Restaurant & bar onsite was a welcomed bonus after a looonnngggg day of driving and road construction.
Outside lighting for rooms needed so we could find our room & safely unload. Luckily phones have flashlights.

This is a classic, old north-woods resort. The room was very clean, well equipped with new appliances, furniture, paint and flooring. The scenery is gorgeous and lots of places to hike. There are lots of families with dogs, good parking and Ely has fun things to do. Loved it!

Older gal who checked us in was rude and did not explain where our cabin was, check out instructions, or anything. Location of the resort was amazing. Also the terrain to get to our room was not maintained well and was very tricky and hard to get to get luggage to and from the car to the room.

Beautiful place right on Garden Lake with access to the Boundary Waters! The motel had comfortable beds and a basic kitchen. My son and I borrowed a canoe for the day and had a beautiful, long paddle to BWCA. We also visited the Wolf Center, hiked, and had a great tour of the Poineer Mine. A very peaceful spot to come home to on our vacation— we hope to return!

Nice lake views from rustic cabin.

The location is great, the views of the lake and free access to the dock was fantastic. The staff was very nice and dealt with the few issues we did run into quickly. The cabins have so much potential, but in their current state have rustic church camp vibes. The bathroom was comically ugly. I’d stay here again though. The price was fair and the location and staff were great. But I hope they remodel and make this place the gem I know it could be

The check in person Deb was not a friendly person. Other staff were real friendly. The room was clean, beds comfortable. We booked our stay on line with Hotels.com, with 3 nights in King bed and one night in double bed. When we arrived we ended up with 3 nights in double bed. Deb said it didn’t show the kind of rooms booked through Hotels.com, and the internet doesn’t work so well in that area so I couldn’t pull up my information. The 4th night we got a king room.. the view was pretty of the lake and it was an awesome room. We should have had this for 3 nights not one!! The cleaning staff do an awesome job!!

I stayed in a motel room overlooking the lake prior to a trip into the Boundary Waters. A little nervous at the plain and aging exterior, I was pleasantly surprised with the renovated and very comfortable room. This property has a friendly, traditional resort vibe, with cabins, camper parking and the motel. The bar was still open on a rainy evening and they served my favorite Castle Danger on tap.
I would love to visit this resort again!

There are extra property fees that are added on by silver Rapids Lodge that you are not made aware of through Expedia. The website has inaccurate descriptions of the property and the cabins.. there is no air-conditioning in any of the cabins despite what the website says. They exterior of the property and the dock area is way rundown.

Our sheets were wet/ very damp on the first night and we didn’t discover until it was too late and office closed. Told them in the morning. She said they would contact housekeeping. Went back hours later and the room/bed was not changed.
Then we went back to the office and they handed us a bag of sheets to change ourselves. No apologies or oops, sorry that happened. Put us off. Bathroom door wouldn’t close. No crossbar in the closet to hang clothes. Has potential but could have been better. Cute fridge and microwave though!

Not on profile posts from Expedia, I booked for 6 people stay and they were give me a 1 room for 4 sleep. What a bad experience with silver rapids lodge. Dirty, smelly, no service for towels. I spent $250 a night very? Not recommended bad. Terrible experience with this silver rapids lodge resort.

Fun place on a nice lake

The place was nice. Easy check in. We stayed in the motel part. Room was nice and the deck overlooking the lake was very good. Way went down to the bar and had diner and listened to the live music. It was a quick stay but we may be back with the kids.

Outside of some newer carpet, it didn't look like the place had been updated since the 1960's. NO TV or WIIFI. Lumpy old beds (probably original mattress), Old uncomfortable chairs and sofa/sleeper bed, Worst night of sleep I've had in a long time.

We enjoyed the fire pit a lot. The room was satisfactory, missed having a tv, a little bit. The ceiling tile in the bathroom kept falling down. We would probably stay here again, though. Its a beautiful spot and close to Ely.

Was ok - stayed 2 nights but no breakfast/food despite a restaurant on the property. Had to walk down cement stairs to get to room. Could not enjoy view or open windows due to heavy smokers being outside quite frequently. There are talks about this property being torn down this fall.

There was no hand soap in bathroom or ANY soap for that matter. It was very dusty and odorous. Their website claims amenities that are either non-existent or not working. There is no sauna, no restaurant, no homemade pizzas. It was so bad we did not stay our second night even though we paid for it. My husband is such a grace giving man, he asked me not to say anything to the attendant and simply thank her. So we did. Please update website. This was super disappointing and it could all be remedied. What awesome potential and prime location. I hope my feedback is used constructively.

they advertise Internet, but there is no Internet in the rooms. They should clearly state that. They could easily update the furniture and carpeting in the rooms. Also the steps leading down to the bottom level of the building needs to be replaced for safety reasons.

The pictures of the room showed a stove and full size refrigerator -- the reality is a small refrigerator and no stove. The carpet was peeling up from the floor and we were lucky it wasn't hot out because the air conditioner is missing the control knob. There is no wifi, no TV and no landline in the room. Some of their docks were partially submerged and very difficult to traverse from shore. There are campsites almost right outside the door of the room and no soundproofing -- you can hear everything in the rooms next door and outside. The drop ceiling is in pretty rough shape and virtually zero water pressure in the shower. Will not stay here again.

Beautiful stay. Cabins look like they are straight out of the 1970s which I thought added a nice touch to it. Appliances all worked well and was comfy. Very clean inside, and the area around it was really beautiful. We will most likely be back as we go up north to Minnesota once or more times a year.

I was reserving a cabin not a motel room. When I made my reservation they sent me a picture of the cabin I reserved. When I got there they said oh no they only have a room in the motel. I said that was not what I reserved! I strongly believed that they bumped us to the motel room for a better reservation. That ticked me off. We heard the people upstairs all 3 nights!

Even though we could only stay for a night we really did enjoy it! The area was cozy and very clean! I went down to explore the docks. The docks are in need of repairs or replacement. But i also understand getting to that can be difficult and pricey. I hope they can redo them soon! Otherwise we certainly would LOVE to come again. Maybe bring the kids when they are older also.

Unfortunately the property quality was not what was presented in the booking. The room had visible stains on the floor, no AC, very dated (rusty and broken) appliances. The couch had a piece of plywood to give it stability to sit on. Not that it’s necessary, but disclose it, there was no TV in the room either.

We stayed on a rainy weekend and left the property early. Very uncomfortable.

Another great stay at Silver Rapids

I have been coming to Silver Rapids my whole life. My stay in one of the motel suites was perfect, except for the coffee pot, which was very old and did not look safe--I told them about it upon departure and they said it would be replaced immediately, and I had brought my own instant coffee so it wasn't an issue during my stay.

I love the rustic nature of the resort, nothing more than the necessities. I could stand on my balcony and watch the water while I brushed my teeth, or just sit on my sofa and enjoy the stillness of the woods. I always enjoy going for walks around the property, through the gravel pit around back, where this time, I ran into a deer! Not literally, of course, but I turned a corner and there it was, just twenty yards away. A dream of mine, come true. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the resort is just my idea of perfection, really.

The lodge and staff were great. There was two issues with the cabin we stayed. First one I’m sure there is not much can be done with but it seems the septic tank might been right next to the cabin so let’s just say was not the best smell in the air at times right out side of the cabin. Second issue was the drain in the bathtub was barely working so when taking a shower there was about 2 inches of standing dirty water. Was going to to advise the staff on our check out which was at 9am but no one was at the lodge at 9am and had to use their key drop. Aside from those issues, was a nice place to visit and stay at. Fishing off the one dock was actually pretty good. Caught bass walleye and northerns. Would stay here again but would want a different cabin then cabin 7 the pines.

Hey, it’s a little run down, but it’s clean and everything works. The bed and bedding were great and it was one of my most comfortable sleeps in any hotel or resort. I had a lovely view and didn’t want to leave. I’m picky and wouldn’t have chosen it if there were more options this week, but this was a very good experience and I will be looking to book here again for sure.

From past reviews not being so good. I was so glad I went and found out for myself. As it was perfect for what I was looking for, for a mini vacation. It looked to me as if there were a lot of updates that had been done! Quiet and cozy. I just don't recommend being there at fishing opener!!

We arrived in the dark and had to leave early in the morning so really didn't get to see much of the property. Arriving in the dark was...dark! Lighting around property was limited it seemed. We had lot of stuff to unload from our truck and our room was in the back. We used the access road in back as there was no instruction on map as to how to get to the back. There was no lighting at back of building or on stairs going up to our room which also didn't have any lighting at the door. Luckily we had flashlights. Bed was comfy but the overall look of the place was that it needed a bit of sprucing up. Freezer door in fridge was broken. Cabinet door wouldn't close due to panel above it was broken also and had slid down. Top of stove fan needed cleaning. Just lots of little things that if taken care of would make a huge difference in appearance. But not bad place to stay for a night

The photos and room booked in line was not what was received. Light didn’t work pathway to room was dark. Beds were uninviting. Ceiling looked like it was about to fall in. Room was not worth the rental price.
