We had a delightful stay right in the heart of the Cotswolds. There was a small hiccup on arrival as we didn’t initially receive the check-in codes, but we were able to resolve it. If you’re travelling internationally, it’s worth having a phone available to call for urgent assistance just in case.

Once checked in, we carried our bags upstairs, noting there is no lift, but it was manageable. The room itself was cosy and warm, perfect for the cooler evenings, and the bed was very comfortable, making for a great night’s sleep. The private bathroom was also clean and pleasant.

The instructions provided for the location and parking were very accurate. We parked safely overnight on Sheep Street close to the accommodation, then moved the car to the 72-hour car park near Tesco, which was about an 8-minute walk away.

Overall, a comfortable and well-located stay with clear guidance that made getting around easy.

Room was very small and claustrophobic, heating on full and a window that was extremely difficult to open, very stuffy. Bathroom had a sloping ceiling with a shower head over the taps, making it impossible to use the shower without sitting in the bath. We are in our 60's.

We only stayed one night in room one. Room was clean, staff was polite. Only con is we were on the ground floor so we heard all the other guests come in and out some were loud and coming in all hours of the night. Also the room was towards the busy street so we heard cars until about 1 am in morning. Wifi wasn’t very strong but not a big deal.

The Toilet does not have a antislip mat for the bath tub, it's so dangerous, i actually fell because the glass is movable, there isnt any holding bar to hold to get out of the bath tube, my 78yo mom almost fell because of that. Terrible.

My Mom and I stayed here while exploring the Cotswolds. Stow was the perfect jumping point to see lots of places. Our accommodations were comfortable, quaint, and easy to get to. They were very responsive to our questions too. Loved to bathtub!

A wonderful find and stay. Perfect location in the heart of Stow it is the ideal place to spend a night or two. A large comfortable ground floor room with a roll top bath, high ceilings, tv mounted into the bed and even a decanter of sherry to enjoy a toast.

These type of properties really don't need a 4 star rating. It's a 3 star sub par accommodation. The photos look much nicer than the room is in real life. We stayed in room 5. There is no towel rack as shown in the photo. Location is good.

Fantastic location. The room was lovely. Thin walls did mean we could hear anything that was happening in the landing and some inconsiderate guests were yelling up and down the stairs one night when they returned home very late.

The rooms were amazing! We were concerned about the appearance of the building, but the inside was beautiful! Our room was bright and roomy, clean, safe and very quiet. The owners were very good about communicating in advance with us about getting into the building and finding our room. We did not have a car so cannot address the parking situation, but it didn't appear to be a problem in the village. Everything was nearby and easy to find within a 10 minute walk. We highly recommend The Victoria House, and would stay definitely stay there again.

Area is lovely, room was quaint but very loud both from the streets and people staying in rooms next to us. We had the private bathroom. Take note that it is a bath with a shower nozzle not an actual shower present. Room was very small. Also other than that the area is nice. Helpful tip for the area, make sure you book reservations for any restaurants days prior to staying or you will not find a place to eat nor will they have a waitlist or cancellation list. We wish we knew the seriousness of this in advance.

The property is conveniently located in the center of town surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops, the co-op. This is a good central location to see the Cotswold area.

No lift, spiral stairs are a little hard with heavy suitcases. Only tub under angled roof, no shower, or shared bath.

Lovely but very hot at night

Lovely place, unstaffed but easy access. Only issue was it was very hot even with a fan on a day that was 20 degrees C outside, so would be unbearable in the height of summer. Fan was in the room, but didn’t do much. Open windows wouldn’t have helped due to road noise.

Room 3 with the bath in the bedroom is lovely and everything you need for your stay is put out for you in the room. There is no reception so you are given a key code for both the outer door and room door. The only problem we had was the road noise as this went on until past midnight. Stow has a lot of through traffic Other than that a very pleasant stay

Good but could be cleaner.

Great location, free 72hr car park only a 10 min walk away. Lots of lovely nearby tea rooms and shops. Handy to have a shared fridge so we could buy our own food.

Room could have been cleaner. We kept finding lots of dark hairs everywhere, and we are both fair. Our room only had a bath, and the hot tap and jug provided to wash with was dirty. There was a big black stain on the duvet cover (looked like ink or something). We turned this the other way so we didn’t have it near us when sleeping, but it didn’t fill us with confidence that everything was clean.
Rooms weren’t very soundproof into the hallway either. We heard neighbours coming and going, slamming doors and talking clearly outside in communal areas.

We enjoyed our stay, but aspects could definitely be improved.

Victoria house has a great location in Stow on the Wold. My room (6) was on the top floor. It was a superior room which was beautifully decorated and had a practical en-suite. My room overlooked the front of the property and had a great view but the road was very noisy outside even at night. I had a lovely stay.

Cute and Quaint Getaway

The room was lovely and the little local touches were delightful and made us feel very at home and also part of the village at the same time. Our only complaint was that the wifi was spotty at best, and our TV was broken. I contacted the hotel and they appeared to have tried to fix the problem while we were out the second day, but were apparently unable to solve it. Overall a good value for the money, though. Just don’t plan on in-room entertainment.

Outside noise is a problem.

The room is lovely. The bed was very comfortable and luxurious. The let down was the shower and noise. The shower is rubbish. There is nothing luxurious about that. The water trickles out and the base of the shower was very slippy. My feet kept slipping in there which worried me in case i fell. The other issue was the noise from outside. This kept me awake most of the night because the road is extremely busy. You feel like cars are driving through the room. Also when people walk past the window and are talking, you can hear everything they say. If you want a restful night, Room 1 isnt for you. Parking was also a pain. I wont book anywhere without parking again.

We had a 1 night stay. Compact but nice room. Very clean. Cute decor. The bottle of sherry was a sweet touch, though we aren't sherry drinkers. We had no problem parking. Good communication from host. Close to Stow center. We have stayed in a few places within Stow the last few years and we will definitely consider staying here again. There are 2 points i would highlight. The hall lighting is motion activated and could be seen under the door so i had to place a towel along the bottom. While using the shower you will need to ensure that the door is closed properly as we almost flooded the bathroom.

Beautiful room! Great service!

Our room with ensuite was beautiful! It was very clean and spacious. I loved the wooden shutters and the claw foot tub.
The staff were kind to let us check in early as the room had already been vacated and cleaned. Also, they were gracious to let us keep our bags stowed away after check in for a short bit so we could enjoy more of the town before we moved on to the next location.

Victoria House was in a great location. Right in the centre of Stow on the Wold. Checking in is very easy, you get sent access codes for all areas.
Bedrooms 4 and 7 have separate bathrooms and they have their own code combination lock on the door like the front door and the room door.
All areas are very clean and the room is very well presented.
Would definitely recommend, great property and great value.

Would advise staying at other hotels close by… We were sadly let down by no running water meaning we were unable to shower, clean teeth or even flush the toilet.
There was also no wifi if you require this for work. There was no help when we were there and no response to our 3 emails and phone call despite us being very friendly and fair on stating the issues.
Good location if you’re willing to risk no water or compensation.

Room was nice but no door on bathroom and on Saturday somebody had our door access and stated they had the room booked. Walked in on us so a bit embarrassing.

Parking understated. The closest we could find was a walk and you’re not guaranteed to be able to stay there if you use your car; it’s the village car park and on a first come, first serve basis

Not the standard we expected after reading previous reviews. The room was so small that two people couldn’t walk around at the same time. Mould in the bathroom. The room itself had a musty smell.

This hotel is in a great central position in stow. We received all the codes for the doors we needed in a message the day before arrival. We had one of the smaller rooms with a separate private bathroom. The room itself was snug but big enough for two and the bathroom was really big with a bath. There is a shared fridge under the stairs which was great for the heat wave ! Would 100% reccomend this hotel, especially as other in the area cost up to double!

Average stay with noisy small room.

Once arrived the reception area was very nice and well decorated. The front door code system worked well.

Once I got up the 1st flight of stairwell and opened the door to my room (room 4) I was t particularly blown away. The room was small and a little claustrophobic. You could only sleep in it and not spend any time in it. There was barely any room to walk around the bed properly.

The TV was way too small for a modern room and there was no room for any kind of wardrobe. My room didn’t have a wardrobe but a small chest of draws only. The room was well decorated and the ceiling lights & coving looked amazing.

What ruined this experience was the amount of noise from the main road. Cars and lorries all blasting past all day and night made sleeping a bit of a rubbish experience. The secondary glazed windows do nothing, I also had a hole in my window and could feel a draft all night long and the extra road noise. (See picture).

The bed has been ‘well used’ and wasn’t very comfortable. The mattress dipped and the pillows were like pancakes. I slept on 3 pillows in the end.

The overall set up with the bathroom across the hallways just doesn’t work. You have to put a code in to get in the bathroom but the door doesn’t shut properly unless slammed shut. A bit irritating when you need to pee at night.

The shower was nice but excessively powerful resulting in water going absolutely everywhere , then steaming up the entire room.

Victoria house provided a nice room to stay in during our time at Stow. Since there is nobody at the front desk, do not expect reception services e.g. advice on where to stay, help calling a cab. We enjoyed our time here (plus, they included fudge and sherry!).
