We end up not staying in the hotel. They kept our money for one night. It smelled like Roche spray and they were roach. Poops all over the molding of the Room and the beds were wrapped and double Linning plastic Very unwelcoming to sleep in so we walked away, do not recommended, and it’s ugly and depressing. It’s not a hotel. It’s a motel more like a prostitution motel.

For people passing through for a night or two, or dragging their kids to Legoland, it's perfectly fine. It was pretty clean, and the staff was decent. It's about half a mile to Carlsbad Village, so close enough to the hub, and rideshares are cheapish. The nigtly rate is pretty low for the area, so it works on that level.
As a nice, \"staycation\" kind of place, though, not so much.
In my room at least, not one single towel rack or chest of drawers. The AC sort of worked, but it sounded like I was next to an airport (and I was already right next to the freeway).
Lots of cosmetic damage that didn't interfere with the functioning of the room, but some might be bothered by that.
The desk was way too small to try and get any work done, but again, that was for me.
It's just not for everyone, that's all.

Exhausted and frustrated, I decided to try Hyland Inn. I showed up around 11AM knowing check-in wasn’t until 3PM and respectfully explained my situation, just hoping for a little understanding.
The gentleman at the front desk didn’t hesitate — he simply said, “Absolutely, no problem.”
That level of professionalism and empathy turned a long, frustrating day into a great, restful ending. Because of him, I was able to get the rest I needed and show up fully for my son at his tournament.
Small acts matter. Customer service like that is why I’ll be back.

My main issue was the odd room-cleaning. We would leave for a little while in the morning, come back in the afternoon after the room was serviced, and all of our towels would be gone, but no new ones would be delivered. Each day, we had to go asking around for towels, which is small, but kind of annoying. Also there was nowhere to hang said towels in the bathroom.

I truly tried to only leave positive reviews, but this one was a tough one. The freeway noise was terrible and I know that’s out of the owners control, but it’s awful. The pillows are the worst quality that I’ve ever slept with. I would think about upgrading those. The lotion and the body wash/shampoo were out. Parking seemed a little sketch. Unfortunately, we won’t be staying here again.

The location of this hotel is so convenient for anyone who wants to spend time at the Village Faire in Carlsbad or needs to be close to Camp Pendleton. It's also a 5 min walk to a neighborhood park. First thing we walked into our room and there were ants in the bathroom. The desk was dusty and looked like it hadn’t been wiped. The pillows on the bed looked yellow and not white. I am a local and this was my first time staying here recently and, the place was very clean, floors & beds very clean. I did bring my own Microban to stray my shower fixers & faucets, etc. My remote didn't turn my TV on at first but, after going to the office and discussing the issue with Sam; he addressed it very quickly. And my stay was over for one night was amazing; slept well. Just don't RECK the place!!! And I didn't see homeless around on the grounds on my visit. I actually saw a family enjoying the pool that evening. Thanks for a pleasant stay & safe environment. I will be back later this year! 😃
