Recieved a call 3 days before our stay to say that a wedding was booked and our room was above the function but they could not relocate us as fully booked! I complained and eventually another room was found but it was a downgrade from the exec room with a view that I had paid for! The hotel is very tired but could be amazing as the grounds/view are lovely. At dinner another table were complaining that the steak was not warm luckily our meals were fine. The shower had a small spray which was a bit difficult. Parking was full due to the wedding also.

Be aware the venue's also a wedding venue & wedding guests will take priority over your booking & your room will be downgraded if the management feel the need.
I booked an Executive Suite 2 weeks before my stay which should have been in the main building or Coach House, but 72-48 hours prior I was notified there'd be a wedding disco taking place in the Vendange Suite until 12am & that I may well end up in a room above it, which is exactly what happened.
We entered the room, number 253, at 6pm'ish to hear banging music from downstairs. We were completely disappointed with the room which was small & looked nothing like what I'd seen during booking.
We returned to reception asking to be moved or upgraded and although the staff were nice we were told there was nothing they could do as they were fully booked. They checked if their sister hotel could accommodate us but unfortunately not.
I expressed I'll try to find another hotel. There was no attempt to remedy the situation by reception or the manager who was present.
I then spent 2 hours on and off the phone with Expedia who began negotiations with the hotel. There must have been some misunderstanding as I was called by reception saying if I want a refund then I must vacate the room. I was shocked at this response.
A second attempt with Expedia saw us offered a £25 refund by the hotel, not great.
Small TV, with broken remote that you had to get out of bed to use wha buttons did work. I went downtown for diner to avoid the music.

Poor flow of shower and toilet did not flush properly.
Poor quality bacons and sausages were used at breakfast. Holiday inn breakfast is better.

Lovely setting and an attractive building, but furnishings and details dated and worn (carpets, decor etc). Bathroom window couldn't be opened, nor did it have a curtain or blind (and was overlooked) so felt a bit uncomfortable, though a good size and nice to have a bath.
It was a really warm night and the fan in the room was unique in appearing to work but moving no air at all, so along with a small bed, it wasn't a great night's sleep.
Lady in reception when we arrived was polite but indifferent (could have just caught her on a bad day though!)
All in all a little disappointing although nothing terrible.

We checked in at around 5pm after travelling 400 miles from Glasgow hoping to relax and get ready for a pre wedding function to attend at 6pm. To our utmost disappointment we discovered that our room was not ready. It was in a mess left by the previous guests. When we complained at the reception then duty manger came up and apogised and offered us free drinks until the room was made ready, which we refused. We were short of time and had to use the room as it was to get ready and used our own towels to freshen up and left for the party.

The room was done up nicely when we returned from the party.

Staff were helpful and friendly.

On checkout we complained about our experience and requested a refund for the first night of our stay for the inconvnience. Duty manager did apologise and couldn't offer refund. We were promised that the hospitality manager will contact us. Adding to our disappointment, we haven't heard anything from them until today.

Lovely hotel in beautiful countryside. Room was lovely, no air con but they gave us a good fan.
The television is positioned on the side and as we had a 4 poster it was difficult to watch?!
Carpets are very thin everywhere and could definitely do with being replaced.
Breakfast was ok, good full English but the juice and fruit selection was very poor
WiFi was fast and free on site parking
Good value for money and have booked again for our trip later in the summer

This was my second stay at this hotel and I did notice some changes, some good, some not. My room looked refreshed, but it had no wall decor and seemed unfinished, but immaculately clean. There was nowhere comfortable to sit, but the bed was extremely good to sleep on. The outbuilding in which my room was situated had a large foyer, strangely decorated with two hard chairs and an ironing board. My room heater wouldn't turn on, and the receptionist told me it was centrally controlled and would turn it on. That was fine for the first night, but didn't work on the second. I did not have breakfast on site, but dinner was quite good, as was service and price. In summary, the room price was extraordinarily low and more than compensated for the flaws noted. But I'd rather pay more to have the heat go on.

Clean room, we had dinner there which was nice enough, bit pricey for what it was and the tables were sticky. Not dirty but like they had been in the conservatory too long and the varnish had gone tacky in the sun. Rooms were clean. Faded glamour kind of place, beautiful gardens. We didn’t have breakfast, walked into town.

Fantastic location in a beautiful setting. We went for a weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Service wasn’t the best, I had to go find someone to serve us at the bar when we wanted to have a drink before our evening meal.

There was a door bell to ring to request service at the bar but after ringing it several times, and waiting for a long time I had to eventually go to the main reception desk to request some service.

A member of staff then eventually came to serve us. This member of staff told me they didn’t have what I could clearly see behind the bar, then changed her mind and said they did have it, which we thought was a bit odd.

We had an evening meal in the restaurant and the food was absolutely excellent. The waitress that served the food was very good, it was a lovely warm sunny evening so we asked the same waitress after we’d finished eating if it was ok for to finish our drinks outside on the terrace, she said that was absolutely fine.

However, the same member of staff that had served us at the bar earlier, then ran after us and shouted that we’d forgotten to pay our bill. This was very embarrassing in front of other guests and clearly not the case as we were staying guests at the hotel and had asked the restaurant waitress beforehand.

I’m not sure we’d go back again after this, which is a bit of a shame as it was a beautiful setting and great location.

This is a light and spacious period property. Our superior double rm 26 in the main house was large with a splendid dual aspect view across the valley. Our generous bathroom was refurbished with modern fittings, the only downside being feeble water pressure in the shower.
Buffet breakfast was good quality and hostess Michelle was very friendly and helpful.
Overall it was very relaxing, enjoyable and good value, we were pleased with our choice to stay in the edge of charming Bradford, rather than more cramped and expensive accomm in Bath City.

Beautiful old property but faded grandeur meant it needs a bit of TLC. Our room and bathroom including sheets and towels were very clean but the carpet was stained the radiator was caked in debris and the cupboard needed a clean. The bathroom looked recently updated and was nice. Amazing views from the rear of the hotel. Good parking and convenient for Bradford on Avon and a short journey to Longlete.

The cleanliness of the room was very poor. Both the bedroom and the bathroom had various cobwebs. All of the doors in the room were panel doors and the panel ledges looked like they had never been dusted!

The area that would be behind the entry door when it was open had clearly not been cleaned for months, the carpet and skirting board were thick with dust, this was clearly visible when the door was shut.

The bed was probably the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on.

Would not stay here again.

On the face of it should have been a great 2 day break celebrating a friend's 80th - old mansion, sympathetically restored into a hotel. Our room, whilst not big, was cosy with modern bathroom. The bar spread into a conservatory with leather sofas and chairs, with a lovely view over the countryside. The restaurant was well set out and the staff were pleasant.
BUT..on arrival at 4pm on the Saturday the room was cold - the radiator would not come on and that is how it stayed until we left on Sunday morning! The staff said they would sort it but never did - have us a 3 legged electric fire with minimal heat which had to be leant against wall. Ate there Friday night - both steak pie, crisp top but inevitable 'soggy bottom' mash ok but veg way undercooked.
Saturday morning no hot water to wash or shower - boiler broken down - fixed by evening.
Back from 'do' Saturday night went to bar for nightcap - suddenly at 10.30 we were told to leave the bar and go into conservatory, they were locking up!! - no sign, no warning, no 'last orders' - just 'go'. Nine of us had to move.
Back to bedroom, cold, a standard creaky double bed.
Very disappointing, won't be going back. They need to sort a few things!@

A converted country home of some standing in its heyday . Now repurposed as a hotel

Retaining many of its charming features in the reception area and dining area , with quiet and tasteful decor

Very attentive and helpful staff , prompt, polite and cheerful with no issue being too much trouble

The bedroom conversation in the room we were allocated was a rather unfortunate example of fitting a square peg into the round hole . Whilst generally it seemed to work , the room shape and structure had presented a challenge to the original designer and builder with stud partition walls simply cutting off the ornate plaster friezes of a once much larger and presumably, grand room . A little more investment in the attention to finish could have changed the ambience from functional to impressive. For example, the wc has ended up in such a tight recess as to make its intended function and use an impossibility for anyone of above average proportions

The views from our ground floor windows were stunning and we were able to enjoy the rolling countryside from our ground floor room

We had asked for ground floor due to limited ability to use stairs and this was indeed provided

Facilities in the room are basic and functional with fresh and clean, linen , towels , soaps refreshments placed in the room

More tea , coffee etc available on request

For the price paid , this represents a good deal and a chance to enjoy a few moments of quiet calm within what was once a substantial home

Lovely Hotel set in lovely grounds including a vineyard, great dining area in a well lit conservatory, Room well lit however TV went on the blink with picture breaking up frequently. Nice bathroom, just needs a little attention to make sure shaving light works, blue and red sink tap inserts kept popping out everytime taps were turned on and shower only really got luke warm with not much pressure. nice selection of evening meals and friendly service during the evening meal and breakfast. Food at breakfast was ok but bacon ran out and it took about 15mins to get replenished when I mentioned it to the waitress. I had finished the rest of my food by then and thought it was a little steep at £15 as hash browns and scrambled egg were running really low too. Other than that it was comfortable for a last minute stay over

Stayed for our wedding anniversary.
We were met with a warm welcome by the receptionist, despite our late arrival.
We had a room in the Coach house, which was a short walk (outside) from reception.
The room was clean and well furnished, bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean and the shower decent. The only thing missing was a fridge. The room was very hot, with no air conditioning & only one window, but they did provide us with a fan when we asked at reception.
Breakfast was excellent: staff were friendly and helpful, the buffet was good quality and the conservatory and nice place to enjoy it all in.
The outdoor seating by the bar is a lovely place to relax with a drink, providing a lovely view across the valley.

Lovely hotel but extremely hot due to no air conditioning I also bought my own fan and had this on all night plus I had the last fan at reception.
Room was nice but one side the bed had hardly any room and I hit my let 3 times in the night trying to go to the toilet. Mattress was very uncomfortable you could feel the springs. Slept very badly due to thehot room and awful mattress. Also the window is right next to the bed and due to heat had to keep it open and I did not feel safe in bed in the night as on the ground floor and having the window open due to the heat made me anxious someone could get in.

For me - a little strange

On arrival reception was super-helpful and switched rooms around so that a friend and I could have adjoining rooms. I did find it odd that unless you gave reception a credit card on arrival, you could not put anything on the room bill nor could you pay in cash ..... everything had to be paid for on the spot by card. Our rooms in the coach house were just right for both my friend and me - but perhaps some more sound proofing could be added so that not every footstep from the upper floor practically shook the ground floor rooms.

Second night not so good. Room not serviced but we managed to find someone to get more coffee/milk etc. Went down to dinner early. Mains came quite quickly. There were 2 couples and then a table of 8 arrived. Their order was taken then our dessert order was taken. We were then told by the waitress that there would be at least a half an hour wait for our dessert!!
We found this unacceptable and left the dining room.
It's unbelievable that the chef/kitchen staff couldn't cope with 12 people in the restaurant at the same time and a delay of 30 minutes was acceptable. If the restaurant had been busy we could have been more understanding. It was a special anniversary for my husband and I, so it was really disappointing.

Relaxing trip.

Lovely stay at this well located hotel that is10-15 minutes walk from the centre of Bradford on Avon (which is gorgeous). Nice breakfast and very friendly service especially from the lady on breakfast service. The views from the breakfast room and grounds are stunning.

Loud music after 10:30 and then because of the location of the room noisy trash being dumped before 7 am. Problems with hot water part of the time. No complaints, but not a wow experience either.

Poor Overnight Stay

My wife and I were visiting Bradford on Avon for a one night stay.
The hotel was further away from the Town Centre than we thought regards walking distance.
Our room ( no 45 ) was on the 2nd floor.No lifts were available and the spiral staircase and 2nd staircase were quite steep.
The bedroom was cold ( no radiators were working) but there was a freestanding portable electric heater available.
The bedclothes were cold feeling damp and the room never heated up.The shower was noisy having some sort of pump fitted but there was a strong damp smell in the bathroom itself.
