Great location with bars & restaurants nearby, big room & nice pool. But a pity, like many others’ commented, the rooms seem under-maintained. Bedroom was fine for me, sheets were white & clean. But the bathroom shower floors got many black mould spots, yellowish patches on toilet floors too. The amenity kits are probably out for very long, the colour of the some of boxes already faded, didn’t use any, but surprised with the “age” of them. Toilet / bathroom had misty mouldy smell, although it was dry when I entered upon check in.

I will reconsider staying here again, due to the convenience to good restaurants & bars, & I am still pleased with the bedroom. Just got to bear with the yucky bathroom. Quick showers & washup should be still bearable.

Kirana Canggu Hotel Review

The hotel was in a great location and close to the beach and restaurants.
The hotel was a bit run-down and required some much needed maintenance. The pool was greenish in colour and my partner refused to swim in it! Breakfast was included in our package, however, the choices were very limited. And at best, I would say it was average in quality & quantity.

Highly recommend!

Canggu can be a hard spot to navigate if you’re staying in a villa on the outskirts of town. The location of The Kirana is exceptional; walking distance to the beach is a massive plus for me. The staff were so engaging and ready to accomodate any of our wishes. Really couldn’t fault this hotel.

The location was very ideal (close to shops, the beach, food, etc.). The staff were all incredibly nice, helpful and welcoming. I would absolutely recommend staying there for short-time and long time stays (we stayed for 7 nights). I highly recommend the Kirana.

The staff was very friendly. The room was in terrible shape, but the bed was comfy and the ac worked. We stayed in the suit. The bedroom area is open to the living room. Most of the furniture was damaged (or missing as per the photos). The bathroom sinks somehow both leaked onto the floor and clogged. The towel rack fell off the wall. The bath tap was dangling from the wall. The floors were very damaged. The towels and sheets were not very clean (def not bleached, often had stains). Breakfast was tasty. The pool was a good temperature.

Location was great. Staff were generally helpful. We were staying on the first level by the pool and noticed the clearing of drinks and glasses were not frequent. We noticed uncleared tables outside of our room for up to 14 hours. from evening 7 pm right through to next morning when we left. Other than that, hotel is right opposite Milk and Madu which is great!

I stayed in the penthouse suite, the room appointments were quite frustrating, which is really due to the property being aged.
I had a private plunge pool but it never got any so barely used it. I had to use the main pool to lay in the sun, and that pool is situated right in front of the restaurant and reception so you basically lay in your swimsuit directly in front of anyone eating.
The bathroom or bedroom hasn’t got power points near the mirror so you can’t use your hair dryer - I had to go in the kitchen and use the tiny mirror behind the kettle.
The light switches in the bedroom are by the bed but not close enough to switch off from the bed.
The coffee cups in the kitchen were tiny, and no cutlery provided, considering the room comes with a full fridge freezer and dining table was annoying.
The staff were great and the location was good but for the price was not worth it. Would not stay again

We loved our stay at the Kirana Hotel. It is walking distance to the beach, restaurants, bars, spas and salons. Everyone is very welcoming and the spa services are amazing. We got a free 15 minute foot massage and added a 90 minute Balinese massage and a whole body scrub. The spa services are very affordable and is discounted if you stay at the hotel.

The pool is also really nice and is open until 9pm! We loved our stay here and enjoyed the pool a lot after a long day at the beach.

After reading all the mixed reviews on this hotel i was concerned about staying here but the minute i checked in to the hotel all my concerns went away. The room was nice and clean and everything in working order. Staff were also extremely friendly and helpful with any queries. The hotel is well located - the beach is not even a 5 minute walk and lots of shops, places to eat and spas outside your door. I could not fault it in any way. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely consider the Kirana for any future travel. It was great!

The staff is great and I liked the location. A bit rundown with the bathroom (bathtub didn’t work and strange smell) and room facilities like the kettle, but most things are in working order. The Internet is not bad, but can go off sometimes, so I went to the cafe a few times, as I was working remotely while staying in Canggu. But the staff was always awesome, so I had a great stay overall.

The hotel's staff was very nice. The breakfast was good. Like most hotels in Bali, the room had quite a few ants in it especially close to the balcony, the cigarette smoke from other guests smoking on their balconies was seeping in to our room from our balcony door and the bathroom in general could do with a scrub (you can tell it was cleaned but there is a lot of calcium and dirt build up in various sections. I would of liked to rate this hotel better but the thing that disappointed me the most was that even though they are aware about everything that is going on with COVID 19 they didn't think twice to tell me there are NO REFUNDS even when I told them we may have to leave 2 days early to catch an earlier flight home otherwise we could be trapped in Bali for months. I think the hotel management should redefine their notion of professionalism and customer service and have more understanding for their guests in these difficult times. At the very lest charge a fee but the fact of the matter is none of the hotels were full, so they were not loosing revenue on the room and we did not sleep there for 2 nights (left plenty of time before checkout).

Great hotel, management requires improvement

The hotel was fantastic. Very comfortable, clean and Would recommend to people to stay there.

The only disappointment was the house cleaning service. They threw away my business notes which was place on the side table. It was an important document and of course they could not retrieve it by the time I asked for them.

They did not offer any compensation nor discount which made me even more angry. So I would say the management needs to be sorted out.

I was not a fan of this property as it was not very clean or well kept. There was no hot water for my entire stay, although they said that an engineer came to fix it, it wasn't fixed.
The furniture (desk chair, bench, etc) was dirty and the room felt very \"used\".
They combine their shampoo & conditioner into one Shampoo-Conditioner bottle which I haven't seen in years, and those never produce good hair results.
The upside of the hotel was the 3 course morning breakfast that was included with my room was very robust, and the food was fairly good. I also really liked the Apple/Basil welcome drink I received upon arrival at the hotel. Pretty good location on one of the main strips in Canggu, which made walking to the beach, shopping, getting food pretty easy. They also have a nice concierge that will prompt a taxi cab for you whenever you need it.

At the end of the day, the bed itself was clean and it did the job of being a place to stay, but it felt like a 2-3 star hotel in the US, and I wouldn't say I was very comfortable. I also didn't pay that much- maybe $70 USD per night, so that said, I guess I got what I paid for.

Saw the reviews and stars on Hotels.com and thought we are in for a great stay at The Kirana for our anniversary stay but it turns to be pretty disappointing.

We waited patiently for check-in albeit putting in a request for early check-in cos' we arrived very early that morning. When we were told the room was ready, we were welcomed with their electrician still fixing the lights, switches and alarms, with the entire floor still in a mess. There was a hole in the wall, the wooden planks on the floor were coming off, old chewing gum stuck on the floor, the bathroom was not maintained, bathroom floor was badly stained, the bathtub couldn't drain, tap knobs falling apart, etc. etc. Requested for a change of room and was told we could only change the next day - well at least the \"new room\" had a working bathtub. The plus was possibly its location and that our room had direct pool access - BUT the pool was perpetually cold. Not sure I'll return.

The room was large and air con worked very well. Breakfast was huge and good quality. I had a pool terrace room which I had planned on using to lounge around the pool and relax, but there is NO privacy. In fact other people could lie on pool chairs directly outside my doors so therefore I couldn’t even have the curtains open in my room if was in there. On arrival the hotels machines couldn’t read my credit card (which worked perfectly) so told me they couldn’t check me in until i paid and then told me to withdraw cash from the credit card from an ATM. I suggested that as my credit card details were with Wotif that my payment was secured but they wouldn’t accept that. I finally got my card to work in their machine. I’m not sure how this would have been resolved otherwise. The bathroom wasn’t as clean as I would have expected and I had to place the bathmat next to my bed as my feet had dirt on them from walking in the floor and I had to use the mat to clean them before getting into bed. The pillows in the bed were amazing!! Like sleeping in clouds.

Pros:Good location, great service/great staff, good breakfast and amazing spa. I had an early checkout and the reception volunteered to give me the breakfast in a lunchbox and a wake up call.
Cons: The room itself - I stayed in a suite room. It was very basic, not very clean, could see drinks stains on the furniture. The biggest disappointment was the bathroom. The bathtub and the shower we’re worn out and soggy. You could see lime/soap stains for not being cleaned properly.
I wouldn’t stay there again.

We loved the location and the pool was nice as well super comfy beds. People are allowed to smoke in the pool and restaurant area so if your a non smoker you just have to avoid those areas a bit. Some of the rooms are run down a bit, ours had a washroom leak on the roof and the water doesn't work properly. We also got locked into our room as the door was broken. The service though was amazing, such amazing staff and people.

Good location, close to the main part of town so it's easy to get to restaurants and shops. However the room was quite worn out especially the bathroom. The shower tiles were grimy, and the whole bathroom gets wet because there is only a narrow panel to serve as the \"shower door\" and it doesn't cover the entire shower area. Also, there is no hair dryer per room -- it is only available upon request. So the guests need to call housekeeping every time they want to borrow a hairdryer and they need to check if one is available.

All the good things:
Fantastic location, close to the beach and restaurants. Very friendly staff (everyone was great!). Breakfast was really nice - not buffet style, set menu but there was a lot of variety. Happy hour is from 1-6pm :)

Not so good:
Standard rooms are small, pay extra and get a pool access one. Rooms are very basic. Bathrooms needs renovating, and the shower isn’t great. Wifi is terrible and pretty unusable! It made my stay so frustrating, as I was here for 6 days and wanted to keep in touch with friends and family.

This hotel is situated on a main tourist street full of restaurants, bars, shops, etc, but it's not really a place to relax and unwind - just a great place to stay if you want to be out and about. the pool is tiny, standard rooms are also tiny, bathroom is average (shower didn't have a big enough screen so the entire bathroom got wet). found 2 big spiders in our room. tiles in the resort were really slippery during wet season so I had 2 pretty bad falls.

We really enjoyed staying at the Kirana. Location was excellent and it was easy to get around and close to where we wanted to be. Our room was huge and comfortable. Staff is AMAZING. Room was AMAZING. Everyone is so friendly. Pool was great and refreshing. Location is probably the best in Canggu. Quiet for the most part except for acoustic night on Tuesday- but that ends at 9 PM so great to enjoy! I can't say enough great things. We stay in a LOT of hotels and we would def come back.

We forgot our passports, credit cards and cash in the safe when we left and the front desk gal was nice enough to motor it an hour to our new place!!!! Wow. Such amazing people here.

Great staff but issues with the room

The staff are great and very helpful so I cannot fault them, and the location was great too. But the room had several issues during our stay. The door handle/ key broke all 3 days, they did fix it for us but it was inconvenient to have staff in our room several times a day to get it fixed. There's a sewage problem in the toilets, the smell was really strong and made the room smell terrible. Every time we ran the shower the smell got worse. The day we left I developed an eye infection so I'm thinking the shower water could be a cause for this. The wifi broke down a lot and was slow to use. For the money we paid I expected much better so it was a disappointing stay overall.

I checked in around 9pm solo. I was really tired and just wanted to sleep. The room they gave me AC did not work so after calling a butler, they tried to fix, and after 20 min or so, they moved me to another room. By this point I was beyond exhausted. The resort is a bit outdated. They need to remove the scary mask in the room and upgrade the synthetic organza curtains.

We were returning guests. It was disappointing to find out at check in that the courtesy bicycles were not available as they were all damaged and it would be several months until the were supposed to be replaced. The staff did not offer any options for rentals etc. upon checking into our pool side room we found that the pool sun lounges no longer had soft covers on them and hence were not comfortable to use. The check out process was long whilst waiting for staff to check our minibar. It was only when I walked back to our room and found a staff member that this actually happened! When leaving the room four staff members were standing around basically watching as my wife an I carried our baggage out of the hotel with no offer of assistance.
The hotel itself is quite nice and location is good

Staff were excellent and location was perfect, a few minutes walk down to the beach and your on the main walkable strip in canggu. Close to all the cafes bars and restaurants. I gave a 4/5 for facilities only because I feel that there could have been more lounging space around the pool.

Oh and the spa was also really nice and reasonable priced.

Nice little hotel, good value for money. Rated as a 4 star, but I thought the room cleanliness and facilities were a little below par (leaking water and water on floor after shower; peeling paint on the walls; dirty floors). Excellent breakfast options. About 500-600 m away from the beach, but nice easy walk with restaurants and shops along the way. Nice pool and aesthetically pleasing. Would stay again, but also would explore other options in the area.

Rooms are humid, to the point that unless you have the a/c to full blast on freezing the place steams up completely. This also makes sure nothing will ever dry in your room.
Rooms also have plenty of ants.
Place is also very noisy.

Location is great but there are so many other places round the area that I'm sure are better and a LOT CHEAPER.

I Would probably only give a 3*
Initial impression was that from the outside this resort is aesthetically pleasing. Front desk trainee was lovely but her male superior was unfriendly and unwelcoming.
I was booked in a lead in category which was basic; linen stained, bathroom door knob fallen off, towels off color, dodgy tiling, shower head corroded, underneath bed full of dust and rubbish, lumpy Mattrass.
The property isn't advertised as a party hotel but in my 2 days there was quite rowdy with drunk people by the tiny pool (which all the rooms surround) and also room parties after midnight.
Canggu is an amazing area and this hotel location is fantastic, I just think they need to invest some money into making it better otherwise sadly they will lose business!

Not as well maintained as it should be

Pool is nice and in the central area of the hotel. The restaurant is beside the pool area and they play music all day until 9pm at night. If you want a quiet spot by the pool to read your book you should try a different hotel.
It has a gym but nothing operational apart from the 3 sets of weights. Cardio machines broken! Has potential to be a fab hotel but needs good and regular maintenance which it hasn't received. The bikes are rusted and left outside- they work but again not maintained. If you like super clean bring some spray and wipe to give the bathroom the once over. Breakfast very good! Service charge added to anything purchased In the hotel.

Friendly and clean

Nice hotel with friendly staff. Wifi was a bit slow and unreliable and at times we could not connect. This hotel is in a developing street that, at the moment (September 2016), does not have a huge variety of shops and restaurants.

Friendly staff & Pleasant stay at the Kirana

The Kirana is a nice, modern boutique hotel. We stayed there for 5 nights and we would return. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel was well-maintained offering computers, a relaxing lounge and dining area, plus bicycles to borrow. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We booked a day trip with their driver to Uluwatu and we would recommend this experience as the driver was polite, helpful and very knowledgeable about the area (even taking us to an extra beach we didn't know about). The location is great if you like a more quiet spot, but still with lots of good surrounding restaurants and shops. It is in a convenient location because it is only a 20 minute scooter ride to Seminyak if you are looking for shopping, another beach, or a night out. Changuu is on your way to Ubudd so we liked it because it was somewhat central-a nice happy medium. They helped arrange a scooter rental, including both drop-off and pick-up service. Pool is small but clean and refreshing-it's a smaller hotel so it works. There is a small fitness room as well. We only ate there during breakfast and we were happy with the food and healthy fresh choices. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Kirana and we would definitely return!

Nice hotel for the price

The Karina Hotel is a nice enough hotel, nothing fancy, clean enough and basic facilities. It is a 5-10minute walk from the beach - and you have to walk on the road so not ideal if you are thinking of staying here with small children.

The pool area is too small for the size of the hotel and it feels a bit awkward lying on the beds directly outside the 'poolside' rooms but you have no other choice. You do not get the sun at the pool until late morning, and then through the day one side of the pool is always in shade - and with so few beds, it is not easy to move if you want to be in the sun.

The breakfast was good enough - I was only there for 5 days and didn't eat it every morning - think it would become a bit boring if you were there for a 2 week stay as not a great variety.

I also ate once for lunch and once for dinner - again, meals ok, nothing too exciting but pleasant.

I feel this hotel worked for me for a short stay - any longer and I think I would prefer to have been closer towards Seminyak. There are however some lovely cafes close by for lunch, coffees and breakfast.

I also had a few massages at the Spa - was great to have this on site, and the girls were really nice. Some better than others - but that is just personal preference.

I would consider staying again for a 5 day trip but not for any longer.

Loved it!

We had an amazing stay at the kirana with our 6 month year old girl, staff were amazing loved the location close to so many good cafes and food places, the beach is also really close, just a 5 minute walk. We will defiantly be back!

Smelly hotel. Rude staff.

We got to this hotel at 9 pm and we were really excited about staying here. When we got to our room however the first thing that hit me was the intense smell of mould. When I saw the bathroom I was really disappointed. We went down to tell the staff that we can't stay in the room so they told us that they could change us to a pool access room which is apparently better.

After 1 hour of waiting, we were finally changed into another room. Although the room didn't smell like mould when we looked carefully the bathroom was still gross and the bed sheets were dirty and didn't feel fresh at all.

When we asked for a refund the hotel management told us to please stay with them for the night. We kept repeating that the hotel is unclean and we are not going to stay. They were quite pushy. I got a sarcastic statement of \" what do you want me to do, give you the money now??\" .... well to be honest that would be the least that could be done after the trouble we went through. We had to rebook and pay for other accommodation and we're transported (and charged) for a car at 12.30 am.

I am so disappointed. This is not the service or treatment that I have ever seen in Bali. I have been here 6 times and this is by far the worst hotel that we ever stayed in - there are far better hotels for this price in Bali.

Great hospitality

We stayed only for a night, but the highlight was the great service of the staff - from reception to restaurant staff. They are very friendly and helpful, able to arrange airport transfer with enough notice given.

Breakfast was superbly satisfying - choose between continental/american/local flavors. Had a drink from the bar but was not impressive though.

Short walk to the beach, free bicycles are also offered by the hotel for guests to use. We also took walks to cafes nearby, there are enough to cafe-hop.

A please surprise !

The Kirana was a welcome surprise. Good location and friendly staff. Close to Cannggu surf breaks and local cafes. It was a perfect base for me. Staff were very friendly and the food was good. Free breakfast was a bit limited but meals were great. I would definitely stay at the Kirana again !

nice and quiet

We selected this hotel because we arrived late on Bali and did not want to go to crowded beaches like Kuta. Canggu is a quiet beach for surfers. We stayed at the pool and used the fitness facilities. Excellent food in the restaurant and friendly staff.

Perfect location!

Kirana is in the best location! Nice + close to the beaches + plenty of hot spots. Old Man's is only a few minutes away + if you're into yoga then I would definitely recommend 'The Practise' which is right opposite the road. Staff were very friendly + attentive. We stayed here twice throughout our trip, once in the ocean room view on the 3rd floor and then on the ground floor in a pool view room - both of which were nice and cheap! Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was great with some of the most helpful staff. The tv reception was a bit shotty and the bathroom smelt but that's just a Bali sewage thing. The aircon was crisp and the bed was super dooper comfy! Great location to Canggu restaurants and beach, and not too far from Echo Beach.

I received a wonderful welcome from the staff, they are very professional and friendly ! My room was wonderful , Great A/C !! comfortable bed, nice and clean room. The water coming from the shower smelled a little bit when first turning it on, but other than that, it was great ! I would definitely stay here again !
