I cannot say enough of this small jewel in Xalapa. Great boutique hotel . Great staff! Safe area to walk and exercise. Amazing food! Just one minor drawback is the pillows, a little bit too hard for my taste, but don’t forget to ask for a change. This is not a hotel for people with wheelchairs, since there is a lot of steps.

Place was terrible. They had recently fumigated it. I realized this when I saw all the drawers, etc. were open. They admitted to it when I mentioned how badly it smelled. I should have asked to move rooms but it was too late in the night before I realized what I was smelling. If this weren’t bad enough, there was no hot water, poor internet connectivity, and a lot of noise. Pool was dirty and nothing like the photos. No A/c, either.
Breakfast was decent, however. At least there was that.

The hotel was beautiful! The restaurant had amazing food, the service was great and everyone was friendly. I had a room close to the stadium/main street above the pool with a patio overlooking all the action. The street noise was loud. I acquired ear plugs and had no issues. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in this hotel while visiting for our parents' 50th wedding anniversary, and chose it due to the location. We could not have been more pleased. The property was clean, the room was comfortable, the bed was great, the staff (reception, restaurant, bar, housekeeping, everyone) was great. We even loved the kitty who is a mainstay at the property. Good value for the money. Would stay again - only wish it were warm enough to use the pool which looked very inviting. Thanks for a great stay!

This is a beautiful, unique setting for this boutique. The housekeeper, and workers are wonderful. I was not very happy with the receptionist at the front desk, she seemed aloof and unapproachable. We asked for two additional pillows and were told they did not have extra pillows (by the person at the front desk). It seemed like we were bothering.

My partner and I stayed at Colombe Hotel for almost a month and we enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were exceptional and friendly, the food was delicious and at a decent price (with free fresh breakfast everyday until 10AM!), and we had a nice room with a comfortable bed. For those who love to swim, there is also a nice pool area with seating and shared space available as well. Overall, we loved our stay at Colombe Hotel and we will definitely be coming back!

It is a 60s70s art decor building which would’ve been great during its time, however it is now tired and rundown. The most disappointing aspect was that it was filthy which should’ve been easily rectified but no one seemed to care. The room was dirty, hotel was dirty. I asked for it to be cleaned again and the housekeeper just ran a dry cloth round the room. The inside of the fridge was black with dirt, I ran a tissue through it and it was black. I got a wet tissue and wiped the top of the drawers, the tissue was brown with dirt. Lady at reception just went ‘oh it’s the wind’ - what, inside the fridge? The plastic coffee maker was filthy- I had to clean the dirt around the button, didn’t even bother looking inside. I cleaned the fridge in the end. Curtain was also mouldy and the room had a slight musty smell. We stayed in one of the terrace rooms downstairs. The external areas looked like they hadn’t been swept or tidied for years, wouldn’t recommend the pool, it was murky and dirty and so was the surrounding area - most likely a health hazard. The air con packed up whilst we were there and the safe never worked! There are a lot of stairs at the hotel aswell. There is not much in xalapa in itself and is also not as clean as the rest of Mexico. I am not sure why or how this hotel got such a good rating in the past. I touched the tiles in the bathroom and it was just dust. Shower power was pathetic too. Bed linen on top looked unwashed and the bin had rubbish in it.

I liked the hotel. It’s smaller then the pictures look like. The first room they gave us was literally underneath the restaurant, so you can hear everything. We asked to change rooms and the gave us a room which was much quieter. I think the price should be much cheaper then the rates the charge in my opinion. Overall it is a nice hotel but I will not stay there again.

The property is centrally located and gorgeous. The Administration is poor. You can expect good treatment from staff but not from the Administrator. We had a noise problem with the room we were staying. The Administrator made me regurgitate the entire problem that was already conveyed to her by hotel staff. She did not once apoligize for the inconvenience we had. She played games when it came to giving us a room transfer.

The staff couldn't been better, they were very polite and pront on their service. Is a beautiful hotel, just the room itself needed some retouching. If I were to point something else is the lack of menu in the room and the lack of mentioning ingridients in the food that people might not eat (pork). I had to say this so they can improve in those little things to keep this boutique hotel a place to keep coming back when visiting Xalapa.

Loved the look, feel and comfort of this hotel. Very euro style. Beautiful rooms with nice touches for comfort. Solid wifi. Lots of willing and charming staff, but a few glitches during my stay. During my dinner, I ordered dessert but it took a very long time to make (in an empty restaurant). Finally I needed to head back to my room and pack (5am call to leave the next day) so I asked them to forget about dessert, and it was okay to charge me for it. This started a whole to do from the staff, with folks swooping down on me and asking what was wrong, to explain everything, and finally after I paid, and left a tip, they came by my room and gave me a new bill and the tip back. I mentioned that I wanted to tip my waiter, who really did do a very good job, but they would not allow it. This was weird. Apparently the manager had ordered them to do this, so I had no choice either? This is not correct customer service. If I wanted to leave the tip, I should have been allowed to leave the tip. They are looking at things a bit to hard and backward. Also, when I checked out (which was quite early), the fellow checking me out said he had to go \"check the room\". So he left the front desk and was gone for ten minutes \"checking the room\". Weird experience. Do they do this for everyone? It makes you feel like you are a thief or something. Definitely not something you want them to do when you are checking out. So, a mixed review for this hotel.

A beautiful hotel with friendly staff, everyone at Colombe is always ready to attend to any request that you may have. All of the furnishings are stylish and comfortable; the food is excellent; and the pool is great as well. The only thing that was a bit off is that all of the rooms have Jacuzzi tubs, but they are not connected and used only as bathtubs (says so in the laminated guest card in the nightstand). One other thing to be aware of is that the hotel is built into a cliff and has a stunning multi-level open architecture with lots of glass and light. It's spectacular, but not at all a wheelchair friendly environment.

Do not pass this place up!

This was the best Mexican hotel we've stayed at out of more than 15 this past year. Great ambiance, very comfortable king bed, clean room, excellent staff and service, lovely outdoor bar seating, tasty breakfast, gigantic bathtub (#301)...everything was impeccable. We didn't fall in love with the city, but the hotel might draw us back. We felt like we got a truely awesome bargain.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a 4 night stay at the charming Colombe Hotel Boutique when traveling to Xalapa for a wedding. The hotel itself was clean and had a pleasantly unique design. Our room was small but accomodating and included a king size bed and balcony. Since our room was located very close to the reception area and maybe the kitchen (or so it seemed), it did get somewhat loud in the morning. The location of the hotel was great; it was far enough from the chaos of downtown Xalapa, but within walking distance of the hotel. The staff at the hotel were very quite helpful and very polite. Our room was thoroughly cleaned 2x a day; once in the morning and once in the evening. There was a complementary breakfast menu for each morning of our stay, however, should you ask for a dish or drink that is not on the \"American Breakfast\" menu, you will be charged. The American Breakfast menu included: Coffee OR Orange juice OR a cup of fruit AND Pancakes OR Huevos y frijoles con toast. There is a restaurant and bar in the hotel, but we chose to eat at local restaurants and vendors around Xalapa (which is a must! The food is amazing). There is a championship track and field located across the street that is open from the hours of 6am to 10pm, but no gym in the hotel. The pool looks like it's never been used so we stayed clear of it. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay at this hotel again should we ever visit Xalapa.

The hotel is built on a hill side and has plenty of staircases. No elevators. The common space are nice and comfortable. No heating so it can be quite chilly. It would have been great to lit a fire in the cheminey located in the bar area.

Service above and beyond the call of duty

My wife and I live in Mexico City and Santa Monica California and travel extensively.
We discovered this wonderful Boutique hotel in Xalapa in Oct. Everyone was delightful and really went out of their way to make us feel at home. When we first arrived we asked for a different room and in a blink we were in another room...
The restaurant is wonderful with a large menu and their room service is also fantastic.

But the greatest thing about this hotel is the staff and the owners….The staff and owners aided us when my wife became ill from, we believe, oysters we had in Vera Cruz. At 10:00 pm we requested a doctor to come and administer medication and an intravenous drip due to loss of fluids. The Dr. came and stayed till 2:00 am…during that time the owners and the staff were attentive and alert and could not have been more helpful.
Excellent.
If you are traveling to Xalapa we highly recommend this wonderful hotel

The hotel in general is very good, high quality, nice looking, clean, comfortable. It+s definitely worth the price. The location is weird because its kind of hidden but its still close to the center. The people from the hotel was nice and helpful. Theres just a few details that would make it a little uncomfortable but does not make the stay awful; the phone shower didnt stay on its place, the hot water ran out very quickly, the bedhead made noises when moved, the pillows were not veeery comfortable but besides from that everything was great and enjoyable.

Close to the University of Vera Cruz and a pleasant 1 mile walk to el centro. The restaurant and bar are good but there are lots of better options a few blocks away. All the employees were very nice and the room was comfortable with a nice view. The hot water went out a couple of times but the staff responded to the issue promptly.

We were driving from Puebla and arrived around dark. The hotel was difficult to find without GPS since Xalapa is built on and around hills and has spread over the years. On arrival we were met nicely and helped to our room. We only spent one night, and there were few if any other guests. It was a Sunday night, and the hotel restaurant was closed at 5:00 PM. The water in the bathroom was warm but not hot enough for a shower or bath in the evening. The next morning brought hot water. The bed was very comfortable and provided amenities were good. The staff was helpful and friendly. The layout of the hotel is interesting but not particularly suited for anyone with problems walking and climbing stairs. We would stay at the Colombe Hotel again.

Gorgeous hotel in Xalapa

This is a lovely hotel set on a hillside overlooking the stadium. The rooms are large and comfortable and the restaurant and pool have fantastic views towards the mountains. I think the hotel is fairly new as of August 2012 as they seemed to be having some teething troubles with the electronic room keys (hence the 4/5 for maintenance) but the staff were quick to respond and extremely apologetic. A delightful hotel - I would definitely stay there again.

Desde que entras a la propiedad huele muy mal, entre comida y casa vieja.
Un olor muy desagradable. Me recordó a esas casas viejas llenas de humedad.
Me tocó la habitación que da a la alberca y muy desagradable tener que entrar por la venta, pues no tiene puertas.
El hotel pudiera ser muy bonito si estuviera bien cuidado.
Las camas muy duras, pero lo peor fue que me quité los zapatos para acostarme y los pies se me ensuciaron terrible de que no estaba limpia.
Fue una experiencia muy mala, no me quedaron ganas ni de bañarme en el hotel.

El hotel es muy lindo en concepto boutique. Pero esta es la segunda vez que me hospedo con ellos y las habitaciones tienen muchas areas de oportunidad en cuanto mantenimiento y limpieza. El hotel es viejo y es evidente la falta de mantenimiento en algunas areas, los blancos estan muy muy viejos, asi como las almohadas de muy mala calidad. Muchas fallas en conexiones y TV en las suites. Ojala puedan invertir en una renovacion. Ya que es Urgente en las habitaciones. Tambien el olor a humedad es muy fuerte en ciertas areas.

Se adaptaron a nuestras necesidades en alimentos, lo que se agradece bastante. Amplia variedad y la carne es deliciosa. La cama es muy cómoda, pero la habitación no estaba tan limpia y el closet tiene olor a humedad.
En recepción nunca contestaron cuando les marcamos, y su reglamento es muy raro (aunque no vimos en que momento lo aplican) . Si ensucias la ropa de cama o la toalla te cobran desde $300, pero una toalla estaba manchada, y la otra rota cuando nos entregaron la habitación!

Me hospede yo solo, fueron mis hijos pequeños de visita, de 8, 11 y 15 años que viven en esta ciudad. Era una suite grande con mesa para 4 una sala y mucho espacio, les puse una pelicula y a los 40 minutos me hablan de la recepción que los niños no podian permanecer en la habitacion que era una indicacion de la supervisora del hotel. Salgo y pido hablar con la supervisora y me indican que no es posible que esta comiendo. Me tuve que ir de ahí y me lleve a mis hijos a otra parte fuera del hotel. Mis hijos preguntaban; ¿papá por que nos corrieron? Ya habia llegado a este hotel en dos ocasiones antes, pero el mal trato definitivamente me hace no recomendarlo. Ese mismo dia por la noche hable personalmente con la supervisora y me dijo que estaba en las reglas del hotel, le pedi que me mostrara ese reglamento. Realmente es la primera vez que esto me sucede. En cualquier hotel puede uno recibir un rato razonable amistades o familiares. Siempre y cuando no se queden a dormir mas personas que las que estan registradas.

El hotel estaba bien, en realidad es uno de los más bonitos de Xalapa, sin embargo pues ya es un hotel con un poquito de descuido, como que valdría la pena que hicieran una renovación de los pisos de madera de la habitación, porque ya están viejos Y si uno camina descalzo se sienten pegajosos por la capa de laca que le han aplicado a través del tiempo, en realidad el hotel está bien, pero que se quedó congelado en el tiempo unos 20 años. la atención del personal es muy buena, los meseros atienden de forma extraordinaria. no es un menú tan excelente sin embargo está razonable. la ubicación del Hotel no es muy buena para salir a caminar ya que está un poquito retirado de lugares o atracciones turísticas ya que tomar un taxi y como lo mencionaba se quedó congelado en el tiempo porque para hacer el check out hay que llevar los controles remotos de la televisión y el aparato de cable le dan a uno llave física de esas de metal y además le llaman a la persona de limpieza para ver si nos falta algo en la habitación eso es un poquito incómodo

Todo en general excelente, la decoración del lugar está hermosa, mucha tranquilidad, el restaurante muy sabroso. El desayuno era incluido en la estancia, muy sustancioso y sabroso, con varias opciones de desayuno, el personal muy amable.
Cuando nos fuimos, olvidamos una kindel en la habitación y la camarera lo reporto y nos llamaron para que la fuéramos a recoger. Muy agradecidos por su honestidad.

No hay elevadores. Para llegar a la habitación hay más de 40 escaleras. A la alberca otras 30 más. Una tv en sala de estar no tenía internet y solo canales x antena externa. Papel de baño en lugar incómodo. En la habitación buena señal de internet para la pequeña tv. Recámara cómoda pero aire acondicionado está directo a la cama. Desayuno gratis muy bueno. Exterior del hotel algo descuidado.

El hotel es muy agradable y bien ubicado a distancia caminable de la universidad; su restaurante es excelente con una variada carta y una muy buena atención.

Todo muy bien, excepto que tiene muchas escaleras para ir a cualquier lado del hotel. Nuestra habitación quedaba tres pisos abajo del acceso al hotel, lo que resultó muy incómodo, ya que no tiene elevador.
No recibimos apoyo del personal para atender este inconveniente

Era una convención de cuentos de personas y aunque llegamos antes unos, nos hicieron esperar para el trámite hasta la hora del check inn cuando pudieron adelantar y solo dejarnos entrar a las 3 pm.

No había un orden de filas para reservacion en grupo y para personales, estuve 30 min formada en una fila que no era hasta que pregunte a 2 recepcionista que estaban platicando y ya me dijeron era ahí las individuales pero que hasta las 3, me quede ahí a un lado para no estorbar pero creando una fila, después llega un grupo de señoras y hace su propia fila, les comento que yo estaba primero y las de recepción les dan la razón a ella ignorando ya tenía yo rato esperando ahí al lado de ellas cuando incluso lo había nadie, no había fila, yo era la fila.

Estuvimos 4 días, desde el día 1pedimos plancha y que nos avisaban si se desocupa a una y nada, si reciben convenciones deberían tener mínimo 1 plancha para cada 2 recamaras, igual el día uno informamos no servía el clima y mandaron a 3 de mantenimiento de todos los turnos según apea arreglarlo y no uno pudo, ya la última noche a media noche nos dicen que nos cambiaban de habitación cuando nosotros salíamos 8 am del hotel, fue una burla eso.

Es un hotel grande con una alberca pequeña para temporadas altas, solo cabe 1/3 de la ocupación.

Espero tomen en cuenta lo comentario por qie los precios que tienen es para un mejor servicio.

El hotel es muy bonito y cómodo. Lo único que recomiendo es que le pongan calefacción a la alberca, el agua es helada y por ello no la usé.

Atención excelente; personal suficiente, profesional y amable; las instalaciones con excelente mantenimiento y la comida del restaurante muy rica y a buen precio.

La ubicación excelente, se llega caminando al centro de la ciudad caminando.

Excelente opción para conocer Xalapa, de turismo o trabajo.
