Amazing find. Set slightly out of town this picturesque haven of a hotel was a beautiful stop off destination to explore Altea. Staff were very friendly and the pool area was beautifully secluded and tranquil. Rooms were spotless, comfortable and really well proportioned. Breakfast was simple yet catered for every taste, can not fault this hotel in any way and cannot wait to come back in the summer.

A wedding anniversary treat

Our first weekend trip away since COVID locked us all down. Altea is just a 40 minute journey from where we live, however the feeling at Hotel Tossal is that we were much further away. A tranquil spot high in the Old Town, this hotel has olde worlde charm at its best. The staff make you feel welcome as if you were a friend, the restaurant serves high class dishes, there was no need for us to find another place to eat. Our room was large with a large terrace also with views to the sea and the mountains. Highly recommended.

Basic, clean and affordable

Rooms are basic, but clean. Ours didn't have much of a view. The tiny balcony opened onto the roof of the outdoor dining area below.

The price was fair for the quality of the room/service.

Quiet reprieve and a great cat.

This hotel is a little off the beaten path and a bit rough around the edges. It was a very nice reprieve from the over stimulation of the beach front properties and surprisingly close to the \"old town\" and all of the truly fantastic restaurants. Fantastic staff and so quiet. The house cat, \"Missy\" was there to welcome us each time we returned during the day.

Our mini break.

Lovely hotel with lovely helpful staff. The restaurant served fabulous good either from the menu or you could have the menu of the day which was 3 course and 20€ a head. Definitely be back.

Enjoyable stay at the Hotel Tossal d'Altea

My wife and I stayed one night while visiting the Altea and Calp area. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. After checking in on the Wednesday afternoon We were able to enjoy a swim in the pool and a couple of hours sunbathing. That evening we dined at the amazing Oustau restaurant in the old town. We checked out of the hotel after breakfast the following morning having thoroughly enjoyed our short visit.

A Welcome change....

We stayed for 2 nights in Sept 15 while we were touring the area from Valencia to Alicante, and enjoyed our stay. WiFi worked well in our spacious room & elsewhere, pool good, breakfast good. Overall, we like the 'Spanish' feel of the hotel, a welcome change from corporate-style hotels. A car is essential, and finding the hotel initially was a little tricky - be sure to approach the long hotel drive from the CV-760.

Beautiful hotel - happy to stay again

A little further out of town than we expected but lovely hotel. The air-con in our room didn't seem to work properly, as it didn't cool sufficiently. Not sure whether it was struggling with the hottest Summer in Spain for some years.
Shame about the derelict building next door but not sure what the hotel can do about it.

Convenient hotel outside of Old Town

Hotel was nice, clean, and confidently located just a short walk to Old Town Altea. However, the room's temperature control did not work - we did not have heat - and there was no Kleenex. Upon checking in, the front desk manager did not take the time to explain the wi-fi access instructions or check-out procedures (ie if you check out before 9am, you have to check out the previous day). We had an early bus to Alicante and went to the front desk at 6am to call a taxi and check out. The security guard at the desk didn't know how to help us, and had to call the front desk manager from wherever he was located to help us which took extra time.

Classy hotel, walkable to Altea old town

A lovely hotel with classic interior and good furnishings, set in a quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance of the old section of Altea. Agree in that regard with all previous comments. The room was spacious and the beds were two singles placed side-by-side. We prefer one large bed, but we were fine with the arrangement. Nice bathroom with fairly large bath to soak in. We had a car, and since it was a bit chilly in the evening and we could see from previous reviews that the walk from the hotel can be dark, we drove the 1 km or so to the start of the old town area and walked the rest. What a magical section that part of Altea is, with the labyrinth of narrow, cobble-stoned streets, dotted with small shops and eateries. .

Service and hospitality at the hotel was pleasant and welcoming. The outside areas looked very nice, but it's December and our time at the hotel was in the evening and early morning when it was a bit too chilly to enjoy.

The only reason we rate the hotel a \"4\" rather than a \"5\" is that we experienced quite a few small ants in our room as well as in the breakfast room the following morning. Simple enough to brush these aside, but they were a bit annoying. Hopefully it's something that can be remedied by the management. The breakfast buffet offering was modest, but had everything we would want.

Good location, good hotel

Nice hotel in good condition and very clean. The area (ALtea town, Mascarat, etc) is really beautiful and the hotel is located in an area that is a good base to explore. You probably need a car or be willing to walk relatively long distances to get to the old town.

not good value for the price.

Spacious room but the bedroom looks tired , shower cubicle with black mould round the perimeter, drains not flowing properly , lack of hot water in the evening .
This hotel is not a 4 stars hotel, looks tired and the price is too high for what you get .
positive point 10mn walk from the old town , but road not lit at night .

Lovely hotel just outside the old town but within easy walking distance of all the bars, shops and restaurants. Friendly welcome upon arrival, room spacious and well presented. Large bathroom. We ate breakfast outside overlooking the garden and pool, basic continental but you won't go hungry. Very quiet even though it was the main holiday season. Will definitely return.

hotel well away from town up a very poor lane with no outside lights. pleasing from the outside with good terrace and pool. pool bar completely closed down.
room very small with no balcony or view when we asked to be moved was abruptly told non rooms available yet hotel was deserted from humans.
breakfast was terrible. self service buffet with no hot food. you even had to set your own table.
will not be back. complete waste of euros.

Wish I could have stayed longer

We used this hotel as a stopover returning from Andalucia. For us, the waterfront, and its many diniing options were a comfortable walk away. The room was spacious, impeccably kept, and entirely satisfactory--good value for money. As others note, the team of hosts is charming and very helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and we felt well cared-for.

Character Hotel in a lovely setting

Had a little trouble finding the hotel but well worth it when we did. The building was originally an old olive mill and the hotel has been created using original features. The dining room is delightful and the food fabulous. Our waitress - Vincente - was very attentive but not intrusive and although did not speak English, we still managed to communicate quite well. The choice at breakfast was wonderful with an abundance of fresh fruit, breads, cereals as well as the usual cold meats, cheese etc. Our bedroom was very spacious as was the bathroom and we looked out onto the sun rising on the mountains. The old town was a mere 7/8 minute walk from the hotel. Unfortunately we only stayed for 1 night but will certainly return.

Quality hotel for a quiet relaxed stay

Beautiful relaxed hotel with an excellent restaurant and very welcoming and attentive staff. Set back from the main town of Altea so print- off a map and directions before arriving or you might struggle to find it. My wife and I enjoyed two nights in July 2012 and found the local area to be full of amenities and places to explore. The pool is lovely and there was complete peace and quiet with just a few couples there for a quiet stay.We would certainly go back there in the future.

The hotel Tossal d'Altea is in a lovely quiet spot overlooking the old town of Altea . Room was lovely but lacked a comfortable chair breakfast was fine but selection of fresh fruit and cereals was poor but breakfast area overlooking the pool was lovely. Hotel offers a lunch and dinner menu including water and a glass of wine or beer and this was excellent value and the food was of a very high standard. Pool area was lovely . Would recommend this hotel

Lastima que los alrededores están de obras,aunque la ubicación era buena para poder ir paseando todos los días a la parte vieja de Altea. La piscina tranquila y limpia, ideal para descansar después de la playa.

Hotellet virket forlatt nå sent på sesongen. Og det lå i skyggesiden så lite sol sent på året. I tillegg var veien en måtte gå fra hotell til gamleby helt uten lys og med flere bjeffende hunder- veldig utrivelig. Pene rom og hyggelig personale. Men ble allikevel et skuffende opphold. Pga god service fikk vi avbestilt resten av uken og flyttet til et bedre sted

Underbart hotel med så mycket historie och tyckte väldigt mycket om den rustika inredning överallt.
Fantastisk stort rum, men tyvärr var det hotel rum vi hade beställt utan en riktig balkong, vilket jag trodde, eftersom alla bildar på internet viser rum med balkong där man kan sitte ute.
Jätte god mat och fin service.
Ville önska att tv,en var större (mycket lite tv i det stora rum) och att det fanns internationella kanaler med engelska sproget. Det kan man väl förvänta sig av ett fyrstjärnigt hotell? Det fanns bara Spanska kanaler.
Vägen upp til hotellet från stora vägen var lite krånglig och ujämn. Smal, gjort i beton och inte asfalt, men fin parkering vid hotellet.

Das Hotel ist sehr ruhig gelegen. Es gab ein ausgezeichnetes Frühstück. Wir hatten ein großes Zimmer. Die Einrichtung des Hotels im Kokonialstil fanden wir sehr ansprechend. Die Hotelanlage mit Pool war gepflegt. Für die heiße Jahreszeit ist Hotel und Anlage besonders zu empfehlen. Viele schattige Plätze im Aussenbereich vorhanden.
