A nice hotel on a busy road

It’s a nice, if slightly dated hotel, centrally located but on a busy stretch of road so not quite the picturesque Athenian resort, however it is more than fine for business travel, just be aware there are no irons in the rooms.

Nice family stay

Nice family stay at Zafolia Hotel. The family room we stayed in was essentially 2 connected rooms so we had lots of space, 2 bathrooms and a balcony - which was great. The pool on the rooftop was also lovely (albeit the water was a bit cold.) The staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel is a bit dated though and the location is about 35-40 minute walk from the city center so we ended up taking lots of taxi rides (about 5-7 EUR to get to or back from the city center)

Lovely hotel lobby. Busy street but main intersection in Athens. Need taxi/transit/car to get to sites but doable.
Our a/c was not really working well and although changed our room it was to a smaller room, not an executive room like we booked. A/c no better. They did provide a fan which made sleeping bearable in the scorching weather. Although staff were accommodating, perhaps upgrading room to a better room would have been a good choice for customer satisfaction.
Breakfast, bar and pool bar good. Pool deep and getting in/out difficult for older/younger folks. No shallow end.
Overall the hotel is a good choice if a/c improved

Some issues at checkout where we were given one room when the booking was for two despite querying one room card and stating booking was for two rooms. Felt a bit misled.
Hotel is a bit dated but the rooftop has a nice view and the pool staff are very nice.

Be prepared for large groups

This hotel caters to large groups. This is our 4th time here. Several groups of students were there at the same time. Noisy, unsupervised, locked up elevators by pushing all buttons, making it difficult for those of us who needed to use it. Staff did what they could. Wish adults in charge of group were more proactive.

Best Hotel So Far

The staff are very helpful, polite and professional. Every request is attended to ASAP. The Toilets are so clean could eat my dinner in them with no problem. Cleaning Service is top notch.

The Breakfast is good, typical fusion of Greek and American Causine. We missed the Baked Beans and Harsh Browns. But it was OK. Loads of variety.

Lovely hotel with great rooftop pool area. We used the hotel for 1 night after our flight had been deferred for 24 hours. Excellent breakfast and good sized rooms. Reception staff were really helpful. Only down side is limited dining options in the area in the evening but you could take a taxin to the busier parts of the city.

A beautifully well run and managed hotel. All the staff were polite and efficient, the facilities were excellent. We spent a week at this hotel and found it a relaxing place to stay when visiting Athens.

Very few hotels have pools and this was a great place to relax after a day sightseeing.

- Staff was ok, aloof at times.
- Pool attendant was rude to my son asking him to not dive. He’s 8, he doesn’t know how to dive. He’s a beginner swimmer but other kids were jumping into the pool and got no reprimand. The attendant got splashed by my son (forgive us, it’s a pool!) and got annoyed. He also was keeping other patrons from lounge chairs because he said they were “reserved.” There was no reserved sign indicating that so many patrons had to find other seating. Staff like this need more training.
- WiFi in the rooms are non existent. Just doesn’t work.
- No airport shuttle by hotel but they will arrange one for you.
- Breakfast was good. Wide variety.
- moldy smell in the bathrooms in our connecting room.

We arrived there room was not ready supposed to be done by 2 so went up to the pool area the photos certainly look so different and misleading . The staff member up there could only say no we spent 38 euro and it was a waste . Our room smelt like cigarettes I told staff members they sprayed and opened window but far too noisy to keep
Open. I then told the manager her care factor was zero . The way she presents herself I can see why the hotel has issues . Anyway we all learn

The bar man was so kind and generous. He was very polite and made my night when he noticed I wasn’t drinking the cocktail I had ordered and offered me a new one free of charge. (I wasn’t expecting this as it was my fault for ordering one I had never had before) The act of kindness was greatly appreciated and we returned for cocktails again the next night!!

WiFi was broken in the room. Very poor on the roof, bearable in the lobby.
Very limited service unless you were in the rooftop bar.
Reception and Laundry helpful, but didn't do what they promised to do (get a suit and shirts done for the next day).

Clean enough, although dated to the 80's and no sign of change.
Area is pretty rough, but it's a fairly decent stop for most things.

I've spend 8 days in this hotel.
Clean & comfort room, nice & helpful staff.
Rooftop pool is great, breakfast not much choice.
A bit far from centre, takes 10-15 mins walk to metro station, if u don't want to walk, can take bus to metro station, only 2-3 stops from hotel. U can buy 5 days bus pass for €9, can be use for metro & tram.
Taxi cost around €5 to the centre.

The highlight of our stay was the reservation he got for us on Lycabettus Hill restaurant with a fantastic view of Athens. The only slightly negative was the bed was extremely hard. My husband loved it however so it wasn't a negative for him.

While not as close to the main attractions of Greece as I would have liked (15 minutes in a taxi or 10-12 minute walk to the Metro and then four stops away), our stay overall was good. The rooftop deck and pool was quite lovely, the room was clean and the free breakfast was decent. It is on a main road so didn't have a neighborhood feel, and the desk was out of change when we tried to change a large bill, but those were minor issues.

Ok hotel but a hike to the centre over a steep hill (30 mins). They will say that there is a nearby tube - which is true but 12 mins walk. Wifi is poor and the gym pointless. Breakfast is basic - dont bother with the coffee (ghastly) and “hot” milk is at best warmish. Couldnt decide whether the scrambled eggs were powdered eggs or not, so steered clear. Staff were lovely - its not their fault the owners dont spend the money.

Chose it from the pictures i saw on the internet

It seemed central enough for me to do the shopping i needed in that area and was visiting a friend, the hotel i chose after checking out the pictures on tripadvisor and comparing it to the other around although it was a bit more expensive than the president for example but did not like the rooms colors and set up of the president pictures so decided to try my luck and go for this one and dont regret, lots of chinese tourists, had a chat with the barman and thats it, did not get the time to explore the hotel, breakfast is simple eggs and bacon, fruits and cereal. All in all did the job and was clean enough for me.

The air condition was dripping on the carpet all night. The staff were certainly not as friendly as can be expected of a 4 hotel. Location not central but ideal for people on business in the alexandras and avenues. The rooftop pool and bar is certainly a pro but maybe more of a 3 rather than a 4 star hotel though the room was clean and spacious beside the pre mentioned air condition problem

We stayed at Athens Comfort in on Loison. Everything was brand new. The beds were great, the bathroom and showers were much better than the Zafolia.

It doesnt have all the extras....pool..we did not use... weight room etc we did not use. Would have stayed at Comfort suites but they were SOLD OUT!

Perfect start to any Greek holiday.

Abundance of friendly and helpful staff, great facilities and a beautiful hotel. Located half way between the airport and the ferry port it's the perfect base for a couple of days in Athens (4 stops on the Metro, which is a 5-10min walk away, and your at the acropolis). The rooftop pool bar is a great place to end your day, and the buffet breakfast a great start to the next day.

Wonderful, clean hotel in great location!

The hotel was lovely - very clean and comfortable. It is also in a great location - very close to all the important sites in Athens. You can walk there or cab for 5 euros max. Also, the rooftop garden and pool are wonderful!! Very refreshing and gorgeous views. Overall this is a fantastic hotel. Would highly highly recommend!!!

Fine but overpriced, pool not open late

The hotel was pleasant but nothing special. The room (set up as a triple for our young daughter) was on the small side and had a lingering smell of smoke. The rooftop pool was only open from 11 until 7:30 so we never managed to make use of it - it would have been great to take a dip after sunset. The breakfast buffet was good but not the best, for example there was an orange \"drink\" but not fresh juice, and coffee came from a machine.

The hotel is a few kilometers away from the center of town, and not right near a metro station, so we needed taxis to get around. We took a couple of yellow cabs that didn't run the meter, and charged us 15 euro to get to the Acropolis area. After that, we used Uber and paid 5 or 6 euro for the same ride. Uber is not very widespread in Athens, so it took 10 or 12 minutes to get a ride.

We paid substantially more per night than we did for nicer hotels in other locations in Greece, which made the hotel's deficiencies all the more disappointing. Next time we would choose a more central location and would not have paid extra to have access to a pool that didn't turn out to be useful.

Very courteous staff, clean large rooms and large American style bathrooms. We rented a car and having u deerhound parking was a plus. It's a 15-20 min taxi ride to the Acropolis and in summer too far to walk due to the heat. Breakfast buffet was plentiful with many options to accommodate any palate. Rooftop has a great view of Athens and St. George on the top of Mt. Lycebetus.

* Just tried to leave my review, in which I said \"there's a 20% chance this review will upload correctly, because the wifi is ABYSMAL\" - and sure enough, it failed, and I lost everything I typed in. Seriously, the WIFI IS AWFUL.
* The shower is equally atrocious, a fat dribble with almost arbitrary temperature control
* I'm in Greece during a heatwave, it's so bright outside, and yet I have to put the lights on during the day because the room is so dark (the window overlooks a courtyard with very high sides)
* There's some kind of generator buzzing 24 hours a day, which is annoying if you wake up at 3am, stops you getting back to sleep
* The pool and roof bar are nice, but there are only about 20 loungers, and 4 umbrellas, so if you're not up there at 7am then you're out of luck. I've been up a few times on different days and there's never a space. One time I sat down inside and figured I'd have a drink while I waited, read my book - but after 15 minutes the waitress still hadn't come over to take my order, so I left
* Tonight I figured it would be nice to sit out there in the warm evening, read my book - not to worry about the service or expensive hotel prices, I'll take a couple of cans from the supermarket. However I got chased away, apparently it's \"illegal\" to take your own drinks into the \"restaurant\".
* If you don't like hard beds, then this isn't for you. I do, and this is verging on too much, even for me. Like lying on a block of wood.

When you come upon the hotel is like it doesn't belong there because is the nicest property in the strip. There is places to eat within walking distance and a bar and pool in the roof top along with a smal workout room. Breakfast is included but nothing to rave over.

I followed the positive reviews and booked a 2 nights stay at Zafolia Hotel in Athens. Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed - so disappointed that I thought I had to write this review.

First of all, there is nothing worthy of 4 stars about this hotel.

In more detail:
- The hotel is/used to be a smokers hotel meaning that the room smelled of old ashtray although it was a non-smoking room.
- The bedding is the cheapest stuff available, the pillows are a joke and I have rarely slept more uncomfortable at a hotel. The blanket was more of a table cloth
- It was almost impossible to regulate the temperature in the shower - so it went hot/cold/hot/cold
- The breakfast is far below standard
- The room itself was just not very clean
- The fridge in the room was making strange noises all night long. I eventually unplugged it

To sum it up: Very unpleasant experience.

On a positive note: The rooftop terrace has a nice view and a nice bar. But I guess you can go there without having to actually stay at the hotel.

Excellent staff very knowledgeable and helpful.

I have only two criticisms. 1 the food at the restaurant is blah. When in Athens I expect to get Greek cuisine not bland American. The other is the hours of the pool. It's hot as hell in Athens and 8:00 pm is when it's pleasant. If ask for later hours.

Happy stay

The Athens Zafolia Hotel is very well located closed to the city center, the neighborhood surrounding the hotel is very safe, nice and clean. Transportation is abundant. One of the nice perks at the hotel is the breakfast in the morning, very abundant and complete.
Our family really enjoyed this hotel.
