The hotel was well situated in relation to the Porta Susa train station which was important to us. However upon arrival we found our first challenge, a steep staircase, my wife being on two crutches and myself struggling with the size and weight of our cases. The very helpful receptionist, Firas, brought our baggage up to the lobby and subsequently up a second small flight of stairs between the elevator and the room.
The room itself was comfortable, spacious with plenty of storage although at the time of day we arrived was not very light, we discovered shutters half down and a balcony, however as there was a thunderstorm we didn’t make use of that. There were plenty of electrical outlets although nearly all of them were the Italian Type J Europlugs rather than the more common circular Type C. The TV showed only Italian Digital Terrestrial channels as far as I searched, nothing on demand or other languages. We got a good night’s sleep despite the thunder as the shutter gave soundproofing.
The in-room safe appeared to malfunction.Reception arranged to unlock it and we decided not to chance it a second time.

My wife usually irons clothing when we arrive. We were a bit taken aback that there was no option to borrow an ironing board and iron, but the ever helpful reception gave us access to an ironing room instead.

We enjoyed breakfast on day 1 but received too few of the items I had ordered to take with us for breakfast on day 2 as we departed before restaurant opening time.

This was a very comfortable small hotel, conveniently located, with extremely helpful staff and a hot breakfast buffet. The rooms are comfortable and warmly decorated and it's an easy walk to restaurants, cafes and a local outdoor market.

Terrible service – unresponsive to guests

We stayed at this hotel in early June with my wife and two kids. Our Torino train was late, which caused us to miss our train to Rome. Knowing we wouldn’t make our connection I booked this hotel at 10:52 PM to ensure we would have a place to sleep. When we arrived to Torino near midnight, TrenItalia said they had arrange for a hotel room for us at this same hotel, which meant we had two reservations. When we arrived at the hotel the front desk person said our hotels.com reservation was non-refundable (true) and that he could not provide a full or partial refund. He suggested I call the manager the next day.
When I called the next day, the manager wasn’t available so the hotel suggested I send an email and they would respond later in the day. I sent the email but received NO response. I called two days later and once again the manager was busy and couldn’t come to the phone. They said they would respond to my email that day, but once again didn't. After my third call 2 days later I was still unable to reach the manager, but I got an email response. The response was dismissive and said they could not issue a refund because they had held the room for me. The room was only booked from 11 PM to midnight (when I cancelled), and no one else was coming at that point. I sent a response to the hotel, and after more than a week have not heard back.

While I think I should get at least a partial refund, that’s not the main point. The staff is rude and unresponsive to customers. Beware.

Friendly and smart hotel nar the station

This was opposite the station, over the pedestrian crossing. The room was well furnished, with good lightning, and very smart. The main room had a door, then a small corridor leading to the bathroom, then another door to the hotel passageway, which kept out any hotel noise. Curtains blocked unwanted light. WiFi was good. There was a safe and fridge. It was easy to walk into the city centre, or there are trams and buses. There are food outlets nearby. Staff were friendly and efficient. There is a lift, although there are some steps to the front door, if that matters to you

The hotel was perfect for a night's kip between trains to/from Porta Susa: convenient, very comfortable and well equipped. The only drawback was having to lug suitcases up the steps to reception; the man sitting next to the receptionist looked as though he was there to help, but he didn't.

Good location handy for Porta Susa

The hotel is old which gives it a certain charm. The staff are absolutely excellent and very helpful. Breakfast superb. Rooms are large and comfortable - the only gremlins are those that others comment on, no kettle (an English thing) and the road noise can be quite invasive until you get used to it. The hotel is about a 20 min walk to the centre of Turin and a few more mins to the Palace. Overall great location to visit Turin.

Very good hotel, great location, ±20 min from Torino airport, and just nearby Torino Porta Susa station (Train, Metro and nearby bus and tram lines), some good sites and restaurants just walking around. The hotel is very clean. spacious rooms, helpful staff, good breakfast (buffet), and highly recommended for families and/or business (close to OGR Innovation center and other business locations).

A little gem of a hotel next to Torino Susa Station. Has a restaurant serving local cuisine but we opted for the great Sushi place two doors down. Large spacious room and bed in a historical setting. We were very pleased. Also has a garden but don't sit in it from early evening as the mosquitos are vicious

Fantastic Value and Location Near Porta Susa

This is a fantastic hotel especially for the phenomenal and low price. It's just a few steps from Porta Susa-so if you've taken either the train from somewhere or the bus from the airport you have only a couple of blocks to roll your luggage. Staff is friendly and professional. They are totally fine with early check-in if your room is ready. IF not you can leave your luggage and get some suggestions and a map from them for where to go for lunch or coffee, etc. You have a clean comfortable room with a desk for work, WiFi and a great buffet breakfast in the morning with all different options (so regardless of allergies you will find something) including meats, cheeses, fruits, yogurts, cereals, pastries, boiled eggs, coffee, etc. I stayed in a different hotel the week before in Turin and paid 30% more for much less.
You have about a 25 minute walk to the center-so this is not the hotel you choose if you want to be super centrally located-but it's great if you only have a night or two and want to get to your hotel very quickly from the airport or Porta Susa stations. Plus there is a great gelateria next door and plenty of dining options relatively nearby (including a gluten free pizzeria that is a 10 minute walk called Dolcelia). I wish I'd stayed here both of my incoming and outgoing nights in Turin

Self serve coffee machine & everything other than the boiled eggs comes out of a tin or a packet. Very ordinary & not worth getting up for. Great corner bakery cafe nearby is worth a visit for good espresso, freshly baked pastries & focaccia. Also La Romana Gelati had delicious gelati & sweet treats.

No air con and one fan didn't do the job as it was very hot - difficulty with latecheck in as Expedia hadn't sent booking and my phone battery had died - the receptionist sent us away saying no rooms available yet my account had been deducted for payment - I was in tears was close to midnight with 2 young kids and the man was quite rude - as I was leaving waiting for lift he called me back saying he found the booking - a few minutes later and I'd have gone and wasted my money and would have had to look for a hotel elsewhere late at night in a city. This is not good. And not good he was so unhelpful I was sobbing my eyes out. Also he kept passports overnight which is not usual practice - other than that hotel itself is ok and very central

My mother and I needed a room with twin beds near Porta Susa station. Hotel Residence is only a few steps from the station in a nice neighbourhood. Friendly, helpful staff and a large, clean, quiet room. Perfect for what we needed. And only 20 minute walk to the main historic centre. It was very reasonably priced for a hotel that felt like a 4 star experience.

You can walk 15 minutes to main stores and piazza where you can visit beautiful churches and monuments...restaurants are to die for and many pizza places so bring a appetite for the best pizza by far...there are espresso bars and bakeries everywhere you walk and next to hotel there is a gelato store which is awesome! The staff was helpful, spoke English and helped with directions and anything I needed... breakfast was included and was great.. Good value for price was paid...

Strange to rate a Hotel on bath towels but we had stayed in Europe for three weeks and this was our last night. we had 5 trains and 12hrs. of travel before arriving at this hotel. Most of the B&B's had ok to poor bath towels and to take a really hot shower and dry off with a large soft towel is wonderful. oh, the rest of the hotel was worth the price.

We stayed here as it was close to the train station and we had an early train to catch. Staff were helpful and printed out tickets for us when we were unable to collect them from the station. We walked to the centre of Turin, about 30 minutes, although there were a few restaurants near the hotel. The rooms were clean, although a little dated....

We had an OK stay here. We hadn't realised quite how far out of the city centre the hotel is, so it was a bit of a trek to get close to the tourist sights and good restaurants - it's probably more of a business hotel than one for tourists. The room was clean, but a little dated and the air conditioning turned off overnight and we couldn't switch it back on, which made things a little uncomfortable.

Good Hotel, Would Stay there again

Myself & my Father and 2 children were travelling around mainland Europe and stayed at this hotel for 1 night enroute to Milan. The area before we arrived had graffiti and looked run down however as we got closer to the hotel it was very pleasant and only a 20 min walk from Turin square, adjacent to the hotel was a ice cream bar, which served the best gelato I have every tasted!
The hotel was very clean and the room was amazing, the wooden floor in the room was very unique and in keep with the building. The beds were very comfortable and we slept like babies. As we drove we had a car and there was a charge of 15 euros to park in front of the hotel, this was something that should have been free given what we paid for the room (there were 4 of us). The breakfast was very nice and filling but there was only one person in the restaurant to greet the guests and re-fill the breakfast bar. The receptionist that dealt with us “Paola” was a credit to the hotel she was friendly, greeted you with a smile and no tasks was too big or small to help. We initially booked the room for 3 people but ended up with an extra body, Paola assisted us in getting a bigger room for a nominal cost.
This hotel gets a thumbs up I would definitely stay here again!

We stopped overnight en route to Venice on the train. Location was good, because we could walk easily to large pedestrian shopping street and a local restaurant 3 minutes walk away was fantastic - L'Oca Fola. In the morning, breakfast was relatively simple, but easy walk to station. Staff at hotel were very friendly. A good overnight stop which we would use again

Hi, This hotel is located at 100m from the Porto Susa Torino Train station so it's very convenient if you use this way of travelling. Hotel room was large, clean and calm. Receptionist very nice also, kept my bagages during my meetings and kind to talk in english with me. I would recommend this hotel for anyone. Wifi was also good in my room. Breakfast is taken in the shop just near the hotel, no need to go out to reach it, there is a door between hotel and the shop. Basic but more than enough.

Nice way to finish a vacation

We had just completed a 15 day vacation in Italy and Turin was our return flight city. We were returning to the city via train so the hotel was very conveniently located to Porta Susa. Hotel very clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was excellent. A nice fifteen minute walk to the restaurant district. Easy bus connection to the airport. Hotel had a problem with their Wi-Fi when we arrived, but was fixed by the end of the evening. Would stay there again.

Right above Porta Susa station...and clean!

We had an overnight stop here during our train trip to Sicily and again on the return journey. For TGV/Frecciarossa transfers this hotel is perfect as both high-speed trains stop at Porta Susa station and the hotel is just up the steps from the platforms, which are underground. On both visits, the rooms we had were spacious with modern bathrooms, hard floors and a mix of old and new furniture; functional, comfortable and exceptionally clean. Breakfast was pretty good with a lot to choose from, it was all self-service with no cooked options, but included in the price. The staff were very friendly, efficient and welcoming and spoke good English. Many Italian hotels charge extra for wi-fi but here it's free. To be honest, if I were staying in Turino for a few nights or more, I'd probably find something a little more luxurious but as a stopover/short stay this hotel is just the business!

Unfriendly welcoming

There is nothing worse than arriving after a long journey to get an unpleasant welcoming. This has happened at the Hotel Residence Torino Centro. My PA booked a single room for me and a colleague and, in the booking form under “notes”, had asked whether it was possible to get a single room with larger bed if available. At my arrival, the lady at the reception informed me that we were both upgraded to a double room, with an extra fee of €30 each! I explained that I was not aware of any additional fee and that this should have been communicated to us in advance. They said that they had no way to contact us (which is not true because I clearly saw the contact number provided by my PA in the copy of the reservation form at the hotel). When I asked to be allocated to a standard single as in the original booking, the receptionist got very difficult to the point that I mention the possibility to write a negative comment in this review. She said that she did not care and that she would have had her say for any complaints. I must admit that this lady later apologised for her behaviour but she was still very defensive, which I personally find extremely unprofessional. I should not spend my time writing negative reviews. I should simply get the best standard when I pay for hotel accommodation. The room did not have any curtains (not even curtain rails) or shutters so I had to be relocated to a different room. Parking is almost non-existent and we had to park at a different hotel.

Lovely hotel and better than a 3 star. Would recommend. Felt that the price was very inflated, however, due to the peak season (clashed with a majot event in the city) and I don't think it was worth what I paid. However I did enjoy my stay and would consider it again, but only if the price was lower.

This hotel was very disappointing. It looked far more modern in the photos than is person, more so than any hotel I've ever encountered. The rooms felt like they were part of an old convent. Desk clerks were rude and unaccommodating. The wireless internet connection was so weak and slow I couldn't even load most pages. All the hallways were poorly lit. The worst part was that everything stunk, especially the rooms, like a sewer. It was so unbearable I sacrificed what I paid for the 2nd night just to get out of there and stay somewhere else. Don't stay here!

Location was fine but away from center. Bus was convenient however. Room was very noisy as we heard every sound from street.

Bath room was a nice size but shower was very small.

Parking was very nice in front of hotel and only 10€ a day. However customers from nearby ice cream shop frequently took our space and we had to sear h them out to move.

Queit, clean and large modern room, a very enjoyable breakfast which brought me back for dinner and it was a delicious choice, best meal I enjoyed in Torino - try him at night too. Thanks too for the free internet in room. PS this is across from the back entrance to the Porta Susa Train Station so convenient especially when arriving in the rain - not 30 meters from the hotel door!

This is a great find in down town Turin for the rates we paid. According to the front desk reception the hotel was completely renovated and opened in the Spring 2010. The rooms are big and modern with a fully equipped kitchennette and small breakfast table. The bathrooms are modern. Everything was very clean. While the location may seem a little out of the way it's steps away from the Porta Suza train station and only 5 minutes walk from the west end of the main pedestrian mall Via Garibaldi. Parking is on the street in front of the hotel so you have to buy a parking ticket at one of the sidewalk ticket dispensers. There's a significant railway tunnel construction project underway between the hotel and centre town so it's not the most scenic neighborhood but there are cafes and restaurants within steps of the front door. We've booked the hotel for a second stop over.

포르타 수사 역에서 가까운 전략적 위치와 깨끗한 숙소

전형적인 이탈리아 호텔. 시설이 아주 깨끗하고 매일 침구 정리, 수건 교체. 입구에서 프론트 올라오는 계단 5~6개 올라와야 하는 것 말고는 단점이 없음
조식도 전형적인 이탈리아 아침 메뉴(빵, 커피, 요구르트)에 스크램블드에그와 치즈, 햄, 과일로 구색은 맞췄다. 머신 커피 말고 직원에게 요청하면 직접 내려준 커피를 주는데 역시 커피의 도시 토리노라 그런지 아주 맛있다. 굳이 바에 가서 아침 안 사먹어도 됨
위치가 포르타 수사 역에서 아주 가깝고, 말펜사 공항 버스 정류장과도 가깝다 (공항버스 타는 곳 포르타 수사 역 바로 옆에 있음)
호텔 바로 옆에 젤라또집 로마나는 문 여는 순간 부타 밤 늦게까지 사람이 어찌나 많은지 ...
코르소 잉길테라가 큰 길이라 차가 많이 다녀서 큰길 쪽 방은 소음이 좀 있지만 귀마개 끼면 조용하고 아주 푹 잘 수 있음
방도 넓은 편이고 청결하고 위치 좋고 심지어 가격도 저렴해서 이미 2년 연속 이 호텔에 숙박했고 토리노 다시 가도 여기서 묵을 것이드.

Helt ok hotell för priset.
Ligger centralt, tar 15 min att gå till city center. Tåg stationen som tar dig till och från flygplatsen för en billig peng ligger precis utanför. Tar bara några minuter att gå till hotellet därifrån.
Stort rum med ok standard, fransk balkong.
Frukosten ok men enkel men finns allt man behöver.
Personalen otroligt vänlig både i receptionen o frukosten.
Överlag allt OK och rekommenderas om man vill ha ett billigt och bra hotell med bra läge.

Hotel bastante céntrico

El hotel es bastante antiguo, aunque en general está muy bien. Hay unos escalones en la entrada que dificultan subir con maletas, aunque luego hay ascensor. Las habitaciones son espaciosaa, aunque sólo hay mesita de noche en uno de los dos lados de la cama. Tuve peoblemas con la toma de corriente del baño, que no funcionaba. De hecho las tomas son antiguas, y creo que deberían de sustituirlas por tomas modernas.
El bufete del restaurante muy bien, ninguna queja.

The description mentioned that parking was available, but we had to pay €20 a day for it! We booked this hotel because we believed parking to be included. They should have been clear in their description that parking was available “for a lot of money”.
