lovely hotel all round.

La pecca è che, per come ubicata la mia camera, la sera, durante serata con musica, fino alle 2 di notte impossibile prendere sonno. Ristorante di qualità ma caro, due antipasti di mare, due primi, un calice di vino, una coca piccola e due bottiglie di acqua euro 95. Il posto è incantevole.

Tutto ottimo, le camere, la colazione, la piscina, il personale e la pulizia. Peccato che non è in centro, ma è sicuramente ricompensato dalla vista mozzafiato. Per spostarsi senza utilizzare il proprio mezzo, l’albergo mette a disposizione una navetta. Lo consiglierei sicuramente.

La struttura è semplicemente fantastica, molto bella.

Hôtel très bien tenu, personnel avenant et efficace. Petit déjeuner plus que moyen, l.hôtel est souvent réservé pour des soirées par conséquent la piscine n’est pas toujours disponible et ferme à 19 h ce qui ne laisse peu de temps en fin de journée pour se délasser après la journée de visite. Vue magnifique sur le golf. A 10 minutes de voiture, on peut accéder au centre ville qui offre de nombreux restaurants.

Struttura Bellissima, posto incantevole, gentilezza e cortesia da parte del personale.
Nonostante avessimo prenotato una camera classica ci hanno riservato una camera vista mare.

Personnel d accueil peu accueillant
On nous a demandé d acheter des bonnets de bain pour la piscine alors que la plupart des touristes n en portaient pas
Au moment du Check out, la réceptionniste n avait plus de papier dans son lecteur de carte. Du coup nous avons du leur donner nos numéros de carte bancaire pour qu elle fasse le prélèvement des qu elle pourrait
Pas un désolé pas un sourire ni un au revoir
Pour avoir payé 340 euros les 2 nuits, nous avons eu l impression de ne pas avoir eu un bon service de leur part

solo la vista panoramica ne vale la pena

L'hotel si trova vicino alla Solfatara di Pozzuoli, e non è facile raggiungerci. La camera tripla abbastanza spaziosa si trova in una struttura seperata dalla principale. Il personale non sembra molto accogliente, persino un po' strano. Al posto della colazione a buffet, ce l'hanno portata in camera con poche scelte a causa di un cosidetto \"convegno\", mentre gli altri ospiti non appartenti al \"convegno\" sono andati a consumarla nel ristorante.

Tolles Hotel

Da Hotel liegt auf dem Berg in Pozzuoli direkt an der Solfatara. Die Hotelanlage ist sehr schön und bietet große Zimmer, ein gutes Restaurant und einen Poolbereich. Unser Zimmer war sauber und die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wenn man jedoch etwas unternehmen möchte oder die Strandpromenade besuchen will, braucht man schon einen Mietwagen, da das Hotel auf einem ziemlich steilen Berg außerhalb liegt. Die Umgebung ist ruhig, aber es kann draußen durchaus etwas nach Schwefel riechen, da das Hotel ja direkt an einem Krater der Phlegräischen Felder liegt. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und andere Restaurants gibt es in Pozzuoli genügend, aber wie gesagt, man braucht ein Auto.

Ottimo Hotel!!!

Ottimo Hotel posizionato in alto a Pozzuoli con una vista spettacolare sul golfo.
Camera Familiare molto grande con separè, cortesia ed efficenza personale.
Colazione molto buona, lo consiglio come base per escursioni nell'area e vacanze a Napoli!!

Interessante Lage am Hang über der \"solfatara\" mit herrlichem Meeresblick. Neapel - Zentrum, Airport, Vesuv - über die \"tangenziale\" rasch erreichbar.

Bellissimo Hotel con vista mozzafiato

L'hotel è situato in una posizione incantevole a due passi dalla solfatara di Pozzuoli. La stradina di arrivo non è tra le più comode essendo un pò stretta e ripida, ma dopo aver parcheggiato ed essere scesi dall'auto la vista che appare compensa alla grande l'eventuale disagio di arrivo.
