The hotel is sufficient for what it is, nothing fancy, but conveniently located. Breakfast is very simple. No lotion in the room. The A/C was not strong at all; the room was too warm even though it was 7 degrees Celsius outside; we had to open the window to cool the room but the train station was constantly making loud noise, so the window had to be closed at night.

Everything stood out. Right from entering the place, to check in and to check out. A lot of the things they did was 5 star hotel for us. They took our luggage to our hotel room so when we came back to officially check in everything was in the room. The front reception was very welcoming and very helpful with everything. They even contacted JR West for me to help with retrieving my back pack that I left in the train.
Facilities:
We had our own coin operated wash and dry laundry at our level which you needed to book to use. So it was very convenient for us. There was also 3 coin operated laundry wash and dry by the reception desk that included a microwave room and more free toiletries.
Money exchange machine by the reception as well.
The buffet breakfast was excellent. Plenty of options and you can even have multiple flavoured ice cream along with it.
Hotel Room
The room was spacious enough for two. The bed was very comfortable. There were free toiletries too such as, comb, shaver, toothbrush and toothpaste along with shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
There’s a massage shop by the hotel entry door as well.

Convenience
Located right next to Nagano Station and bus stops to main attractions.
You can also go to the station without going out of the hotel as level two has a connecting hall to the station.

Hotel Metropolitan Nagano is directly connected from Nagano Station which is a gateway to lots of sightseeing spots. Service was impeccable, breakfast abundant and scrumptious, location so central to shopping and dining.

The only thing I wish this hotel would have is a spa with public bath/sauna. With cold winter in Nagano, hot bath would make the stay perfect. Otherwise, I enjoyed everything about my stay at this hotel.

There was really nothing to dislike. Being literally steps from the train station was the very definition of convenience. Immaculate condition. Plenty of amenities and a staff that could hardly be better. Makes me wish we were staying in Nagano for a longer period of time. The *only* minor inconvenience was a lack of a microwave (though there was one in a public area) and no drawers for unpacking clothes. Other than that - this was magnificent!

We really liked this hotel and would stay here again. Next time we would ask for a room that does not face the train tracks. The sound of the train warning and a couple minutes later the actual train passing woke us up quite early in the morning. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the room was very comfortable.

There is a direct exit to the shopping mall and train station. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Don Quixote just right across the street with a bridge so you do not have to cross the roads even. Just few steps off the JR Nagano station, you don’t even have to walk outside of building. This hotel is so close and convenient to get to.

Located adjacent to the train station, this modern hotel had plenty of amenities and warm comfortable and quiet rooms. Close to restaurants and shopping. Amazing food and gourmet items and local wine and sake in the walkway connected upper level of the train station. Friendly staff at the front desk. Our hotels.com reservation was located with just passport. Our bill matched our pre-reserved price.

I have stayed here before, and I will certainly consider staying here again when I next visit Nagano-ken. The hotel is right next to the Nagano Station. I was able to park my rental car easily in the basement garage (1,000 yen per day). Check-in was quick. A guest can walk to many nearby stores and restaurants. Overall, I had a nice stay. Thanks!

Upon arriving at the hotel, I realized I left my belt bag which contained everything important (credit cards, driver license, passport, literally all the money I brought). There was a female staff with a fringe who was so kind and patient. She helped me track down the train we were on and followed up with the train staff when it had reached its final destination. This was around 12 pm since we wanted to drop off luggage. We got back to the hotel to check in on the status of my bag and she informed us it was at a city 1 hr away by Shinkansen. She looked up the departure/arrival times for roundtrip and we were able to get it same day.

When we were in our room dropping off our luggage first, a male staff who was also looped in called and said they'll bring up a note to show anyone at the station directing where our bag was. Less than a minute later, that same man was at our door OUT OF BREATH. I was so shocked because he came up insanely fast. That's amazing service!!!

We also wanted to ship 1 of our 2 large luggages to our hotel in Tokyo. They were able to take care of that and the cost was extremely reasonable.

The room itself was large compared to other Japanese hotels I've stayed in. Everything was in working order and there was ample bathroom counter space which I love. Clean as well.

Location cannot be beat. Right next to Nagano Station/direct access to the station, and right by the bus stop too.

Very near a Donki and many eateries. Highly recommend.

Great Metropolitan Nagano

Hotel Metropolitan is a very comfortable, and convenient hotel to stay at connected to Nagano train station and Midori department store and food court. It is a great base to explore the areas around Nagano by easy train and bus connections to the Snow Monkey Park, Obuse, Yudanaka, Nakano, Matsumoto and Hakuba. The rooms are very quiet considering all the traffic and people.

Locality to train station cannot be beat- don’t even need to go outside if cold. Restaurants of all sors nearby. Like all hotels in Japan, it was clean. The rooms are a little dated and carpet could use a change. Staff were very friendly. Cost of laundry service was outrageous (think, Boston 5-star prices), and I believe I was over-charged but that was too difficult to covey with my extremely limited Japanese (my problem, that theirs.. it is Japan after all), so I paid if the “extra” $30 USD.

Great place if you need a convenient take off spot in the region.

Terrific location to transportation hub (train/bus/bullet train) and malls/dining options. The breakfast buffet was good and included some local dishes and lots of fresh fruit. Bathroom smelled moldy/mildewy… perhaps an issue with the drains… we reported to the front desk and they “deodorized” the room, but it didn’t help with the bathroom smell.

From elevator exit to Midori Shopping Mall took less than 15 seconds from 2nd floor. Don Quixote less than 2 minutes outside hotel. Can’t beat this location and price
