For £196 a night, the room is really small. Don’t expect to sleep till after 11pm as the music is too loud. Not very good experience won’t be recommending or booking again.

Beds and Pillows are fantastic. Staff are great. They even remember my favourite room. There is an issue with being provided milk in the room. Sometimes it has been missing so have to go down to the restaurant night before to get some (they have no fridge in the room so you can’t keep it fresh) and one time they left the have used bottle from the previous guest. It’s the only thing that lets them down

It is a charming and a gorgeous place to stay in the center of the little town. The restaurant is awesome with a beautiful outdoor area for cocktails and drinks. The rooms are so cute and well appointed and decorated. This is the an amazing English inn. The front desk is so friendly and super helpful. The restaurant is cozy with tons of character and great food.

This was a last min booking for us when we decided to leave our previous accommodations early (2 hours away) because they were awful. The staff here were excellent. Very very friendly. Check in and check out were very simple. Parking was a little tricky as we didn't realize at first that parking was in the rear and when we went, it was full. We only went to the restaurant once and ordered the pizza, which was delicious. Best toppings I think we've had on a pizza in a long time. Room was cute - very nicely decorated. Bathroom was nice and the shower pressure was strong.

A fabulous overnight stay. Enjoyed the Summer sunny evening vibes in the lovely beer garden with an excellent pint of Brakspear Gold. Dinner in the restaurant was very good as was breakfast the following morning. Would definitely stay again

Our family stayed here our last night in the UK, and it was a beautiful place to end our trip! The location is perfect for walking around Stow-on-the-Wold, we were able to park behind the Inn, and the food at the restaurant was very good! The rooms are so comfortable and cute. FYI there isn't an elevator, so be prepared!

A wonderful place to stay in the Cotswolds

The Sheep is outstanding and Stow-in-the-Wold is a treasure.

Staff are friendly and helpful, going above and beyond in providing information for your Cotswolds visit.

The entire place - rooms and restaurant - have just been completely refurbished as of 2025. It's simply gorgeous with modern comforts while maintaining the character of its 17th century origin.

The restaurant is excellent. Be sure to make dinner reservations as it is very popular with local folks as well as visitors.

However, our room (14B) was incredibly smelly. It smelt damp and there are visible signs of damp in the room.

The TV had no signal so we looked at the TV and the dust and dirt behind the TV was unacceptable.

There is paint peeling off the walls above the bed, tired furniture and big horrible tea and coffee stains all over the carpet.

I appreciate that we stayed over a Bank Holiday Weekend but I don't believe the room was worth the price.

The room reeked and needs some TLC.

Nice friendly helpful staff, but they could do with some more, had to find them sometimes.
Had a drain smell that they tried to sort, with some success, were very willing to try.
Don't expect to have dinner in the restaurant if you haven't booked, they do not keep tables for the residents!

If you want quaint and full of history, this is the place. Stuff was great. Room was super tiny but that was expected. Walls and floors were crooked and on numerous occasions I tripped going into the bathroom because the floor slanted badly.
Wouldn’t stay again because of that.

Lovely Inn in Stow - room was in need of a bit of TLC (bath panels broken, dripping tap, light not working, cobwebs around the window) and a small/‘snug’ room BUT had all that was needed for a one night stay. Comfy bed and fresh towels - warm bathroom. Plus fantastic breakfast which was v good value for money. Parking is very handy although short on spaces. Staff were friendly and polite.

I really enjoyed my stay at Sheep on Sheep Street in Stow on the Wild. The hotel is conveniently located near the main square with plenty of dining and shopping options. The room was clean and quiet. Check in process was easy and efficient and the staff were friendly. I was able to find on street parking thing that I was there, and therefore did not use the hotel parking lot, but was informed by the staff during check-in that I could, if needed.
Due to the gypsy horse fair that was in town while we were there, the dining room was closed for lunch and dinner, we were able to have breakfast at the restaurant across the street on the first morning, and at the hotel on the second. Breakfast was delicious both days.
I would recommend staying at Sheep on Sheep Street if you are staying in Stow on the Wold.

My fillet steak dinner and service for Xmas Day was fantastic, my husbands Turkey dinner was mediocre, he was very disappointed. The room was boiling hot hence the low score for eco friendly. although a dog friendly hotel, which we didn't mind, i think the dog rooms should be separate from other non dog people as we had what seemed to be a dog each side of us which was barking whenever we moved in or near our room, bedroom window had a faulty handle, and the bath wasn't 100% clean, and the toilet flush was poor. we were in room 21. we were a bit surprised that there was a £20 enforced service charge on the meal, as we'd paid £200 for it, even though we would have left a decent tip, we weren't asked first - but in fairness it may have been in the Ts&Cs

No help was offered to help take luggage up two flights of curved stairs. No wardrobe, no drawers. Hairdryer had to be requested. Tissues stuffed into gaps in wall. Bathroom in need of updating. Toilet stained. Carpet frayed. When we couldn’t find the hotel, no one either reception nor bar answered our telephone calls. Definitely not worth our money.

When we arrived at the hotel, staff couldn't of been more friendly, very welcoming and informative, rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. If you are staying at the weekend and wish to eat at the hotel don't leave until you check in, we checked in at 2.45 slightly before time and was only because reception said to book asap we asked and they only had 6pm or 8.15pm which shows how popular the restaurant is and didn't disappoint. Also if you arrive at checkin time at thw weekend you may not be able to park in car park as very small however left it a few hours and was able to park.
Rooms are beautiful we had one downfall that there was a water pipe above our bed so you could hear the running water from the room upstairs but after mentioning this to reception we were able to move rooms. Was a lovely weekend would definitely recommend to anyone.

Positives: free parking, which is at the rear. Staff were lovely, friendly, efficient. The bar area and restaurant are beautiful and the service great. The bed was very comfy and the entire hotel was spotless.
Negatives: the room felt cramped for space, there was very little storage (4 coat hangers, 2 hooks on the wall, 2 tiny drawers - we had to use the window seat to lay our clothes on), the walls are pretty thin so you could hear next door’s tv / snoring. If you get a room on the front the road is very busy and noisy from 6.30am through to late evening. If you are a light sleeper, definitely try to get a room at the back.

We stayed for two nights in early August in a premier room (20)
The bed was one of the best we have slept on, the shower was powerful and easy to use. Because of the restrictions we were given a bag of teas, coffees and bathroom bits instead of in the room.
We enjoyed our stay because of the whole ambience of the place, the breakfasts were good, evening meals really worth trying, little touches made it stand out from the ordinary.
The room could have been made more of, colourful pictures on the wall and the bathroom was bland but it was all very comfortable which is what is important after all. Great staff made our stay welcoming. I would go back
