Staff were all very lovely and we had a nice stay. The hotel itself is shabby chic and in some places could use some upgrading but I really enjoyed the dated decor mixed with the somewhat modern twist. Our bed was really really comfy, the room was warm and cosy, the shower was really old but really powerful so totally acceptable (if it ain’t broke) There was a little bit of noise as our room was at the top of the stairs and we did have some loud conversations happening during the night as if other guests forgot there was a room here! Lancaster Gate and Paddington stations near by, lots of food, little shops, coffee and pubs close by and opposite Hyde park for a stroll. The main road outside is quite loud all night but we live on a main road at home so not much of an issue! Would probably stay again!

Not the hotel for you if you are looking for brand-new everything, but the ambiance and feel of the Columbia is uber-cool. Loved the well-wornness that felt both artistic and comfortable. Hyde Park location quieter than most. Kind and gentle service at the desk.

Good experience for a cheaper hotel. We stayed in London for 5 nights and had no issues in our standard double room. There was a little vanity-type area to get ready which was nice. The building is quite old, but brings a lot of charm. Wouldn’t hesitate to return back to the Columbia.

Great welcome. Excellent parking onsite for £10 per day. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful throughout. Great continental breakfast including gluten free options, meats, cheese and yoghurt. Located directly opposite Kensington park. 5 minute walk to the tube.

Qua ligging top met het openbaar vervoer. Tapijt in de kamer en krakende vloeren. Badkamer zeer 1920. Voor de rest schoon. Nog een keer boeken? Als het tapijt weg is en de badkamer verbouwd is dan zeer zeker. Personeel vriendelijk.

The staff were very friendly, and the lobby/dining area looks nice. However, the room looks really old and very different from the photos. The heating was not working, the floor was making a squeaky sound, the soundproofing was poor, and the floor was not clean.

Everything was good, except for no availability of amenity goods. I should have checked in advance and brought a toothbrush and a sleeping wear, at least. A phone line to the front desk wasn't there, either, and I wonder if I could do better if I walked down to the desk.

The room was gloomy and depressive, internal with a window looking at an air shaft. The hotel was dated which is a shame because it has big public rooms and could have been made into something wonderful.
The photos do not reflect the reality.
The hotel staff was very nice, helpful and polite.
The housekeeping was also good and location was great.

Beautiful hotel lovely period building so pleased they have kept many original features. the staff were brilliant. check in easy. lovely place to relax overlooking Hyde Park, in which we enjoyed great walks and coffee and the hotel made our dog very welcome. We had such a lovely room.

I stayed here for 2 nights and it was a very solid experience. The location of this hotel is great. Good WiFi and nice little bar inside. Beautiful building. Overall it was a pretty bare bones though. Rooms are pretty small and very simple. But the beds were comfortable and it gets the job done, especially if most of your time will be spent out exploring London.

We didnt require parking as we travelled by train to London, but it's very easy 15 mins walk from Paddington or a short cab ride.

We had the pleasure of being served by Kevin at the bar, the drinks selection was great, and at a good price, and the service excellent.

The hotel rooms were a little dated but the bar, lounge and dining areas, were charmingly still with all their period features. Filming was taking place outside the hotel or an upcoming film but we couldnt find out which one..

Excellent situation close to tube and bus routes into the city and other parts of London. Easy access to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Lots of interesting walks. Many cafes and restaurants in the area.
Very interesting building, impressive staircase and function rooms. Fairly basic but certainly adequate bedroom and good sized, original avocado, bathroom. Reasonably priced for this area.
Staff unobtrusive but helpful when needed. Daily housekeeping. There is limited parking, but we didn't use it. Overall very satisfied. Would stay again.

This hotel is very run down and in desperate need of a refresh! Walls have many areas where plasterboard repairs are still on show, paint and wallpaper coming off and looks like it’s still in the 80’s.

The rooms have paper thin walls and floors, and the windows don’t have any seal against drafts or noise. This makes for a tough sleep, especially with a family.

The staff were okay but definitely did not offer a “good service”, the bar man was not helpful at all and did not make me want to spend any extra money.

Such a shame as the location is excellent.

Old style mansion property. Quite beautiful but with that came squeaky floorboards and leaking tap. No heating or aircon in room but a fan was provided. Two bath towels and one bath mat supplied but no hand towel. When I enquired they provided another bath towel. Staff were friendly. Position was excellent. Walking distance to Paddington where we dined at a fab Italian restaurant and to Paddington Station. The Swan Pub just a minute down the road was excellent too.

Great location but the noise from a room next to us was appalling. The first night an American was shouting for about 4 hours and the next night him and his wife was having an argument and in the morning he was being sick very loudly. I spoke to reception the first day but no response came back. Not sure I will go back.

We had a lovely stay at the Columbia! They were very helpful with things we needed to refrigerate and the staff were very friendly, particularly the young lady working the desk on the evening of the 30th and morning of the 1st (sorry, I didn't get her name). The hotel was in a great location, being just off Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens and having a bus stop just outside. I will definitely look to stay again when in London!

The outside look of hotel does not match inside decor, friendliness or service. Amazing historic facility should come with staff knisledgeable about its history and be willing to share. The hotel has a beautiful decor and the room size was surprisingly spacious, which I really appreciated. The design and furniture gave a cozy, stylish vibe that made the space feel welcoming. However, there were some major issues that affected the stay — the door had no proper lock, which didn’t feel secure at all, and the floors creaked with every step, making it hard to relax or move quietly. And there was no fridge. It’s a nice-looking place with potential, but it definitely needs some maintenance and basic safety improvements before I’d consider staying again.

We loved the location of this hotel and the service from the staff was good. They accommodated us after hours and were easily accessible and friendly.

We didn’t realize the rooms do not have air conditioning, which made things uncomfortable at times. There was also a lot of work being done on the building that was noisy and we weren’t warned about prior. The building is a bit older and has beautiful features, but lacks some convenience. Overall we enjoyed our stay especially at the price point.

At first we arrived and they gave us a room all the way at the top and there were stairs to get to our room plus stairs inside of the room and stairs going down into the bedroom- super odd. Not safe for our child. Also was SUPER hot and muggy because there is no AC. We asked to change rooms and thankfully were able to. They moved us to a better room. Very small rooms not depicted in the photos at all. Sink didnt work well. It was good for our 2 night stay because we could walk to Kensington Gardens and grab food nearby but we would not stay there again.

The good: A historic property across from Hyde Park with a lovely exterior and convenient to transit. The staff are eager to help and our room was kept impeccably with fresh towels daily. The less good: the property is tatty and the bathrooms need updating. Dining and the bar were underwhelming. The paint choice for the second floor hallways is horrid.

First of all, I absolutely LOVED staying at this property. What a cool place and an interesting part of town and close to the tube. Although the hotel is past its heyday, it still is majestic, has much charm and the rooms are clean and comfy. Staff was friendly, happy hour was relaxing and breakfast was very nice. I would definitely stay there again!
