We had high hopes for this hotel in Aomori. The staff were great as was the positioning of it to the major sites, transport & great food options. However, as seasoned travellers with many years of hotel experiences we finished our 2-night stay under-whelmed. The room on the 6th floor was not what we would call cosy: more like small, with a bathroom that resembled a cruise ship that we once went on. On morning one we tried the free breakfast, which could best be described as a Japanese take on a western breakfast buffet: it was tasteless for the most part and did not remotely resemble any of the fantastic food that we so enjoyed in Aomori & surrounds. On morning two, we just didn’t bother with breakfast but instead munched on some juicy Aomori apples we bought from a local farm! Would we stay at this hotel again: No. All our hotels on this current northern Japan holiday have individually been different but terrific however, this one can not be ranked with those. Is it good value for $$$: we would suggest not: for less money we have stayed in Narita hotels, as an example, that left us saying WOW in comparison. Our experience would rate this hotel as maybe a 2.5/5, mainly for its superb location and the friendly staff. It is rarety on our travels to rate a hotel so low, however as an over 65, fit married couple, we believe honest reviews are an essential reference point. We hope this review is useful to you. Tho location was excellent, so close to station and sights. The staff were so welcoming and helpful.
My only minor complaint was the breakfast area was very crowded and confusing with guests coming from every direction, possibly some signs to help direct guests where to start and direction to go. Not really hotel’s fault that it was crowded. Next time I would wait and eat later because it seemed less crowded later in the morning.

Hotel is located in a good spot close to station and away from busy main streets. It was clean and quiet with a friendly staff. My only issue was the bed is extremely uncomfortable. There was little cushioning to the point laying on my side my ribs starting hurting resulting in a lot of tossing and turning.

Simple room with convenience.

Very simple room with a view of a small section of the city, which is larger than other business hotel in Tokyo. Very close to the train station and main street, less than 2 minutes walk. Staff are very accommodating and communicate via translation apps. Overall good experience with the chain.

Good business hotel with average breakfast.

The location was great if your arriving by train as the station is just 100m away, however I arrived by ferry so had to take a short taxi ride for ¥1700. My room had a partial view of the bridge and the port was towards the left of the bridge. There was sufficient room to move around and store your bags with a desk across one wall with a phone, writing pad, a chair and a mini fridge under it. There was no wardrobe but a hanger stand with some hooks and hangers. Bed was large and quite comfortable, the bathroom was average sized with a shower over the small bath tub. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment as it was in the foyer just across from reception, a bit strange as there were people checking out on one side and people dining next to them. It was a small area as well with common shared tables. The buffet didnt have a good selection of items either with no cereal, fruit or yoghurt.

I liked that the hotel was close to the JR train station. There were eating options nearby, but there seemed to be very few actual grocery stores, just convenience stores. The area also seemed to be somewhat run down. But again, the hotel itself was good, and the breakfast was good.

The Stay
Toyoko Inn Aomori Ekimae is located close by Aomori Station (you can see it from outside the station). It is a very close walk from the station. Compared to most of the other similar hotel I stayed at in this price range, I prefer this one the most. Most likely due to the better lighting. Most rooms in the hotel (especially ones in upper floor) have nice natural lighting. This provide a more enjoyable experience. The particular room they provide me also had a nice view of the bridge, which is a plus. The room itself is nice and clean. It came with most of the essential amenities, but don't expect fanciness. They also provide free breakfast if you desire. All in all, it was a good experience.

The Miscellaneous
The hotel is located in a good location with various shops nearby. There is a Lovina shopping mall and the Nebuta Museum in close proximity. There are various restaurants and convenient stores. But if you are looking for something more touristy, you might have to go out of the way a bit. They have automatic check in via kiosks. But in case they do not work, the staffs are very sincere and helpful in resolving the issue.

We had an amazing one night stay here! The room is clean and spacious for a family of 3. Love the tactfulness of the staff and their services provided! I’m surprised they even allow us to pack our breakfast up to our room to consume it (maybe to reduce crowd). Overall, it was a wonderful experience and looking forward to come back here again!

The hotel is very close to the Aomori train station (east entry/exit). The staff is friendly. They have amenities available on the ground floor (bathrobe (yukata), soap, razor, etc.). The room bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, and liquid soap. The breakfast had a variety of food and you could take it go if needed. Just know the bed mattress is firm.

A well thought out hotel. The rooms are not large but laid out well with storage under the bed a large window and a large bathtub I could actually use. As with the one in Akita that we also stayed it is a no frills type of place, close to the JR station but had anything we wanted, even a nice sewing kit on loan, washer and dryer. I would really like to visit this hotel chain in the future but don't like the late check in and early check out 1600/1000. Then they want you out of the room for cleaning between 1000 and 1600 hours. We came back about 1 pm to put something in the room and was told no cleaning now, but they did allow me to go up.The next day 10 am sharp the phone rings need to clean room. I understand the need to access the room for cleaning but am I renting the room for only 12 hours out of a 24 hour day?

Smoking rooms for non-smokers = unpleasant stay

We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights and were assigned smoking rooms when i was sure i booked non-smoking. We don’t smoke so no reason why i would have booked smoking rooms. In any case the hotel was full and the staff was not able to change our rooms.

Otherwise, as a business hotel, it was efficient enough. Great location too whixh is great on such cold and snowy days.

The hotel was relatively new.I stayed for 1 night in a single queen no smoking room and it was very clean. Staff was very friendly. Although, english is not their strong suit they were able to get their point across and had instructions on a piece of paper for english speakers which was very helpful. The hotel was very convenient as it was just about a min or 2 from Aomori station and even closer to the Nebuta Museum and A-Store which I only had time to visit in Aomori. They also had breakfast from 6:30am to 9am as well which is convenient. Overall, a very good stay and highly recommend.

Overall I was very happy with this hotel, with my only complaint being that it lacked the amenities that most hotels in Japan provide (e.g., free toiletry packets, bathroom amenities, pajamas). The bed was firm but in a comfortable way, and the room was quite clean. The free breakfast was reasonable, and the location was excellent. (The hotel is just across the street from Aomori station.) For the very low nightly price, I was pleased with this hotel. There were only two laundry machines in the lobby so I had to wait until the morning for one to be free, but the fact that there were laundry machines at all was great. This hotel would not be satisfying to someone looking for luxury, but if you're a budget traveler and you want a clean hotel that is very close to the train station, this place is perfect. (The free breakfast adds to the value, too.)

The location is perfect, very close to the train and bus station. The room is slightly big than other Toyoko. The service and clean lever keep good. But one thing: the breakfast is not as good as other Toyoko inns, less food items, and long queue in the morning, as most people are for the morning first bus to Oirase Gorge.

Chambre propre et calme, hôtel à proximité de la gare d’Aomori. Le personnel nous a beaucoup aidé à envoyer nos valises merci à eux, le petit déjeuner fait l’affaire même s’il n’y a pas un choix énorme. Il n’y a que deux machines à laver et deux sèches linges, nous avons dû attendre un peu mais nous avons pu les lancer tard le soir.

星5にしたかったのですが、6時45分頃に朝食会場に行ったのですが混雑していて(ほとんどがインバウンドの方)、バイキングを取り終わり空いている席に子どもを座らせたところ、カタコトの日本語で席取っていたのに！と怒られました。何も置いてもいないしバイキング取り終わってないのに言われ、時間制にしてみたら少しは改善するのではないかと思います。
お部屋は綺麗ですし、フロントスタッフの方は親切です！朝食会場のスタッフさんもテキパキしていて挨拶も気持ちがよく、とても親切でした！
駅前でアクセスしやすいですし、また泊まりたいです！！！

駅前で徒歩で観光や買い物、飲食もできました。部屋も清潔で過ごしやすかったですが、廊下の音がうるさく、上や隣の部屋の物が当たる音や、落とす音は結構響きました。
