We booked the economical room which has sloped ceilings on the 4th floor, a tiny window 2\" above the floor that was about a foot high and let in zero daylight and a musty smell in the room.

A Perfect Stay in Paradise 🌊

Our time at the Villaggio Beach Hotel in Sperlonga was nothing short of wonderful. The staff was more than accommodating, making us feel welcome and cared for from the moment we arrived. The pool is fantastic, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious.

But the true highlight? One of the most beautiful beaches in all of Italy, just steps away — soft sand, crystal-clear water, and breathtaking views. This is the kind of place you never want to leave. We’ll be dreaming of coming back!

The property was very clean, the staff were very helpful answering questions regarding the hotel and the surrounding areas. The shuttle to the beach was convenient and readily available. The private beach was lovely with chairs and umbrellas to rent and a very nicely decorated and welcoming facility for drinks, food and restrooms. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a huge variety for our large family and a calm and lovely way to start the day. The spa services were a wonderful addition to our stay. We would return to this hotel! Thank you for a lovely stay! We are refreshed and recharged!

Amazing location for proximity to beach and lovely restaurants. The most helpful and friendly staff. We are a Black family and were made to feel really welcome. They even helped us get a taxi when we were stuck without trains or buses one night.

This particular hotel stay was a completely unique experience for myself and my family, not only because it was our first time staying there as well as our first time visiting Sperlonga, but also because after we checked out, we could not think of one even somewhat critical observation about our stay. This hotel absolutely lives up to the “Grand” in its name and then some. Every area of it is so beautiful, clean, and comfortable, and the rooms are spacious and accomodating. The staff is so welcoming, helpful, and friendly, and all the amenities offered are so lovely, from the wonderful morning breakfast, the pool and other outdoor areas, and the complementary shuttle service to and from their portion of the beach. While I would have preferred to have known in advance what the cost was to reserve chairs and an umbrella at the beach, the beachside staff assisted us quickly and competently, with the charge added to our bill upon checkout (rather than requiring cash in hand). This truly felt like a boutique hotel experience, yet very reasonably priced. We can’t wait to return!

I wouldn’t consider this a 4 star hotel. We were in a room in the basement that had no wifi and even tho we asked a few times nothing was done. Water wasn’t replaced even when asked and no one explained how the booking of beach chairs worked. When you come all the way from Canada expecting wifi and a beach spot , it’s disappointing to not get this and be paying 500$/ nite. The city is stunning and beautiful ! The shuttle service to the beach and the buffet were also great

There was mould on my bathroom
Shower walls. The rest seems clean. Other thing is the pool was nice to look at from a distance however there was broken tiles everywhere. The bottom of the pool was rough to bare feet because of broken tiles . The hotub was not headed and no one cleaned the water in both pool and hot tub. The water was cloudy . other then that the rest of the place was clean

Good but...

Overall, it was a wonderful hotel and we enjoyed our stay. However, having to find out we had been charged 20€ for private beach use per day, 10€ for towels at pool, and not being notified that we should bring our own towels to the beach because they have none there seemed non-transparent..

Tobacco smoke smell everywhere. Uninspired breakfast. Half the lights/sockets in room didn't work. Shower had half a curtain and leaked all over floor. - damaged walls were evidence this had been going on for long time. Check in offered no assistance with bags.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel , the staff were helpful enough and the facilities were good . The room we had was fairly basic but comfortable and clean.

Good points- massage shower , cleanliness of room

Bad points- pool bit too cold and jaccuzi was dirty, no kettle in room , bed quite uncomfortable, breakfast not huge amount of choice and not what I would expect from a 4* hotel, didn't try the evening meals as they were expensive and didn't like the sound of any of the menus.

Sperlonga as a whole is a lovely place ,very quiet (possibly down to time of year) and food overall not great however would recommend the gelateria called dolce gelato on the seafront and the pizzaria called gambi de gatto in the town square.

Beautiful and comfortable

The Virgilio is an excellent choice in Sperlonga. The rooms are spacious and the entire hotel is immaculate. The place is beautiful and the staff attentive. It has a view and is on a hill but close to everything including a private beach, which was perfect. The pool was awesome, too. Breakfast was included and had delicious pastries and eggs and fantastic coffee. My only complaints are that they could have varied the food they serve each day.

We had to call the hotel last minute to arrange a taxi to pick us up from the station as we got to there late at night, and they sent someone right away . The hotel is a short walking distance to the beach. Our room was changed to one with a better view (facing the beach). Wi-fi wasn't too good in our room on second floor, but all round very pleased with their excellent customer service. Sperlonga is a beautiful and lovely town.

The hotel was in a good location about 300 metres from the beach. The staff at the hotel reception were quite friendly and helpful. The room was well maintained and clean with an excellent shower unit in a bath. It had a free safe with fridge stocked with complimentary water and soft drinks for when you arrive. The breakfast was continental style with bacon and scrambled eggs for something different. Service in the breakfast room was a bit hit or miss, sometimes they would ask you if you wanted tea or coffee, sometimes they wouldn't ( some of the staff looks as if they had been there to long - but not all ). The bar and lounge area was comfy and kept very clean. The pool area a plentiful supply of loungers and parasols and a well stocked bar that served a nice selection of bar snacks

A nice comfortable hotel near beach

We spent three nights at the hotel, overall are very happy with the quality of the hotel and service. Breakfast was super - wide variety of pastries, fruit and cheese and meat. the hotel was fully packed and we were located in a room below the ground floor. However the staff was helpful enough to move us to a nicer room in the first floor - a spacious comfortable room with a balcony. The hotel has a private beach within 15 minute walk from the hotel - it is possible to get there walking along the beach for a good exercise. the only negative is that no towels are provided at the pool area.

Walk to all and a pool to boot!

This hotel has an easy walk-to-all location, is quiet, has an very nice pool (on the small side) and attractive pool area. The staff was very helpful, e.g. I asked for restaurant recommendations and got great advice plus a map on how to get there. Everything was clean. My only beef was that the WiFi connection in my room was too weak to use so I had to sit in the lobby.

This hotel is just a few minutes walk from the beach,local shops and restaurants and would recommend it. Only comment would be that our room on the third floor had a sloping ceiling so had to be very careful in the bathroom especially for 6ft plus men! I struggled and I am only 5ft 2.5!

Hotel .com site neglected to say that the room would be in the attic ! with limited head room and a floor level 2 foot sq window,the route to it was very convoluted requiring 2 lifts. parking is no existent in the area so you have to use the underground garage e7 per night
OK the hotel is very smart and the breakfast brilliant it does have a nice private beach, take the courtesy bus as its a trek

This was our second visit to Grand Virgilio, its in a great position, the staff were superb, friendly and helpful. We chose an economy room, this was fine for us, but as its a mansard, dont get much of a view. Hotel is very clean we will certainly stay again.Sperlonga is a beautiful resort, we like it out of season, old town is beautiful and easy to get to from hotel.

Nice hotel but be aware of attack rooms - Bohème

I booked this hotel in Jan 2014 for a 9 day stay in Aug. On booking I had a choice of Standard or Superior room with King bed. I opted for the Superior Room because advanced booking the prices were very good. However when we arrived at the hotel we were given an attack \"Boheme\" room with approx 30cm window. We asked to be changed and as the hotel was full we ended up in 4 different rooms over our 9 day stay, spending 5 of these in the attack rooms. I feel that Expedia needs to include the \"Boheme\" as a separate room on their booking as on my paper work there was only mention of a King bed but on the paperwork the hotel had from Expedia it quoted a \"Boheme\". We knew of these \"Boheme\" rooms as we stayed in this hotel before, previously only booked a standard room but had a lovely room with a balcony. We are a couple in our 50's and while the rooms were well appointed and very clean, we had no desire to spend our stay it an attack room. We understood that the hotel was fully booked and at first they were helpful. But after 3 room changes we were told that this was the final change, only to be approached 2 days later while sitting at the pool to go back to the attack room for the final 4 days. We were given 5 mins to pack up and knowing that we were so upset they did give us an attack room with a bigger window. There was air cond. but it was still extremely hot.

The rooms are always clean and are made everyday. Pool area is lovely but could do with a few more sun loungers as they are normally all taken if you dont get down early in the morning
The hotel provided beach is approx half a mile away and is a nice walk, but if you dont fancy walking the hotel provide a free transport every few hours.

Recently refurbished, everything was pristine. Enjoyed our 2 nights and would highly recommend. Only negative was that we were in a top floor room which had sloping ceilings and reduced head room (both I am 5.10 amd my boyfriend is 6ft in height), bit puzzling why we got this room when the hotel wasn't at all full but was still a very nicely appointed room and bathroom even still.

the resort of sperlonga is ok if you just want the beach and pizza. the hotel is ok but not a very good 4 star. most of the staff lovely but miserable in restaurant. sperlonga dies at the end of sept. not too happy to find that the price did not include parking at 7 euro/day and local tax at another 6 euros. room comfy and adequate

Great Hotel in Beautiful area

It is a little far from Naples (45 minutes) and their aren't a huge number of food options nearby, but the staff is great and the hotel is very nice. It is a block from the beach, and has a pretty amazing view (if you are in the right room). I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in the area. The rates were good for the room we got.

Very annoying noise in our room, turned out to be the lift we could hear every time someone used it (so quite often!)
Pool was being cleaned and so not open for use until past 10am which I felt could and should have been done a bit earlier.
Very clean and friendly however with a lovely room (bar the noise). Very walkable to old town and the beach in the new part.

A hidden gem on the Italian coast

Hotel staff was very helpful considering we were the only americans vacationing there. Their English was far better than our Italian. The hotel is a few blocks from the beach but really modern,clean and quiet. The rooms are spacious for Europe standards with lots of closet space, a safe and working air conditioner. Request a room with a balcony.
Their beach is a bit of a walk maybe 15 minutes but they have a shuttle. You can walk the entire way on the beach which is fun, and we needed the exercise after all gelato and pasta we consumed. Sperlonga is a hidden gem.

A very pleasant surprise! The hotel is pretty new (or at least newly refurbished). It is very stylish and modern. Our room was three times the size of the one we had in Rome and very good value. The pool is smallish (but bigger than it looks in the photos!), breakfast very good by continental standards, location about 200 metres from bus stop, close to old town and north beach is very quiet. When we went in early June the hotel seemed almost empty and although the weather was really hot, Sperlonga was very uncrowded too so its a great time to go. WIFI in reception is free and worked well

Lovely village and the hotel is close to pretty much everything in it. We had a room on top floor and we hit our heads on the roof several times per day because of how it was shaped (could only walk straight around the bed in the bedroom) and the A/C shut down during the nights for some reason..other than that, it was great. Really nice pools (small, but that's not an issue for me). Bus stop, beach and restaurants closeby

Friendly service but a couple of small problems

The staff here were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good with lots of options and the pool area was lovely. We got a good deal, considering this is a 4* hotel, but there were a few things which weren't as nice as I would have hoped: the shower flooded the bathroom and hallway every time we used it and the wifi was a bit hit and miss - we had to request to have it activated in our room, it would have been nice if it just automatically worked. Oh and the bed was very hard! Aside, from these small things it was a nice hotel. A bit lacking in atmosphere but this could've been down to it being the low season

We stayed for seven nights overall it was a great hotel. On our second day we went to reception and we could see no one on reception then we saw the manager call to a lady in the back office and the young lady came through and we found her unpleasant and basically just rude. All other members of staff were great. The fitness room was great but it was not open in the evening. The only other problem was that they did not have tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We were told that it was because we were by the sea with no further explanation.

The hotel is very nice and clean and the staff are very friendly although most only speak Italian. Unfortunatley the hotel had only been open for 3 days and most services were unavailable. The restaurant was closed. The pool had not been filled yet. There was no laundry service available and the laundrymat in town was closed. The town is very nice and the beaches were beautiful but again most stores and restaurants were closed. I would recommend going a little later in the tourist season.

Very nice modern hotel with lovely pool and terraced sunbathing area. We were given an attic room when we arrived which, although very nice had no windows except a long floor level window under a sloping roof which required you to lie on the floor to see out and was very dark.This was changed with no difficulty when we asked at reception. However, if this would be a problem for you it would be worth checking this when booking. Otherwise a good hotel in a pleasant resort.

Fint basseng også om en ikke vil på stranda. Flott bad og god og stor seng. Eneste som trekker litt ned er aircondition som var lav og blåste luft rett mot senga. For varmt til å skru ned av. Men vi hadde et supert opphold.

Glad och serviceinriktad personal som hjälpte oss med bokningar på bra restauranger och fixade med ett rum för en extra dag på grund av tågstrejk. Skönt med bra poolområde när det blåste kraftigt vid havet.

Vi hade återigen en fantastisk vistelse på Virgilio Grand Hotel. Vänlig och hjälpsam personal. Riktigt bra frukost och fina rum.

Nice hotel with good location.

The hotel is nice and clean and is located just a few minutes walk from the city center. Helpful staff. The hotel provides free shuttle to the beach area, and Lello (the driver) was extremely service minded and nice :-) We think 35 euro for two sunbeds and an umbrella was quite expensive given that it belonged to the hotel, but the beach area was really nice and provided good service. Breakfast was OK - typical Italian style with more sweets than hole grain bread, vegetables and fruit (never can understand why when they have the best variety in the world to pick from...). All in all - absolutely worth the price and can be recommended.
