We enjoyed our stay, staff were helpful and the room was as pictured. However it does needs a little TLC as it appeared a little shabby…. Nothing major, but the curtains were missing clips and were hanging poorly, electrical conduits for tvs were untidy, with bits hanging off and laying on floor, and the metal floor strip in the doorway was loose and had screws heads sticking up.

The rooms stunk, the bathroom was constantly overflowing because of the clogged shower, and the employees were acting like it was completely normal. There was also construction in the room next to us that would drill constantly starting in the morning. Other than that the signal for Wi-Fi was terrible, the TVs didn't work, and the bathroom in general just stunk constantly. The only benefit this hotel has is if you want to be close to everything else walking distance wise.

Three of us traveled here for the Christmas markets. We checked in at 3:15 and the cleaning crew was still working. The hallway was full of dirty linens, but our room is ready. There’s no tissue in the tissue box, just an empty box. The toilet smelled of sewage and had brown water in it. There’s a hole in the wall. And the shower basin was black with grease and dirt.

The bunkbeds would be great for kids, but not a full-size adult, as it doesn’t seem to be loadbearing for anyone over 100 pounds. It was very noisy with the construction going on outside the window in the view of the residence balconies within 1 m of our window did not provide any kind of ambience.

Plus: it was easily walkable to everything you want. Staff was friendly.

great location as 2 stops by tram to the hotel - and hotel is close to Asam Church , a major landmark of the Baroque . Reasonably priced , once in the room it’s nice , built in sofa under window but no chair or desk. Worth the money , must say that smoking is allowed in the hotel but this alone and the need of a fresh coat of paint for the halls and maybe new carpeting soon . A bargain so one should not complain . I am not . no breakfast served .

I think it should be labelled Hostel not a hotel. The pictures on the site have no relevance to the hotel room condition or those we saw anyway. It should 100% be classed as a hostel. Don’t even ask about the bathroom.
Stains on every wall in the room the carpets inside and in corridor’s you could shoot a horror movie there easily. Staff very very helpful but the rooms ..

My go-to place for central Munich

I wouldn't recommend this place at all, I'm surprised hotels.com actually has it on their website to book.

The room was very dirty, the electrics were unsafe and everything seemed low quality. When I was sleeping a bug actually fell onto my face and woke me up, when I turned on the light I found it was a cockroach! Needless to say I didn't sleep after that and was worried about the cleanliness of the place.

The shower curtain rail in the bathroom was actually held up in place with a bit of earthing wire and a long screw hanging from the ceiling.

Thankfully it was a short stay otherwise I would have left and found somewhere else. I can confidently say it was the worst hotel either me or my partner have ever stayed in.

Definitely wouldn’t put a step back in that hotel, and obviously wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The only pro to this hotel is the location, good access to subway and old town. Besides that: room had lots of spiderwebs in the corners, windows didn’t seal properly (we got a cold because of that), door is loose and every time someone walks by or there’s an air current it appears that someone was knocking on the door, worst part is the shower: 60X60 cm square area with extremely big curtains that don’t stop all the water to end up on the bathroom floor and don’t allow you to shower properly without sticking to your body, plus ventilation is non existent in the bathroom so all of the humidity ends up in your room. Staff is ok, friendly and helpful. My recommendation skip this one and try somewhere else.

Im a budget traveler and this is the first hotel that didnt charge me for late check-in, we were 15mins late. Because we all know how Europe can be. AND they upgraded us to a bigger room !!!! Staff were very pleasant. And they have an elevator, because half the time of budget hotels, you will need to use the stairs with your luggages.

We had a very smooth check in process, the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Our room was clean and nicely furnished. The bedding and pillows were down and so cozy.
The location is perfect. Cafes and shopping right outside the door. Close to Old Town and transportation.
The bathroom was a little outdated, our shower head holder was broken but water ran hot and it still got the job done.

Was in a very good location and about 8-10 min walk to the centre/main square. Hotel doesn’t offer breakfast and don’t be fooled by going to the recommended bakery/coffee shop across the road. If you don’t know what you want before you’re served, they get aggressive! Seemed to dislike tourists! Never went back there. Walk a bit further down and there are some lovely friendly cafes. Hotel is very dated. They’ve tried to renovate and was ok but beds way too soft so didn’t sleep well. Friendly staff tho!

I stayed for 4 nights. The location is great — close to a walking boulevard, public transport, many shops, bars, and restaurants. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help. You can leave your luggage, have a hot coffee, or ask for local tips — they are really welcoming.

But the room was not clean. There was dust everywhere — on the mirrors, shelves, and nightstands. The blanket was not comfortable; the filling was all pushed to the sides, and the middle was empty. I used both blankets (since I was staying alone) to keep warm. It would be nice to replace them with proper covers or duvets.

Also, I stayed on the 5th floor, and to get hot water, I had to run the tap for about 5 minutes, no matter if it was day or night. So just be patient if you're taking a bath — hot water takes time.

Overall, if the rooms were cleaned better and the bedding replaced, I would stay here again. The reception staff is great, and the location is very convenient.

It was all wood floors which made everything very noisy in the rooms an hallways. You could here the people shower and use the restroom in the rooms around you. Very noisy place. Positive is the front desk clerks were very nice and informative and it is so close to the tourist attractions, food, and public transportation. Marienplatz is only a 10 min walk if that.

Pros of this hotel: low cost, extremely convenient location, very kind front desk people, and comfortable beds. I can’t express how much the desk people helped us. They were all very kind and accommodating.
Cons: very run down outside and hallways (think of this as an upscale hostile), shower drain didn’t drain, shower was super tiny, rooms very small.

Over all, it worked for my family having 2 rooms and the convenience of the place was great. I would love to see some money put into this hotel to update it. It could be super cute!

Our stay at the Hotel Am Sendlinger Tor was wonderful! Great location and welcoming staff. Our only complaint was the shower size and layout, but totally understandable and worth it for the price.

Insanely close to public transportation: cross two streets and you’ll find yourself at the bus, tram, and subway stations. Very small room, smaller bathroom, even smaller shower (again, worth it for the price— will be a bit of a squeeze if you have more than a couple suitcases). The front desk will hold bags for you if your flight is before/after check in/out. Front desk manned until 10:30pm. Super easy to find this hotel (there are flags outside hanging from the hotel so it’s hard to miss!). Desk staff was very kind and gave great recommendations (ex. Andy’s Krabelgarten 8 min walk away). Highly recommend this place if you want a great location and price!

We were absolutely cat fished on this hotel. The photos look nothing like the room we were provided. Hotel staff was pleasant, however, the elevator was broken for half of our trip, we had 5 bags and were on the third floor of the hotel and couldn't even fit in the elevator with our luggage. When arriving to our room the bunkbeds seemed to be made of Temu material. Very cheap and wobbly, questionable for the top person to be up there. The bedroom window was coated in some sort of dried liquid and you could barely see out of it. Now let's start with the bathroom. The light was a desk lamp that you had to turn a switch on for, the sink would not drain any water so you can imagine it was disgusting and the spout itself was entirely rusty. The shower had no actually \"tub\" portion to stop water falling out. The \"rod\" was 2 PVC pipes hanging by a wire from the ceiling and came apart multiple times. The curtain was cheap and hung by plastic rings that also kept coming unattached. When you turned the water on it was so loose on the hanging showerhead attachment, that the showerhead would turn and spray the ceiling. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a comfortable stay, we were lied to by Expedia and expect a full refund!! Photos for proof if they would let us share them!!!!! Unbelievable, especially after a full day of travel and just wanting to shower and be comfortable!!!!

Positive:

• Bed linen, towels and floor all clean.

Negative:

• The door to my room was flimsy and ill fitting, the corridors have wood flooring and are very echoey, so I could hear every loud footstep of every other guest who went to and from their room on my floor throughout the night. There were lots of them.

• Other guests seemed to have propped their bedroom doors open and were playing loud music and shouting to each other all throughout the first night of my stay. It was impossible to sleep through this, as the corridor amplified everything so it felt like the other people were right there next to you.

• No coffee making facilities - you had to go down to reception and make yourself a coffee (charge €2) if you wanted one. (Maybe that’s why everyone was stomping up and down the corridor so much?)

• The room was very dated, with chipped walls and paint, rusty and chipped radiators and all long overdue a refurb.

•The heating seemed to be permanently on full. To cool the room all I could really do was open the window, and the road outside seems to be the main route for ambulances with their sirens wailing. This didn’t really make much difference as the loud music from the other residents drowned out the sirens for the most part.

We had five guests in the room with a double bed and four bunk beds. The three of us in the bunk beds loved our sleep. Which surprised us. We enjoyed the walkable location to the main square and all of the restaurants nearby. The price was great for five people sharing the cost and given the location. We had to pay $40 for parking in the parking garage down the street for one night.

No facilities at the hotel other than a hairdryer and soap, not even an in room kettle/coffee maker. You have to buy a coffee for 2 euros in the lobby.
However it served is purpose as cheap safe place to stay and the bed was comfortable. Plenty of choices nearby for food and coffee in the morning.

This was the SINGLE WORST hotel I’ve ever stepped into. From bugs on the floor in the stair wells, missing knobs in the shower to makeshift beds this is hands down the worst excuse for a hotel I’ve ever been in. My wife and I spend on average 80 plus nights per yr in hotels and have traveled all around the world. We couldn’t get out of there quick enough. Thankfully we found a hotel 7 min ride from there and we never looked back.
