The room was a good size, the bed (mattress, bedding) and pillow were excellent - I dare say even better than at home!
Generally clean, but we found some chocolate wrappers under our bed. Some of the linen is showing obvious wear and tear, and so are some of the curtains.
But generally very comfortable room.
Good selection for breakfast (including premium options) but standard 'hot' items were no more than lukewarm - would highly recommend a better way of keeping pre-cooked items hot.
Leisure facilities fine, but unfortunately the hot tub was not at the right temperature during our two night stay. Leisure facility staff told us the hot tub had not been functioning properly for a number of days and that they too were frustrated with it (and in the process mentioned that other parts of the hotel had been upgraded while some of the leisure facilities were in need of it too). On our second day I asked reception staff if they could check with the leisure staff if hot tub was functioning properly again, and lady at the desk said she would call our room with an update. After waiting for an hour for her call she had not yet (don't make any promises you can't keep), so I went up to reception again and spoke to a manager. The very friendly manager appeared not to know about the ongoing issues with the hot tub (bad internal communication) and offered us some compensation for the inconvenience (discount on our dinner at the hotel restaurant).

All in all this has been a good experience. Primarily we wanted to take the Grandchildren away for a night to somewhere with a pool and this didn’t disappoint. We also stayed in the hotel for dinner and the 4 year olds dinner was free and the meal was very nice. Portions were generous and in particular the kids meals were even a bit much for them even though they are very good eaters. At the time of writing the kids are fancying another session in the pool then a late breakfast. Yes a very enjoyable stay at the Westerwood.

Checked out today and I’m very disappointed with everything. The place. The receptionists.

They put us literally beside the Scotland U17 kids AND their equipment room. The corridor smelled like garbage and there was non stop noise by those kids. That should not be the floor you put regular guests on.

I booked a room for 4 that said king and a queen. We were given one queen bed and a sofa bed. That’s not what was advertised.

Reception wasn’t welcoming, quite cold actually and we had to wait for 10 minutes just to pay the deposit because “the system was down”.

Room itself was old and tired. Only soap and towels, no proper amenities. Found hair in different spots which is just not okay.

Overall, not what I paid for. If you have a whole youth team on one floor, don’t put families right next to them and don’t change the bed setup from what was booked.

we couldn’t get meals unless we had reservations, then they would send us to the bar for a coffee or food, which wasn’t open sometimes and then took a long time because they had to get the food from another area seemed not that great for such a high quality place, the staff was great but again for such a high class place. I felt like it lacked a little. The gym was great. Your food was good. And of course, the staff was good.

The hotel was clean and rooms good size.
Unfortunately the service in the restaurant and bar was very slow. On our first night in the restaurant all of our meals were lukewarm which we did inform a member of staff but were told they would pass it on to the chef. The 2nd night we ate in the bar area which the food was much better.
Housekeeping in the room wasn’t great, the beds looked like the duvet had just been thrown on and not made properly and we had towels missing.

The hotel was convenient for what we needed but probably wouldn’t stay again.

Not bad, golf was the highlight

Hotel was ok, enjoyed the golf course (by no means a tier 1 property but the course was playable and nice enough). Golf shop staff were awesome. they allowed us to go out and play a few holes in bad weather at a discounted rate which was very nice of them. The restaurant was decent, but service could have been faster, and some staff seemed quite unfriendly. Rooms were large and comfortable but showers and sinks had poor drainage. Overall, not bad if you are in the area.

Was not sure when choosing this hotel, in Cumbernauld, but worked out great to be away from the busy hub-bub of a city like Glasgow, so the quiet location was right. Nice leisure factifies like an adjacent golf course, sauna, pool, good changing room, lockers. Drinking fountain by pool was off-on! Plenty of parking.

Average hotel bedroom, just compatible with a 3 to 4 stars hotel. My room was not cleaned after the first night even we placed a tag on the door. After talking to the hotel desk, they said only next day cleaning.

The hotel is far from town / restaurants and their own restaurant, while reasonable good, does not serve food after 9pm even during peak summer holidays season. Breakfast is good and swimming pool facilities very good. Kids can stay on the swimming pool until 7pm. I wish the swimming pool could be extended until 8-9pm during peak summer.

Very underwhelming

We came for an overnight birthday treat. My partner mentioned this at reception and wasn't even wished a happy birthday. We walked, which seemed like forever to our room. The lifts were fine but didn't take any pressure off the room distance. We went into the room which was fine but it was an extremely hot day and the room was roasting. There is no aircon in the rooms and no fans provided. The rooms at premier inns are always ready to meet the comfort of their guests depending on the weather outside. There are no plugs at either side of the bed. I called reception and asked if there were any more plugs and he was so obtuse and rude and after huffing he sent up an extension cable. This still didn'thr no plugs by the bed. We went for dinner. There wasn't much choice and we both had different dishes. We both found it very bland and expensive for what it was. I don't think we will return here, didn't feel like a 4-star hotel treat for my birthday.

Not as good as we had hoped

We stayed for one night with our 18 month old. There were only 2 pillows on the bed (couldn’t find any more in the wardrobe) and the travel cot was not the standard size (60x120) you’d normally get in hotel rooms, so the mattress we brought (because sometimes hotels do not provide a proper mattress for travel cots and it is therefore quite a hard surface) wouldn’t fit. Our daughter wouldn’t sleep in the cot.

We couldn’t find a thermostat or similar that could change the temperature in the room, as it was very warm too. There were also no plugs by the bed, which nowadays is very standard. The room was, however nice and clean.

I stayed in this hotel 13 years ago for a family wedding and feel it is not as good as it was then - perhaps there have been no improvements since then either. The reception areas are lovely, just a shame a few changes in the rooms would make much more of a difference. We didn’t get a chance to make use of the leisure facilities. The food was average, not reflective of the price.

Sadly, we won’t be back as the hotel isn’t as “premium” as it used to be, or what we thought it would be.

Two night stay with dinner on the second night & breakfast. The selection for breakfast was terrific couldnt fault the choice.Loved the fact that the bread for toast white & brown was lovely bloomer bread.Had a two course meal in restaurant & my wife had three courses again first class.Spent some time in the pool , steam room & sauna great for relaxation. To top it all the staff & service was warm & freindly.Cant wait to go back.

We booked a suite for our family of 2 adults and 3 children. As we had seen on the Westerwood’s website that some suites have a balcony (the picture features the door to the balcony fully open for reference). We proceeded to request a room with a balcony as this was my 40th birthday, and we were granted this before arrival. I also noticed that the suite had a complimentary robes for our use. We were planning to use the swimming pool from arrival as our 5 month old baby would need to have her usual routine from dinner time onwards.

Jackpot!!

Fast forward to checking in at just after 3pm on the day of arrival- which was very prompt and we had a lovely member of staff inform us that we were given room 311.

I was ecstatic to find out on arrival to our room that we indeed had the full balcony with gorgeous views over to the golf course.

Nice hotel with good facilities. Room was very comfortable especially the bed. The overnight stay was spoiled by the dinner service. We sat at our table for over 20 minutes until I was required to stop a passing waitress and ask if it was possible to order our meal. A long wait for our starter then followed. Once again we had an unacceptable wait for our main course. We then asked for the cheese and biscuit selection only to be informed that they had ran out of some of the cheeses!! The hot choice for breakfast could only be described as luke-warm.
The hotel really needs to review its policies on service and staff training as both meal times were far from enjoyable.

Lovely and cozy place. Room was comfy and the food was very tasty. Breakfast was served until 9.45 which is great and it had lots of options including the traditional British buffet.

My only negative for this stay are the pillows are the usual hotel pillows that have no firmness. They did provide extra in the room but even with 4 stacked up they sink into nothing and feel like they're not there at all.

Once good, now just really expensive.

We have been coming to the hotel for several years and it was amazing to start with but now it seems that everything is a lot more expensive for a lot less provided. The rooms are getting tired, the bathroom was dirty.
The food is really expensive in the restaurant now so we ended up eating out.
I think this might be the last time we stay at this hotel.

When we arrived we had booked a twin room the room that they gave us was a smaller room with twin single beds pushed together as a double, so we complained. We were then shown another room which was slightly bigger but the two beds were still pushed together - we asked for the room to be made into a twin. The girl on reception did not seem to grasp what a twin room was..
The meal was luke warm, so they took it back and reheated it, we were not given a new one.
