The hotel is nice overall, but it's showing its age. The furniture is old and cracked. The bathroom fixtures are worn down, and the shower isn't working properly. Even though it’s a Sheraton Luxury Collection hotel, almost everything feels dated and no longer meets today’s standards.

Amazing place!

Simply an amazing stay for our honeymoon. Extremely welcoming, attentive and friendly staff. The property, ambience and amenities are outstanding, and the food was great both in quality and variety/options. We stayed for one night only, as we had a 24h stopover in Addis. We definitely would want to come back!

This is he best hotel in Addis Ababa. It’s located in the heart of city so most of the major attractions are just a few minutes away by car. The breakfast buffet experience is second to none - I felt like royalty. The price is expensive but I recommend anyone who can afford it to stay at this hotel at least once in their life.

I did my reservation through Expedia. At check-in the receptionist forgot to take the deposit. I thought that it was made automatically when I did my reservation online. I then decided to have my breakfast. A lady asked about my room number. Everything was fine so far, until I signed the check. The waiter told me that I didn’t have any credit at the hotel. I wasn’t sure about what was happening. I told him that I already checked in. He looked at me and went to talk to his superior. Since that moment all the staff was looking at me as if I did something wrong. All eyes were on me as if I was about to escape, and for what? A plain breakfast of less than 30 USD.! At the moment I was leaving, the same lady who asked about my room number, took the phone and called one of the waiters. He immediately came running after me. He said Mum something is wrong, and that I should follow him to the reception. I never felt so humiliated in my life. I went to the reception and the receptionist apologized and asked for my credit card and proceeded with the deposit. The waiter was still standing there as if he was escorting a thief.

Later on I went for a walk inside the hotel and passed by the pool and when I tried to enter the pool, someone from the hotel told me that I have to pay to get inside!!!!. He was so rude that I didn’t even have time to explain that I was a guest.
The management has to review the staff behavior, except for the receptionists who were very nice and helpful.

The best hotel with awesome customer service

Firstly I want to say thank you to all the staff i interacted with especially the front desk staff Zelalem and Nebiyu for making this an awesome stay for my dad and me.

The hotel was comfortable and clean. There are a couple of bars/restaurants on the premises that are modern with a relaxed ambiance. Great parking area. The view on site was great to just walk around with your loved one. The customer service was the best I have seen (I have visited multiple hotels in different countries) which adds to the Sheraton Addis being the best hotel I have ever stayed at.

If you are in Addis for Business or pleasure you have to stay here for at least one night to experience the view, great breakfast, and to wind down for a bit from the hustle and bustle. I will definitely return during my visits to Addis.

We are young Ethiopian couples from U.S.A , we went back home for a week vacation. We only stayed here one night. Apparently if you talk to the stuff in Amharic, you will be treated like crap. They only respect other nationals staying there. We were told checkout time differently. We were told the pole is not free because they assumed we don’t have a room. They assume without asking. Please give your front desk people more diversity treating. We expect more from big hotel like this.

I do think however is that becoming too classic and needs some new decors, but nonetheless its a remarkable hotel

The Sheraton is easily the nicest hotel I’ve ever staid in, and I saved a bit of money by eating their happy hour for dinner. The hotel was quiet and comfortable, and the service great. It’s close to the airport, but you’ll otherwise need taxis to get around. The grounds are filled with flowers, and there’s an amazing jogging path on property, as well as a pool and a playground for the kiddos. Foodwise, I have some questions, as myself and several other people came down with food poisoning during our conference. Of all the places to get food poisoning, however, this was by far the comfiest.

Really good hotel with a large complex including pools, play area, running course, gym and spa area. There are a couple of shops on the ground floor for souvenirs and booking tours. Staff were very friend and helpful. There is a security check at the entrance and also scanners before entering the hotel. I was travelling for work and my hand tools were not allowed on the hotel. This was slightly unusual but understandable.

This is the best service - picture getting a pot of coffee free every morning with a simple call - and this arrives so quickly that both coffee and milk still hot.
The gardens are a fantastic relaxing oasis from the rest of Addis Ababa

My fiancee and I checked into the hotel Friday morning and for the most part had a pleasant stay, however there were some issues that have been left unresolved as explained below.

We were shocked however to discover on Sunday morning when we returned from breakfast, THE ROOM WAS ONLY PARTIALLY CLEANED with both bedside tables partially extended and in between the bed and one of the tables were TWO USED CONDOMS with wrappers exposed and left fully visible. My fiancee discovered this and immediately notified housekeeping who came upstairs and could offer no answer as to what had happened, why the room was only partially cleaned with furniture in disarray, why there were used condoms in the room for at least the past few days (these were not ours) and most importantly why when they were discovered were they simply left \"as-is\" and fully exposed for us to come back to. When we informed the hotel manager of this incident you assured us we would be contacted back by the hotel General Manager Anthony White with a resolution following a \"complete investigation\" and have not heard back from anyone regarding this.

We did not feel any sense of urgency from the Sheraton management regarding this issue and due to the lack of responsiveness by the management, we decided to leave Sheraton and stay at the new Marriott Executive Apartments Addis Ababa for the remained of our trip and we were very pleased with our stay

Lovely hotel - great people.

We really enjoyed our stay. Staff were all well-trained and helpful. We are UK citizens, but have Ethiopian friends. It was great to be able to host friends for breakfast and dinner in a lovely atmosphere. Our young friends loved the live music in the Office bar. The swimming area is being renovated, which means that guests will have a great facility there. Addis is a good place to explore and the Sheraton is very well sited. Keep up the good work everyone!

I fell and sprained my ankle. All the staff that I interacted with were attentive and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble. The thermal jacuzzi really helped it. I did think that the food was overpriced and not commensurate with the price.

Amazing! It makes you forget your in Africa

Flying into Africa is always a drag but I am actually going to start looking forward to my pit stop in Addis from now on. It was great service and a wonderful hotel. The only issue I had was I was told I had free breakfast when I checked in but when I checked out that was not the case and ended up paying for two breakfast buffets. Communication is key in the service industry and hopefully that can improve over the years.

My fear with hotels this big and fancy is that they know their reputation and tend to skim on service, professionalism. The hotel was more remote than i thought. While I had hoped to walk about the area before I arrived, it was clear that wouldn't be smart. While some staff were very nice, others were quite rude. I would normally write it off if it were one or two, but it happened one too many times for my liking. The doors slam, but don't lock unless forced, so my door was left open by me and by staff a few times. I noticed after the first day and became aware. If I am in Addis again, it would probably be at another hotel.

Relaxing in the middle of bustling city

Well the Sheraton Addis is a nice place but the hospitality is poor according to the rate that I did pay, additionally the desk service would no bet polite, I did face three people given direction about my credit card because they did not have enough paper roll for the receipt , I did talk with the manager about that situation . The food at the restaurant close the swimming pool area should improve .

Stayed at the Sheraton Addis on Xmas Eve, a special occasion after traveling around Ethiopia. This is a fantastic hotel with unparalleled quality compared to anywhere else in country. Given, the rates are very high and probably a bit overpriced as would pay half this for same quality in US or Europe. But was nice occasion for us, and were able hotels.com rewards voucher, and were happy with our decision. The room was large and comfortable with lightning-fast internet (yes, this is included now in room rate) and large TV. Nice large patio overlooking the back fountain. Staff were attentive. Pool is fabulous. Several restaurants to choose from, we found very adequate as did not want to leave hotel (we had already spent several nights exploring the city). Location is convenient with effortless and free airport shuttle.

Incongruous to the rest of the surrounding

At first glances, a beautiful building; floor to ceiling marble. Looks fantastic!
Go to the room & it's identical to many 5* hotels you will see in many country's of the world, just double the price for a night you would pay anywhere else for a night!!!
Then you have the bathrobes with holes in & towels that are ragged at the edges.
Food is ok, no complaints at all. BUT, ok is the best I can say, & it's vastly over priced ( like the room rate) for what you would expect elsewhere in the world.
I am assuming that, because of the hotels location (close to government, AU, UN, other international organisation HQ's, etc) that the exorbitant rates will be picked up by governments, & that is the reason for it. Travellers will go elsewhere!
The staff are fantastic. You will not meet a friendly, professional staff anywhere!

I was disapointed since staying at the consierge lounge floor, service was really bad and slow. I would expect better and too many guests were complaining. Some guests even left since no tables were cleaned and cleared. This is not how you treat your guests paying for extra service. I will seriously considering staying at another hotel.

The staff responded promptly to every single request I made, literally within minutes. You get the real quality for the money you pay. It's by far the best hotel in Addis. The party is awesome on saturday night at the hotel club. Literally the finest people in town come there on week ends.
