Unfortunately the room we were initially placed in was not suitable — we were located above the function suite where Christmas parties were being held. We had been warned of slower food service, but not about noise. To locate non-party guests above this space seemed a poor choice.

Bathrooms had been modernised and good shower pressure. Light from the car park lit up the room despite “blackout” blinds. Noisy electric heater in the room. Staff were kind and helpful.

Breakfast staff were excellent especially Rita Katia Goma an italian looking waiter and another young chef whom worked alongside Goma all were very cheerful helpful and great service. Fruit selection could have been better and the drinks as seemed watered down. Wifi was no good at the breakfast area. Cushions uncomfortable and not soft enough very bulky. Our stay was overall really good. The food was amazing and well worth the money in my opinion although there was discussion that it was more in the pricier side but it proved to be worth it in my opinion. The room as really clean and the shower was my favourite part of the room.

Very clean and comfortable room. Staff accommodating and friendly. The safe in our room wasn’t working and was reported straight away. Unfortunately it still wasn’t working when we left. The hotel is quite some distance from the town centre and the bus service isn’t that frequent so we had to book taxis which the hotel did for us. Car parking is easy as there is big car park with lots of parking bays.

You only get three stars because of the food and drinks served. Breakfast was excellent but the pasta dish I had for my evening meal was very bland and tasteless and the bottle of Rioja I was served a glass from had clearly been open for quite a while and the wine was going off.

Our first time using Holiday Inn and it was a very pleasant change from other budget hotels.Having staff welcome you at reception is a great start.The accessible room we requested was completely satisfactory for my wife who has Alzheimer's and movement and cognitive issues.An incident with my wife in the early morning hours when she lost her sense of bearing was dealt with professionally and with sensitivity by the night staff and we are both very grateful.We have booked another stay and are glad we have found this little gem.

The hotel itself is ok but needs some attention, the aircon did not work (we did have a small oil radiator) the window did not close properly and let in cold and noise, shower head leaked.
The manager was good but the foreign guy behind reception could not understand english very well which was frustrating especially when we had a pizza delivered to reception, the delivery guy couldn’t understand english either so that was very frustrating.

First room we had was fine, clean and seemed reasonable but the shower room wouldn’t drain and essentially flooded the shower room. Spoke to reception who said they were having issues and moved us straight away, no issues and nice about it all. The second room had a bathroom so no flooding issues but desperately needed an upgrade. The carpet had doormat over near the window to cover up a previous leak or stain, the window was clearly broken and had been desperately siliconed to an inch of its life but was still draughty, the wall paper was peeling and in the bathroom the previous toilet roll holder had been ripped off the wall and just exposed plaster and a hole left to view. The food however was lovely and an excellent menu. We had breakfast twice and dinner on our first night. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Just maybe bad luck our room was needing a make over.

Very mixed experience. Friendly and helpful staff. Bar and restaurant have a good selection and breakfast good value. Condition of bedroom poor. Clearly some effort has been made to refurbish (e.g shower) but much more needed and really showed its age with stains throughout carpet, torn and peeling wallpaper, unrepaired water damage in bathroom and cracked washbasin. Also heating via portable electric radiator. For the price, Holiday Inn really needs to invest in refurbishing the bedrooms to the standard expected of their brand,
