APA Hotel Nagasaki Ekimae, ok let's get the negatives out the way, I've stayed in APA hotels before, this is not their best property, it felt tired, smelt of tobacco smoke in places (the lift) and lacked some of the amenities of their other hotels. That said the staff were amazing, helpful, knowledgable and courteous. The cleaners had worked diligently and everywhere in my room was clean and tidy. it is fantastically located for the station, shops and streetcars, with short journey times to all the places you're coming to visit Nagasaki for.
I will forgive APA Hotel Nagasaki Ekimae negatives, because I fell in love with Nagasaki, I'm not really sure what I expected from my visit before I arrived but I can't wait to return to this beautiful little gem of a city.

Room was much smaller than the APA hotel in Kagoshima. I could barely mover around with my luggage and all. Great business hotel or for someone very light on luggage. The location, right across the street from the station, was great.

Restaurant and breakfast were really good. Nice little pub in the evenings. Not too far from shopping and a few attractions.

Very clean. Fixtures were all updated.

Check-in staff were a little cold and uninviting. Staff working the next morning were very friendly and helpful.

End of the day, I’d stay here again despite the close quarters.

They serve breakfast in the pub nextdoor. The breakfast is acceptable but the cream is not kept cold and the boxes of single malt that setve as decoration haven't been dusted in quite some time.
Lots of amenities, but towels aren't as good as others in the chain.
Bathroom is really small and there is no place for shower stuff in the shower.
Toilet sounds like a waterfall when flushed.
Location is very convenient to all transportation.
Area has character...search out the non tourist places.

One of the older APA hotels I’ve been in and one of the smallest overall but with the biggest rooms. Super nice front desk staff. Decent Japanese style breakfast. I didn’t try the western style. Not a buffet breakfast. Very good location for access to transport. Right across from train station and right on the tram routes so easy access to most of the commonly visited tourist sites. Nice city too.

This hotel was good for the location and the price. The bathroom was a little small but I enjoyed my stay here. There is a Irish pub on the first floor so make sure to check out the surrounding area in Nagasaki. Friendly staff and excellent location for the price.

I left 30-minutes after checking in and found another hotel. I had booked a non-smoking room and all they had was a horrible room for smokers. The window looked out to a wall and I could hear the neighbor next door. I immediately booked another hotel and was relieved. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

People service was good and place was relatively clean.
The city stinks like gas from poor planning of the road in front of the hotel. Also there is noise from this road.
The air quality in Nagasaki is very poor and parts of the city are nearly seedy. Nature is beautiful but u have to get to it first.

Full amenities were provided, i.e. toothbrush, toothpaste, shaver, cream, comb. Shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, handwash all provided in big and easy to pump bottles. This is a very big plus point.
Bathroom was a bit too small, eg shower tub, sink and toilet bowl are too close together. This makes it akward to move about.

Hotel very convenient, next to station area with many restaurants. We had some ambulance noise one night. Morning noise not an issue. Blackout drapes best I saw in Japan and I had best sleep of trip there. Laundry facilities fantastic, 2 washers so no waiting. You get bottle of water from 2d night on. Makes a huge difference in Nagasaki summer!

APA is a decent hotel chain and the usual practices are all well-taken care off. Good wifi, clean rooms hot showers and all that.

Great location to the JR Station and Nagasakiekimae tram station. Both less than 5 minutes away. The tram essentially provides access to all parts of Nagasaki for 120 yen per ride or 500 yen per day, with the day pass available at the hotel front desk. In addition, the 26 Martyrs Museum (a major historic site) is only 120 m behind the hotel.

The hotel building is square shaped so all rooms are quite close to the elevator. Similarly, the room is also square shaped so there's no wasted hallway space. And there's a foam cover that softens the mattress.

Breakfast is either Japanese or western style. I stayed 7 days at this hotel with breakfast which meant I got awfully tired of having the same breakfast day after day. My mistake which is the reason I didn't give an \"excellent\" rating.

Cost was very, very reasonable. And I had the option of paying at the time of reservation or paying at check-in. I elected the later. Having this option is very unusual.

I would definitely stay here again (except for the breakfast) and highly recommend to others of this hotel.

Very Handy BUT....

This Hotel has the perfect location. Streetcars going to all the places you need to go stop right in front of the hotel and the bus departure to Unzen and Obama is right next door. The room was very inexpensive too. But the place was pretty run down. The elevator did not have an automatic optical sensor which meant that sometimes it could close on you or strand you before you had a chance to get on. There was only one working wash machine, and the place overall was dark and a bit worn. Hotel staff friendly and helpful.

This was the worst hotel I have stayed in for years. The reception people were nice, but that is where it finished.
The breakfast was passable, but that was the only thing worth commenting on.
I will never stay here again and will recommend anyone visiting Nagasaki to not stay at this hotel!

This is a great business hotel.

Everything about my stay was very good. It was the normal Japanese business hotel. It was a small room, but comfortable, clean and in a great location.

The location is great. There is a Starbucks right across the street and more importantly Nagasaki station. From there, you can get pretty much anywhere you want.

The only problem I had was with the in-room fridge, which didn't seem to work. I want to stress that I never brought this to the attention of the staff of the hotel. They never had a chance to address the problem.

Finally, this is a typical business hotel. The rooms will be clean, but not huge. Your big advantages are price and location.

Great location near bus center, train station, and shopping arcade. Tram lines and bus lines near make it easy to navigate the small city of Nagasaki. Rooms are very small and typical for business type hotel in Japan. Bathroom and room was very clean and neat. Staff was helpful in recommending dining options of western and local favorites. The toilet filling its water can be a little noisy since the room is so small. Large people traveling may have a little cramped feeling due to small room size but average asian sized people will be cozy. Price and convenience are the best here.

Conveniently located. Typical business hotel.

Small and dated, like typical Japanese business hotels but right across the street from the main Nagasaki train station. Do note there are only overhead crossings so if you have a large suitcase, be prepared to climb stairs unless you can find the only elevator (2 block detour). I will not hesitate to stay there again because of the convenience and value for money.

Yikes. This was the ugliest hotel I ever stayed at in Japan. It verged on creepy. Glad I wasn't by myself. Price and location were good, but wow, they need to brighten this place up with some fresh, cheery paint. Thank goodness I didn't opt for the breakfast buffet. Imagine the darkest, ugliest, saddest cafeteria...that was this hotel's dining facility. The room I was given had a window...oh yes, you open the curtain and the window was about 10 inches wide and revealed the teeny, ugly, narrow space between two dark and sad buildings. A sliver of sky was barely visible. Steven King could have had a bit of inspiration had he stayed here. The double bed touched three out of four walls. But, on the other hand, the room and bathroom were both very clean. The bed was comfy. It was okay for the one night we stayed in Nagasaki since we really only showered and slept in our room. You don't stay here if you want to kick back and relax. The museum and Peace park were excellent. Food in a nearby restaurant was terrific but the gals on the wait staff looked like they literally rolled out of bed after a long night out at a concert, couldn't find a hairbrush, and had absolutely no sense of hospitality. Not one smile. Met a lovely pair of sisters at the next table. So we ended up having a great time. The hotel did let us borrow umbrellas for the downpour. That was very nice. Unusual city, that's for sure!

This is an older hotel. The room was tiny with the bed up against the door. There was black mould everywhere! On the walls and in the washroom which indicates a serious water leakage problem that has never been fixed. I had trouble breathing at night because of this. There was only one customer washer and dryer as the other two had do not use signs on them. I would not recommend this to anyone.

The hotel has a great location because the Nagasaki JR station is a central point where all trains, buses and street trams will pass through. It is no frills hotel. The downside is that the bathroom is tiny - it is difficult to even take a shower without hitting the wall.

This hotel was very comfortable and run by pleasant helpful people, although everyone we encountered in Japan were of that ilk. It is across the street from Nagasaki Station, extremely convenient for our early morning train the next day. Although the street is a main road, the multitude of trams made it vibrant and easy to come and go, and was silent from our hotel room. The rooms are typically small, but space was perfectly adequate. Finally, Nagasaki itself is a lovely city, the A-bomb museum and Peace Park deeply moving, and the Dejima waterfront area tasteful and romantic in the evening. Great stay.

The room was covered in mildew and I'm not sure if they have ever cleaned the walls. However it's a perfect location, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the sheets were clean even if the room wasn't. I wouldn't reccomend the breakfast, it's OK but not good enough for the price. There is a restaurant on the 2nd floor of the station (Royal Host, visable from the entrance) that does a much better and cheaper breakfast.

Convenient location across Nagasaki Station!

Cross the overhead bridge from Nagasaki station and you will reach the pale red color hotel building. Quite a cozy hotel. Room was ok, free WI-FI in the room. Thumbs up for that, since I've never stayed in a budget hotel that provides WI-FI in the room. They allow you to store your luggage before check-in time, so that's good. Other than that, not much complaints. Would choose this hotel again if I'm back in Nagasaki.
