Staff was friendly and went above and beyond. The private baths were nice and a good way to relax and unwind. The free shuttle from Yufuin station was convenient.

The food was great - lots of variety to try. I liked the Kabosu cocktail - highly recommend as an add-on.

We had a wonderful stay at Yufuin Hoteiya. The check-in was very warm and welcoming, especially thanks to Oda-san. We loved our private onsen, and both the kaiseki dinner and breakfast were outstanding. One of the highlights was making popcorn in the hearth (Yoppite) room—such a fun and memorable touch.

Service throughout our stay was impeccable, including the convenient drop-off service provided by the staff. The location is also excellent: an easy walk from Yufuin Station, with lots of charming shops along the way, and just a short stroll to Lake Kinrin.

We truly enjoyed our time here and hope to come back again.

I liked that the location is away from the busy are, yet close enough.
Good English support.
We went up the hill and explored, which I would recomment if you want to get away from the crowd. Just a few good quality shops and art galleries, and restaurants up the hill.

The checked-in experience was easy. Breakfast and dinner were a phenomenon. Everyone was kind and accommodating. We also got free milk in the morning that we could take, free boiled eggs, sweet potatoes, and popcorn by the fire at night. We loved our experience. Highly recommended.

I loved the onsen options in Hoteiya. All the shared onsens are private and has different layouts for you to experience. The onsens in the room are also the perfect size and temperature. Huge kudos to the staff for being super attentive and providing detailed explanation of the property and for providing the right size clothing. Absolutely would return if I ever came back to Kyushu.

We enjoyed our stay at Hoteiya. The staff were kind, knowledgeable, and very attentive. There was a shuttle to and from the Yufuin JR station that was an easy phone call to arrange. The facilities were sparkling clean. We liked the different bathing areas. We didn't have dinner but we loved the breakfasts, which were different every day. The town of Yufuin is breathtaking. It has interesting tourist destinations and good food. Aside from spending time in the onsen, our favorite part of this trip was visiting neighboring Beppu, which was easy to access via the bus stop in front of the resort. Altogether, we had an amazing time and hope to return someday.

Best honeymoon stay

This was one of the best experiences from our honeymoon. The staff was so nice and accommodating. Most staff spoke fluent English and were helpful in getting us a taxi and helping us with anything else we needed. Breakfast was traditional and incredible.

Just book it!

We stayed at Hoteiya to celebrate my grandmother’s birthday, and it was our best experience yet! I am so thankful that we were able to stay in this ryokan. Four generations, from my 2-year-old daughter to my grandmother in her 90s, still talk about how wonderful our stay at the ryokan was, and of course, all other family members loved it too. We stayed in the Fuji room, which was spacious, extremely clean, and very well-maintained. Both the indoor and outdoor hot springs were amazing. Outdoor one is definitely enough for 4 people.

Everyone who worked there was top-notch and friendly. We love traveling in many countries, but I have never met this super friendly receptionist ever in my life!(She has short hair)

I had seen some negative reviews about their kaiseki, but after experiencing it, I felt that it was a huge waste of my time. Each course was super tasty and extremely fresh, with a wide variety, and the portion sizes were perfect, even for my husband. Everyone was so impressed with the food. If we visit again, we will definitely stay for more than one night and, obviously, go back to Hoteiya.

由布岳が見える露天風呂は工事中のため使用できませんでしたが、他な露天風呂は入れて、気持ちよかったです。

観光地の金鱗湖まですぐなので朝霧をみに早朝散歩がてら絶景がみれました。家族露天風呂が二つ、内風呂が一つ、さらにお部屋にも露天風呂と内風呂がついていて満足いくまで楽しめました。

朝食、夕食ともに個室でゆっくり美味しく堪能できました！

スタッフの方も丁寧に対応いただきました。お世話になりました。

後、すぐそばにローソンがあって便利でした。

We can enjoy the traditional ryokan and onsen itself. Our family stayed one night separated in two rooms and enjoyed kaiseki and breakfast. Dinner was one of my best dinner ever. The only concern is flies and bugs. But the customers have to endure if they want to enjoy rural style environment.

후지룸 후기가 적어서 걱정했는데 방 너무 너무 좋았어요! 가족여행이었는데 방도 넓고 개인노천탕도 정말 최고!
겨울이라 자는데 방이 조금 춥기는 했어요~ 따뜻한 잠옷 이나 핫팩 꼭 챙겨가세요ㅎㅎ
가이세키는 나쁘진 않았으나 평대로 조금 아쉽긴 했습니다.
그래도 시설도 너무 좋고 탕들도 다 마음에 들었고 다들 너무 친절하셔서 만족스러운 스테이였어요 :)

한국인 기준, 좋은 의미에서 레트로한 분위기의 료칸입니다. 카이세키도 괜찮은 수준으로 나오고, 노천탕도 시간을 지정해서 전세로 사용할 수 있습니다. 다만 욕탕이 좀 낡았다는 느낌을 받으실 수 있습니다. 그 정도만 제외하면 현재 가격에서 전체적으로 좋은 평가를 줄 수 있을 것 같아요.

호테이룸이랑 시다카 룸에 묵었어요.
겨울에 호테이방은 다른룸보다 추워요.
시다카방은 입실할때부터 바닥도 난방이 되어있고, 히터까지 잘 작동되어있는데, 호테이방은 조금 냉골이예요 ㅎ

부모님 모시고 가시면 시다카 룸 완전강추요 ( 룸안에 있는 전신마사지기도 만족에 한몫해요 )
이틀연박하니 석식도 조식도 두번다 바뀌어서 나와요

Enjoyable stay

We had stayed for one night to celebrate our 4th Anniversary.
We had a really enjoyable stay at the hotel. The staff were so nice and friendly.
There was pick up service at the JR station and the hotel is very close to the Main Street for shopping and for food!

Wonderful stay with my family, the staff are friendly and welcoming. Our family had a wonderful stay in this hotel, in particular, from 8-10pm they have a traditional popcorn making session, my kid loved it alot.

료칸 객실에서 5cm정도의 바퀴벌레가 나와서 직원이 와서 바퀴벌레 약을 뿌려 주고 죽은 사체는 들고 나갔습니다 밤새 전등을 키고 불편하게 잠을 설쳐야만 했기에 그 다음날 아침식사 하자마자 체크아웃 했습니다!
객실의 해충방역을 철저히 하도록 료칸에 부탁드립니다!

격이 다른 식사와 온천이었습니다. 바로 옆에 있는 콘**앙에 하루 묵고, 호테이야에서 하루를 묵었습니다만.. 딱 가격 차이만큼 격이 다르네요.

다시 간다고 해도 호테이야르르선택하고 싶습니다.

다만, 겨울에는 좀 춥습니다. 극세사 잠옷 준비하시기를 권합니다.
