Loved the feel of this historic hotel. The staff was great at both breakfast and check in. Temperature control in the room was a challenge and would have appreciated a little more communication on cleaning the room for our 2 night stay. Overall, our visit was very good. We would return.

Its a lovely property w/a farm feel. The staff were nice and the food was delicious.. happy hour was a great touch and max the bartender was on point with those margaritas!! The room however. I booked a queen suite w/sitting area and unfortunately got a king rm, which they said was an upgrade, but it had no separate sitting area which was why i choose the queen rm. I was definitely disappointed in that it made it harder to achieve my plans for the stay.. the checkout was smooth and the woman at the front desk was very insightful in telling me that some sites were advertising rooms that werent available and there was a meeting coming up to discuss the matter. All and all the Joseph ambler inn was a quiet relaxing stay. The grounds are beautiful and the accommodations are good.

This is a special piece of history that has been comfortably updated and expanded. We were there during a quiet week, and it felt magical. The amenities are minimal, but there's plenty of common spaces and historical charm. Kept nice and clean.

It was a campus like setting. Our room had a patio with lovely, green surroundings.
On arrival, we were given rooms on the 3rd level with no elevator. I am recovering from knee surgery and requested a change to a first floor room. The staff was very accommodating.

The property is beautiful. We're very happy to have had this experience.
It is an Inn not a cookie cutter hotel. We were on the second floor. There was no elevator. There were also no ice machines. You had to go to the kitchen for ice.
I would reccomend this for a romantic get away, not a family vacation.

My family booked 3 King rooms and we were all quite comfortable in our rooms as well as the common areas. Very relaxing and private.
The employees we encountered were all very courteous and helpful.
We enjoyed both lunch and dinner at the on-site restaurant and were very impressed with the quality of the the appetizers, entrees and desserts. The \"JAI Tai\" drink was also delicious!

Love this property! I was attending a wedding in Rydal, half an hour a way, and I happily stayed here at JAI.

After we arrived from the wedding, it was late and the kitchen was closed. Bought a couple of pizzas nearby and the manager happily let us eat outside in the terrace, brought us water, napkins, etc. Terrific experience!

Great value for the price. Check-in was easy and staff was nice. Room was above their little pub, but it wasn't noisy. The cold water in our sink did not work but the hot water in the shower did and that's all that really mattered. Shower and room were clean. Having a night cap down at the bar was nice too.

Disappointing and Dangerous

A snowstorm hit the day before and the parking lot was still barely addressed. Ice everywhere, barely any salt laid and my husband slipped as a result. When we reported to management their answer was “well we reached out to the landscaping company”. It was one of the WORST business lots I have ever seen an entire day after a storm.
Nowhere in the area was that poorly plowed or that dangerous. It’s a law suit waiting to happen that they treated too nonchalantly.
The concierge is unfriendly and acts like you are an inconvenience by checking in, etc. We couldn’t get an early check in yet the entire house we stayed in was empty, we were the only guests for the 4+ suites. Probably one of the few guests in the entire place.
One of the worst mattresses we’ve ever slept on. My kids have $100 mattresses off Amazon that feel luxurious compared to what we had. You literally roll and sink into the middle.
Extremely disappointed was an understatement. I had been here before for events and was blown away by everything. Now this place is comparable to your basic hotel stay anywhere. It has definitely gone down hill over the years and needs some overhaul.

Room wasn’t clean.. hair in bathroom. Turned on ceiling fan, dirt and debri went all over. Bedding didn’t cover box spring of mattress well... box spring that was visible.. was filthy.
Remote didn’t work. No fridge, no microwave. Had to get ice from front desk. Left room around 10 or so, same night.
Room smelled like the soap from lower floor.. other guest below we’re taking a shower.. and you can clearly hear other guests... uncomfortable.. so we left..

My husband, and I really enjoyed our stay here. We took my son on the Santa Express in New Hope PA and stayed here. it was 30 minutes away but we are extremely we chose to stay here. The room was quaint and cozy. The room had exposed brick, an electric fireplace a sofa and a nice flat screen TV. The room itself was very clean and sanitized. The staff was friendly and they served a grab and go breakfast and had coffee all day in the reception area. We will be staying here again.

Really lovely spot for our anniversary! Front desk staff were very friendly and professional. The room was clean (some stains on the carpet, but I wasn't expecting a 5 star resort, so I didn't mind) and the complimentary breakfast was great. The house that our room was in was beautifully decorated for the holidays and we felt very safe. Would absolutely go back!

Room was a nice size but the bed was so uncomfortable and felt like you would bounce off when sitting down. Sunk down in the middle so threw out our backs and we didn't sleep well. Last time we stayed, we had a mini suite and the bed was amazing. This room had no mini fridge or microwave and no ice available. No chair to sit in other than the bed either.

We had a limited stay, 2 days but due to COVID we didn't dine at the restaurant - though when we walked by, the food looked good. The only thing that was unpleasant here was the barking dogs at 3am and other times. I mentioned it to the front desk and they said they had gotten similar complaints and that it was the police K-9 unit nearby and they've raised the issue with the police to no avail. Surprising that K-9's would bark all night and police would let them, and very discourteous of them. Not anything the hotel can do about it, but something to keep in mind.

I wanted to like this place, but was dissapointed

I really wanted to like this place but it just didn't happen. There was no hot water to shower, I let it run for 20 minutes and it was freezing cold, so my morning was a little difficult and it wasn't fun flying home on a 4 hour flight after check-out feeling dirty. There were hardly any guests in the hotel, yet they placed two groups of people next to my room and they were up partying till 2am. The walls are paper thin so it was impossible to sleep. The bed had no comforter, only a bedsheet and a decorative top sheet that was rough and thin, so I woke up throughout the night freezing cold. I will say the pillows were very nice though. But some of these small details make a big difference, and I hope this Inn can figure out how to make some changes to improve the customer's experience because a little goes a long way.

Overall property was nice, but individual room lacked. We may have been the only ones there due to Covid, yet our requested king size bed room was unprepared for us upon arrival at 10 PM. The sheets were changed upon our request to prepare the room for our stay, but dirty pillow cases remained. Musty odor prevailed. Breakfast consisted of 3 day old danish, which we did not eat. Will not return.

This Inn is a hidden gem. We had a wonderful stay. The 200 year old buildings are located on a lovely area tucked back far enough from the highway so that you are not disturbed by traffic noise. It is pleasant and quiet. We enjoyed just sitting on the patio outside of our room. The restaurant and bar are both excellent. In the midst of the COVID problem, you don't have the normal interaction with staff; however, the staff we did see was very friendly and attentive. Rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. Great value; great place to stay; we will certainly return.

We checked in Friday night, after dark and raining. Front desk was difficult to find, however Dominic was very helpful showing us to our room. Later that night Dominic supplied us with a box fan we need to facilitate sleep. Very helpful young man.
We were gone all day Saturday visiting family and did not return until after 8:00 PM. Unfortunately the only route I knew took us through the restaurant seating area. Only later did I discover a alternate route. All three nights we enjoyed the room and especially the memory foam mattress. We are planning purchasing one ourselves. Sunday we had lunch outside with family. Beautiful setting, great service with excellent food.
Sunday afternoon I went for a walk across the street and snapped this picture of a barn.
Beautiful place, we will be back.

The property itself was beautiful! Breakfast could be longer than an hour and also coffee makers in rooms would be nice ! The bad experience we had was the heat did not work ! Friday night put it on 90 never got above 63 notifies feont desk got extra blanket! Complained following morning before we left for day was told maintenance would check it! Came back 7hrs later stop in office no one knows about main or heat! Room was still cold so after complaining 4x they brought us a space heater ! Really did nothing to help! The hotel didn’t even try to make good with a discount or anything! One lady told us the heaters were broken before we checked in and were supposed to be repaired ugh obviously they weren’t

Well we stayed in one of the of the small rooms in the main house where check in is, and it was a bit disappointing. Basically, the room was in the attic and it was as if they just shoved a room up there so they could have as many as possible, but it was super creepy, tiny windows, the ceiling was slanted over the bed so I could literally touch it which gave a very claustrophobic feel to the space, and there were these weird tiny doors. The room was a bit dusty and my pillow was dirty. And right outside our door there was a piece of wood that was very obviously covering up a giant hole in the wall. Honestly, the people were nice and the outside grounds were beautiful, but from my experience I won't be going back. Was not what I had in mind for my engagement anniversary weekend.

Unclean decrepit disappointment

The property is stunning. That's about where it ends. While I was looking forward to a B&B feel from a large establishment for my friends wedding I got far from it!

The first room had bugs all over the bed! The carpets in the whole establishment are in need of a deep clean and show their age and stains. There was mold in the shower and the chair rail in the bathroom hasn't been dusted or wiped clean in eons.

They were kind enough to move me to another room after showing one of the bugs to the woman at the front desk. The second room. Showed the same soiled carpet and lack of cleanliness. The furnishings we're all scuffed and in major need of attention. To top it off the sink in the bathroom didn't drain properly.

Capping off the night there were roudy guests outside the bar after close that remained, fought and carried on into the wee hours of the morning.

After the poor night sleep and the lack of cleanliness, I skipped breakfast.

Very disappointed.

Joseph Ambler Inn is a charming inn conveniently located in North Wales. I had the deluxe queen room, and found it to be spacious and clean. One thing I noticed immediately was that even though my room faced a busy street, I did not hear much traffic. There was a large closet and even an ironing board cleverly located behind a mirror. The bed post blocked the TV which was a bit annoying, but I did not spend much time in the room anyway. The bed was fairly comfortable, but the pillows were very uncomfortable and I did not manage to get restful sleep either of the 3 nights. The large spa tub as well as the bathroom were nice, but the ceiling had stains and the shower needs to be updated as well.
While the Inn and its buildings are beautiful and historic, the rooms are in need of some TLC and updates. Although the room did not have a coffee maker, there was one located at the reception area, which was convenient.
I had breakfast on site 2 out of 3 mornings. Nice variety and delicious food in a very pleasant atmosphere with helpful staff.
I would stay at the Inn again, but would bring my own pillow.

It is a very pleasant and pretty property, friendly and helpfull staff. Only disappointment was the toilet handle was not working and had obviously been previously repaired incorrectly. I repaired it properly rather than bother to call then wait for someone to fix it. The cleaning staff should pay more attention to things like this before the room becomes occupied.

I would normally not leave a negative review - if you have nothing nice to say, etc.- but I use other's reviews to help me, so here goes. (And for the record, I didn't choose this hotel; this was my boyfriend's doing.) The grounds themselves are beautiful, so if you want a nice setting, this is it. However, the room we stayed in was so musty I was worried we were going to contract some aspergillis pneumonia or something (we didn't). I think they tried to cover the smell with another sweeter but annoying smell (think overpowering candle) which gave me a headache. The bed is ROCK HARD and sleeps hot. The linens felt damp. I literally was awake all night. Watched the sun rise. The bathroom is too small - no counter space for anything. Moving on... we did not eat at the restaurant but we did get drinks at the bar. Service was slow. They provide a nice breakfast but not much variety if you have any dairy intolerance. All in all, it was not a good experience. Would not recommend.

The setting is gorgeous, I love the history and colonial era buildings, but bed was uncomfortable, breakfast ended earlier than I would like and for those who don't eat eggs not a lot available (but it is free so that is nice) staff was for the most part very friendly and nice, first room had moldy smell, second room had small bathroom

We went for a birthday dinner. We live about an hour away so we decided to spend the night. Property was beautiful. We were very happy with our room. Very comfortable and spacious. Entire staff from front desk to restaurant very nice. It was a nice little getaway. There was a wedding going on, looked so beautiful. Would go back and check it out if I ever needed a wedding venue.

Good Overall

This is a cute little place we stayed at for a wedding and is nice if you're into the bed and breakfast feel. The place is quaint, clean and well maintained but definitely in a little bit older condition overall, which is part of it charm really. Our room was on the smaller side but worked for us. Breakfast at the property was a buffet and fairly average food overall. They did have slightly different options each morning though which was nice. Dinner at the wedding was definitely above average and not disappointing at all so I assume dinner in the restaurant during the evening would be similar. The property is on a fairly busy road and you do have to drive most places. Although, there are some nearby bike/walking trails that are accessible from the inn and the property itself is a nice place to walk around.

We were here for a wedding. The food was excellent, the Inn was charming, we loved the setting and that the guest rooms were situated in different old buildings around the property.

Our room was spacious and clean with one of the best mattresses I have ever slept on!
