On booking we made a request for either a ground floor or easy accessible room. We recieved no reply, so we looked through the web site. No where does it say we are unable to accommodate disabled persons.
So i messaged again.
Expedia messaged to say they had accepted our booking & taken payment so we thought our request must be in hand.
How wrong we're we.!
Not only was our room at the back of the hotel, but up lots of tiny stairs & down stairs & up stairs.
We asked to check out but were refused a refund saying they would not refund unless they rebooked the room out. Also blamed expedia for accepting our booking. We were forced
to leave other wise we would have been stuck in the room for three days

10/10 for the Staff!!

The property is historic and sprawling but badly in need of some TLC, even just a lick of paint would help. The staff there are amazing, nothing is too much trouble for them and they are friendly and welcoming. Saying that they are rushed off their feet due to understaffing. We ate there on the Friday as a table of 9 and everything was great (although they have a new chef and have changed the menu since we were last there and it wasn't as good - most of the starters were bought in stuff) We ate there again on the Sunday and there was only one guy in the kitchen, our main course was late (a couple arrived, ordered and had eaten their meal and left before ours arrived!) with the accompanying fries arriving after my husband had finished his meal. Lots of things not available on the menu; steak, lamb and fish had run out. Thai Cocktails and Tapas were advertised but had never been available. It was obvious staff were embarrassed to continually explain and apologise but they are being let down by the management who's focus is elsewhere unfortunately. Not sure if I would stay again which is unfortunate as we loved our last stay there 2 years ago. If we did go back it would only be because the staff made the stay so pleasant

Not too bad, bit of a rabbit warren to find your way round with steep stairs. However had a fire alarm at 4.30 in morning and evacuated to assembly point across street. No fire brigade turned up, no staff to check we were all out.Went back in after 20 minutes when alarm stopped(cold and raining) and found a staff in dressing gown saying someone smoking in room. Not us (don't smoke) but no signs in room stating NO SMOKING.
Thought at least an apology for inconvenience caused, but nothing.

Last time I stayed here, it wasn't too bad. For a couple reasons this time was worse. There was a machine that runs through the night making all sorts of different sounds. Then in the morning there were doors slamming all the time while I was trying to sleep. Final nail in the coffin was on the last night when the fire alarm went off at 11:30pm...then 1:30am....and then 4:45am... The next morning when we checked out there wasn't an offer of any compensation for the alarm screeching through our last night. Decent location, central to the town and walkable to the train station, but definitely reconsidering coming back.

A practical stay which was ok

Overall the stay was practical and the beds and room was a good size and clean. The Thai restaurant served hot tasty food and with a pleasant service.
The breakfast FOH service was not too friendly, a little grumpy in fact. Overall it was a base for a wedding so fit the bill. I would search the area a little better before staying there again.

We had lunch before check-in and enjoyed the roast dinner, especially the vegetables and the service. My dessert was forgotten. We checked in and found the room clean but no bedside lamps. The room was very hot, a staffer came up but the windows wouldn't open and there is no heat control in the room, so she brought us two fans. It was quite a long night with the traffic noise, fan noise and the warm room. Would not stay here again.

This is a traditional old pub/hotel which is great. The rooms are a little dated, but clean, and it is good to be somewhere that is individual.
Bed was comfortable, bathroom functional, staff friendly. One thing which would be good would be if it was made clear that the kitchen is not open on a Monday. Fortunately, there is a pub across the road that does food!

The hotel sits right on the high street and we had a room facing the road. Unfortunately the road is very busy and the noise continues through the night which made the room far from peaceful. There was even a delivery truck unloading at half past midnight, and the hotel is opposite a Wetherspoon's so one can imagine the noise. The room had secondary double glazing which had little effect. When we asked for an alternative room we were offered one for an additional charge, so a peaceful night's sleep is apparently an optional extra. We were also there during a heatwave and the room had no aircon and no fan.
Finally, the TV was essentially unusable because the signal was so poor, and the shower was a sea of mould.

Our roomwas at the front of the hotel. The room itself was lovely. Beds comfortable. Bathroom bit tired with discoloured grouting.
The only problem was the noise and music from The Anchor opposite which could be hesrd thumping away to the early hours.cant beleive they get away with the music being so very loud. Hard to sleep.

Amazing place. To say the accommodation is attached to a pub, couldn’t hear a single thing from the crowds.

Nice room, ablutions, food and reception, however booking into the room at first was confusing as you need to enter the pub (very difficult if you have lots of large bags).

Lastly, iron and ironing board. It’s great having the option however semi broken iron, dirty and damaged ironing board + cover left for a stain on my shirt when steam was applied.

Lovely stay. Staff were all very welcoming and friendly and were attentive throughout our stay. We arrived late Saturday evening but were still allowed to order food. Having an extensive Gluten free menu went down very well for one of our party. Rooms were lovely and warm, very comfortable, nice decor and soft furnishings. Plenty of information in the room back. Good selection on drinks facilities in room and lovely complimentary biscuits and toilets. Bathroom was clean and warm but basins were quite scaled. The shower was amazing. Table was allocated for breakfast for our party. Food was very good. Would definitely stay again. Although we didn't use it, there was a lovely outside courtyard area. Hotel had lots of character and its history was interesting. Excellent night's sleep in the large family room.

Great budget hotel which is let down by the atrocious housekeeping. Even after complaining, the room wasn't cleaned (after 4 days!) and the bathroom /tea-coffee supplies were never replenished.
On the positive side; the bar/restaurant staff were exceptional - especially Lou-Lou who was so polite and bubbly, she made the stay for us.

The Old Bell is an old coaching in type of property which has been made into good value accommodation. However, because access to rooms is via small steep stairway, it would not be suitable for anyone with restricted mobility.
It is centrally located in Warminster and has its own private car park. Whole of town's facilities are within easy walking distance.
Train station and buses would allow travel further and roads are good with Longleat a mere mile or so out of town.

However, we had a room at the front of the hotel, and the road was really noisy so couldn't have the window open. Tried to watch the TV in our room in the evening, and the picture kept constantly breaking up, so turned it off in the end! Room was OK, quite tired looking, but the beds were comfortable and the bed linen was clean.

Family rooms are very large and adequate for a good nights stay. Beds are comfortable and room is clean. Building is old and rooms have a charm along with the age of the building. Hotel rooms are above a pub and if you want a silent night this isn’t the place for you although we had the windows wide open as it was a very hot day 31degrees. So might be different with windows closed.
Warm showers with good pressure.

Breakfast is tasty and staff are friendly.

I would happily stay again!! Price of stay is very good.

Stayed Two nights the bed was comfortable, the late night music was not a problem however there was no hot water on the first morning, (This was rectified by the afternoon) The main criticism of this location was the lack of attention to detail in refreshments not being replaced only half the towels replaced, bins not emptied, bed not made etc would I stay again, Hmmm maybe.

Large clean room but with a strong smell of disinfectant everywhere, loose toilet seat made using the loo like sitting on a bucking bronco. Potentially beautiful courtyard seating area spoilt by cigarette butts everywhere and general lack of cleanliness ( at one stage a large pile of dog poo was left for a few hours). However, these are minor fixable criticisms which are easy to remedy. The staff were very good and the food was hot and tasty. Bring ear plugs as the pub over the road can get very noisy.

Good place to stay for a stop over. If you have mobility issues, I suggest you ask staff to carry your luggage to your room as stairs were narrow and you have to leave the main part of the building to reach the rooms. There is no lift.

The room was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Important to realise though that this is predominantly a pub so good idea to phone ahead and check what they have on that night as we had loud karaoke until midnight. Also if you have children be aware that the ‘restaurant’ is classed as the bar and children have to leave at 9pm but you still get to hear drunk people swearing in the street until the early hours. A pleasant enough place if these conditions suit your needs.

When we arrived we found that the hotel is actually a pub with room above rather than an actual hotel. However we began to check in. Initially they couldn't find our booking and it took half an hour to sort our what was happening. We then began a very long hike to our room around the whole place. When we eventually found our room it turned out to be directly above the bar looking into the high street. We had booked a double, single and sofa bed. The room we were given was 3 single beds and a sofa bed. None of this was brilliant but we checked in and got ready for dinner. We went out to a local restaurant and returned at 9.10pm to be greeted by a burly bouncer outside the front of our previously quiet \"hotel\". We were told that we weren't allowed in with our children. We explained that we were staying above for the night and were then told \"OK well I'll let you in then but you'll have to go straight up to your room as the kids aren't allowed in the bar\". We went in and asked if there was anywhere we could sit to play cards and have a coffee etc. We were told no, we would have to go to bed. Despite being quite cross at the situation and the rudeness down to us, we took the children up and tried to make the best of it. However that is when it got even worse. Apparently, we have since learned that Friday night is party night. There was a disco in the room directly below where we were sleeping. Additionally, the pub opposite (which looked perfectly nice during the day) turns into
