PROS: Location was excellent and access to the outdoor terrace was a nice perk.

CONS: The small room was worn and in need of refurbishment. Property does not have round-the-clock concierge, so make sure you let them know of any changes in arrival plans to prevent being locked-out. More communication from property regarding check-in procedures would have been helpful. Beware of being asked to pay the tourist tax in cash - cash payment tends to be more than the city-imposed tax rate. Insist on credit card payment and you will likely pay the “correct” amount (as this fee must be declared and in line with government regulations).

We stayed in the rooftop unit and it was amazing. The room was cute and we loved having the rooftop lounging areas to relax on. The hotel was very accommodating, they let us check in early and check out late due to our flight times. We slept really good and the AC was very powerful (not common in Europe). The location is in great proximity of all of touristy spots, shopping, and cafes (Coliseum and Vatican City are about a 20-25min walk). This location is dated but that’s honestly why we loved it so much, it had cozy feeling like you were staying at a relatives place.

This place is super small, dirty, and worn down. The only thing I liked was the balcony but felt guilty using it because there were other guests rooms tied to it and I did not want to disturb them. It is not worth the price and I would recommend staying anywhere else.

This property is anything but luxurious. The room was dirty, it had ants, the bathroom shower head was plastic and looked like it would explode, the bathroom shower was taped together with silver duct tape, there was mold all over the bathroom, dust everywhere. I could keep going but you get the point. The location and balcony were the only positive things I could say. For as much as we spent I expected more. I would recommend staying anywhere else.

The property was in a good location. However, there are some major issues. The listing stated that it had an elevator and was accessible. It was not. The elevator could only be reached after going up a couple of stairs. The elevator in no way could hold a wheelchair. There were other stairs to navigate and we had to climb a 2 story outside, circular staircase to get to our room. The room did not even have a chair in it and the shower needed some work. The patio was nice but did not make up for the deficiencies. We have previously stayed in much nicer accommodations in Rome at a lower cost. The Shali is definitely not luxury and the accessibility information is inaccurate and needs to be changed to not accessible.

We loved staying here! It was our first time in Europe and Italy, and it felt like we were staying in the heart of Rome. Everything was walkable, and we felt very safe. Even the locals said we’re staying in an amazing spot. The only downsides are that the room is a bit small and the shower flooded, but we would stay here again if we were to come back!

Frank met us for our checkin. He was friendly, kind and informative. I was very happy with my room. My room was very clean, had plenty of room for our luggage. Everything worked…from outlets, to fridge and safety box and air conditioning . Loved the rooftop area, it was nicely furnished and comfortable. The location was wonderful. Shops, cafes. restaurants and tourist areas. were walking distance. We felt very safe. I will stay here again.

Room is extremely small, can not walk around it. Desk to do any work would bearly fot a lap top. Shower had soap and shampoo from previous visitor? It wouls not drain, nor would the sink. Needless to say, i got an earful from my wife and 14 year old.

Shali Luxury Suites is an amazing place to stay. Frank is kind and knowledgeable, always ready to help with anything you need. The suites are conveniently located within walking distance of most historical landmarks, plenty of cafes and restaurants, and high-end boutiques. Though the property is on the 4th floor of an old building, we were pleasantly surprised by the suite’s privacy, cleanliness, and modernity. The balcony is beautiful, offering a perfect escape for relaxation.

Where to start. We loved staying at the SHALI. From the second you walk in you are greeted and helped with your bags. Keep note this hotel is on the 4th floor with only stairs or an old rickety elevator.

The bedrooms were clean and well kept. I loved that most of the modern amenities were here including shampoo and body wash, you don’t always get that at European hotels. My only complaint about the room was the bed, it was horrible. I am somewhat picky though so it may not bother you.

The location of this hotel is PERFECT! It’s exactly where you want to be, in the heart of Roma. You can pretty much walk anywhere from here. We even walked to the coliseum, granted that was a very long walk but you could do it. Trevi Fountain is about 10 minutes away as well as the Spanish steps.

I almost forgot the best part. You will love the patio on the fourth and fifth floors. They are so welcoming and inviting! We ate dinner up there and had a glass or two of wine in the evenings. The SHALI over all exceeded my expectations and I would definitely go back (especially if they invested in new beds).

I loved that they had AC. The roof top was beautiful and the location is fantastic. Walking distance from all the major attractions like the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, and even the Pantheon. There were so many nice restaurants and great stores/boutiques to shop. My wife and I knew we were booking here more for the location than anything else and it was still a disappointment. It is a 2 minute walk from the Spanish Steps / conveniently located near the Spagna metro - but these are the only positives I can honestly come up.

The central air vents (not the AC) were stuffed full of dust and do not appear to have been cleaned in months. After inspecting the bed upon checking in, we found dead bugs folded into the base sheet of the mattress...

I understand the calcium present in Rome's water can make cleaning difficult, but the shower was full of soap scum and looks like it had never been given more than a courtesy rinse as it's \"cleaning\".

Frank may be available 24/7 by WhatsApp but the hotel is not staffed 24/7 - an important distinction as Frank appears to only be there to check guests in. The front door is rarely locked, meaning security is entirely contingent on an evelator and the expectation a staircase door on the hotel's floor remains closed. Something that a guest could easily open and no \"staff\" would know of until the next time they show up for a check in.

The outside patio space was great. It is a common space but we typically had it to ourselves. The room was adequate. Shower could use updating. Frank was very helpful. When booking be aware this is a room on a floor with 2 other rooms and businesses on the 3 lower floors, not a hotel. Frank (front desk) was only there in the morning and to greet us when we arrived. It was fine for what we were looking for. Convenient to transportation and very walkable.

What shall I say about this place? It definitely is not a hotel but basically about 7 rooms in two floors. It was not squeaky clean, dusty everywhere, including towel racks which I had to ask them to clean twice. Worst of all, they had a major problem with water leaking from the shower into the bathroom and living room. They did fix it but not until the last day which btw, we had to leave early for them to fix. The host was a nice guy but the property was not professionally run like a hotel. False advertisement. The patio was nice though and location was great.

Good location.

The accommodation is in a great part of Rome. Very walkable to the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Spanish Steps. About 30 min walk from Termini Station.
It is a small property with only 3 rooms. Service is great and Frank, the manager cleaned my room as requested as soon as I asked as I was coughing quite a bit from the visible dust on all the vents.
The bathroom is very small and tricky to get into the shower as the door only opens up about 45 degrees due to the bidet being in front of it.
The room I had was quite small but I was travelling solo, so it was fine.
I would stay here again for the location and the security but would not necessarily call it \"luxury.\"

The hotel tax is advertised as 3.50 Euros pp/nt but I was charged 7.00 Euros per night, so will be asking them about this.

We liked that the property was within walking distance to attractions and the shopping areas. Building was secure with many locks. The downside was we had to carry around 3 keys and the key card for the room while out and about but it was worth the level of security. One thing we would recommend get changed was the name of the suite was on the key fob so if the keys got stolen or lost, the thief's could get into the room if they were found. In room safe was good, rain shower was awesome. Frank was very helpful and nice. Overall a good place to crash for a couple of nights

Great location but if you are looking for a full-service hotel, the Shali is not the place to stay. The rooms are located on a 4 floor of a building without amenities. The receptionist Frank is a great guy but if you need something at night or you forget the keys in your room, nobody will be there at the site to open the main door for you.
Yes indeed, the \"suites\" are located near Via del Corso, Spanish stars, and more notorious shopping streets in Rome.

Disappointed, establishment can be better.

I was disappointed given the name of the establishment. Beware of the listed property highlights as they are misleading.
-Airport transfer means they will call a cab
for you.
- Free WiFi- was not able to get reception
In the room had to go outside for phone
call and internet use.
- No laundry facilities. Was told to wash
anything had to venture out about 15
away.
- Breakfast is smaller than expected
nothing luxurious.
- And most importantly the bathroom did
not seem clean ( see pictures)
- dust on the edges of the bedroom floor
looks like it had not been cleaned for
a while.
Although the front reception was nice and the location is great for shopping and sight seeing, things can be better.

This apartment is at the perfect location, close to dining, and shops. Walkable distance to Piazza Navona, the Parthenon, the Vatican, the Coliseum. Frank was a great host, easy to communicate with and fast to respond to any request we had. The hotel can arrange taxi to pick you up or drive back to the airport. Will definitely book again when back in Rome

We stayed in the upper suite, with a patio - had a great rooftop view of Rome. Very close to the Spanish Steps and it seemed like it was within one or two miles of everything. The hotel is in a prime location, and the surrounding streets are full of shopping and restaurants. Frank is also a fantastic host, making you feel like a guest in his home. We would absolutely stay here again!

The property is in a very good location with attractions like the Trevi fountain 10 mins walk, and Spanish steps 5 mins walk away and the Spagna metro station 6 mins walk away, which made it quite easy for us to travel around quite easy. The room itself was cozy, clean and being on the terrace was good as we were undisturbed. Breakfast was simple and sufficient. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. There was a small water leakage issue in one of the taps of the bathroom, which the staff were quick to check on. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location off a main street in an area with lots of restaurants and near main attractions. Spacious room with nice bathroom. On 4th floor so small elevator to room was nice to have. Terrance was comfortable and breakfast was very good. Helpful staff. Other reviews mention the small room on the floor above the terrace for one person. We enjoyed our room on the main floor a great deal. Car transport from airport was reasonably priced and good service.

The surprise for us was the concept of apartment being converted into several hotel rooms. The rooms were on 4th floor, rest of building was offices or something. You did not have your usual hotel lobby and 24 hr services. But overall quaint clean but small.

DISHONESTY AND CHEATS! The hotel imposes 30 Euro for check in at 9:00pm. Such requirement is not posted anywhere by the hotel or by Expedia.com. It is IMPOSED ARBITRARILY at check in. The door was locked and no one showed up until after 9pm. Breakfast is a joke! Watch this hotel!

Excellent service for our stay here while in Rome. A smaller but good breakfast, with warmed croissants and other pastries, coffee, juice, yogurt, cheese... The room is very small, but well put together. We were creative with our 3 large suitcases and were able to make it work. Air conditioning is good and we had a sliding door to an outdoor space that would be suitable for a smoker. It was great to be able to access the 2 outdoor areas at all times. When we arrived we did not know that we needed a key to use the elevator and I had to climb 4 flights of stairs to find out (fearing that the elevator was broken). Once that was done and we got the key, all was well!!

We recently had a 2 night stay at the Shali. Although our room was quite small, it was very clean and had a nice view from the terrace. The location was excellent for walking to the major sites around the city. Jonathan did an excellent job each morning of serving a continental breakfast on the terrace and was extremely helpful in scheduling transportation when needed. Would recommend this property for anyone interested in a smaller, quiet establishment over a larger hotel.

Jonathan was very helpful, we had rm 404, he brought our luggage to the 4th into our room by the stairs(no elevator to the 4th floor). Breakfast was ok(scramble eggs, toast, croissants and danish) coffee, juice and bottle water. It would have be nice if the window had a screen. Had to opened windows to sleep because no air conditioning on at that time(April 29-May1)

Great location, very comfortable

This hotel is in an amazing location, within a 25 minute walk of all the main tourist attractions. Just up the street is the Spanish steps and all the designer shops to browse. The room was small but had everything we needed and the bed was very comfortable. Easy access to the room, and friendly staff. Will definitely be recommending to friends and family

Wonderful 3 Night Stay - Would Stay Again!

I was a little nervous about booking at the Shali Suite because it is a small hotel (4 rooms) but I am so glad I booked because the room was AMAZING. We had the rooftop room overlooking the private patio and couldn't have been happier. The room was cozy (queen bed) but there was enough space to put all of our luggage (we had large suitcases for over 2 weeks of clothing) and were able to keep the windows open at night. The shower was large for Europe standards and the bathroom was plenty big enough. The service was great (thanks, Jonathan!) and breakfast is provided every morning on the patio for certain hours. The location is wonderful - walking distance to many touristy highlights (Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps) and lovely restaurants. The walk to the subway (which can connect you to the train station) was only 6-8 minutes, so overall, the service, the room and the location is well worth it.

Fabulous little Boutique Hotel

Beautifully presented boutique Hotel very close to the Spanish Steps, the Metro station at Piazza Spagna, and the shopping district.

We had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. a big comfy bed, bathrobes and slippers, a safe and a minibar. That said the room was small so may not suit everyone. We liked it very much and hope to return next year,
