very clean hotel. We were half board and found the plenty of choice and really good dining room staff. Lovely pool area BUT pool did not open until 10 am whick is a very bad point in our view. This needs to be addressed as there was a lot of people complaing about this.

Long weekend in Albir

Great hotel, staff excellent. Rooms spacious and clean and you get amazing views of the mountains. Breakfast is not to be missed. Abundance of fresh fruits, pastries, cheeses and hot food, plus Cava and freshly squeezed orange juice.

I had a lovely view from my bedroom and the breakfast was very good. Sometimes it was a little noisy in the road with motorcycles but that’s not really the hotels fault.

Nice stay in comfortable hotel.

Stayed here before the hotel is comfortable. We were half board and the food was good, nice selection and chef made our 1 year old a special pear dish as a surprise.
Great location, plenty of on street parking this time of year and 10 minute walk max to the beach.

We have stayed at the Albir Playa on and off since it first opened. It's a great hotel but we thought it was looking a bit tired. The corridors are scuffed where the house keeping trollies bang into them repeatedly and could do with a lick of paint, the bathrooms are clean but need regrouting and touching up. It's a lovely hotel, don't get me wrong, but it needs a lift.

Staff were not friwndly at all, very busoness looking to people! When you were eating they were coming if you are finished and they can take out the dishes. Food was very average. Compared to price and other all inclusive hotels not really worth the price. Food was mainly shop made food like schnitzels, calamaries, pasta,... Was more or less the same meny everyday. Once they brought pne dish of shrimps and when was finished, I came up asking if they refill it, answer was no. Coffee was smply nescafe... No tea so we bought tea from lidle and borrowed kettle. Only thing was perfect was the water you buy at lunch and dinner. It was the best I had in my life as a person coming from Norway. It was written not to take fruits and food feom the restaurant. You feel that they have an eye on your table how much you eat. And above all inot really recommanded for young families and young people.

Just about perfect!

Just about everything was excellent. This is my 5th stay in this hotel and it is of course for a reason. The only things "negative" are: I would have liked better view and maybe more TV-Channels to choose from ... and I would have liked the garden party on wednesday night to finish 11 o'clock the latest!

We stay regularly at this hotel and I don’t think you could find a nicer one in the area. The staff are great and speak fantastic English.
We were a bit disappointed that the spa was closed for refurb when we got there, but they’d arranged a really cheap (€5) alternative nearby.
Couldn’t recommend this hotel enough.

This hotel has everything you need for a brilliant, relaxing holiday. Close to the beach, really nice pool, yummy breakfast with loads of choice. Lidl next door for cheap water and snacks. Nice bars and cafes near by. My only negatives were the staff were a bit rude sometimes. Had a waiter tell me off for taking some fruit away after breakfast (felt like a school kid again), the reception staff were a bit useless in knowing how to get to the airport without using one of their expensive shuttle buses, the music around the pool is lovely but wish they'd change the CD more often as it was on repeat for a good couple of days. The spa was being renovated so I didn't get chance to experience it. The gym is open from 10am-8pm. This meant I couldn't work out before breakfast.

HOWEVER. Our overall experience was amazing and it's definitely a great place to stay in Albir. Really well priced too.

We had room 330 which had a large balcony overlooking the pool. Very quite, didn't hear any noise. Small fridge and safe (nor sure of charge as didn't use) smallish bathroom which could do with a revamp but clean and decent shower. Pool area clean, bar prices are reasonable, think it was 5.70 euros for 2 pints. Breakfast ok, decent coffee, cooked and continental items, would have liked a variety of fruit but still ok. Lidl next door for any extras. About 5 mins to bus stop, bus 30 mins to Benidorm, 15 to altea, last bus back 10.30 but only 13 euros in cab. 15 min walk to beach/ promenade. Indian next to hotel was good, plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. hotel was quiet, no problem getting sun bed, pool bar was closed but can get beers from hotel. All in all would rec, particularly out of season.

A great hotel in a great location

Came here 5 years ago & loved it then, so a safe bet for us to book again. Nothing much has changed, in that they serve a good selection of dishes at breakfast, that the staff are helpful & that all areas of the hotel that we used, including our room, are kept clean. Lots of places within 5 minutes walk to eat & drink, with the seafront & beach only being a 10-15 minute walk away. Can't fault it, though I dare say some will always find something to moan about!

Great little hotel near local amenities

Hotel within walking distance of beach, bars and restaurants. Hotel also provides a shuttle bus to the beach if you don't fancy the 10 minute walk in the heat!! They will also pick you up. Good transport links to both Altea and Benidorm. Entertainment provided in hotel during day and evening for both adults and children. Pool area can get busy but we never had problems getting a sunbed. Hotel does not open up the pool area until 10am so this stops the reserving of sunbeds but can be frustrating if you are up early.
Only had breakfast included which was ok - plenty of choice. There are some great restaurants in this area which are really reasonable. Lidl next door to hotel which is a bonus as you can buy water etc really cheaply under 2 Euros for 6 big bottles of water - 2 euros a bottle in hotel!!! Staff all really friendly and helpful. Room cleaned everyday. Really lovely hotel and resort.

I enjoyed my experience at this hotel. Friendly bar and housekeeping staff. Pool and spa fantastic! Lidl next door just in case you are like me and need more than 100ml of grooming products. Try Kathmandu Indian restaurant across the road, lovely.

Disappointing

Good location, but terrible beds, the room was dirty and never cleaned properly, and the food was awful.

We booked half-board, thinking that it would make the holiday more pleasant, but found the choice of food was nothing but poor quality fried food and 'mystery' fish in unknown sauces! As non-meat-eaters, our choices were to either eat chips every night, or to make ourselves cheese rolls.

The public spaces in the hotel, such as the bar area, spa and pool were all of a good standard, and it's only these things which make it a 4 star hotel. The beds were so uncomfortable we spent the entire holiday with back pain and headaches. The bedding was cheap and poor quality, and hadn't been changed after 5 days.
The cleaning staff did a quick sweep through the rooms, but sinks and toilets weren't cleaned properly (no toilet brushes provided, so unable to clean ourselves).

Nice Hotel but not really in Alicante

The hotel was nice and the staff were excellent, sadly the pool was always really cold even though it was 30 degrees outside, they have a small play area for kids hidden at the back which we only found near the end of the stay which was a shame because our kid kid loved it, whilst the location is Alicante It is a really a small village called Albir which actually was a really nice place, loads of restaurants nearby and the sea is about 10 to 15 minutes walk the only shame is the distance from the airport it actually took us 2 hours from the airport which was tiresome after a long flight with a 18 month old baby it can potentially be done in an hour and a half without stops on route.
We found the bed uncomfortable and the duvet was an old fashioned cover which wasn't comfy at all which was a great shame it really wasn't what I would expect from a 4 star hotel.
The food was really good too, great selection everyday and although we don't usually like buffet food for various obvious reasons we found the food to be hot and changed frequently to ensure it is fresh.

The kind of people that stay there were more the older generation and a lot of Germans.

Whilst we are in our late 20s with a kid we still had a great time and it was nice not to have rowdy party animals ruining our relaxed stay

Overall i would go back there but I may bring my own sleeping bag lol

Great staff and good hotel

Hotel is at the beginning of Albir so a 10 minute walk to the beach. Shortcut this by walking along the avenue just outside the hotel.
Only two negatives for me: -
1. Pool bar was only open Saturday and Sundays - very poor as the pool was busy and it was a pain having to dry off to go inside to the main bar to buy water and drinks.
2. If there is a function you do not want a room overlooking the pool. The loud parties were still going on at 4am!

A pleasant surprise.

We are staying at the Playa Albir to attend health appointments nearby. It was able to accommodate gluten free. The breakfast was very good. The staff were helpful and friendly. It offered good value for money. The beds are on the hard side.

The best thing about this hotel was the spa.the circuit was fabulous.the hotel was very clean and the staff very helpful and nice.the downside after one night on the almost concrete like mattress and I could hardly move.they did put a topper on for me and it was a little better.but 4 days in that bed was too much.I am still suffering 2 weeks later
Also we only ate at the hotel once at night as the food was poor. However breakfast was great.

Lovely Hotel with lots going on

This is a very smart well maintained hotel in up market L'Albir, excellent staff great choice of amenities and close to local bars and restaurants. The beach front of Albir is some distance but throughout the summer the hotel lays on a courtesy bus for the kilometre long journey. I like this hotel a lot and have returned on quite a few occasions but I do have one ongoing gripe - the generous double bed is like sleeping on a butchers block, I have honestly been woken up by a sore hip it is that solid and the pillows that go with it are biscuit thin and frustratingly uncomfortable. That is really strange as this is an excellent quality hugely enjoyable hotel in every other respect and as someone who travelled extensively as part of their work I have slept in some uncomfortable places but I'm still feeling the effect four days after returning home!

My tip - check the bed after checking in and straight back to reception if you agree with me. Everything else you will enjoy.

Nice modern hotel, pity about the food

My husband came home with terrible food poisoning which we believe came from the food served in the hotel restaurant. The hot food was stone cold at breakfast and at the 3 times we stayed for dinner. [We decided to eat out because of the cold unappetising food] I complained to the waiting staff about this and explained my concern about the potential for bacteria to develop but they did not seem to understand. One of them brought me a plate of chips that had been warmed in the microwave in response!

I ended up speaking to the staff on reception and asked to see the manager, he was out at the time and I asked him to get in touch with me when he was back at work but this was ignored and I heard nothing.

We think the poisoning came from the breakfast as my husband had cooked food every morning I had the cereal..

On the 5th day of a 7 day holiday my husband became very ill with stomach cramps, fever and diarrhoea. He had to undertake a nightmare journey home. He has lost half a stone in weight and only just recovered.

After I had booked this holiday I noted someone had complained about the same cold food on Trip Advisor. The manager had responded by saying the comments had been taken on board but I am afraid this was not the case on our visit. A nice hotel completely spoiled by the awful toxic food safety practices.

Rooms were dusty in certain areas beds were so hard its like sleeping on the floor. back ache every morning. Food was nice but could have done with more choices. swimming pool was nice but beware of swimming pool edges rough and easy to cut yourself. overall not a bad place to stay.

Great hotel great staff

We stayed in march for 5days, couldn't fault the staff at all they were brilliant. The hotel and the rooms wer spotless. My only complaints are that none of the food was very warm. They did how ever have a large variety of food available so would suit everyone.and had to constantly keep going down stairs to get wifi codes for each device we used the internet on.
Whilst we wer there the pool was having some rapairs done so couldn't use it. That wansnt a problem as the weather was rather chilly, I recommend to take jumpers coats if you were to travel this early on. Not a lot really to do around the hotel as it was so early on in the year very relaxing place wouldnt recommend to take children as it's more of an adults only kind of place. I had a great time and I would go back again just when the weather was a lot warmer:-)
p.s the rooms overlooking the pool don't get much sunshine so have the views looking towards the mountains you can see the road but you can't hear any traffic during the day or night in your room.

The hotel facilities were great - the swimming pool was lovely, and the activities were very good. However, our stay was somewhat let down by the staff who were sometimes (although not always) unfriendly, and the fact that the beds were extremely uncomfortable.

Nice stay, clean hotel.

Had a really nice stay in the hotel, it was clean and the hotel room was comfortable to stay in.
Reception staff were helpful, but need to watch the bar staff as I had a long wait for my change after buying a couple of beers.
Only had breakfast in the hotel but there was a good choice and the chocolate donuts went down well with the younger members of the party.
Swimming pool was a little on the small side which wasn't a problem while I was there but during the summer holidays could be a problem, but the beach was only 15 mins walk away, top tip for the beach is to take some swimming shoes as the beach is a pebble one and its a really sore on your feet walking to and from the sea in bare feet.
Only down side was that there are a lot of late night functions by the pool which go on quite late, on member of my party had a room with a view of the pool and couldn't sleep on the first night because of the noise and had to move rooms.

Family friendly hotel

A lovely stay at the hotel and although i didnt use the spa facilities it was a nice luxury.

The childrens entertainment was varied and was both indoor amd out with use of the pool also, so children would be occupied during their holiday.

Area wasnt too busy or noisy amd is away from the hustle and bustle of Benidorm's party goers and hens/stags!

Would have been nice to have a kettle and provision of milk/coffee/tea bags in the room.

Meals were generally appetising but choice of vegetarian 'main' dishes was limited, forcing the choice of pasta as a 'hot' option each evening.
Although the choice of vegetables and salads was varied.
Plenty of meat options available including various seafood dishes too.

Wifi connection wasn't brilliant - on several occasions throughout the week the Internet was "playing up" and wifi connection in the hotel room barely existed, limiting connection to the lobby and bar/entertainment area - therefore if you are staying here for business reasons and are reliant on Internet then you may be better off going to an Internet cafe.

Bring a spare towel to reserve a sun lounger.

Nice hotel, great pool activities for kids (we have none but nice to see them enjoying themselves). Internet is poor, breakfast buffet was plentiful.
Be prepared for a fight for a lounger EVERY morning. All Europeans come down and place their towels and some of them don't even claim until mid afternoon so the 'no reservation' policy isn't upheld, albeit there.

Nice hotel and compared to many in Spain was excellent, although probably the lower end of 4* or upper 3* by UK standards. Staff were all friendly, we were there with my 2 year old and all staff we came into contact with took time & spoke to him which I thought was excellent.

Great hotel

I stayed in the Albir Playa hotel for 3 nights and don't have a bad word to say about it. Room was of a good size, restaurant, food and bars were of good quality.

A very average spanish costa type experience

ok just about sums it up,NOT,a 4star hotel by any standards, it took 40 minutes to get into our room, problems with the locks! sherbert sugary tasting orange juice for breakfast,and lousy coffee,how the coffeee could have been so bad is a mystery to us in spain,went over to the local cafe most days.unable to make up our bill when we were leaving even though we had prepaid.
there was nightly entertainment in the bar if you can call it that,it was more like a european butlins bit downmarket catering for cheap packages really.

Terrible service off-season. WiFi didn't work and the staff simply stated that it did and they wouldn't consider fixing it anyway! Restaurant awful

thought it was ok!

We had a very brief stay. Staff quite friendly and spoke good english. Was a bit disapointed that there were no tea or coffee facilities in room and not a good selection soap also there were toothbrushes which was a nice touch but no paste.

Very nice but the mattress was far to hard ,used the extra mattress from the sofa bed.Limited menu and look warm food.You advertise a indoor pool which was the reason for booking this hotel but it does not have a indoor pool.

Good Stay

Stayed there 20 Dec - 29 Dec 2012 quiet at start then got busy over Xmas. Staff coped with everything. Had breakfast included but only problem was cold plates - food was always cold by the time you sat down with it !
I prefer to eat out and loads of nice restaurants locally - beach front bit quiet this time of year - but we had hot sunny days for 7 out of 9 ! Even got a tan !
Would definitely stay there again ! Maybe next year !
