We stayed in a family room at the Dial in late January 2026. We found the room plenty big enough for us (a couple + one adult). The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was particularity nice with a large soaking tub. The hostess was very nice and helpful. We reserved the breakfast rate, and the breakfast was excellent. We would stay again.

The Dial House is the perfect place to stay in the Cotswolds. The town of Bourton-On-Water, is centrally located to so many villages. The Dial House is perfectly placed in Bourton. We stayed in a deluxe double and everything was wonderful. The shower took a bit of getting used to, but that was not a problem. The staff was perfect and the head man Scott could not have been nicer, more professional or more helpful. Great beds, good storage, good wi-fi and wonderful parking. I cannot recommend this hotel any more highly than I am. Wonderful and beyond our expectations. We didn’t do breakfast but our friends did and they raved about it. Look no further.

Overall pictures online is not what we received, rooms were very small, right next to the bar so was alot of noise, mould on sealent around bathroom, marks on walls and marks on carpet, then the expense of it all, the rooms are not worth the price we paid for them and no breakfast included in price either and price they charge is way overpriced. We paid £10 for a pot of tea which is shocking especially seeing as we were staying with them like at least give us a discount. Then £21.50 we was told breakfast was even though online I read it was £23 but either way again way overpriced when we went to another hotel up the road and paid £15 and got an amazing breakfast including drinks and cooked food and buffet. We wouldn't return. The only positive really is the free parking they have and the staff were all very nice and seemed helpful. But just feel it's abit of a tourist trap and they know they can over charge because they have good parking facilities and in a good location.

Incredible location in a super cute historical building. Charm to spare. While the room size was really small, it was manageable. The inexcusable thing was the cheap, hard, and painful mattress. I’m so happy we only were staying one night or I would have needed a full body massage.

Nice property and perfect location. Very good food, though a bit expensive. Owners were very nice. Parking easy and accessible. We would have love to stay in the main house; not on the side appartments. Did no enjoy arriving at 21hs (still daylight) and finding the place dark and closed. We had to phone called to have a person drive to the hotel and check us in while waiting outside. Room was very nice and convenient. Also comfortable, though the smaller room had a smell to it.

This is the perfect location to explore Burton-on-the-Water as you are right in the center of town. Check-in was easy and so was parking. The staff are very friendly and the gentleman that makes the drinks has a great sense of humor.
Our room was large and the bed was comfortable although the location of our room was very noisy as it is right where all the deliveries occur for the hotel so we could hear vans driving on the gravel and opening doors during the night (Room 10). I would stay here again but would request not to be in this room as our friends were upstairs and said it was quiet.

What can we say from booking this hotel to the end of our visit, we have found everyone has been very quick with responses to queries leading up to visiting, on arrival every member of staff has been very friendly and helpful, the location of the hotel is ideal, just set back enough from the busy street. Our room was super (we had the garden room) lots of room and then to finish it off a nice private garden space to sit in (nice weather did help), we had breakfast included in our stay which was lovely, the black pudding was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. We also had a lunch & a dinner- every dish we had was very nicely presented and was very tasty, quality ingredients used. I’d book this hotel for hubby’s 60th & definitely felt he was rather spoilt.

I liked almost everything about this property, it was walkable so the location was great, the food was excellent and so were the cocktails, the staff was friendly and professional and it had a great charm to it. Some of the things that weren't so great that can definitely be improved upon are: 1. The amount of staffing present, the Dial House is beautiful but it could do with more front desk staff (the front desk staff checks in people, and walks them to their rooms, and takes food orders in the main building and brings the food out and manages the bill; it's alot for them to do. With that said, it's not manageable for them, for example, we asked if the front desk can kindly call a car for us to take us to the nearby train station (Moreton-in-Marsh railway station that's 15 minutes away) and they were so busy that they handed us a list to make the call for ourselves, I'm sorry but that is just unacceptable, we paid almost 300 pounds per night to stay there and expected better front desk service, the staff was very kind about not having the time to assist which we appreciated and so we had to call ourselves but it was stressful because we were worried we wouldn't be able to find someone since all of the numbers on the list the staff gave us was booked. So instead of enjoying our time, we had to try to figure out bus schedules and potential Uber advance bookings which led us to checking out very early, way pass our check-out time. Note we only spent 2 nights at the Dial House

The property is right in the heart of Bourton on the Water. I loved the hotels proximity to the other villages in the North Cotswolds. I stayed in the family room which was 2 bedrooms and one bath, which was great for 2 teenagers and 2 adults, loved the space and privacy. Breakfast was also great. There is onsite parking which was convenient for this popular destination.

It's a cozy hotel where lots of people congregate to have a good time, so expect during the weekends that there will be noise (music, laughter, increasing in intensity as people drink more) late at night. This is because the rooms are close to the bar and fireplace area (I'd suggest the hotel to have a quiet time starting at 10pm or 11pm at most). However, during weekdays it was perfect and we had a good rest.
Loved the location, walk out and you are in the core of beautiful Burton to enjoy the town , shops and dining options around.

Supposed to have a quiet policy in place but this didn’t matter to the family above and ruined our second nights stay at this place. Tiny room. Couldn’t swing a cat. Tiny shower closet. No space for luggage. Overwhelming smell of air freshener, triggered my wife’s asthma. No service to speak of. Staff went home at 6pm and left guests to fend for themselves. No food anvail in evening although receptionist did recommend an excellent Italian restaurant. Eyesore of a rundown tepee in the garden totally not in keeping with the rest of this pretty village.
On the plus side, a lovely building, central location, nicely maintained. The breakfast was very well cooked and waitresses have amusing Del Boy posh accent imitations.
Overall, the smallest room I’ve stayed in for a very long time plus the lack of service and high price charged lead to 3/5 at best. I wouldn’t return.

Location was fantastic. Located in the heart of Bourton-on-the-water, near a pharmacy, supermarket, restaurants and right by the River Windrush. We stayed at the Oscar Room which has a great view of the town and the river. Bourton-on-the-water was also a larger town with more amenities. The other town to consider staying in is Stow-on-the-wold. There are other nice little towns in Cotswold but will have to drive out to get anything else. Overall, thank you for the lovely stay. Service was excellent with friendly staff.

Only criticism we had was that the room and the bathroom were very small. A larger person would have had trouble being able to fit on the loo or in the shower. Also we would have liked two chairs in our room as we stayed for two days and it would have been much more comfortable to watch the Olympics not from our bed. Sitting up on the bed wasn’t very comfortable. We realise the room was too small for two chairs but we thought we had paid for more comfortable room than it turned out to be.

Lovely old building, tastefully updated to serve as a good hotel. Excellent kitchen; both dinner and breakfast were tasty, imaginative and well served. Parking was tight but manageable. Despite numerous posted warnings in the bathroom about \"VERY hot water\" and \"Towel rail will be HOT\", the towel rail stayed cold throughout our stay and the basin water ran no more than warm. The shower was good, though, with plenty of hot water and pressure although it was very cramped for space. We still enjoyed our stay very much; this is a lovely property, very central, within easy walking distance of everything yet far enough from the main road for traffic noise not to register.

A reasonably priced property that is quaint and central to the village. The room was tiny and smelled musty, especially the bathroom. There were also big cobwebs above the wardrobe. It was fine for one night and we had an excellent breakfast. If I was staying longer than one night I would pay for a better room. The communal rooms were lovely. We were able to keep the car in the car park for a few hours after checking out which was much appreciated. The staff was friendly, kind and helpful.

The room was pleasant, but the staff of Karl (Manager), always smiling and welcoming Kai, for his amazing cocktail knowledge and presentation, and Annie and Olivia were all amazing and eager to please. Maxi garden tent was super and loved it’s decoration. Breakfast was incredible and well portioned, so all in all nothing whatsoever to fault! The town was very busy, but lovely and the Dial house being set back from the main road was very well placed!

Great location but overpriced

You can’t fault the location. However, it was definitely not worth the money (we paid £160 for one night with a blue light discount code). The bathroom was particularly grim with dirt. The bedroom was sweltering hot (in March) but you couldn’t open the window as it was ground floor and it felt unsafe to leave it open. Maxi’s was aesthetically pleasing however it certainly gives London food/drink prices a run for its money! Can’t say we’d recommend or return. Feels like it should cost around £50/£80 a night.

Situated in lovely location. We had room in attic for which the water tank was above which you could hear during night. The television on wall didn’t work so a large one was put on table where tea and coffee was put but no room to make drinks as television took up whole table. Paint work needed touching up. We really enjoyed our stay at the Dial House. From check in to check out, everything runs smoothly and the staff are all very friendly.

Hand sanitizer at the entrance, and mask on, we feel very safe there.

Great value, charming hotel with a nice breakfast...
was let down by a mouldy bathroom in our room at least (simple mould spray would have fixed it) but otherwise comfortable stay.

Most amazing stay at The Dial House. Accommodations were beyond what I expected , staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and location of hotel was amazing! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to have a quaint, lovely Cotswald experience. I hope to go back one day!

We stayed for one night in the coach house in room number 9.
Everything about our stay was excellent. Fantastic location and really good attention to detail in everything from the toiletries in the bathroom to the French butter at breakfast. Breakfast was very good and the breakfast rooms were wonderful.
I would not hesitate to stay here again on our next visit.

Staff were very friendly and efficient. Our room was spacious, clean and well appointed and the building itself was lovely. Good breakfast and looking forward to when the potential new owners reopen the restaurant for evening meals
