The hotel is a whole new concept in luxury boutique hotels, bringing the romance and ease of a bygone era together with modern comfort, service and convenience. Here amid the beautiful, historic setting of the Colonial City, the collection of beautifully restored houses with remnants of the sixteenth century, combine into a single, unified hotel environment.

The welcoming staff members are dedicated to providing you with a level of hospitality that leaves you feeling invigorated, refreshed and completely happy. Pool Use Policy:Our guests are welcomed to use the pools located in Casas de los Mapas and Casa Macorís during their stay.

The usage of the pool will be restricted to all guests, if one of the houses is booked under an exclusivity rate or for event purposes. Our pools are not supervised, caution is advised when in use.

Messy check in, very noisy room the first night being awoken at 5am! Overall it was a comfortable stay- staff very helpful. For a city break it’s ok! Rooms misleading! No private pools, which I booked and paid for. No central hotel facilities- several villas all spread out- all built internally overlooking a courtyard with small plunge pools. Don’t book tours through hotel as very overpriced. Overall ok stay and staff helpful

Really beautiful property in the heart of the colonial city, walkable to many restaurants and shops. We loved our room as well as the lovely pool area outside. There is a lot of staff on hand and they are very friendly and helpful. This would be a great place for a group as you can rent all of the rooms in one of the “houses” to have a private area. There was construction right outside while we were there, but it didn’t impact our stay.

Property is well located to explore the colonial area of Santo Domingo. Our stay, unfortunately, did not fulfill our expectations due to the following: (1) I booked a \"Luxury Superior Room\" with bathtub and we were provided with a simple room with shower. Furnishings shown online are not representative of the furnishings in the room. (2) Noise due to nearby parties was excessive. (3) As a gold member a wine bottle was to have been proveded and was not (4) parking is terrible: Parking is on the street in front of the property. At night cars are parked two-wide as night revelers are also allowed to park there and it is impossible to move or use your own vehicle. At checkout in the morning we were still blocked and it took 20 minutes for the staff to find the owner and move the other car out of the way. (5) After paying an additional $60 to pay for breakfast during the booking process I noticed the booking inidcates it was to have been included as a member benefit. The staff was not prepared to tend to the breakfast. There was no prepared table. We found three staff in the entry/dining area and when we inquired about breakfast they brought a table, placed a tablecloth and disappeared (no menu, no china, no tableware noninquiry as to what we might want for breakfast). 15 minutes later we opted to have breakfast in the neighborhood.

The property was beautiful. The only complaint I have is, we weren’t allowed to bring anything in from the outside and I think that was ridiculous. Butler service ends at 11pm and so if you woke up needing a drink and a late night snack you are unable to get it. Or even if you came in from a late night it’s the same nothing in your room to neutralize your stomach before bed.

When I was at this property two years ago, it was phenomenal. Now? In my opinion, it is gone downhill and that is not the fault of the employees that’s a message for upper management and ownership. The unit that we were in needed repairs and looked very tired For a property that is really the king of the hill we need maintenance. We need love.
The staff housekeeping and Butler were amazing upper management. I’m not thrilled with. We could smile more. We could pretend we’re interested more unlike regular staff who were phenomenal. Upper management seemed too stoic and unhappy and too disinterested. I really hope in the future they fix some of these issues because The properties and the general idea of the properties is really excellent. But I was not thrilled with my last five night visit.

I’ll be back.

This trip was absolutely splendid. The staff was friendly and attentive. Every corner of every room was unique, chic and inspirational. Every time I left and returned, it gave me a warm “welcome back home” feeling. I even got a sneak peek into the other 2 rooms in our shared villa and feel in love with each rooms difference.
Having room service can be a bit expensive and some dishes need a little more seasoning but it was filling.
As for the location, it’s a cool 3 min. walk to the main streets to explore and to be picked up from for excursions.
Overall, I will be returning.

IMPOSSIBLE TO SLEEP

It’s a beautifull historic house with an amazing decoration but my room was directly on a busy road with noisy cars, I could even hear people talking on the sidewalk until 3AM and the staff at 7:30AM talking and cleaning the courtyard.
At Checkin I asked them if this room is quiet, They said YES Sir ! At checkout I told them and they apologised,end of story.

Great boutique hotel with the best location if you want to visit the Zona Colonial. Considering teh steep price I’d expected a better concierge service (which was basically non existing and a better check in process). Also the hotel lacks a common area. The houses are spread sacross two different blocks and the main lobby’s doors remain shut most of the time. This hotel has great potential. It just need a little bit morte.

This place was a huge disappointment. The location is wrong in Orbitz, and when you finally get there, is not properly identified. They check you in in a \"main house\" and then they walk you for a few blocks to the house where you are staying.

They were advertising the Luxury Superior Room as having a \"private in-room pool\" which is completely false. The tiny pool that you see in the pictures and you think is a private in room pool, is actually the only and shared pool in the house. This are tiny houses located in a colonial area and the concept is very interesting but poorly executed. There were 3 bedrooms in the house I stayed, and they were all sharing that one tiny pool. There's no fridge in the room, no phones and any service you need you have to request it to the staff through a chat but there was no reception in the room (cellphone signal) and the wifi was not working so it was very difficult to request anything.

There was no kitchen in the house, the kitchen is blocks away so anything you order arrives cold. Additionally there was no ice machine or cold water in the room or anywhere near.

The area where that house was located was a wide alley, there was a power outage (which is pretty common in the country) and the walk back to the house from a restaurant was pitch dark and pretty sketchy/dangerous, as they only bothered to power up one light at the door of the house with their power generator.

There's many better hotels for that price.

We have had a wonderful stay at Casas del XVI. This is our first trip to the DR & we wanted to explore Santo Domingo before traveling to the beach. We chose not to get guided tours & walked the Colonial Zone ourselves and had an amazing day. We booked an executive double but in the notes requested a queen size and our room has a very comfortable king size bed. The bathroom is as amazing as the photos. There are two other rooms off of the courtyard like ours and the other guests have been quiet like us. We share the courtyard but we spent more time there than any other guests, just enjoying the quiet, hearing the birds. The staff are excellent & all we had to do was what's app for service. Breakfast is lovely and served in the courtyard on beautiful dishes. The staff wears masks, in fact there is a lot of covid safety throughout the colonial zone which we liked. The room and all common areas were very clean. We are traveling to Samana for the week and decided to come back to Casas del XVI for our last night before flying out of SDQ.

The hotel is a renovated house of the XV century, with all the rooms adjacent, and the next door guest were impossible, really loud, cursing all night, and the staff could not control them, my wife and me where traveling with our kids and none of us could sleep, we had to leave early so we could get home and sleep

This boutique hotel is what you need. It is a hidden gem. With the unique design, tasteful decoration, warm welcome and outstanding service from the concierge and our butler, we enjoyed every moment of our stay. The location is excellent for the colonial part of town. The staff are excellent and very helpfu, friendly and efficient. Breakfast was included and delicious. Our room was an executive double, which is not in the original part of the building but within a modern extension surrounding a courtyard area. The room was spacious and with a very comfortable bed. The restaurant, bar and gym was closed as it was under renovation, which we were not made aware of when booking. They operate a butler system, who basically gets you anything you may need and serves you breakfast within the attrative open courtyard area. The rooms have partitioned walls, not brick, so you will hear people talking and eating outside in the courtyard while you are in the room. We did not hear the traffic nor the adjacent nursery school (as it was the weekend). One morning we were lead to a table directly outside someone elses room, which we found a bit disconcerting as their window was open and we could hear the occupants talking in their room while we were eating. You are provided with ear plugs but we did not need them. The pool is a plunge pool and not a proper swimming pool. These minor issues did not spoil our stay and it was a real pleasure stepping into this hotel which was an oasis.

I stayed at Casas del XVI for 2 nights with a group of 5 other people for business/pleasure.

Our reservation was for a total of 3 rooms, so we were graciously accommodated in Casa Antillana during our stay.

In terms of the area, the hotel is located in the colonial zone of the city of Santo Domingo, where buildings & sites have a great historical value in the development of the Americas (sites are within walking distance of the hotel). There are lots of museums and shops to visit during the day and restaurants and bars to enjoy at night.

The area is VERY safe and we never felt uncomfortable walking around day or night.

In terms of the hotel itself, the staff is friendly and helpful (the cellphone assigned to each room is handy and Jerry was a great butler), and the interior design is incredible. After taking a tour of the properties, I can assure that everything is even more beautiful and charming in person.

Our group was happy and appreciative of the attention lent to us during our stay, and we look forward to staying here again sometime in the future.

Charming hotel with 5-star service

The service here is 5-star. It's a very intimate and lovely hotel in a great location. There are actually multiple courtyard-style locations under this hotel name and only some have a pool so if that's important to you, make sure to specify. From the pictures, we thought we'd have access to a pool but when we arrived, the locations with the pools were fully booked and so we were not able to use any pool facilities during our stay.
