Check into the long time, but the lady was super nice. There was a bunch of remodeling going on so it made a little inconvenience, but they tried to accommodate as best they could. The bear was great super comfy. I stayed here several times. I’ll continue to stay here when I’m in the area. Just a real bad musty smell in the rooms. It makes a little uncomfortable and of course no continental breakfast but that’s OK. I never eat breakfast anyway.

The carpet traffic lanes within the hotel are horrible. It should not take Marriott much to hire a steam cleaner to come in and do a deep clean of the carpets. I frequent Marriott hotels and this one was indeed the worst I have seen in many years. Please get the carpets cleaned soon.

Extremely Disappointing Stay - Avoid This Hotel!

I recently stayed at this hotel and was thoroughly shocked by the lack of professionalism and cleanliness. Upon checking in, I was greeted by a woman at the front desk who seemed utterly disrespectful and unprofessional. She was eating her own nails while handling check-in, which was off-putting.

To make matters worse, I was assigned to a room that was already occupied. I was taken aback when I opened the door and encountered a man who asked if I needed any help. This was incredibly awkward and unacceptable.

The breakfast area is just as disappointing. The staff there completely ignored me, which was baffling given that I was only looking for a quick bite. It felt as though my presence was not even acknowledged.

The overall cleanliness of the hotel left much to be desired. I developed a stuffy nose during my stay and had to take medication for headaches caused by the poor quality of the bed, which was terribly uncomfortable.

I truly wonder about the management and what standards they have in place for their staff and property. By all means, avoid this hotel! I would not recommend staying here even if they offered a pay.

I was shocked this was a Marriott property. The carpet in the room just felt damp and slimy and there was a horrible musty, and hopefully not mold, sent in the room. Air conditioner vents had black on them. Who knows what it was.

Uncomfortable stay!!

Initially did not get the ADA room I reserved. I was told the ADA rooms were already booked. I was them assigned to a regular room only to discover the phone nor the TV worked. I complained to the front desk and she miraculously found an ADA room to put us in. The beds were very uncomfortable…lumpy and uneven. The lighting in the bathroom was dim almost dark.
At least the shower was ADA perfect with several grab bars and a seat. I would be very reluctant to stay at this Courtyard Marriott in the future.

This was an extremely run down Marriott property. I rented 2 rooms, one room AC did not work and it was about 8- degrees in the room. Both were dirty and outdated. We used the gym on site, and it was fine. I would not recommend this property.

I liked the staff. I really feel that they did their best with what they had to work with.
Cleaning was very lacking in many areas and many aspects.
I always associated Marriott with exemplary service and accommodations but this location has completely changed my mind.
I never give a review if my opinion is negative, but as a frequent traveler, I feel that my opinion is fair and optimistic.

My husband and I arrived around 9pm to check in, after attending funeral visitation services and dinner with family and friends. The receptionist advised there was no hot water in some rooms, and she couldn't get hold of the maintenance guy. There was another guy dressed very casually that she was trying to get to check, and he had an attitude. So she took me up to check the room. The water was luke warm and not getting any warmer, also, the tub had a dark ring around the bottom. She felt it, assured me it wasn't dirt, just wear and tear. We cancelled, with no penalty but had to find another hotel in the middle of the night.

The phone number to the hotel doesn’t work, no one answers. Also our in-room tv didn’t work and the in-room phone was disconnected so we couldn’t call the front desk to ask for help. The “bistro” flatbread was just a frozen pizza and they didn’t give me my chicken with my Caesar salad.

Courtyard Marriott in Alabama 👎

I didn’t stay I checked into my room that smelled of mildew mold and musty carpet so pungent it made you tear up. I asked for another room the second room was the same. There an issue throughout the hotel with flooding of some sort there were buckets and debris everywhere the wall paper was buckled and the housekeeping staff were using air freshener to mask the smell. I asked to cancel my room I was told I could I went to retrieve my family returned and asked for a refund and I was told I would be refunded for the room.

When I walked in the young lady was very friendly and was very welcoming. I hate I didn’t get her name. The room was very nice and clean and the atmosphere was great. Only thing that was that the phone wasn’t working. But overall I enjoyed my time there. I will definitely book again!!

The room was good.
The bathroom had a blue towel on the curtain rod when I went to open it. I put on the ground. Housekeeping didn’t move it when they cleaned the next day.
The hallway carpet was old and dirty. You can tell the parts they cleaned and the parts they didn’t.

We arrived after check in time, the lobby was ok except for it being very hot. The staff had a couple of fans trying to keep cool. We were giving room 206 and my mom went to use the bathroom and the toilet didn’t work. I went down to inform them and they said that someone will be up to look at it, well they never came until I went to them again, at this point it was 11PM and we were so tired and was ready to go to bed. The front desk was so shocked that nobody came to look at the toilet that she gave me another room but that room was used and smelled like marijuana Room 311. I went back to them and told her that the room was used. She was so compassionate that she wanted to make sure that we were comfortable staying there so she accommodated me to Room 319, the manger walk with me to check the room and she noticed it had a bad smell in it but offered me some air freshener. We we’re there for a family member funeral at 11 am that Saturday morning and were was so tired that morning because we had a long drive that were was over it at that point. Because before we arrived there were had a bad experience at the Renaissance in Birmingham downtown because they had bed bugs. So we booked here and still got a very bad experience. I will never stay here again because the carpet in the hallways on each floor are so very nasty and the plumbing is bad because the toilet barely flushed.

My wife and I always stay at the Courtyard when we visit Montgomery, which is many many time per year. This recent visit made us question continuing using this hotel. This time the room smelled old damp and musty. The shower and the sink drained incredibly slow and the toilet had a light sewage smell coming from it( no one had used it yet). The ac I assume was doing the best it could since we couldn't tell what the setting were and it was very hot and humid on this weekend. We like the proximity of the Courtyard as it is closer the places we're going and our families.
My only wish is that maintenance were a bit better, other than it a fine place to stay for a couple days.

I have always thought that a Marriott hotel was above average. So, it was disappointing to find broken security boxes by the outside doors. Another sign for a declining facility is finding baseplugs with loose connections for inserted 110 electric items,”like cell phones to be recharged at plugs or by the bed.

The good news is that the bed & amount of covers / selection of pillow weight & fluffiness was good. Otherwise, there needed to be attention to mold on the bathroom at ceiling & wall. Frustration with housekeeping...had been 2 minutes into a hot shower to accomplish Goal #1-washing hair...only to find there to be 2 conditioners on wall (dispensing shampoo container units)...seemed a bit dirty. my guess is I didn't get top choice of rooms, cut w/ tax still at top $. No free coffee in lobby (without buying breakfast); room coffee maker sufficed. The little Bistro bar & food nook was run by a NICE woman who WAS professional and courteous, so the $15 cocktail (add tip) was worth it... Had a small 'walled\" area to catch up on news/(TV) and it had comfie divan seating.

This Marriott hotel is one of the most tired hotels we have stayed at. Everything was well worn, the carpets in the hallway were dirty, we were not getting daily house keeping, which is fine except we do need coffee and cups everyday and it was difficult to find someone to bring those to our room.
The ladies at the front desk were usually talking to other employees so it felt like I was interrupting if I needed to ask for something. One time there was an argument happening between 3 housekeepers at the front counter. Our keys stopped working twice during the week and we had to get them re-keyed, as did everyone else in our group, all on different floors. One of the outside doors wouldn’t open at all- the one nearest the elevator, so that was inconvenient.

The staff was kind; however, this was not a typical Courtyard at all. The carpet was filthy. The bathroom needed to be updated and had a dirty towel on the shower rod when we arrived. The TV in the sitting area didn’t work. The pillowcases and love seat were stained. The overall feel was grimy. Also, I checked out a night early, and the hotel is refusing to refund me for the unused night.
