This was our first experience of a dog friendly hotel and it was amazing to have the comfort and convenience of a hotel room whilst having our pet with us. As expected the room was basic but clean and spacious. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful and the hotel is ideally situated for the dog friendly beach and other attractions such as Shanklin Chine. We didn’t see much of the entertainment but the ‘happy hour’ was very welcome!

If I’m honest I didn’t have high expectations when booking this hotel we only needed somewhere to sleep but it exceeded everything, we had a lovely little balcony area, a bath although it was a bit slow to run the room was spacious plenty of cupboards and drawers to store things I was pleasantly surprised, the only complaint is the tea was the worst tea I’ve ever had😂 but we didn’t get food or drinks so I couldn’t possibly comment on that but I couldn’t fault the experience we had if we were ever to go back to Shanklin I’d probably stay again, we loved the fact it was dog friendly too

AS soon as you step into hotel drabness hits you. .I booked a 'Deluxe' twin bedroom with view. To start with key cards would'nt work. When entry obtained to bedroom, confronted by 2 Military style metal framed beds with a matress thown on top. The toilet cistern continually ran. Spiders craling out beneath the rotten skirting boards in bathroom,which had acompact shower producing a dribble. Shocking hotel-never again

Service is excellent but the hotel really needs updating. Bathrooms MUST be replaced in rooms- in one of the rooms we booked, the toilet came clean off the floor! Owners will not get away with this standard for much longer- the hotel needs investment. Location is great and price was ok- but definitely needs updating.

The room was dirty
The fan had dust all collected on the outside. I had fleas or bed bugs I'm not sure at the bottom of the bed when I pulled back the duvet in the morning .They were alive and I showed the manager the live bugs on video and also gave her a dead one from my bed
If that was not enough the bottom sheet had blood on it . Not mine . I am now covered in over 100 bites. Expedia being very difficult in arranging some sort of refund. Do not stay here.

Hotel for Chartered Tours

Well after reading the mixed reviews, we decided to book this hotel for a 6 night stay after a cruise out of Southampton was cancelled. This seaside hotel (right across the road from the beach) was exactly what was described, and although clean, was in need of some \"sprucing up\" for sure. As with any property near Salt water, you will need a lot of upkeep and maintenance to keep it looking appealing. We used it as a base for exploring Shanklin, Sandown and surrounding area. It is a Bus/Charter hotel, with very little food/drink options, however there are plenty of excellent bars, restaurants nearby. The Beach Cafe 34 right next door is an Excellent Family run cafe open for Breakfast/Lunch with good portions and prices. The Hotel Restaurant was NOT open to the Public for Breakfast/Dinner during our visit, you have to pre-book and it only has a limited menu for the Chartered guests. All in All it was what we expected and were able to enjoy our time in and around this great Seaside village!!

After reading a varient of mixed reviews we were apprehensive of what to expect but upon arrival staff were friendly, and our room was clean and adequate for our short stay. The hotel is right opposite the beach and within
a short walking distance to pubs amusements and the chine. It's also perfectly located for exploring Shanklin. We would certainly return again for another short break.

Good coaching hotel that delivers

Lovely stay at this hotel. Free parking was great. Although some areas needed updating, the actual room was nice and large. Clean with fluffy towels and clean bedding. One mattress could have been updated, as you could feel the springs. The only feedback would be the kitchens/service areas below room 127 , there is a door that bangs constantly from 7am in the morning.

The hotel was cheap and suited us for what we needed - just somewhere to sleep and dog-friendly. However I didn’t see a member of staff at all throughout my stay - front doors were locked, bar and restaurant were shut (which we hadn’t been informed about in advance). As it happens this wasn’t a problem for us - as we were visiting relatives - but could be a problem for other guests. Hotel was dated and a bit shabby. TV did not work.

Our room had obviously had a leek and had black mold on the ceiling which smelled when you walked in the room. However the bedding towels and coffee area was kept spotless with room daily cleaning. The hotel has its own free parking which is a must at Shanklin and it is a fairly central location on the beach front.

Beautifully located along the beach. Friendly staff, good service, plenty of food choices, and lots of activities for the kids in the area. Book the view of the beach, you wont regret it.

Although my duvet was changed as soon as I complained, it is totally unacceptable to provide guests with stained bedding, be they washed or not.

This hotel is split into two hotels ( we stayed on the left-hand side)and only the one on the right has a restaurant. ( possibly booking under another hotel name). You can get breakfast, however, it is additional to the room charge and you can only eat breakfast from 8 am to 9 am as the other hotel supplies the restaurant and it is mainly only for coach trip breakfasts hence the opening times.
We were informed that it is a full English and continental, however, did not choose to have this at additional cost and also so time-restricted.

Another weird factor is our hotel did not supply any food, the front restaurant is owned separately from the right hotel's restaurant and the food is cooked in the bar in the hotel on the left! ( But this hotel does not supply food for its own guests).
CONFUSED ? so were we.

The staff were friendly.
Water for the kettle is from the tap in the bathroom sink, water from the sink was not good to drink.
There were no complimentary soaps or shampoos, however, the towels were clean and fresh.
Additional tea, coffee, milk, and sugar were supplied when required.
Free parking around the back of the hotel, you have to give your reg number.
Parking outside the front of the hotel is free from 6 pm to 10 am.
locked in at night time, the only exit is fire exit to get around the building to reception

Excellent sea front location but the hotel is in dire need of an upgrade. There are cracked floor tiles in the reception, the rooms are tired (that is being kind) and the whole hotel needs a re-fit. On the plus side, the rooms are clean and tidy, the sheets and towels are clean and the hotel itself is clean. It is just tired.

Cannot give this place any ratings as 2 weeks before my stay they emailed me to say they cannot accept my booking which was already paid for and confirmed,they moved me to the OYO Marina Hotel which was OK but not what i wanted, I suspect they were getting more money for the room ,very poor customer services by OYO and thanks to hotels.com for the compensation

Despite location, avoid this hotel.

I stayed 3 nights, June 2021 with my 4-year-old grandson, in Room 1 (twin room). THE ROOM: its location, right next door to the room housing the pool table, then the bar, was not good for people wanting to sleep before 10pm. The receptionist couldn't even find the room on check-in. The ignorance of the staff about their own hotel and the bus service was unexpected. THE BEDS: the mattress was 6 inches longer than the bed base, meaning there was nowhere to tuck sheets or quilt in; even if the base had been the same length, the quilt wasn't long enough, meaning one could choose between an uncovered torso or uncovered feet. THE CURTAINS: they offered some degree of privacy but did not stop any light. They were not even properly hung. (UN)CLEANLINESS: a sweet-wrapper left on the coffee tray indicated lax cleaning (during a pandemic!). NO UNDERSHEET: there was nothing between the flimsy sheet and the mattress. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE: the free-standing wardrobe/closet was not attached to the wall at all. I stepped on the bottom as I packed to leave (I'm short), to ensure I had left nothing on the top shelf, and the entire closet started to tip towards me.

The Esplanade itself offers some attractions for young families, but you would be better off staying up in the town, at a nicer establishment, and using the half-hourly Shanklin Shuttle to get down to the beach. If this hotel had been billed as 1.5 stars, and cost £40-50/night, I might have thought it was value for money.

One of the worst hotel I ever experienced: no hot water, impressive noise until 21:45 due to the kitchen (room 115), toilets flushing issues. They said that the absence of hot water was due to the hotel being reopened after the pandemics. Surely all hotels reopened after the pandemics lack hot water.

Didn't have high expectations but having a clean room and be able to take a shower are common sense things. Room wasn't clean and there was no clean service while our 3-nights stay although we were always leaving the clean- service badge on the door. Shower was not working and solution given (after many times try to ask for hep) was to let us use another room from another floor to take a shower.. Overall, totally disappointing stay.

We got uograded due to our room not being ready to a room with a balcony view. This was very pleasant to have this but the room very small. And is not woeth the money that it is advertised for.
Mirror tucked away in the corner of the room which was hard to use.
No full length mirror.
Needs a set of drawers.
Decor was not great.

No wifi signal
No tv picture at all for the while 3 days we stayed. Which is great if you dont watch tele or use your phone.
Dirty in places and needs a womans touch.

I stayed here for 4 nights having wanted to book a last minute trip to Shanklin (I love the Chine). I booked a single room at this hotel as it was dead cheap. I had low expectations for the place because it was cheap but it was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and Id thoroughly recommend staying here.

Booked room with breakfast included. Arrived at hotel to be informed breakfast is not included. Hotel advised OYO are at fault and should not have advertised it as such. In fact hotel advised OYO have not paid them and owe the hotel £300k. I politely explained this is between the hotel and OYO and shoul not affect me. Hotel agreed and said they would honour the booking. Happy days but following morning when trying to order breakfast again payment was demanded.and advised to take this up with OYO.No other option but to pau up. Very poor service and reverting on original good will even worse than offering it in the first place. So caution if you have booked via Expedia through OYO with breakfast included expect to be charged a second time for it!

Nice hotel, excellent location

The hotel was in a great location right on the sea front. We had room 133 which had a baclony facing the sea. The room was clean and basic. The bathroom was quite small but adequate. The mixer on the shower was not the best and also quite small. For the price we paid the hotel was absolutely fine. The restaraunt downstairs was fully booked during our stay but this was probably due to the eat out to help out offer. All in all a good stay.

I did liked the location only.I did not like that when we arrived, ready to change and going to the beach(was the single day with good weather) ,the receptionist tell us to come back at 3.30 pm,even if we arrived at 2 pm when the check in must start and also she tell us they have no parking spaces and to remove our car already parked in their car park and try to find a space in a paid car park nearby. We became frustrated and confused and just left and come back at 3.30 pm and carry out our baggage in the room . I have parked our car in a paid car park and went to the beach. After 6 pm when we come back again, they give us a parking permit and I moved the car . I have realised that when we arrived was at least seven free spaces in the car park and later on all occupied, means all the customers arrived after us received the same story about parking and complaints, like us and finally the manager released the parking permits . Also the hotel is dirty and has very old windows with very strange and rusty handles . Windows are very dirty, the curtains too ,room and bathroom not very clean ,dusty and because of dust and not cleanliness we seen few spiders! The car park is very bumpy and has many potholes. Floors are old wooden floor and very noisy, also we hear a lot of steps and chat from upstairs late midnight because of this floor/ ceilings. Not customers fault ,they can walk ,talk ,drink in their room,not my problem ,but I don't need to hear them .Strongly NOT recommended.

We stayed at the hotel for a long weekend. The staff were nothing but very helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The room wasn't a beach view which I really wish we had taken as the hotel is right on the Seafront. The hotel was clean and the room for us and our grandson was a great size. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom with a shower and bath was great. If someone has mobility problems I would suggest a ground floor room because although there was a lift we still had a few stairs to climb. We will definitely request to book again
