The staff at the front desk were not very friendly at all and even though we knew it was on the highway we felt it was very dangerous try to get out of the hotel parking as the visibility was limited and the traffic was driving very fast as it is a highway.

Arrived late so parking was limited. The covered parking is across the busy 2 lane road. The gentleman at the front desk was prepared and polite, escorting us to our little bungalow...it was dark..nice touch. Unfortunately we left in the morning while still dark but from what I saw, it looks like a really nice place.

A gem of a hotel

I love this charming hotel situated on the road between Algeciras and Tarifa. I thought there might be traffic noise but no such thing - just the gentle sound of a herd of goats nearby and the braying of a donkey. Decent sized rooms with terrace and a spacious bathroom. Lots of space to relax in both inside the hotel and outside around the large pool. I would definitely return.

We booked a bungalow, for a couple with a small dog. Good size room, a/c, small fridge and private bathroom with small bath and shower. Each bungalow has an outside sitting area.
The bungalow’s are located a few minutes walk from the main hotel, in the gardens near to the pool. When we stayed there were not too many guests using the pool, so was quite peaceful although there is a little road noise (could not hear it when inside). Pool a good size with loungers. We ate in the restaurant (nowhere else within walking distance). There was a good choice and the food was good and not overpriced.
The hotel is about 10km from Tarifa.

This is a small piece of paradise in southern Spain! The cabin we rented was spacious and clean. We had a small patio with two chairs where we enjoyed relaxing. The gardens are beautiful and well kept. We rented a car so it was easy to get to Tarifa (10 minutes away) and back and parking was right on site (unlike many hotels we stayed at in Spain). The buffet breakfast was great. The swimming pool is huge, and very deep so not ideal for small children. I would stay here again.

Good location - with some issues

I booked 2 Double Rooms. Because we arrived so late, I think we were \"upgraded\" to two \"cottage\" rooms. Good news: parking was convenient (just off the highway), location was convenient for the Tarifa port to travel to Morocco for a day trip and to go to Gibraltar the day after. The cottages were by the pool and the flowers were just beautiful. Downside: previous guest in one cottage took the A/C remote so my adult buys - who were given a fan - had a hot night in Spain. The windows were left open so there some bugs in their room. The cottages are relatively inconvenient to the front of the hotel require change in levels, numerous openings and a couple different sets of stairs. The maid placed my sons dirty clothes in the bidet which was not appreciated since they were in a pile on the floor. Our toilet was jammed but with jiggling we fixed it and it worked for the rest of the stay. In the end we liked the stay - just had a few drawbacks.

This is a lovely hotel, quite lovingly decorated in every hall and corner. The pool, deck, bar, is set in a garden, very tranquil. There is an excellent restaurant on site where we ate a delicious lunch (menú del día) while waiting for our room to be prepared. A perfect spot to rest after a day trip to Tangier, Morocco.

It's a nice hotel in the middle of nowhere, about 10-15 minutes from Tarifa, with nothing else around it. I was upset checking in when told our pre-purchased breakfast didn't start serving until 8:00 AM because we had to be at the port in Tarifa to board a ferry to Morocco at 8:30. But to the hotel's credit, people were there at 7:30 so we did get a quick bite before leaving. The hotel itself is fine. Clean. Comfortable. Decent TV and WiFI. If located in town, I could probably give it a 5.

Great hotel athough weather was terrible we loved sitting by the fireplace for evening drinks and breakfast. View From view was cloudy yet still inspiring. Resto staff are friendly with a sense of humour. Lots of character here and close to Tarifa or Gibraltar.
Only issue is weak wifi. I have local SIM card so not a big issue.

What a great find!

This hotel is gorgeous. Upon arrival we found that there was a mix up with our reservation dates. Even though it was not the hotel's fault they took care of us and honored our reservation. When we were shown to our room, we couldn't believe our eyes. It was a beautiful little bungalow room set in a little bit of paradise. From the outside you can't really tell how nice it is. the hotel is tucked away pretty well and if you don't pay attention, you'll drive right past it. It's close enough to Tarifa that you can hang out there in the evening or take the ferry to Morocco. We did both. It's far enough outside of the main part of town to be quiet and uncrowded. To top it all off, the price was great. I definitely would stay there again.

Great plate to admire the Straights of Gibraltar!

Last year we had taken a month to tour Andalusia, but we had missed three towns on our list: Tarifa, Medina Sidonia and Ronda. This year, we were visiting Morocco and took the opportunity to cross to Spain to finish our Andalusian tour. The people at this hotel were warm and welcoming (as most Andalusians) and the fare, outstanding.

Right on the busy road leadingfrom algeceiras to tarifa however rooms are set back so toad noise is minimal. Nice reception area with fire going (which may seem strange as Brits in the warm weather but the Spanish are cold in their winters). Had dogs with us so requested a bungalow which as it turned out was as faraway from reception as could be - a bit of a trek but room definately worth it. A bit shaded in the winter months, so could have felt a little old, but in the summer would imagine quite pleasant. Nice modernism with large bathroom. Definately worth the very short stay and would absolutely stag again. You do need a car though to make day trips etc.

Hotel near Tarifa, by noisy road.

Checkin was disappointing as clerk gave us a better room than booked and tried to charge us for the difference.I declined and said please put me in room originally booked. Eventually, he moved us down one floor and did not request extra money.
Bed was mediocre, so I could not really recommend this hotel. Amenities were OK , with lovely views fro hillside rooms. Did not use the restaurant, so cannot comment.

If you've looked at the Tarifa hotel ratings, you know the picture is not encouraging. Meson de Sancho is 10 minutes north along the coast and is better than the ratings I've seen for it. The staff is great. No matter what we asked for, they were willing to help with, including getting a call thru to my US bank. The facility is charming. Rooms are comfortable and clean and well maintained. The value for the price is astonishing. They were able to arrange a Tanjier tour, including pickup at the hotel (well, across the road) but only with FRS, but provided other suggestions if we wanted to go with someone else. The downside is there is nothing in the immediate neighborhood, but Tarifa's an easy drive. And it's located on a fairly busy road. The attached restaurant is terrific. Food was extraordinary, service friendly, ambiance like a big family dinner.

If your primary reason for being in Tarifa is the Morocco trip, this is where you want to stay.

Great hotel near Tarifa

We had just a one night stay at this lovely property. Unfortunately, the weather was not very cooperative so we could not enjoy the beautiful pool but the accommodations were terrific as was the view of the Atlas Mountains in Africa. Hotel is a little ways from town but not difficult to find. The staff were very helpful. The hotel also has a restaurant as well as a small gym which came in handy.

Stayed here for 2 nights as a base for heading to Tangier from Tarifa. Off a busy highway, but very quiet! Booked a room with a balcony and listened to birds chirp in the morning. about 9km away from Port of Tarifa. Free-wifi but it was very slow. Free Parking as well which was perfect. The staff were very nice, hotel was clean, beds were comfortable. Great stay. Wish we could have stayed longer.

This hotel had two sections.The main hotel was lovely, but we had a room across the street in the older section that was facing the road. I would book here again, but would not stay in the rooms that were not in the main hotel. They room we had was clean, but outdated and very loud from the road traffic.

Meson De Sancho is an interesting and different place to spend a night. Being some miles from Tarifa (and anywhere else) you would only arrive by car. The staff were welcoming. There is a restaurant that serves breakfast and I think also dinners. We found it all decent value.

This hotel is superb very well maintained and clean with lovely fixtures and fittings it was a real surprise very pleasent. The food in the restaurant was very tasty and well presented just a little limited on choice available. Well done overall and it is a plus for dog owners as it takes dogs with their owners in the rooms.

Location was great for us since we were there for only two nights. Our main reason for our stay in Tarifa was a day tour to Tangiers. They arranged the tour (at a very good price) and the bus picked us up right in front of the hotel. It included the bus, ferry ride, English guided tour with good lunch, and return bus ride. We had an evening meal at the hotel which was very good and reasonably priced. Hotel was very clean and decorated beautifully and had covered parking. We had a balcony. Beds a little hard but that is standard for Spain.

You can see Morocco from your room

I stayed for three nights at Meson de Sancho, using it as a base to explore the Tarifa area. It is a good few miles outside of town, on the roadside, so a hire car is essential for getting around. The rooms are very pleasant, with a nice colour scheme, and from the balcony you can see the mountains of northern Morocco (room 125 or thereabouts would give the best view, I think). The restaurant serves good food, though a greater range of choices would be even better. I was allowed a late check out at no extra charge, which I appreciated as my flight home wasn't until late evening. If visiting the area in future I would stay here again.

Comfortable hotel close to highway

The hotel is really a motel since you need a car. It's right on the N340 highway but no problem with noise. The rooms are a good size and well furnished. Nice bathroom. We had room only so can't comment on the restaurant. Lots of space in the public areas ... log burning stove in the lobby.

We chose this hotel as being well placed for a day visit to Gibraltar and it was fine for that purpose. The continental breakfast was unlimited in quantity but not wide in choice. The Dinner menu was reasonably extensive. Good sized room and bathroom with private balcony overlooking woodland and with air conditioning. Staff were pleasant and helpful with some English but none seemed fluent. Disabled should check access before booking because no lift or ramps were noticed and hotel is built on a hill with at least some bedrooms downstairs. Hotel is located on the south side of the N340 very close to the turning to El Cuarton. The frontage shares a forecourt with one of two filling stations, opposite each other. However, it is a country style hotel, with a swimming pool and gardens. It is certainly not a motel and not a beach front hotel. Seemed popular with bird watchers observing African migration. Personal transport probably almost essential.

this hotel is actually very beautiful with a stunning pool area and many little areas to sit in decorated in a traditional style. The actual room itself was average, clean but nothing to write home about. This is a good place to stay if you have a car as it is a little far from everything.

Amacımız tarifa dan feribotla tangier gezisi yapmaktı. Öncesinden feribot rezervasyonunu belki daha iyi bir seçenek bulabiliriz diye gidince yaparız dedik. Otele geldiğimizde resepsiyondakilerden birinin ingilizcesi fena değildi ama diğerinin ingilizcesi çok azdı. Onlara fas'a gitme seçeneklerini sorduk. Broşür verip anlattılar. Ama şu an feribot ofisi kapalıdır yarın sabah 7 de ararız buradan dediler. Odalar, resepsiyonun ve restoranin olduğu tarafta değil yolun karşısında. Odadaki telefon çalışmıyordu. Tek buyuk yatak istememe ve rezervasyonda belirtmeme rağmen iki tek kişilik yatak vardı. Resepsiyonu cep telefonundan aradım. Sabah 7 gibi gene mecburen cep telefonundan resepsiyonu aradım. Bu kez derdimi anlatamadım çünkü ingilizcesi zayıf olan açtı telefonu. Ben de şahsen gittim. Feribot için sabah konuşurum dediklerini hatirlattim. Adam aradı ve çok rahat bir şekilde yer yokmuş dedi. Emin misiniz ben turkiyeden bunun için geldim dedim.isterseniz kendiniz gidin tarifa ya dedi. Biz de eşyaları toplayip check out yapıp arabamızla gittik. Orada açık olan bir seyahat acentasına feribot bileti sorduk. Bilet tabii ki var dedi ve 2 dakikada verdi. Oteldeki görevlinin umursamaz tavrı, Feribot için bilet olmasına rağmen yok demesi hiç hoş değildi. Odanın telefonunun çalışmaması, bunu söylediğimde hiç umursamamaları beni çok sinirlendirdi. Başka otel düşünün derim.

Your room neighbor family drama experience

Got a room across the road from the main building. I was there on the 2nd of May, but inside there was a feeling that everything is really wet. Upside hotel facilities are worse than in the main building.

Real issue was how good you could hear what’s happening in a neighbor room. There was a door between rooms, but it didn’t stop sound at all. So, I was involved in some Britan’s family live including sex sounds, long talks, etc.

My advise - if you see second door in your room in this hotel - just run!!!!

Mycket prisvärt och familjärt hotell

Mycket trevligt hotell med välkomnande och service-minded personal. De billiga rummen ligger i bungalows på andra sidan vägen och har trappor. Vet ej hur de ser ut. Vi var på hotellet under lågsäsong och hade turen att bli uppgraderade till ett rum i huvudbyggnaden. Super! Bra rum med skön säng. Bra frukost som serverades vid bordet. Inget att klaga på.
Rekommenderas som nattstopp på vägen eller som bas för besök på ex.v. Gibraltar.
