Good overall, my room had no plug in for my phone to charge. The tea kettle was broken, so I couldn’t make tea in the evening and morning.
The place looked run down overall. I liked their massage service and gym!

I quarantined in this hotel and found it to be well-run and well organized. The dining room, gym and lounge are all acceptable, the hotel is partnered with the Hadero coffee chain (= great coffee), there is jazz every Thursday evening, and the staff members were always friendly, polite and attentive. They also took pandemic precautions seriously. Although we were not always able to communicate, an effective workaround was always found. The Jupiter offers one of the best combinations of price and quality in the city, and I plan to stay again when I return to Addis. You should too.

Pick up at airport was great. Great check in. The manager gave us as a little pack of local coffee grain as a wecolme gift. We ordered dinner and it was tasty. Paid about $15 for two very good meals (excludes starter, dessert or drinks). As most things here the property is not new but is well kept so would recommend for short stays.

If nothing else, go for the Piano and Jazz night!

The place is by far the cleanest and always improving interms of amenities relative to the price a guest pay. They have a great and attentive restaurant manager (Mr. Desalegn) who always ensures the guest are fairly treated with attention. I think everyone agrees getting attentive service in Ethiopia is not on par with other international hotels; you'd have to wait several minutes before a server takes your order or brings water or napkin to your table. If Mr. Desalegn passes your table, he always greets and asks if the table needs anything else (Big Thank You!). Another wonderful staff to add the list is Meron, she is truly a great individual that made each visit to the restaurant pleasant. Very attentive, courteous, and very professional.

The shuttle chaufers, the security staff, and the doorman create a welcoming environment for hotel guests and facilitate their arrival or departure. I think the best impression about a place is made at the door.

I really liked this place, in fact so much so that I stayed three times and at one point made it my month long extended stay. However, it took one stay and a misunderstanding with the front desk staff to sour my experience. The lesson learned from the experience is booking directly presents a better experience than booking through other mediums. The frontdesk staff could have dealt with the misunderstanding but I suppose they had to deal with it as trained.

I went into a couple of short trips in Ethiopia and Jupiter reception was very very helpful with check in and check out, room changes and offering free shuttle service to the airport.

Better than a mega hotel chain

Jupiter International Hotel goes above and beyond the big mega chain hotels. They provided direct, individualized attention to each of their guests while making each room as comfortable as what would be expected for a large name brand hotel while at a fraction of the cost. The breakfast buffet and restaurant selections were great and very affordable. The location was very easy to get around to many areas of Addis and the staff were incredibly helpful in finding us taxis. My group will definitely be staying here again when we return to Addis later this year.

Best Staff in Addis

The staff here make all the difference in the world. Reception took care of me when I showed up early and even though the hotel was full they got me into a room as soon as one came available and even upgraded me. The restaurant and bar staff are also very friendly and always remember your name. The cleaning staff does a great job and I've often left out attractive items without any concerns at all. The gym is new and very well equipped and there is also a sauna and spa. I always stay here when I'm in town for work and I know I never have to worry about anything.

The staff were incredibly friendly, the room impeccable and the bed really soft. The restaurant was average, but they have a diverse menu. The bed was ridiculously comfortable, and my room was much larger than expected (and I don't think I got an upgrade). Very reliable wifi. Make sure to hit the gift store, because gifts at the airport were literally 3x the price at the hotel.

I stayed one night here on a quick trip to Addis. In many ways it was flawless. The staff were kind and attentive but not gushingly subservient like some places. Breakfast was nice and on par with many of the nicer hotels in Addis. The price for a single room was lower than a lot of places in the area, and the room met expectations. The fitness room is super decent and seemed to be open 24 hours. I talked to the concierge about banks and money transfers, but he seemed a bit confused. The other guests were more diverse than other places I've stayed, and seemed to attract the middle class from all over the world. Also if you get bored you can saunter next door to the somewhat overpriced Radisson Blu and hang out at their nicer bar and outdoor sitting area.

Unfair treatment of guest

I booked 5 nights with this hotel through Expedia. Due to travel delays, I missed one night which I expected to be charged for. When I arrived the second night, they advised they cancelled my reservation for the rest of the week which I had already paid for. They said I could stay that night I arrived but then I would have to leave next morning. This wasn't sufficient for me - I wanted a hotel I could stay at for the remaining 4 nights instead of rushing around Addis to find a new place the next day. After seeing the room, I decided not to stay there because the halls were run down and the room smelled. Their gym was also lousy. Mistake to reserve with this hotel - after a lot of back and forth with Expedia, I got a refund except they still charged me for the first and second nights (when I actually only stayed in the room for 15 minutes before leaving after arriving second night. I never stayed overnight there). I think this was unreasonable keeping in mind the fact they cancelled my reservation I had booked for five nights. A charge for the first night I missed was reasonable, but not the second (since they had cancelled my reservation for the remaining nights which was an inconvenience). There was an AUC conference that week so I suspect I got kicked out because they could get a higher price for the room. Anyways - many better newer hotels to stay at in Addis at same or lower prices.

It's a very good hotel; food and booze cheap by international standards, great fitness suite with lovely relaxing massage for 350 birr, big rooms with the only complaint being that the mattress is a bit soft and the covers a bit hot. Acceptable standard in a good location for downtown Addis. Unfortunately it looks older and shabbier than the international chain alternatives nearby (or adjacent) which are available at similar prices; rooms on one side are effectively windowless - a single narrow foot-wide gap looking onto a brick wall a couple of feet away - and on higher floors water supply is erratic. I stayed in two different rooms and both were similar.

This is a good play

The Jupiter is a great hotel for its price. The food is decent (I would even say tasty), service is great, and the rooms are comfortable. The wifi is reliable and for hotel guests the sauna, steam room, and gym are available free of charge. The neighborhood is fine but there isn't much to do. However the hotel will work with you to find a driver to get where you need to go. If you need to stay in Addis for more than a few days I recommend this hotel for its comfort. If you're in Addis to sight see then I would still recommend staying at this hotel but just know there isn't too much nearby. The hotel commitment to service makes up for the location.

Always a decent stay!

Good hotel with decent food. Stick to the Ethiopian part of the menu for the best grub... when in rome and all that. Always a good place to stay. Ive stayed in others in Addis but I think Jupiter is probably the best ive stayed. The location is also spot on - nice and quiet when in your room but still nice and central in town. There is a shisha bar round the corner which is perfect for me after a flight. Oh, and the internet is decent, and free!

Tip: Choose a room not on the 4th floor. You'll get a better/ more modern bathroom!
