The friendliest place ever, with a true inn experience, rooms above the pub, small but with an ensuite! Centrally located for trips to Bath, Bradford on Avon, even only 1 hour from Wales. Bed was comfortable, shower was wonderful. Mostly the people made us feel like family, so lovely.

Great place work amazing food and a very comfy bed

Lovely food. Some of the best ever. The burger was to die for. Slightly chaotic with all the dogs barking causing havoc and shame couldn’t eat outside as there was a funeral on and loads of people from the wake seemed to have priority. Missed breakfast out of my own fault but lady made me up a bacon roll after checking with a chef.

Only a one night stay but lovely none the less although very hot and the blind could of been down in my room with the window open when I checked in but overall it was all ace with lush food both evening and Brekkie

Stayed here for two nights while visiting Bath. Loved the room (named \"Jake\") with its compact space and the layout between the room and the bathroom. You just can't get places that have character like this in the States. Ate dinner both nights in the restaurant which was very good. On both nights (weeknights) the restaurant was full. The venison pie was outstanding. Opting for something more healthy my wife and I chose the porridge with local honey the first morning and repeated the same on our second day breakfast because it is excellent. They have ample parking which was nice that we didn't have to worry about finding a spot on return when coming and going.

A very nice country pub in a great location for visiting local attractions in Bradford on Avon. Friendly welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We met friends and family for dinner and the food was good. We stayed in the annex which was clean and comfortable albeit the room was small and the single beds were quite narrow so need to check on booking if singles are required and sizes of doubles. Excellent clean bathroom with good big walk in shower. It was quite with little noise from traffic. We enjoyed our one night stay and would return if visiting area again

I booked a double with breakfast but ended up with two singles. Breakfast doesn’t start until 8 so didn’t get that either as I had to be at work for 8.

Nice place but bed way too soft

The room was very small, bathroom door was restricted opening by the bed.
The pub is a lovely old building but this raised issues with condensation/damp in the bathroom. The single glazing will have contributed to the amount of traffic noise, which was unexpected given the hotels location. The bed/matress was very soft which is the main issue as due to this we had very little sleep and now have an aching back.
The staff were pleasant, the place was clean the food was good.

Good food. Poor rooms

Paid for a comfort room but it should have been advertised as a box room. The towel rail in the bathroom didn’t work so it was extremely cold in there. The TV was unwatchable due to poor signal, which also affected my phone. The whole room just felt tired and old. I wouldn’t choose to stay there again. The bar and food however were good.

Comfortable and clean.

The room was spacious with new furniture. The bathroom was very clean. Tea and coffee were topped up daily, the bed made and the bathroom cleaned. We ate in the restaurant which served lovely well presented tasty food. There was a good choice for breakfast. We had the full english which could be changed slightly to your specific tastes. We would definitely recommend.

Very nice pub with lovely food and clean rooms. The only negative was that it was a warm night so we had the windows open. Our room faced the main road which at 5.30 am got a bit busy with traffic which woke us up. In Winter with the windows closed it would have been fine. The other rooms away from the Jain road would have been quieter. That aside, it was a nice pub with goo food and a lovely breakfast. We would stay again.

This was a nice place BUT when I booked it I didn’t know that the pub and restaurant would be closed on the Sunday so I couldn’t eat not enjoy a cosy country pub which was why I’d booked it. It was lovely for the Monday night. I’d return but avoid a Sunday!

My husband and I stayed here for its proximity to Bath. We were very pleasantly pleased by our stay at the Tollgate Inn. After a long day of driving, we walked around the beautiful neighborhood and fields. Then we had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant, followed by lively music by a band. The next morning, we had a fabulous breakfast, cooked to order. The room was clean, updated, with all of the amenities we needed. Highly recommend this Inn and would stay again. Lastly, we got a wonderful tip from one of the staff in the morning to park at the local station to take the train into Bath. That was such a clutch suggestion!

Pleasant village pub

Well equiped, good-sized, very clean room. Good, fairly basic breakfast and dinner. Pleasant helpful staff. The only drawback is a lot of traffic noise in rooms on the main road.

Really lovely stay breakfast fabulous great choice we had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent food excellent value excellent service. Exceptionally cold weather our room was unfortunately cold the first night after talking to staff this was immediately rectified with extra heater and bedcover. Just the overall hospitality would entice us to stay again.

We stayed here to break our journey up from East Midlands to Southampton. Staff where pleasant and food was delicious, however, much more consideration for guessed would have be welcomed. I have a full understanding that staying above a pub for a night will come with its noises…… but not to the extreme that we experienced. Loud music and very noisy customers and staff until 1:30am. Came away, tired, disappointed and wasn’t looking forward to continuing our journey 😡

We stayed at the Tollgate Inn, Holt for one night and everything was fine. There is plenty of parking space and they have a marquee outside on part of the car park so when the weather is nice, which is was when we stayed, you can sit outside in shade.

We were greeted by a pleasant lady and shown to our room, which was in the Annexe, a separate building just across the car park. There are rooms in the main building as well but they were full. The room is a decent size for two people and the bathroom was clean with a good, powerful shower. The bed was comfortable and there was a kettle, coffee and tea, a couple of bottles of water and small fridge with a bottle of milk, a refreshing change to the usual long-life sachets you normally get. It was a very warm day so wanted to leave the window open but as the room was on ground level it would be easy for anyone to climb in so we left valuables in locked in the car.

The Inn itself is nicely decorated and not crowded. We didn't have a meal there because we got back late from an anniversary party. We arrived at 10:27 and the barman said they were closing but was kind enough to get us a drink and we sat outside as it was a warm evening.

Excellent gastro pub with self-contained cottage

This is a lovely spot - on the edge of the lovely village of Holt but out of the bustle of Bradford on Avon just 2 miles away.
We had a fabulous dinner in the restaurant and the outdoor marquee for lunch was perfect. Our stay in the cottage was v. comfortable and quiet - just what we needed. A few plants in the garden would be nice but overall it was great.

I asked for early check in as I had a wedding to go to and they were gladly able to accommodate this, which was extremely helpful for me. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was nice and powerful. I had breakfast included, which consisted of cereal, tea, orange juice and a lovely English breakfast. Staff were friendly and attentive. This was the perfect place to stay, great value and I would definitely recommend it.

The sausages for breakfast were amazing

The parsley room is right above a speaker below. Not the Quietist of rooms while music is played downstairs. Wasn’t an issue for us but if looking for a quiet room don’t have this one and contact them if a problem.

The manager was delightful. Staff and food was fantastic. Would book again just for the breakfast

If I had to pick any fault you have to access your room via a stair case outside which when raining and dark not very pleasant .

Don’t get what you pay for.

Chancer but fair play to him he’s good at it.
Booking states breakfast included but when you arrive he tells you it’s not, due to covid. Every other stay I’ve had during lockdown have managed to sort breakfast out, if sold on that basis. To make matters worse I paid for two breakfast meals as the app dropped during booking and when I restarted at a later date it defaulted to two people. I only ever book for one as I use it for business. He rang to check it was for two and when I explained it was just me I thought he may have charged accordingly but he stuck to the increased cost.
I had a burger and a couple of pints (£24.30 ouch),went up to my room with the intention of settling up on checkout. Everything was locked up at 8.30am but I gave the key to a member of staff waiting in the car park and explained about the previous nights meal. Within no time Delboy was on the blower after his money. I said he needs to inform customers about the breakfast scam and he agreed but kept all the money. I explained I book accommodation with breakfast as I need to take medication the morning with food. Water off a ducks back.

I rarely get scammed but I guess you mark it down to experience when it happens to you. Best avoid this guy.

Avid at all costs

Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. We booked the deluxe room - what a joke that was! The whole place is infested with bugs, found them EVERYWHERE!! On the floor, on our items, on our towels. Could literally hear them crunching under the carpet. Absolutely disgusting! The dinner was a chewy over cooked steak and the breakfast was the most pathetic plate I have ever seen. Took them over 45 minutes to have everything on the plate either overcooked or undercooked.

I booked this short notice and it was very easy to book using the App. On arrival I was expected and welcomed warmly. It seemed very quiet but the bar filled with locals eating and drinking. The room as chilly but this may be because they didn't have much notice of my arrival. The was heating in the room which can be controlled. The bar staff were very attentive and welcoming. The breakfast was very nice. Please be aware that generally there is no breakfast until 08.00 which if you need an early get away is a bit late. But to be fair the staff were there at 07.45 and were happy to serve me a little earlier. I think the £80 price was a little excesive felt mot like a £60 stay.. But would use again.. :-)

Very good but not exceptional.

The room was quite a good size, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. There was a limited dinner menu which was supplemented with 3 specials. The food was good but not exceptional, and I found £3.00 for a very small dish vegetables a bitt OTT. Breakfast was very good. WiFi reception in our room which was situated away from the house. I had to stand by the door to receive 1 or 2 bar signal on 3 different devices.

Once is once to often.

Terrible room. In the attic so constantly bending over.
Pouring with rain and the only way to the room's is up the outside fire escape. It's a joke... £110 for the room which is very excessive for the area.. seriously would NOT recommend.
